The Trinidad and Tobago Red Force will bowl off their campaign on Wednesday against the Barbados Pride in the Regional Super50 tournament.
The matchup is set for the Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground in St. Augustine, where both teams will be looking to start their title push on the right foot.
00:00The message is clear. Jamaica will be going for the win.
00:03Coach of the Jamaican football team Stephen McLaren indicated a draw against Curaçao leaves ambiguity of automatic qualification and therefore winning is their only option.
00:14When you play for a draw or a win, you are a little bit in between and I don't think we can be in between tomorrow.
00:23We have to be front foot aggressive and go for the win. That's our mentality.
00:30So that's what we'll go for.
00:33Jamaican footballer Kaheem Dixon, who McLaren believes is the future of their sport, is prepared as well for the must win challenge.
00:41Like usual, I always prepare myself to do the right stuff on and off the pitch and that's what matters most.
00:49On the day, it will just happen naturally. You don't have to prepare for it.
00:53Once you do the right thing on and off the pitch, then it just comes naturally.
00:56The last time Jamaica played against the Curaçao, they lost 2-0.
01:01McLaren says Keto winning is starting well and this time taking their chances.
01:07Yeah, that was disappointing. We didn't start the game well.
01:10So we must start the game well tomorrow. That's a big lesson.
01:13And we had chances to win the game. Look at the stats after the game. We had more chances, more chances on target.
01:25He also indicated it's a different squad.
01:27It's a different squad. We'll be a different team. But what we've got is a hell of a good squad.
01:37Everybody's available. Everybody's fit. And we've got a good squad.
01:41So this game's over 95 minutes. Number one, we must start well.
01:45And number two, we must finish well. And that's the key to it.
01:48He says he was impressed by Curaçao based on their performance in the Gold Cup and in the World Cup qualifiers so far.
01:55As a result, they are therefore motivated to rise against what they deem a tough opponent
02:00and a fight for their own people ravaged by Hurricane Melissa.
02:03We know the offense of what that hurricane has done for many, many people on the Jamaican island.
02:12And we want to do it for them. You know, that's a message from the team.
02:18That's not necessarily a message from me. We want to do it for them.
02:22We've had messages sent to us from people in the areas that have been hit.
02:28And, you know, the message from them, at least for our week, give us a smile on our faces.
02:35At present, Jamaica is second in the group.
02:37If they do not top the group, they will be facing a battle for the playoff spot
02:41with the other second-placed teams from the other two groups, namely Panama and Haiti.
