00:00hey guys welcome back in the past once again this is your host and again with
00:04today's video gonna be doing yet another movie review okay now today we're gonna
00:11be reviewing the much anticipated hyped up explosive Godzilla vs Kong movie now
00:22if you guys don't know this movie has been in the works for about probably 10
00:26years at this point I'm going as far as back to the reboot of Godzilla all the
00:32way back in 2014 which was briefly followed up by a reboot of Kong with Kong
00:39Skull Island and then more recently King of the Monsters its own shared universe
00:47called the monster verse and it's not really as withstanding as DC and MCU
00:53honestly it's very small but it's straight to the point right you have got
00:58to make his debut then you have gone make it if you can you have got to forget to
01:03follow and then you have this and big question is is it worth it you know after
01:09all the hype and all anticipation or the dread all the building up from the past
01:17movies to here in this country level says go lives up to expectations and you know the
01:25answer to this is not so simple you know like compared to the DC and Marvel where you
01:34look at Batman vs Superman or Civil War those movies are easily answered questions and
01:41like this you know it's you can tell those are yes one knows but here this movie is
01:48not that simple because the first time I start off with the movie itself and that
01:57is the plot for this movie I'm not gonna lie it will kind of underwhelming in a bit
02:03a sentence and I get to them let me just give you a rundown of the movie it will be
02:10directed by Adam Wingard but he is the latest director attached to the monster
02:16verse films I'll say this though he did a better job than I expected director wise if
02:23you remember this director he does not have the best of track records particularly with
02:29another live action in the past that did terrible but here he actually he does his
02:37job as a director so I'm not gonna find out I was going to say it's more to do with this
02:43script the plot story and here's the deal okay the plot is basically as this in simple
02:53terms Kong he's big they they have to stop because I go on a rampage so they use
03:01Kong to go find a weapon to fight Godzilla and then shit goes down and that's
03:09pure the simplest way to explain the plot and I will give them credit where it's
03:14due the human characters in this movie are actually much more tolerable than it was
03:18in the past movies do you have Millie Bobby Brown's character and Kyle Chandler you
03:25know from king of the monsters their characters make every a return here as
03:30well as newcomer characters from I'd scan scan scan scan one that I was more
03:40impressed by buying tea and me I think he was probably a standout in this movie but
03:48yes nonetheless you have these new characters I'm sorry if you current
03:52characters you also have this little girl who was like she's deaf so you have to
03:59play up with her using Santa to interact with people and interact with Kong and she
04:05is like a little thing for Kong to communicate with the humans I'd say that
04:12that little girl she did good being a child actor she she did good putting away a deaf
04:20character okay now let's let's get into what was good and what was bad about this movie
04:26first off I'll say this movie was definitely a better experience than
04:31King of the Monsters both from the technical standpoint and from the story
04:37the reason why I say technical standpoint first is because the the CG in this movie it's it's more
04:46easier to to experience it's not too dark there's a lot of color in this it's not
04:53overly saturated color and there's a lot of light a lot of bright daytime shots for
05:00the suju to to stand out you know the creatures are well rendered all the fight sequences looks well
05:08done even though this movie if it's compared to King of the Monsters and the Passways it's not as
05:15expensive as those so they did a good job managing a small slightly small budget I guess yes technically it
05:23looks better and from the other aspect there's more to do with if the movie is entertaining which
05:30this movie was that's why I would give this a upside over King of the Monsters right which is the last
05:36recent months of this movie that people did not like that much but here it does its job it normally is
05:44no it's not trying to like stand or do something more artistic or anything like that sort of way
05:54you know it's full-on action and it gets right into it however with that I still can't help but feel
06:03slightly underwhelmed from the fact that there was so much more that could have been done with this movie
06:09like for example when it came to what was being set up from the monster was like from Kong Skull Island and
06:20then King of the Monsters these creatures they had a lot of backstory you know Skull Island was they
06:27give you a lot of explanation on the island and these creatures and their past and King of the Monsters
06:35they did the same where you see all these different creatures and you get a glimpse of these creatures
06:42especially towards the end of that movie you remember seeing Godzilla and all those creatures together
06:47all these big powerful monsters interacting with each other it really wows you on AMC up like oh this
06:56looks pretty cool you want to see more of this right but the problem is you don't see anything like that
