00:00You know what else you're going to watch play out tonight?
00:01A little action football, Western Michigan versus Eastern Michigan.
00:05Line opened up under a touchdown.
00:07Here's the look-ahead number for Western Michigan.
00:09But we're now seeing, Joe, across the board, minus 7.5 or higher in a total of 45.5.
00:16Western versus Eastern, the Battle of Michigan.
00:19What's your spread line?
00:20I'm sad, Donnie, because this will actually be the final game of an epic 49-day run of football every day.
00:29And this is going to be the final one here.
00:33UMass is playing earlier, but let's be realistic.
00:35Nobody's watching that anyway.
00:37We told you yesterday in the spread lines that there is a logjam in the MAAC conference here right now.
00:43There's going to be tiebreakers.
00:45There's going to be all sorts of craziness happening.
00:47But Western Michigan got a win to give themselves an opportunity here.
00:53And I can see it.
00:54I mean, they have already retained the MAAC trophy in Michigan for the third straight year.
01:01I think nine times out of the last 12 years.
01:03They're going for three in a row here.
01:05But nothing is guaranteed.
01:07But the market seems to think that this Western Michigan team, great defense.
01:13Eastern Michigan, not very good.
01:15But they've been very good in an underdog role.
01:17But that hasn't stopped people, Donnie, from betting this thing up and over to key number of seven.
01:23I think it keeps going that way.
01:25But it's the total that has been getting crushed here.
01:28You talked about that opening number, 46 and a half.
01:31We've seen it drop down a little bit here.
01:34And I think that's going to keep falling because the defense is that good from Western Michigan.
01:40And Eastern Michigan is just not a very good team.
01:43The Heisman Trophy in college football did feel like we had a two-person race there, Joe.
01:50I was like, okay, it's either going to be Fernando Mendoza or Julian Sayan.
01:53After this week last week, we only got a handful of carries, went the distance multiple times.
01:58That's Jeremiah Love.
01:59He now sits at a plus 450 spot.
02:02And Diego Pavia had a plus 550.
02:04Are there some needles going in that pin cushion right now where it looked like it was just a two-man race?
02:09And as Julian Sayan getting knocked where he doesn't really have to do all that much right now.
02:13And he's going to take on Michigan this weekend, which could give him a boost.
02:17But that's probably not a real high-scoring game at this point.
02:20Mendoza, a good story out of Indiana.
02:21They like to run it up.
02:22But it looks like we got competition, Joe, for the first time in a couple weeks.
02:27Yeah, the numbers all seem to make some sense here, right?
02:32And it seems to be very, very close, one of the closer Heisman races that we've seen in a while.
02:41But still a couple of weeks left to go here.
02:43So keep an eye on all of these guys.
02:45Who's going to have the big moment, the big game?
02:49Who is it that's going to step up when it matters the most?
02:52Boy, oh, boy, it'd be interesting to see Jeremiah Love and Diego Pavia.
02:57They had huge Saturdays here.
03:00Can they keep that going over the next week or so?
03:03I think that's going to be a lot of fun.
03:06High-rated quarterbacks go to Penn State and somehow don't turn out all that great.
03:10But Pete Thamel reports here, quote,
03:12I'm going to be a better version of myself out of this.
03:14Spoke to Penn State quarterback Drew Aller,
03:17who's made a full recovery from his broken ankle and looking ahead
03:20to throwing for teams at either the NFL Combine or a pro day.
03:25Drew Aller, once thought to be possibly the number one overall quarterback,
03:28now he's just going to say, you know what?
03:29Working hard, full recovery.
03:31I'll throw for some teams.
03:32Where does he go?
03:32Is he still a first-round talent, Joe?
03:36He goes to a practice squad.
03:38Like, you know, that's where he goes.
03:41Like, it's stopped.
03:42He couldn't throw, Donnie, at Penn State.
03:44Like, he's one of the worst downfield passers we have seen.
03:49He's just not, he's not an NFL quarterback in any way, shape, or form.
03:54And in a year where you've got, well, you got a handful of guys coming out
03:59that are going to go probably in the top 10 here, Donnie.
04:02I, yeah, maybe in a fourth or fifth round.
04:05But I was not impressed at all with his arm or his ability to throw the deep ball,
04:10which is a problem.
04:11If the season ended today, that draft order, oh, Tennessee Titans just drafted
04:15number one overall last year.
04:16That's the sound of a great organization, by the way.
04:18Draft number one overall and then do it again the next year.
04:20That's really hard to do in the NFL when they already help you with scheduling
04:24and also draft picks for you to get in line.
04:27The Giants, the Saints, the Jets, the Vegas Raiders, as well as Cleveland
04:31in that top six here.
04:33Tennessee probably not looking quarterback.
04:34Giants looking quarterback.
04:36Saints, I guess, not looking for a quarterback like they thought they drafted their guy.
04:39Jets looking for a quarterback.
04:41Vegas looking for a quarterback.
04:42And away it goes, Joe.
04:45Yeah, well, if Tennessee's smart, the mark of a good organization is trade out
04:49of that number one pick this year.
04:51Get yourself nine million other picks and rebuild that roster around last year's
04:57number one pick there in Cam Ward.
04:59So, and you'll be back on the road to recovery.
05:03But I have my doubts with that organization because the way that organization is being run,
05:08yeesh, it could be ugly in a hurry there.
