00:00Dear Egristiz family, our esteemed Mayor of Yumurtalık Municipality in Adana, Mr. Erdinç Altıok, is currently our guest at the Egristiz family.
00:11Mr. President, you are one of Adana's most important agricultural leaders.
00:17You are serving as the Mayor of Yumurtalık.
00:20Welcome to our program.
00:23Nice to meet you, thank you, you're welcome.
00:25First of all, I would like to thank you for preparing such a program, thank you.
00:31We have a truly significant agricultural sector in this district.
00:35It's a very important district, but it has a unique microclimate.
00:40Mr. President, you have provided very important services in the ovaries sector, but before that, you were also the president of the agricultural chamber.
00:47You provide tremendous support to the agricultural community, agricultural workers, and agricultural laborers.
00:52This process began before he became mayor.
00:57Could you tell us a little about the agricultural activities in your region?
01:01Because there's a fruit and vegetable supply system in the ovaries that spans 12 months.
01:07We're listening, please go ahead.
01:09Yes, the ovaries have 310,000 acres of farmland, measured in acres.
01:18It is located between the Ceyhan River and the sea, and it has a characteristic, a certain warmth, given off by both the sea and the Ceyhan River.
01:29We have a river that comes from the Taurus Mountains and cuts through the cold.
01:32Therefore, we have the opportunity to produce our fruits and vegetables for 12 months of the year.
01:36Of course, I'm talking about vegetables grown under cover for a certain period of time.
01:41Greenery is my winter thing.
01:44Our soil is very suitable for growing fruits and vegetables.
01:49We have red soil, we have gray soil.
01:52We have the soil and the structure to suit every fruit.
01:57I've been involved in agriculture for many years now.
02:01I created five and a half agricultural chamber titles.
02:05I was also involved in agriculture during that period.
02:08I already have a past.
02:10I am a farmer, I work in agriculture.
02:14I also place great importance on tropical products.
02:17Generally speaking, when you look around the country, I'm one of the first people to launch innovative products.
02:25On my own land and in the region.
02:28Lately, bananas, mangoes, mangoes haven't completely stopped being available yet, but bananas, avocados, mangoes, dragon fruit, and passion fruit – these were all foreign products.
02:44These are the tropical products that have started.
02:47Hopefully, in the coming years, we will do our best to introduce even more diverse products to our region and help them become more widely available.
02:56Today, for example, we attempted to establish a women's cooperative.
03:00We applied for a grant related to cold storage and packaging.
03:06I think this is an initiative to bring this into our workforce and create employment.
03:13Because that's generally the case with companies here, they prefer male employees.
03:20Unfortunately, our women are not taking jobs.
03:24Therefore, we have undertaken a number of initiatives aimed at women.
03:28Hopefully we will see the results of that soon as well.
03:30We will help our women in that regard, in terms of agriculture.
03:34How nice.
03:35Mr. President, we know you have a great sensitivity regarding employment issues.
03:39You are particularly active as a local administrator and as an agricultural leader, especially in the area of women's employment.
03:46So, could you talk a little about these employment-related studies, especially in agriculture?
03:54Well, regarding agriculture, since our region is mainly vegetable-based, for example, 20 days ago, a kilo of mandarins cost 1...
04:05It was TL.
04:06And he had driven prices so low that he would say, "Pick up the mandarins from my field and take them away without paying."
04:15Lettuce is the same way, and so is cabbage.
04:18If we receive these grants that we will use to establish these new facilities, we will package them and, of course, employ women (100%) in the process, packaging them and storing them in cold storage.
04:30We will preserve their warehouses.
04:32And for example, if a month has passed and prices now rise again, then it's too late.
04:37So, within a month, we will be launching projects that will yield a 100%, 300%, or 500% return on investment.
04:45So these cold storage and packaging facilities will both provide employment for our women and be a benefit for our farmers.
04:53They won't need to rush to give their products to someone.
04:58That's wonderful. Mr. President, there's another point, of course; Adana also has a sea, in Yumurtalık.
05:04Therefore, this is a very important area for Adana.
05:08We have 55 kilometers of coastline.
05:11Yes, 55 kilometers.
