00:00But let's get started with the big news in sports betting, and it appears that FanDuel could be following suit just like Calci and Robinhood.
00:07You may remember the story we brought to you yesterday here on the show that Calci and Robinhood are now providing different options or what they're calling investments on sports, but not in a betting fashion.
00:19They're just basically calling it something different.
00:21Well, now FanDuel is making their way into the prediction market, and they're allowing outcomes on the S&P 500, NASDAQ 100, oil and gas, gold, and predictions on cryptocurrencies.
00:36Now, as of now, that's not sports.
00:38But if FanDuel does get involved in that, it could literally break everything that we know about sports betting here in the United States.
00:45We also don't know if Calci is going to be able to operate, of course, going forward in the future as the CFTC takes a look at their potential options and problems as well.
00:56But it looks like FanDuel wants to jump in the bucket as well.
00:59Once upon a time, we thought we would never be able to bet on anything except for sports outcomes, and now definitely predictions on cryptocurrency prices and gold, et cetera.
01:07FanDuel getting ready to offer that as well.
01:09Okay, close call for Andy Reid, a story that just was reported recently that a lot of folks didn't even know.
01:15Back in 2024, Andy Reid was in his office, and he was working alone, and apparently there was a stray bullet that he was sitting 15 feet away from where the bullet hit.
01:27The shot was fired from outside the chief's facility in Kansas City.
01:30It went through a wall, and yeah, I mean, it almost hit Andy Reid.
01:34That's kind of crazy.
01:35He now has bulletproof glass protecting him in the office.
01:39All three gunshots struck the facility that night.
01:42No one was injured, and there also was no indication of a targeted incident.
01:48But, man, this could have been devastating had this happened.
01:51So, Andy Reid, boy, I don't know why this came out, by the way, this week.
01:54This happened last year.
01:55Okay, injuries in the NFL.
01:58Never want to see this, and Lamar Jackson was at practice.
02:01He had his foot stepped on yesterday.
02:03There was some panic initially.
02:04He left practice 40 minutes early.
02:07There were a lot of people worried about it, but it looks like he's okay and going to be able to practice later this week into next week.
02:12Also, the 49ers, another loss.
02:14With all these injuries they have to wide receiver, this is the last guy they could afford to lose.
02:18Demarcus Robinson suspended three games.
02:21According to Kyle Shanahan, he had a misdemeanor DUI charge.
02:24Jawan Jennings is hurt, of course.
02:26They've got a ton of issues at wide receiver.
02:28Meanwhile, Cam Ward getting ready to make his NFL debut, in case you missed it earlier this week, got into a little scuffle with arguably the best defensive lineman in the NFL in Jeffrey Simmons.
02:37And he talked about the experience of getting involved in a fight with someone 200 pounds heavier than him and said it was not fun.
02:45Did I learn anything from it?
02:50Jeff's strongest, I would say.
02:55It was fun at the same time.
02:58And I think it was what we needed, though.
03:00I mean, we love competing, especially me, Jeff.
03:03And, you know, I'm excited to have that man as my teammate.
03:06And so, I mean, I can't wait to see what he do.
03:08You know, Sundays, I already know what he's about, but I get to see the real thing coming soon.
03:11Have y'all kidded about that since?
03:13What's the conversation been like post-scuffle, if that's what you're going to call it?
03:17Well, that's me and Jeff's relationship.
03:19I wake up, I get here, he's damn near the first one I'm ready to talk to.
03:23So, he's the first one who come in my head every day of practice.
03:28So, he lets me know.
03:29And so, you know, I'm excited to have him as my teammate.
03:31I mean, I think the biggest thing about Jeff is that he goes hard every play.
03:35Y'all get a chance to sit out here and practice.
03:37And he's somebody who you look up to as a young guy because of how hard they work, you know,
03:42on and off the field in a community that Jeff does.
03:44But he's a great team player.
03:46He's a great teammate.
03:48And I'm just excited to, you know, I'm not the one getting hit by him.
03:53New York Jets signed a couple of players as well, defensive players.
