00:00Dear Egristiz family, our Mayor of Aydın Köşk Municipality, Mr. Nuri Güler, is currently with us at our event.
00:11Mr. President, welcome to our program.
00:16Mr. President, you are the agricultural leader of Aydın Köşk. You have provided very important services.
00:21Aydın Köşk, in particular, is a city known both regionally and nationally for its agricultural trade.
00:31Could we hear about your work in the agricultural sector, Mr. President?
00:38Here, we mostly have steam energy derived from our underground resources.
00:47There is a greenhouse here, owned by a private company, that is related to it.
00:55This is heated by steam energy.
01:00They also export to various countries around the world.
01:05They mainly grow greenhouse tomatoes; they are involved in greenhouse farming.
01:09They were very important to us.
01:11As you know, this involves heating greenhouses using renewable energy sources and in natural conditions without polluting the environment.
01:22Providing them with economic opportunities and enabling them to produce goods, both in terms of diversifying the product range here.
01:30and also greenhouse production, meaning that the soil and climate conditions contribute greatly to production,
01:40These were important and valuable for us, both in terms of learning about and demonstrating climatic conditions.
01:46Our roommates made significant contributions here; they created works of art.
01:51Of course, we focused particularly on land consolidation efforts during this period.
01:58Within our borders in the region where the Büyük Menderes Basin is located
02:02Land consolidation efforts were carried out in some of our neighborhoods that were formerly villages.
02:10They believe that a significant number of our people will contribute to production by consolidating the land into a single plot.
02:18It also made significant contributions to facilitating processes and increasing efficiency.
02:24Beyond that, what we have here is related to this freezing dry technology.
02:36I proposed the establishment of what would be one of the most advanced factories in Europe in terms of equipment.
02:47Especially thanks to our diligent efforts and their choice of location within our own district,
02:53We have made significant contributions to attracting them to our region and encouraging them to invest.
02:58Right now, think about this with all kinds of fruits and vegetables as well.
03:06For example, drying corn, or instead of popcorn, you know, regular kernels in those packages,
03:13So, strawberries, apples, oranges, whatever kind of fruit or vegetable comes to mind,
03:20They have excellent products that allow you to dry all kinds of vegetables, such as peas, and consume them as is.
03:29Since I didn't have any knowledge about these things, we actually had the means to show the packaging.
03:36So, he can show those too.
03:38This investment has become a driving force for agriculture.
03:49In that respect, it's a privilege; this investment exists only in our region within the Aydın region.
03:56It's really very advantageous.
03:59As you know, we also provide a lot of support to our farmers, especially regarding livestock farming and access to their land.
04:07The concept for new equipment, such as combine harvesters, which previously faced transportation difficulties, has naturally changed.
04:15Now, production on farms and lands is done with very large, gigantic machines.
04:22Of course, the relocation and transport of those lands is a really significant problem.
04:29We also provide support to our farmers in relation to these issues.
04:31We work together with agricultural chambers.
04:34So, identifying these pests, especially plant pests,
04:41We also provide significant support to our farmers in identifying the types of pesticides they should use and ensuring they are provided with suitable prices.
04:51We are also working on that issue.
04:53Our region is mostly associated with chestnuts and Bursa, but Aydın is the province that produces the most chestnuts in Türkiye.
05:07In second place is us, the Presidential Palace.
05:11Yes, we do produce a significant amount of chestnuts.
05:14As you know, chestnut drying is very common in chestnut production.
05:17There are various diseases that they refer to as intrauterine cancer.
05:21Our governor's office has also carried out special efforts to prevent these things.
05:28There is a parasite, a pest, that we call the galarasi, which is very harmful to chestnut trees.
05:35To prevent them from harming the plants, we also made significant contributions in the field of biological pest control, specifically through the production and release of bees.
05:47We provided support to the region.
05:48Thankfully, the amount of those issues and the discomfort are now under control.
05:54We also have ongoing projects, particularly regarding the distribution of chestnut and fig saplings.
06:00Our biggest problem here is the period when the fig trees, which we call male figs, begin to ripen.
06:06There are problems related to cultivating those good things.
06:10We have new projects in the works, God willing.
06:13Especially in our last meeting, we discussed with the governor the allocation of land after the allocation was made in the national real estate registry.
06:21By creating a beekeeping garden, we can help our producers grow higher quality beekeeping products that will yield higher returns.
06:29There, pollination, and naturally speeding up its pollination, is very important for figs.
06:36As you know, figs are our go-to product, one of the harvested products of this region.