05:14Do you have any studies on fisheries?
05:18What is the progress of your work on the coastal development project? Could we hear about that as well?
05:24In the field of fisheries, the initial phase involves the production of 36,000 tons of farmed fish.
05:34Harvesting will begin, in fact, at the end of this month.
05:37And there are still those preparing the facility's establishment.
05:41We have 5-6 days of training.
05:47We have many long days ahead of us.
05:49We have lagoons like Yevkoma, Çamlı Dalyanı, and Sarı Gölü.
05:54There are natural fishing grounds and fish farming areas there.
05:58That's what we call it.
06:02We also call them lagoons.
06:04We have a bird sanctuary. We have a 72,000-acre bird sanctuary.
06:07It's also under the Ramsar Convention. It's a very special area.
06:14Our fishermen are finding it increasingly difficult to catch fish.
06:20Should I call it newly constructed facilities, or is it the state water works' algae-removing chemicals that are flowing?
06:29In some way, the fish' habitat is shrinking.
06:32We need to protect them, we need to look after them.
06:35I also brought up and shared these issues at the last meeting.
06:40We need to protect our fish farming areas and our habitats first and foremost.
06:45We need to support our fishermen.
06:46As the Metropolitan Municipality and Yumurtalık Municipality, we provide grant support to our fishermen from time to time, as much as we can.
06:54There are agricultural directorates.
06:55Thankfully, the companies here are being helpful.
06:58We are trying to support our fishermen together.
07:00Because costs have really increased.
07:04Costs are starting to become a bit of a problem.
07:06Our fishermen urgently need support.
07:09Some days Gükro comes back with fish.
07:13When we consider its fuel and the salary of the colleague working there,
07:19Our fishermen have been experiencing serious difficulties in the last 3-4 years.
07:24But as I said, in terms of development, we need to protect our lagoons.
07:30We need to prevent medicated water from entering our lagoons.
07:33As I said, here the lagoons and pastures are adjacent to each other.
07:38So when, in the name of improving our pastures, that water seeps from the pastures into the lagoons,
07:44The algae in the lagoons are disappearing, and their feeding and grazing areas are being destroyed.
07:52We need to be.
07:53When we protect it, we own our fishermen, we protect our fishermen.
07:58How nice.
07:59Mr. President, we don't want to take up any more of your time.
08:02Thank you very much for your contributions.
08:04We would be very happy to hear your final remarks and projects related to agriculture.
08:14Agriculture is a sector that needs serious support from the ministry.
08:20Indeed, in recent years, the economic crisis and wars in various countries around the world have had a harmful impact.
08:28Our agriculture has suffered a serious setback.
08:31He's going through a very difficult period.
08:33I hear about it as soon as it happens.
08:36I was the only organic farmer in the area, working alongside a university.
08:40I had to leave.
08:43Tarsus, from the Berdan River to Yumurtalık, is known as the world's fruit garden.
08:48Because it has a microclimate and a unique climate.
08:52From Yumurtalık and Tarsuz, to Yumurtalık from the Berdan River, to the region's agriculture, to fruit and vegetable producers...
09:05I think we seriously need support on this issue.
09:09Because I'm involved in agriculture, I don't listen, I live it.
09:15I am deeply involved with agriculture.
09:17You have experience in this area, yes.
09:18There is a serious need for this in agriculture, and it wouldn't be necessary either.
09:22Because the world generally believes that these wars affect us,
09:24It's impossible for the fire not to spread to the neighbors.
09:27We are suffering losses in agriculture, and we are suffering losses in industry.
09:30If it is supported by the state, if it is improved a little more,
09:37I think we'll have a better chance of standing on our feet.
09:41Mr. President, thank you very much.
09:43We send our regards to the ovary from here, thanks for the information you provided.
09:48I also send you my greetings and regards.
09:51Thank you, viewers.
09:54Our Audience Chairman, our Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality,
09:56We also convey the heartfelt greetings of Mr. Uğur İbrahim Altay to you.
10:01I send my greetings and respects to the President.
10:04Thank you, thank you.
10:05Thank you, Mr. President.
10:06Good luck, Mr. Ibrahim Altay.
