They're locked and loaded.

00:00They are practicing to add another regional Super 50 title to their cabinet.
00:04Despite their many victories over the years,
00:06captain of the team Joshua Da Silva says the hunger remains in the team to recapture the title again.
00:12For Trinidad and Tobago, for me it will be nice,
00:14but I know for the team and for the people of Trinidad it will be great,
00:17especially to give Coach Riyad his first title for Trinidad.
00:21So yeah, that will be awesome for us and hopefully we can do that for the people.
00:25Of the many goals that they've set forward this season,
00:28he has one main objective in mind.
00:30The only goal is to score more than them and take more wickets than them
00:32because we don't know what conditions we're going to have on the day.
00:35Playing three different venues, so we know that each venue brings a different challenge.
00:39So on the morning of the game we see what is the best combination
00:42and whatever target we think is best or if we're chasing how much we need to defend the team to.
00:48He added they have everything they need to win this tournament
00:50as they possess a balance of new and experienced players.
00:54But no, we have Jason Mohamed, we have quite a number of new players in the team as well,
01:01so relying on the experience, Jed Gouli, Tian Webster, all those guys,
01:04Brian Charles have been playing this level for quite some time.
01:07So yeah, we have the experience and we have everything that I think we need
01:11to go ahead and win this tournament.
01:12We've been having a good few games and the work ethic has been great from the guys
01:18who've played quite a number of games.
01:20We've had the four-team tournament, we've had the trial matches and now with the team selected
01:24we have some games here against the team that's going to Peru.
01:29So yeah, we've been having a good time and it's gelling well and everything is going to plan.
01:34They played their first game against Barbados on November 19th,
01:38but it's not a date that's too far away to plan for.
01:40Yeah, it's a bit early now, but we basically know the majority of the players in the system now,
01:46so it's just about fine-tuning our skills and we're knowing their weaknesses,
01:51having the meetings that we're going to have to make sure that we stick to those plans for as long as possible.
01:56Aside from representing his country, Da Silva says he also dreams of representing the West Indies
02:01in the shorter format and he will attempt to impress the Windy selectors.
02:06Yeah, I played ODI cricket back in 2021, I believe, so it's always been a goal to get back there.
02:12It seems like a tough task, but with the shortened games, I'm trying to put my hand up and score as many runs as I can.
02:19The shorter version of this tournament, it's unfortunate, but you have to make most of what we've been given.
02:27So yeah, just make the best of the opportunity and try to do the best that I can.
02:30Da Silva has played two ODIs for the Windy's and the cell selection is out of his hands.
02:35It's out of my control. I can only do what I need to do, which is play cricket.
02:39And yeah, when my opportunity comes, and if it does come, I'll hopefully take it with both hands.
02:43But yeah, there's nothing you could pinpoint. It's all up in the hands of God and whatever my journey is.
