15 February - National Weather Forecast presented by Liam Eslick
Transcript
00:00Hello there. It's going to be an unsettled end to the weekend and that is going to be a similar
00:04story for Monday as these showers do continue, but there is some brightness in the forecast as we go through
00:10the week.
00:11But for the rest of the weekend, we still have these showers coming in this north-westerly breeze.
00:15They will be quite brisk, especially where these showers are heaviest across the west.
00:20But for first thing Monday morning, there are a few breaks across the south as well, but we're not really
00:25expecting those temperatures to fall away too much.
00:27Around the mid-single figures for southern England and Wales, but up towards Scotland, especially Aberdeenshire, where those skies are
00:34clear, we are expecting a little bit of a frost here, so it will be a very crisp start towards
00:39the week.
00:40But Monday is going to be a similar day to Sunday.
00:43These showers do continue and they could combine into longer spells of rain, especially across Wales and central southern England.
00:50But there will be some breaks in between these showers.
00:53We could even see some sunnier spells at times through the afternoon, especially across the south, north-eastern England and
00:59across the western Isles of Scotland as well.
01:02But it is going to be cold up towards Scotland.
01:04Much of those showers are turning to snow, even possible on some lower levels as well.
01:10So it will still be a cold day.
01:12Temperatures around four or five degrees across Scotland, but it may feel closer to freezing in this brisk northerly wind.
01:19Further towards the south, it is still relatively mild for the time of year.
01:23A couple of degrees above the seasonal average.
01:26Could even get towards 10 degrees across those southern counties as well.
01:30Now, as we go through Monday evening, a lot of these showers will start to fizzle out and we will
01:35start to see some clearer skies overnight.
01:37So we are expecting these temperatures to fall away, especially across northern Ireland, Scotland and northern England, where we do
01:44have clearer skies.
01:45We are likely to see some frost, even some icy stretches first thing on Tuesday morning.
01:50So do take care.
01:51First thing on Tuesday, it is going to be a very crisp and cold start as well.
01:56Temperatures across the south, again, around those mid to low single figures, but still could see a frost down here
02:02as well to start the day.
02:04Now, for the rest of Tuesday, it is going to be a bright day, more in the way of some
02:08sunshine.
02:09There are a couple of showers just down the northeastern coast here, but otherwise it is going to be a
02:14dry day.
02:15The sunshine could turn a little bit milky and a little bit hazy across the southwest through the afternoon.
02:21And there are just one or two showers that could turn wintry across those northern Isles of Scotland once again.
02:27Otherwise, a dry day, but it is going to be a cold day as well.
02:30Now, noticeably fresher, especially across the south, six, seven, possibly even eight degrees down here.
02:36And again, up towards the north, four or five.
02:39So much colder than what we've seen over the last couple of days.
02:43Now, as we go through the week, it is going to remain a little bit changeable.
02:47It is still going to stay cold for the rest of the week.
02:50It is going to turn a little bit more unsettled, especially across those southern counties.
02:54But in between, we will have some dry, even some sunnier spells as we head towards Thursday and Friday as
03:00well.
03:00But for all the latest on that, don't forget to head over towards our YouTube channel.
03:04And I'll see you again soon.
