to be prospective candidates for the upcoming THA election, for the Tobago People's Party.
This as the TPP concluded its 3 day screening process shortly after midnight on Tuesday.

All nominees expressed confidence in the screening process when they spoke to TV6'S Elizabeth Williams. More in this report.

00:00First nominee to be screened was teamer director Alan Stewart.
00:05There is another thing that I mention as it relates to representation.
00:10And it's that it has to do with persons who cannot make noise for themselves.
00:16And therefore it is necessary that we, as politicians, bring ourselves to a standard
00:24where we can truly represent the weak and the downtrodden
00:27and they get an effective representation.
00:31Screenings took place at the Shaw Park Complex with much fanfare,
00:35music trucks, balloons, flags, carpet rollout with high energy from supporters.
00:40Three former police officers were also screened for the electoral districts
00:44of Scarborough, Mount Grace, Mount St. George Goodwood and Mason Hall, Mariah.
00:49I would have served within the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service
00:56for the past 28 years.
00:59And I know my record, my track record.
01:02As they say, a thousand Frenchmen can be wrong.
01:05And the population in Tobago alone knows the kind of service
01:09that I would have provided for them.
01:11You're a former police officer.
01:13What plans do you have to bring to the table in terms of your electoral district?
01:18Well, one of the things that every district, you know, would have that challenge with
01:24is safety and security.
01:27And my community, of course, is not outside of the challenge of criminality.
01:36But one of the areas that I've seen we can start to work to deal and bring back the community
01:43is our young people.
01:44We have a lot of young men who are unemployed.
01:47As a former officer, what do you plan to bring to the table if chosen for this electoral district?
01:56First, what I will want to do is to bridge the gap between the old and the young.
02:00In doing so, the youth, there will be discussions from the youth
02:08and there will be less fear from the elders about the youth getting into their space.
02:16Assemblyman Trevor James, Ian Pollard and Pastor Terence Baines
02:20all expressed confidence after being screened.
02:24The party has put together a process that is intended to select the best candidates.
02:29And I think tonight is just another day in the process.
02:33And we are hopeful and waiting to see where the final results are.
02:38We are confident that, of course, I will be the candidate.
02:42And we wait.
02:44How would you rank your stewardship?
02:46Scale of 1 to 10.
02:49Well, I don't rank myself.
02:50I think the people have spoken and the people feel that I am 10 or plus 10.
02:55Why should you be chosen again?
02:57To continue the good works that I have started.
02:59Exactly.
03:07How would you regard your stewardship, General?
03:10On a scale of 1 to 10?
03:1220.
03:128.5.
03:16Because I always say, like, I don't tell the screening committee.
03:20Lack of financing and the evilness of the PNM for the last few years
03:25caused us to be in the situation we are.
03:27Continent as one can be, you can't be arrogant,
03:30but you hope, my hope is that my work and how I operate speaks for itself.
03:37The list with the confirmed candidates for the Tobago People's Party
03:42will be issued by the party soon.
