00:55Screening will be exciting. We are looking at beginning screening next week and across a two-week period because we have a large number of people to interview.
01:07The action groups will receive by Friday their notice and their paperwork to do the assessment of the nominees in their area.
01:16Mr. Augustine, speaking on a Tobago morning show on Wednesday, explained the process further.
01:22They will send those up to the political leader who will have those given to the screening committee who will do an assessment, do an interview,
01:31and then make a recommendation to the political leader on which way they think we should go.
01:35The political leader, based on the Constitution, has a final say, has a say in it, but I tend not to veto.
01:43I tend to send back to the community if I'm not satisfied that we have a winning candidate.
01:50Augustine said he expects a clean fight, as the party's secret to winning has been the ability to listen to the people.
01:57We want clean fights across the districts to indicate that ultimately the people in our districts, the people in our villages decide.
02:08I listen to them carefully. I listen to what they have and what they want out of governance and leadership in their community.
02:19The PNM-Tobago Council previously completed their screening of nominees and will in time reveal the party's slate of prospective candidates.
02:37The PDP, IDA and Unity of the People will also roll out their slate of candidates.
