21 December - National forecast presented by Liam Eslick.

00:00Hello there. It's going to be a cloudy end towards the weekend and we aren't going to
00:04introduce a bit more in the way of rain as we head through this afternoon and evening.
00:07But as we head towards Christmas, it will start to turn a little bit colder. But out there at
00:11the moment, there is plenty of cloud around. It will feel quite murky across much of the UK and
00:15there will be a few outbreaks of some rain, especially across the southwest of England and
00:20across parts of eastern Scotland. But elsewhere should be a mostly dry afternoon and it will feel
00:25rather mild once again. Temperatures around 10 or 11 degrees, especially across the south.
00:30Maybe just a little bit cooler across Scotland, around 8 or 9 degrees here as well.
00:35But as we go through this afternoon and evening, like I said, it will turn a lot wetter, especially
00:39across the southeast as this rain does move its way northwards. It will be heavy as it reaches
00:45northern England and across the Pennines and across the southwest as well. Those showers
00:49will turn a little bit heavier through the early hours of Monday morning. But for people
00:53waking up first thing on Monday, especially across the southeast, it will be a drier start
00:58to the day. But it will be a mild start as well. Temperatures not really falling away
01:02too much under this cloud. We're probably looking at lows of around sort of around 6 or 7 degrees
01:07across the southeast. Maybe a little bit milder under the cloud towards the west. Maybe just
01:11creeping up towards those high single figures for Monday morning. Now as we go through Monday,
01:17that rain will continually push its way northwards. It will still be quite heavy across northern
01:22Ireland and Scotland as it does so. And we will start to see some patchy rain across northern
01:25Ireland through the morning as well. But turning drier elsewhere, could even see some sunnier
01:30spells across south Wales and the southwest. But again, more in the way of some cloud.
01:35Another murky day to come. There was a couple of breaks across northern England and northern
01:40Ireland by the afternoon. But another mild day to come. Temperatures towards the south,
01:45around 11 or 12 degrees. But even up towards the north as well. Temperatures in towards
01:50those double figures. So very mild for the time of year as we enter Christmas week.
01:55Now as we go through the week and head towards the big day, the high pressure that we have
01:59towards Scandinavia will eventually move its way in towards the north. So things do start
02:05to settle down. But those ice bars towards the southern half of the UK are becoming a little
02:09bit tighter. So the winds are increasing here and it is introducing this colder air across
02:14the south of the UK. So as we head towards Christmas, it will start to feel a little bit colder,
02:18especially across the south. Maybe just still keeping hold of that mile there across the
02:22northern half. Across Northern Ireland and for Scotland for the big day.
02:26But as we head towards the big day, details will start to become a little bit more in line
02:30as we head towards Christmas itself. But for all the latest, don't forget to head over
02:34towards our YouTube channel and subscribe.
