00:00That's a good place to begin is a big announcement made by arguably one of the two sports betting operators that you may be familiar with, even if you don't bet, FanDuel, DraftKings.
00:09Well, FanDuel making the announcement yesterday that they're going to launch their event contracts joint venture with CME in December.
00:17So that means prediction markets are coming to the FanDuel app.
00:20It will be called FanDuel Predicts, and the intention is that all the markets, legal or not legal with sports betting, will provide sport event contracts where states don't have it legally.
00:32So they are now involved, just like all of the other companies like Kalshi and some of the others, Crypto.com, Robinhood, sports betting contracts, called predictions and prediction markets, not sports betting, FanDuel's taking advantage.
00:47But there's one place that they will not be able to, and that is in Las Vegas, because FanDuel and DraftKings are not allowed to offer sports betting in Nevada anytime soon as they want to get into the prediction markets.
01:02Here's the issue.
01:03The Nevada Gaming Control Board said yesterday they accepted the surrender of Flutter's order of registration as well as their licenses and approvals because they're getting into this business.
01:12It also granted administrative approval for requests for withdrawal of all active and pending applications for FanDuel and DraftKings.
01:21So let me break it down for you.
01:22FanDuel and DraftKings want to get in the prediction markets, and in order to do that, in the state of Nevada, they can't offer sports betting.
01:29And so they're choosing to get out, the one state probably that they don't do as well in, because, of course, sports betting has been around in Las Vegas for a really long time.
01:38Well, Las Vegas has set the odds tonight, right?
01:40Patriots, 12.5-point favorites on Thursday Night Football.
01:44That's where we stand, folks.
01:45Total 43.5.
01:47They'll kick off 8-15 Eastern.
01:48It's an Amazon Prime game.
01:50If you're thinking about the Jets winning this game outright, your $100 bet could get you $640 if you're feeling bold.
01:58Jets and Patriots tonight.
01:59Will we see Brock Purdy back this week for the San Francisco 49ers?
02:03Certainly seems possible.
02:05Back at practice, they're taking a more aggressive approach.
02:08They play at Arizona this week, although Mac Jones has done a nice job filling in.
02:13They can't afford to lose more divisional games.
02:15This is one of them.
02:16Here's Kyle Shanahan on the potential return of Purdy.
02:19We haven't seen practice, obviously.
02:21How has he looked as far as his mobility, accuracy?
02:25You know, how's he looked?
02:27I think each week it's gotten better with Lassie being the best.
02:30I mean, each week has been different.
02:32So if he takes a big step forward this week, like he did last week, he should have a good chance to play.
02:38Hard decision to make, given how well Mac Jones would play?
02:41No, it's not a hard decision.
02:42It's just more about Brock's health.
02:44It's been awesome how Mac's played.
02:45He's been great.
02:47But we've got a lot of confidence in Brock.
02:49And we know Brock will play at a high level, too, as long as he's healthy.
02:51It certainly appears as though J.J. McCarthy will start for the Vikings this week, although he's been limited at practice.
02:58In case you missed it, last week he bruised his throwing hand in the game against the Ravens.
03:04It happened in the third quarter, so naturally reporters are asking him if he's good to go this week.
03:09How's the hand feeling?
03:10Feels good.
03:11Yeah, it feels really good.
03:12Getting a lot of treatment in the last few days, and will continue to do so, but it's feeling good.
03:16Did it change how you throw or the weight?
03:18Anything about how you go about things?
03:20I definitely felt it, for sure.
03:23You know, ripped one in there pretty good to Jets and hit a helmet.
03:26So, you know, you're going to be feeling it the rest of the way, but there's no excuses at all.
03:31Got to find ways to, you know, adapt and make sure the ball gets to the receiver.
03:35Well, like, you know, if you get your hand slammed in a car door, it's going to feel different for, you know, everything you do with that hand.
03:43So, you know, there's no excuses whatsoever at the end of the day.
03:46You know, we're warriors, and we've got to push through.
