00:00So let's get started here and talk about some non-sports betting stories in the sense that is it betting or not?
00:06I can't figure this out because these prediction markets you may be familiar with called Calci or Robinhood that are offering different what we would call predictions and investments on sports are taking a huge, huge risk here in terms of battling with the National Football League.
00:23As the league has made it clear that trading on sports event contracts through prediction markets and not sports betting is considered a form of sports betting and they're prohibiting this for all league personnel.
00:36This is for specifically websites like Calci or Robinhood.
00:40You may be familiar with crypto.com essentially are offering ways to put money down on outcomes that they claim are not sports betting.
00:50The NFL has also reached out to the Commodities Future Trade Commission, otherwise known as the CFTC, and are looking into work with regulators and sports books to limit betting on high risk markets such as player injuries or easily manipulated outcomes.
01:05No surprise that this is coming from the NFL that has partnerships with the sports betting companies, not yet with the prediction markets.
01:13Meanwhile, if you're getting ready to watch some of the big games on Saturday in college football, very specifically Texas and Ohio State, and you have YouTube TV, boy, are you a little bit nervous right now because Fox and YouTube TV, they have a carriage dispute ahead of the college football season.
01:31And if they don't reach a deadline by 5 p.m. Eastern tomorrow, if you have YouTube TV, you will not be able to watch Auburn at Baylor on Friday, Texas, Ohio State on Saturday, and who knows, would this linger into the NFL season beginning next week?
01:48Gotta get that thing figured out.
01:50We've seen this happen before, so we'll have to hope that things get resolved.
01:54Meanwhile, the NCAA and Venmo, for those of you who have used that website before, they're apt to send money to different people.
02:01They're working together to try and make sure that athletes are not harassed via Venmo.
02:08The NCAA and the Online Payment Service announced a partnership Tuesday that will potentially combat abuse and harassment of college athletes,
02:17some who have reported receiving unwanted requests for money from people who lost bets.
02:22The NCAA and Venmo partnership will feature a hotline for athletes that can report abuse and harassment, education on account security, and increased monitoring.
02:34The reporting hotline was announced on Tuesday.
02:38I can tell you this is a very easily problem solved.
02:41Folks, if you have Venmo, make your account private.
02:45The end.
02:46Cincinnati Bengals and Trey Hendrickson have reached an agreement he's going to play this season.
02:50He gets a $14 million raise, boosting his salary to $30 million going into the 2025 NFL campaign.
02:59He still will be a free agent after the season and also unrestricted, by the way.
03:04But this gets Hendrickson back in a Bengals uniform.
03:07And now it would appear Micah Parsons is the lone highly paid player to not have a contract going into the NFL season.
03:15Now, with the 53-man rosters in the National Football League set to be completed today, we've seen a number of releases and trades.
03:23The Browns have traded Kenny Pickett, solving that four-quarterback situation.
03:28He's now a member of the Las Vegas Raiders, and they get a fifth-round pick.
03:32Pickett has now played on, I believe this is his fourth team in the National Football League after just being drafted a couple of years ago.
03:38So, Amari Cooper was the lone wide receiver free agent on the market, and on the market no longer he signs a one-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders.
03:47Meanwhile, his teammate, Jacoby Myers, asked for a trade.
03:51Not sure if one thing has anything to do with the other.
03:52I guess we will see.
03:54Joe Mixon will miss the first four games of the upcoming Texans season, leaving running back duties to Nick Chubb, it looks like, to start the year.
04:02And the Browns also released veteran wide receiver Deontay Johnson, who was trying to make the club after a couple of disappointing seasons in the National Football League, one with the Carolina Panthers.
04:13The Giants have released Tommy Kotlitz, no longer a thing.
04:17Looks like Russell Wilson and, of course, Jackson Dart and Jameis Winston are in the quarterback room.
04:23And Tommy DeVito, he'll get another job.
04:25He's been cut.
04:26Greg Dolcich has been let go.
04:28He led the league in preseason touchdowns.
04:30He was also a tight end for the Giants.
04:32And Tajay Spears, the backup running back to Tony Pollard in Tennessee, was placed on injured reserve with a high ankle sprain.
04:39So he's going to miss a big chunk of the NFL season.
04:41Stay tuned, folks.
04:42A lot more cuts and a lot more trades coming ahead of this deadline.
04:46We'll break it all down for you on tomorrow's show.
04:48All right.
04:48In Major League Baseball, the 50th home run of the season for Cal Raleigh happened last night as the Mariners beat the Padres by a final score of 9-6.
04:58His pace is for over 60 home runs this season.
05:02All he's got to do is hit 10 more.
05:04Maybe even hits Maris' 61.
05:06We'll see.
05:06Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Dodgers got a big win last night and a big performance by starting pitcher Emmitt Sheehan.
05:12Seven scoreless innings to lead the Dodgers past the Reds.
05:17Here's Dave Roberts after the game talking about how the team is not searching for anything else except for wins.
05:23It does.
05:24I think it's just I think what it comes down to is the guys are just playing to win.
05:30And, you know, this time of year, that's got to be the focus.
05:33And, you know, Mookie playing fantastic shortstop and kind of freed himself up, as he said, you know, a couple weeks ago about the offensive side.
05:42And you're seeing the results.
05:44And for me, I just love the compete, the fight.
05:48And, you know, even against that lefty, he got behind the count and kept, you know, competing and got a sweeper and hit a homer.
05:54So just a great, you know, ball game on both sides of the baseball.
05:59And tonight, just, you know, from Emmitt, the way he was tonight, just attacking these guys, his stuff was really, really good tonight.
06:09And to get him through seven and all the punch that he had tonight, I thought the defense was just engaged every single guy out there.
06:17I thought the offensive at bats, you know, one through nine were great.
06:22And it's just, I mean, it's probably one of the better games, complete games that we've played in months for me.
06:29And I'm really, really excited about the way we played tonight.
06:33Mets need every win they can.
06:34They're facing off with the Phillies this week.
06:36Luis Torrens matched a career high with five RBIs.
06:39New York 13, Philadelphia 3.
06:41Meanwhile, Andrew Monasterio, Caleb Durbin hit a homerun.
06:45The Brewers beat the Diamondbacks by a final of 7-5.
06:49Brandon Woodruff pitched in this game.
06:50Amy was okay, but said it was everybody else who really came through.
06:53Yeah, it was a good night.
06:58I think way too many positives outweigh the kind of outcome of the outing.
07:04Look, the main thing is we won the game, which was huge for us.
07:10But, yeah, the sixth inning, you know, that's just one of those innings you kind of chalk up to kind of being a baseball inning.
07:17And I haven't had one of those up until this point.
07:19I was throwing the ball well and just had some things not go my way there.
07:25You know, even the hit bat, the Perdomo hit by pitch there was, you go back and look at it, it's borderline a strike call.
07:35You know, and he's just on top of the dish.
07:37That didn't go my way.
07:38And then you got the, you know, the swinging bunt and just kind of things started kind of unraveling there.
07:45And then, you know, I made one mistake in the middle of the plate and it cost me those runs.
07:49But, heck, what do you do?
07:52You like, I mean, I threw the ball extremely well.
07:54So, we got the win, which was important.
07:59And you just move on to the next one.
08:01Chalk that one up as a baseball inning and move on.
08:05Over in the American League East, not much changing.
08:07Yankees beat the Nationals 10-5.
08:09Red Sox over the Orioles 4-3.
08:11And Max Scherzer wins again.
08:13Toronto takes care of the 10-4.
08:14Toronto takes care of the 10-4.