06:41The same goes for chestnuts.
06:41These are valuable products for us, and they are products that we export.
06:45From that perspective, it seems that these people need special support and are engaged in farming.
06:52In order to both inform and support our farmers who are engaged in production...
06:56We need to make significant contributions.
06:59We are doing our best to fulfill our responsibilities in this regard.
07:03Of course, drought is now a concern in the lowland areas, especially in the region where the Greater Mendele River is located.
07:08Drought has become a major problem in recent years.
07:11Underground resources are also gradually starting to be extracted in these regions.
07:19Planning by the state water works and their own efforts have actually become insufficient.
07:29Especially in this region, uncontrolled irrigation is still common.
07:34A new plan to prevent wasteful irrigation is needed, especially with government involvement.
07:42State water works, or other state departments as well.
07:47These closed irrigation systems, whether drip, sprinkler, or jet irrigation, need to be encouraged and given significant support.
07:57Our irrigation canals are very old, there are incredible water losses, the leakage rate is very high.
08:03These need to be reviewed again.
08:06So we do have some important problems.
08:08You summarized it very well, thank you very much.
08:11I'd like to ask one more question, and then we'll wrap things up.
08:14You produce these high value-added products, such as chestnuts, figs, walnuts, and olives.
08:20But of course, in the marketing process, the city, which plays an important role, is also at the forefront of enlightened cities, and the mansion is no exception.
08:29But do you have any ongoing work in terms of producing high value-added products?
08:35So, it's not just about producing chestnuts and supplying them to Bursa, but also about processing and marketing these chestnuts into finished products, what do you say?
08:43Yes, I had dreams and high hopes regarding chestnuts even before I became mayor.
08:52We found the opportunity to make it happen.
08:54I built a chestnut candy and flour factory, using the municipality's resources.
09:02We've now produced our candied chestnuts, but we've had, and continue to have, some difficulties in marketing them.
09:08We currently have the chestnut shapes we produced, but I've reduced the production quantity a bit this year.
09:16We are trying to focus on flour.
09:18There are also one or two subcontracting firms in Bursa.
09:22They want chestnut flour.
09:25You know, there's something important there for people with celiac disease, what they call gluten-free flour.
09:34So, as you know, this is something that helps people with gluten allergies, those with health problems, by helping them overcome their health issues.
09:43This is an important issue.
09:45Actually, they also have market share, meaning there is demand for them.
09:49We started producing for them.
09:51The samples have just arrived.
09:53So, in order to make the most of chestnuts, we, as the municipality, have a duty to fulfill, but as you know, our municipality is small, and our budgets are limited.
10:00We accomplished these things with modest means.
10:03In particular, there were SODEP projects of the South Aegean Development Agency, which we call GECA.
10:09We did it by evaluating them.
10:12That was such a great support for us.
10:15We got through life with their support.
10:17Hopefully, we are only in the early stages right now.
10:21So, we've further developed the brand and obtained all the necessary permits, but we can't just work on it intensely and implement it now.
10:29We did it out of courtesy, as a matter of etiquette, for him to have a visitor.
10:32Perhaps investors here who are involved in chestnut farming, trade, production, and who are in a good economic position, might see this and want to do something like this.
10:42that's what we thought.
10:43The main production of that product is in our country.
10:46Therefore, I think it's important to add value to it here as well, and to process the products.
10:56This is the kind of support we provided in this matter.
10:59But figs are, of course, a very old product.
11:01Figs are a heavenly fruit, as you know.
11:03They have almost become synonymous with the name Aydın.
11:09Here in Turkey, we also have companies that export to all corners of the world, from China to America.
11:17There are big companies.
11:18So we have large companies that can market 5-6 thousand tons, even 10 thousand tons of products annually.
11:25They also diversified these products, creating different ones by changing the packaging methods and classification of chocolate, thus producing various products.
11:41They also market it that way.
11:42They also said that when it comes to fig exports, they don't have any major problems selling the product, but the quality of the product varies depending on the year it is grown.
11:51He says that there are occasional difficulties, of course.
11:54Yes. Mr. President, you are a very valuable member of Egristis, the International Association of Agricultural Cities.
12:01Our Union President, Mr. Uğur İbrahim Altay, also sends his warmest greetings to you on this occasion.
12:07Thank you very much, esteemed chairman, for the information and insights you have provided.
12:12Thank you very much.
12:13Thank you very much. Please give my regards. Have a good day.
12:16Wa alaikum assalam. Thank you very much.
12:18Our President. We love our President.
