00:02Having lost the second test to Pakistan by eight wickets inside four days at the Queen's Park Oval,
00:06the West Indies had to settle for a 1-1 outcome in the two-match series.
00:11Home team captain Rostin Chase was extremely disappointed following the loss,
00:14saying the wicket was different to that in Teruba.
00:17I don't want to say we misread the pitch, but we didn't think that it was going to spin as
00:20much from so early.
00:22So I think that that is where the problem came in.
00:25And also my injury, I think that we thought I would have been able to bowl a lot more,
00:31but rushing back from the injury a bit too quickly and I was still in some pain in terms of
00:37bowling.
00:38So I think that was a bit of a dilemma for us.
00:41Unlike the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, where the West Indies Pacers took all 20 wickets,
00:46left-arm spinner Jamel Warican did a damage with six scalps in the first innings in Port of Spain.
00:51As such, Chase was hoping for a different wicket at the Queen's Park Oval.
00:55Obviously with a bowling attack like ours, strength is in the pace bowling.
01:01I would have liked obviously a bit more grass and something a bit more advantageous to the fast bowlers,
01:08but we didn't get that and we saw it from even before the game started,
01:13so we knew what was in front of us,
01:15but I would have still liked to have a pitch that would have assisted the fast bowlers a bit more.
01:21The West Indies scored 344 runs in the first innings, but capitulated for 117 when batting again.
01:28So the question is, was it due to poor short selection in the second innings?
01:32I can't say the short selection was off or anything like that.
01:36I just think that we didn't really apply ourselves well enough.
01:40We had some soft dismissals, but I wouldn't say anyone went out there playing rash strokes or anything like that.
01:47And I have to give credit to the Pakistan bowlers as well.
01:51I thought that they were very consistent in their lines and lengths on the wicket.
01:55Whatever the case, Chase is satisfied with the way the batters have been performing of late.
01:59Unlike the previous World Test Championship cycle, the Windy's batters have been scoring more centuries.
02:04I think that the batting is really stepping up to the plate now because for these past two series,
02:10we've gotten over 300 runs in, I think every first innings that we batted.
02:15That's not something that we usually do.
02:17We usually tend to average around 220, 250 maybe,
02:22but one thing that we really stress on is trying to get that 300 total,
02:27and we've been doing that consistently.
02:28So it's now just for us to consistently do it over two innings.
02:34Just for the record, the 1-1 tie with Pakistan means that the men in Maroon are now undefeated
02:39in two straight series at home.
