00:09The service says it has been in constant communication with the Elections and Boundaries Commission
00:14and is confident that officers have all the necessary information to perform their duties effectively.
00:21We also had the level of training that our officers, we can say at this time, have gone through,
00:28which would speak to any form of de-escalation tactics that might be needed
00:34because we know the political climate and atmosphere is very tense even at this time
00:41and therefore the necessary training, our officers, we have ensured that our officers have gone through that level of training
00:49so we are prepared for that.
00:52The police service says it will take a zero-tolerance approach to anyone attempting to disrupt the electoral process.
01:00The TDPS is also working alongside the Defence Force to maintain law and order.
01:05In the lead-up to the election, officers met with campaign managers to remind them of the legal guidelines.
01:11Deputy Commissioner Kurt Simon is urging all political parties and their supporters
01:16to review and to respect the rules and regulations.
01:21We look at the prohibition of employment of bands and music.
01:25That means you are not allowed, to Antibagos, you're the public,
01:27you're not allowed to hire anyone to play any music on election day in terms of big song systems and so on.
01:36And you are not allowed also to play that type of loud music from that DJ set-up system,
01:44as you would call it, on election day, on polling day.
