00:00Hello, very good morning to you. Today's sort of a transition day in some respects.
00:05There's calm weather to come before the end of the week.
00:08At the moment, we're not quite there yet. It is still a little unsettled, just nowhere near as unsettled as
00:14the start of the week,
00:15with the deep air of low pressure that brought the very strong winds to northern areas.
00:19That's now clearing away towards the north, and instead we have high pressure building from the south.
00:23But currently, well, you can see those tightly packed isobars indicating blustery winds coming in from the west.
00:30And they're feeding in plenty of showers.
00:32So there's some showery rain across northern and western parts first thing this morning, drier in the southeast.
00:37The more persistent rain across northern England, parts of Wales this morning, that is going to feed south and eastwards,
00:42but it breaks up as it goes.
00:44So actually, some southeastern counties not really seeing any rain.
00:47A generally fine day with some decent bright sunny weather.
00:50Otherwise, most places will see a few showers coming through, but they're not looking as heavy or intense, less likely
00:56to be thundery compared to what we saw yesterday.
01:00There is still a brisk breeze around.
01:02It's quite blustery for many places.
01:03But again, the wind's nowhere near as strong as they were to start the week.
01:07And with that then, and temperatures above average, if anything, for the time of year, it should actually feel quite
01:13warm,
01:14especially if you're sheltered from the breeze and in any of that sunshine.
01:18In the breeze, it's going to feel a little bit fresh at times or perhaps even quite cool.
01:24A few more showers to come through the end of the day, but generally they're going to be easing, breaking
01:28up, dying away.
01:29That's because that high pressure is building from the south, so that's going to help quieten things down.
01:34But nonetheless, yes, some showery bursts across some parts of Scotland may be feeding in through the Irish Sea,
01:38and some southern counties could see a couple of showers, but otherwise it's looking largely dry.
01:42One thing we do need to be aware of, though, is the risk of some mist and fog, some general
01:46murkiness,
01:46especially across central southern parts of England.
01:49That's where it's likely to be most widespread and perhaps locally dense first thing on Thursday mornings
01:54could cause some problems on the roads.
01:57Otherwise, temperature's not dropping a huge amount.
01:59Most places holding up in the high single figures or just about double digits,
02:02though some sheltered clearer breaks or places with clearer breaks across some parts of southern England
02:08could see temperatures getting low enough for a touch of grass frost, perhaps.
02:12Then through the day, yes, it could be quite a grey, murky start for some of us, but things will
02:17brighten up.
02:18The sunshine will come out as we go through the afternoon, and, well, there could be some showers
02:22feeding in across parts of Scotland, maybe affecting the Isle of Man, clipping coastal parts of Wales, maybe.
02:28But far fewer showers than we've seen today and far, far fewer showers than we saw through both Monday and
02:33Tuesday,
02:34so a drier picture for many of us and some decent bright sunny weather to be had as well.
02:38Temperature's still a little bit above average for the time of year, and lighter winds.
02:43Still, the risk of gales may be around some exposed coastal parts towards the northwest,
02:48but, yes, not as breezy as today.
02:49Much lighter winds than we had earlier on this week.
02:53Now, looking ahead towards, well, the end of the week and Halloween,
02:56and with that high pressure dominating, for many, it is going to be generally dry.
03:00Not everywhere, because there's the potential for a front to come in,
03:03but it's likely to bash against that high,
03:05so not really affect many places just towards the northwest of the UK,
03:09so western parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland perhaps could see some rain.
03:11Otherwise, largely dry, but it could be quite eerie, quite spooky perhaps,
03:16because there's the potential for more mist and fog to develop.
03:19So that's something to keep an eye out for,
03:21but, of course, we will be keeping you up to date across our YouTube channel.
03:24If you want to know more about what happens after Halloween,
03:26and as we head into November, check out my 10-day trend,
03:29which I'll be bringing to you later on.
03:30Bye-bye.