07:02in this movie you know it's all of that build up is just excluded from this movie there's nothing here
07:10that builds up it's just this happens and then this happens and you know for a lot of people it's that's
07:18probably gonna be okay more than enough for them and they just came to see the fight and just to get
07:23entertained they don't want anything extra anything more than that but for me someone who is actively
07:30interested in the lore and seeing more of where it goes I can never feel that down because expecting
07:37to see more of that like these other creatures and monarch and you know as interested in seeing
07:43Godzilla or Kong interact with these creatures or like they give you more of that side of this
07:50universe not that I'm saying I'm all too disappointed over what we got because if I said this movie it's
07:59not not trying to overstep where it is it recognizes that okay this is a action movie it's doing there's
08:11something simple and straight to the point as I said I felt that it could have done more with it
08:17especially in fact in the long time this movie's on the two hours which is something I've noticed in
08:24more and more recently but this movie is on the two hours as opposed to the previous installments in
08:31the monsterverse which is have been over two hours couldn't help but notice that there was something I
08:40was missing in this movie like I'll start off with the most obvious example and that is the introduction
08:47this movie starts off with Kong waking up you know you see him interacting with this little death girl that I
08:55mentioned earlier so this is where they start to introduce you to the new characters but you see him throw his
09:01jetty down to the tree at the sky and it hits a wall some sort of like electric wall before it shuts off and then you you know it
09:11it pans out and it shows you oh there's this in this facility Kong was in this sort of like fake skull island facility for some reason and the movie explains you that he was put there well there's not really a
09:28a complete explanation but it gives you a brief wonder that he was there and that they can't keep him there long enough because he getting too big and he's gonna want to break out and no they don't want him to go and fight Godzilla because Godzilla might kill him that's what they do they're trying to protect him from Godzilla okay and nothing is inherently wrong with that being the basic premise for the movie and it's a good way to start off but the
09:58problem with it is interesting if you remember the past movies Kong was on the island at the end of skull head right so when you get from that to this movie from Kong perspective that to this movie how the hell does he ends up in this facility like it couldn't help but felt like there was something there like a gap in between what happened in the past movies and here that
10:27was probably either not shot not filmed they didn't write it in or it was just probably aired out in the editing room but it felt like there was a gap there they could have like wasn't addressed you know properly
10:40and it could have been really more interesting there because like to see how these guys caught Kong and I actually kept in here for so long in this facility and then there's the fact that
10:56they hardly do this without Godzilla knowing about it because you know Godzilla could like he could sense when Kong is on the move
11:03as the point of the movie and he could go after him that's what happens in the first fight because there's two fights between him and Godzilla
11:11and the first fight Godzilla was able to sense where he was and he he went after him so yeah I just felt like that was probably the probably biggest flaw in this movie
11:22because it playing at the back of my mind and it stood out to me and I just couldn't really get I get over that one thing at the beginning
11:30alright then there's a fact that I mentioned earlier you know this movie with the stuff that was being built up in a monster was I was expecting
11:39more like to do story where there's a little lower on the characters not the human character but with the actual monsters
11:47and it didn't really work for that so yeah like I said at the beginning you know it passes as a really good entertaining move to watch
11:58but it just doesn't really do anything more than that if you like a monster was fine and you're looking for something extra it doesn't
12:07really do anything like that
12:10so yeah I'm overwhelmed I'm gonna sum this up Godzilla was just gonna graduate this a 7.2
12:20H out of 10 you know despite all the criticism that I had this movie it was still good it was still entertaining movies nonetheless
12:29it delivered on that aspect you know where the previous movies failed it delivered on those aspects
12:36it's just when it comes to the other stuff that I was looking forward to that in my opinion is what kept me from actually rating it above the other movies
12:47right and to answer the lumen question of the monster was this sadly isn't the best in the monster was that title still goes to Kongs
12:58but that is my opinion of this film and this series
13:10let me know what you guys think in the comment section down below though
13:14have you guys seen Godzilla vs Kong do you like it do you hate it do you think it live up to expectations or do you think it could have been done better