03:48Green Bay Packers not going to make any changes, at least initially, to their offensive game plan.
03:55They've had a hard time scoring, and Matt LaFleur has seen it happen.
03:59Seven points against the Eagles, 13 against the Panthers.
04:02At his weekly press conference, LaFleur says he'll still call plays for the team.
04:06A lot of self-inflicted just mistakes, you know, whether it's false starts.
04:15We had a couple of legal formations.
04:19You know, every individual's got a responsibility on every play.
04:26And if you're not clean, if one guy's not clean, they can go to crap.
04:33So, unfortunately, we haven't been clean enough, I think, consistently enough as an offense, because we've done some decent things.
04:41I mean, I look at some of our ability to move the chains on third down.
04:46It's been pretty good.
04:48Unfortunately, we've put ourselves in some tough situations over the last two weeks where, you know, we just haven't been able to score points.
04:58A potential preview of the NFC Championship is also on deck this week as the Lions take on the Philadelphia Eagles.
05:06Once again, the tush-push part of the conversation going into the game.
05:10Head coach of the Lions, Dan Campbell, not having any of it.
05:13Not one of those guys that says it should go away.
05:16Says Philadelphia has innovated it and deserves to keep it.
05:20I don't know.
05:20I don't.
05:21Well, here's why.
05:21I'm a purist, man.
05:22You take something else out of the game, then we're taking the next thing out of the game.
05:26Then you're taking another thing out of the game.
05:27And then pretty soon, we don't have pads anymore.
05:30And then pretty soon, you're only playing 30 minutes.
05:32And then pretty soon, it's, you know, so that's why I don't want to take it out of the game.
05:37There's a, you know, it's something.
05:41A team's got a niche.
05:42They found something.
05:43They're good at it.
05:43And it's for everybody else to stop.
05:45And it's unique.
05:48And it's physical.
05:49And I just, more than anything, I just don't want to take anything else out of the game.
05:54You know, I just want to leave the game alone.
05:56That's me.
05:57Let's get over to the National Basketball Association, where the hottest team in the league continues to be the defending champions.
06:03Another easy win for Oklahoma City, defeating the Lakers 121-92.
06:09They were up 36 points in this game in the third quarter.
06:13As the Thunder are 12-1 on the year.
06:17Shea Gilgis-Alexander, 30 points.
06:19Nine assists said the game plan before the game was executed in the victory.
06:24Yeah, we made multiple efforts.
06:29And I thought, for the most part, we, like, really honed in on the game plan, which is obviously trying to make it tough on Haluka and Harivs.
06:37I think we did a pretty good job tonight controlling those guys.
06:43And not only controlling their scoring, but controlling their, like, playmaking in general.
06:47They generate a lot of offense, a lot of points beyond just scoring, like I said.
06:53And they were pretty contained all night.
06:55So we did a pretty good job there.
06:56And then it just trickles down to everything else.
06:59Steph Curry had 46 points for the Golden State Warriors last night.
07:03Double overtime victory as 125-120 was the final.
07:09Actually, regular season victory, not overtime victory.
07:12Also, the Magic hand.
07:13The Knicks, their first home loss of the season.
07:16124-107.
07:18Desmond Bain, with a big shot earlier in the week, had 22 points.
07:21The Knicks lost Jalen Brunson to injury in this game.
07:24No word yet how long he'll be out.
07:26We will see.
07:27But Mike Brown, after the game, not happy to see his guys chirping at the refs.
07:30But the thing that I was most disappointed in was in the first half,
07:35everything that happened on the court, we blamed the officials.
07:42And that was disappointing to see.
07:46Because we were the culprits of a lot of stuff that happened out on the floor.
07:51Six of their first eight points came from the free throw line.
07:57And we fouled them.
07:59I couldn't even use a challenge because we were fouling.
08:03And if one of our keys is to play physical without fouling, but our first, the first six points,
08:14or the first three or four possessions that they have start at the free throw line,
08:19then we're not giving ourselves a chance.
08:22And we're letting them feel comfortable with the way that they play.