03:56They signed Harrison Phillips and Joe Juan Briggs, defensive tackles.
03:59Also, by the way, quick note, just to update on the Ravens practice today.
04:03Lamar Jackson not practicing.
04:04Still a couple of weeks.
04:05So, first game of the season.
04:06Meanwhile, maybe now we know why Kyle Tucker has struggled so much in this first baseball season with the Chicago Cubs.
04:13Apparently, he had a fracture in his right hand.
04:17And that has affected him since the month of June, which does add up considering he hasn't done anything since the summer began in June and July.
04:25Now they're giving him a few days off, although Tucker is apparently fully healthy.
04:31Very complex issue here, it seems like, with Tucker.
04:33But here's Craig Council on the dynamics.
04:36Yeah, I mean, I think that's kind of out there.
04:40He injured his hand in a slide.
04:43Initial x-rays were negative.
04:47Sat out a day.
04:49I think we had an off day.
04:50Sat out a day.
04:51Pinch hit the next day.
04:53And then he was kind of sore, but good to go.
04:59You know, he was sore for a little while, but was able to play.
05:05We did some more imaging, and it showed a small fracture that was healing.
05:11And, you know, that's it.
05:13Is it possible that this has caused, kind of like, through the playing through it, changed some things?
05:24Yeah, absolutely.
05:26I think it's probably likely that at some point that happened.
05:31But he, you know, he wanted to play.
05:35Cubs have jumped back into the race, by the way.
05:39Thought they were out of it.
05:41They beat Milwaukee three games in a row.
05:43They'll play today at 2.20 Eastern.
05:45They beat the Brewers for their third straight game.
05:47Bit of a surprise, considering one team was going one direction and one team the other.
05:524-3 the final.
05:55As they'll get ready to wrap up the series,
05:57here's Christian Yelich on the struggles the Brewers have had, which have been rare.
06:01Who cares?
06:04Play the games, right?
06:05You're going to win some, you're going to lose some.
06:07You've got to compete.
06:08Like, you're going to lose.
06:10It's how you lose is what matters.
06:13Like, you know, if we were doing a bunch of stuff wrong,
06:17if we weren't competing the right way,
06:18if you're feeling sorry for yourself, that's one thing.
06:20If you're competing really hard,
06:22and you're fighting, and you're putting good swings on balls,
06:25you're, you know, you're doing the things that you need to be doing,
06:28and you still lose.
06:30That's the sport, right?
06:31Like, it's a lot of things in baseball are out of your control.
06:36You know, you can do everything right in this game and not be rewarded for it.
06:40You know, I'm happy with the way that we're competing.
06:44Are things not going our way right now?
06:46Sure.
06:46But that was coming.
06:48Like, we knew that was coming.
06:49Told you guys that was coming, you know.
06:52How this sport works.
06:55And nobody's panicking.
06:57I know that would be a good narrative,
06:58and that would be, like, a cool thing to have out there.
07:02Like, just being full panic after losing three losses.
07:05Like, yeah.
07:06Very good team.
07:07So are we.
07:09Padres seem to be a good team,
07:11except for when they're playing the Dodgers.
07:12They take care of the Giants yesterday 8-1.
07:14Manny Machado, Ryan O'Hearn hit home runs.
07:17Josh Bell, homer, drove in two runs.
07:19Nationals beat the Mets 5-4.
07:21As far as the Yankees are concerned, a little bit of a roller coaster yesterday.
07:25Cam Schlittler took a perfect game into the seventh inning.
07:28Giancarlo Stanton also hit a pinch-hit two-run home run in the 10th.
07:32That gave the Yankees a 6-4 win,
07:35although Devin Williams a little shaky there yet again, but got out of it.
07:38All right, Pirates take two out of three from the Blue Jays.
07:41Two-to-one win.
07:42Tommy Pham, a couple of runs driven in.
07:44And don't look now,
07:44but the Tigers completed a three-game sweep against a team
07:47that they may have to face off with to get to the World Series.
07:51Tigers win 7-2.
07:53Charlie Morton, eight strikeouts in six innings pitch.
