Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh – A shocking case of child marriage has surfaced after villagers caught a teenage couple meeting secretly in a forest. The incident took place in Bhagwantpur village under the Radhanagar police station area.

After catching the duo, villagers informed the girl’s family and arranged their marriage at a temple outside the village. Shockingly, a Samajwadi Party leader was present and even blessed the newlyweds as the boy applied vermillion to the girl’s forehead and exchanged garlands. The video of the ceremony went viral on social media.

Following the uproar, the district administration and Child Line team intervened. Police detained both minors and presented them before the Child Welfare Committee. On court orders, the girl was sent to a One Stop Center, while the boy was placed at the Child Line Center.

Officials are now identifying those responsible for conducting the illegal marriage. Authorities have confirmed that strict action will be taken under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006.
