00:00 Windy skipper Ravman Powell is pleased with his team's preparations ahead of the T20 World
00:04 Cup with the men in maroon taking on Papua New Guinea on Sunday at the Providence Stadium.
00:09 Powell believes coach Darren Samy's experience will play a big part as well.
00:13 You mentioned the fact that we have Darren Samy as our coach, a two-time World Cup winner
00:18 for the West Indies.
00:19 That should provide us with additional resources that we need when things get tight because
00:26 he has been in the position already before.
00:28 Hopefully his experience, his knowledge can spread across the group and be very fruitful
00:34 for us in this World Cup.
00:37 West Indies all-rounder Andrew Russell recently helped KKR beat Sunrisers Hyderabad to win
00:41 this year's IPL.
00:43 Regarding Russell's inclusion in the side, Powell is looking forward to Superman playing
00:47 a big role.
00:48 As it regards the team combination with Andre Russell, if Andre Russell rock up for any
00:53 international team, he would definitely slot in within the team.
00:58 So that is no surprise to see Andre automatically slot in in our team.
01:03 He comes with well-tied experience and the good thing is that he comes with additional
01:07 confidence on the back of good performances in the IPL.
01:11 So we're definitely looking forward to Andre Russell being a significant part of our World
01:17 Cup and hopefully, just hopefully, he can be a three-time World Cup champion after this
01:21 one.
01:23 The West Indies skipper sees the importance of getting off to a good start.
01:26 As such, he means business going into the clash against the fledglings.
01:30 Yeah, it's very, very important.
01:32 Any World Cup campaign you play, you want to start off with a winning note.
01:36 You want to start off with getting your feet wet, you know, from a winning perspective.
01:42 Winning drives confidence within the group and it's important for us to start on a winning
01:46 note.
01:47 So definitely that is something higher than our agenda.
01:51 So hopefully tomorrow the rain can stay away and the West Indies can play close to a pretty
01:58 good game.
01:59 Powell says it's good that USA is a co-host, which in turn should encourage youngsters
02:04 in the States to take up the sport.
