15 February - National Weather Forecast presented by Liam Eslick
Transcript
00:00Hello there. I hope you enjoyed the sunshine yesterday as the second half of this weekend
00:04is a little bit more unsettled with plenty of showers around. But if we have a look at
00:09the bigger picture, that high pressure that did bring that sunshine yesterday has now
00:12moved off towards the continent and we do have this larger low pressure system in charge.
00:17This band of rain that we see moving eastwards over the UK, now that did bring some snow
00:22showers overnight last night, especially across Scotland and northern England. There is still
00:28some snow across eastern England through this afternoon, but that is now moving off as well.
00:33And there is some breaks in that cloud, especially across the south, where temperatures could again
00:38get up towards 10 or 11 degrees, but where we do have this more persistent rain and cloud
00:43up towards the north, it will still feel rather cool. Temperatures around those mid-single figures here.
00:48Now as we go through a Sunday evening, that persistent rain across the north does eventually move off
00:54towards the north sea as well. But then we still have this feed of these showers moving in overnight
00:59tonight. There will be a couple of breaks in that cloud towards the south, but temperatures here
01:05shouldn't really dip below freezing overnight last night. So not expecting too much frost down this
01:10way. But up towards Aberdeen, where there is some clearer skies and a bit of a colder air mass,
01:15temperatures will dip below freezing. So likely to see a touch of frost here first thing on
01:19Monday morning. Now as we go through Monday morning, those showers will continue through
01:25much of the UK. Across the south, there will be some breaks in that cloud. So again, there is some
01:30brightness, there is some sunnier spells to start the new week. Even across northeast England and
01:35again, northern Scotland by the afternoon, there will be some sunnier spells in between these showers.
01:41One or two of these showers could be heavy and they could be blustery at times. But again,
01:45temperatures, especially across the south, around 9 or 10 degrees. But in this northerly wind across
01:50Scotland, it will feel rather cold. It will say 4 or 5 up there, but with the wind chill, it
01:55may feel
01:55closer to 3 or 2 degrees through the afternoon. Now as we head through Monday evening, we will see
02:03this northerly wind continue to bring in these wintry showers across the north. So snow showers
02:08across northern Scotland again, even on some lower levels as well. But clearer skies are developing here
02:14as well. So we're likely to see some icy stretches first thing on Tuesday morning and overnight
02:20on Monday. But Tuesday at the moment is looking like a pretty bright day at the moment. But
