00:02Trinbago Knight Riders are getting ready to defend their Republic Bank CPL title with their opening match taking place on
00:06August 8th against St. Kitts and Nebus Patriots in St. Vincent. Part of the squad is champion spinner Akeel Hussain,
00:12who's raring to go.
00:14Excited and ready. I think we're ready. Ready to pick up where we left off. Defendant champions. So we know
00:20most teams are going to be coming hard at us. All teams I should say will be coming hard at
00:24us. So exciting season ahead.
00:26This year we'll see the Queen's Park Oval hosting all the five matches of the Trinidad leg. Since the North
00:31-based venue missed out in 2025, Hussain says it's refreshing that the fans will be heading to St. Clairport of
00:38Spain for the excitement.
00:39The Oval is my homegrown. I play for Queen's Park Cricket Club. So I don't think it's any strange or
00:46unfamiliar territory for us, even though we haven't been there for a couple of years. You know, we look forward
00:51to it. It's been exciting.
00:53It's always a sea of red when we turn up to the Oval. So yeah, we're looking forward to the
00:58fans coming out and give us that support. And we're looking forward to just bringing back Cricket to the Oval
01:03and having some success on that venue as well.
01:06Last week, there were massive lines outside the Queen's Park Oval for CPL tickets. Hussain is hoping that the process
01:12could be smoother in future to make life easier for those attending.
01:15You know, deep down inside, it's lovely to see that, you know, people turning up at 2 o'clock, 3
01:21o'clock in the morning lineup to get tickets to come and show us that love and support and watch
01:28us play and represent them.
01:29It means a lot. Yes, it was unfortunate. It wasn't the smoothest process.
01:34And to the organisers and whoever is handling that specific area, I hope, you know, they do better because these
01:40fans love and support us.
01:42So get out of bed 3, 4 in the morning. That's true dedication. And, you know, we want to show
01:47them that same dedication when we go on the field as well.
01:50The first match at the Queen's Park Oval is on August 26th, with the last one on September 2nd at
01:55that venue.