05:11Yeah, most teams, again, when you're bad, you try to grab that quarterback at the top
05:16of the draft.
05:16The number one overall pick odds here, who that's going to be.
05:20Simpson out of Alabama at a plus 130 price quarterback.
05:23Mendoza out of Indiana, three to one price here quarterback.
05:25And then look at that.
05:26Reuben Hurricane Bain Jr.
05:28Plus 360 here as a defensive end.
05:31They always creep up there.
05:32But I do think if you're trading up to the top spot, like Tennessee, dumb move to say,
05:37you know what?
05:37We like Reuben Bain, even though he's a great player.
05:39It's all about value.
05:41He's not value at number one.
05:42Trade back and say, hey, you know what?
05:43The Jets want to creep up.
05:45They want their quarterback.
05:45Go back to four.
05:46And then maybe you got a chance there at Hurricane Bain at that point.
05:49Any thoughts, Joe, on who's going number one?
05:51And will it be a quarterback?
05:52It certainly feels like somebody's going up to get a quarterback here because Tennessee
05:59right now, and we don't see them obviously making some sort of drastic turnaround here
06:04before the end of the season and rattling off a few wins.
06:09But currently right now, if you got the Giants, you got Tennessee, neither need a quarterback,
06:13but both will be available and answering the phone if you want to move up Jets.
06:20And New Orleans obviously needs, there's a few quarterback needy teams.
06:24It feels like somebody's going to go up and get one.
06:28And somebody thought one of those needy quarterbacks will be drafting Arch Manning,
06:31who probably is going to go back to Austin, Texas, but they got a monster game this weekend,
06:35Joe.
06:36Taking a look on the 28th.
06:38Is that a Friday?
06:39Yes, Friday at 730.
06:40Oh, man.
06:41You got some good football action this weekend.
06:44A&M already probably punched their ticket into the college football playoff.
06:48Texas looking to throw a wrench into those things if they can get a victory,
06:51but probably not going to take place.
06:53A&M is a road favorite, though, in Austin at two and a half, Joe.
06:56That's interesting there.
06:57It is.
06:58Yeah.
06:59Well, listen, this is all about Texas having an opportunity to be the only three-loss team
07:05that makes the college football playoff.
07:08A convincing win here would make it very interesting here for at-large bids, Donnie,
07:15and who gets in and who gets out.
07:18We always – we've said it for weeks.
07:20They knew it.
07:21We knew it.
07:22It didn't matter if you beat Georgia or not.
07:24It matters whether or not you beat Texas A&M because if you do, then, yeah,
07:29we might get a little more chaos involved here over the next couple of weeks.
07:33Ryan Day won a championship last year for Ohio State.
07:37He also lost to Michigan.
07:38So it's almost like, well, how do we win a national championship and lose to Michigan?
07:41Well, that's the new playoff structure.
07:42Usually you lose that Michigan game, you're out, you can't make it because it's the last
07:45game of the season, you can't afford to take a loss.
07:47Ohio State taking on that team up north and will travel up north as double-digit favorites
07:53at most outlets right now.
07:55And look at that total, 44 and a half.
07:58Defense, defense, and more defense.
08:00That's a noon kickoff on Saturday, Joe.
08:0227 degrees at kickoff.
08:05How about that?
08:05That's football weather.
08:07You know, and the reality is here, Donnie, this game is way more important to Michigan
08:14from a college football player perspective.
08:18Ohio State's already in.
08:19They're, they just like last, they're already in.
08:22Doesn't matter if they win this game or done.
08:23There's nothing on the line outside of bragging rights here, right?
08:27If Michigan wins this game, there is no way Michigan does not make it into the college
08:34football playoff as a two-loss team.
08:36I'm telling you right now, more chaos could be coming.
08:39I know.
08:40We need that chaos here.
08:41Auburn, Alabama, Iron Bowl, only a five and a half point number here.
08:46Alabama, right for the upset, Joe?
08:49No, no.
08:51Auburn's terrible.
08:52But this game, we've seen this over the years, Donnie.
08:54Just anything is possible here.
08:57This game is crazy.
08:58Anything is possible!
09:01As Kevin Garnett once said at that point.
09:03I told you yesterday, I had a little, you know, notorious B.I.G. on the screen here.
09:13Gave us a win in Brooklyn.
09:15Hey, they were getting 14, lost by 13.
09:17Ba-bing!
09:18Joe went out to the West Coast last night and said, you should be laying set.
09:20Don't worry about the touchdown.
09:21Lay the seven and a half at light juice.
09:23You'll be just fine with the Niners.
09:25Ba-bing!
09:25That's a winner, Joe.
09:26Where are we going tonight?
09:27Well, tonight we're going to go back to football in the final game of the 49 straight days of football in the MAAC Conference.
09:38And I'm going with Western Michigan.
09:40A win will send the Broncos to Detroit, where they'll have an opportunity to win a conference championship here.
09:49And this was six and a half.
09:51It's now seven and a half.
09:52And I agree here.
09:53You've got the number one defense in the MAAC.
09:57I have cash tickets with this Western Michigan team all year long.
10:01They have a great running game.
10:02They're going up against an Eastern Michigan team that can't stop the run.
10:07They want to run the ball, but you're not running on this Western Michigan defense.
10:12They get turnovers.
10:13They're very well coached.
10:15They're at home.
10:16With a chance to go to the MAAC title game,
10:18I'll lay the seven and a half with Western Michigan tonight.
