A 19-year-old woman played a key role in exposing her husband, leading to his arrest for allegedly causing her mother’s death and misleading the family.

Based on a complaint filed by K Kavya, Medipally police arrested her husband, K Snehit (28), on May 1 on charges of culpable homicide.

According to police, the incident involved Kavya’s mother, K Aruna (39), who sustained fatal head injuries after falling from a motorcycle.

Medipally Inspector Ch Shankaraiah said Snehit, who works at an NGO, had married Kavya last year but was reportedly unhappy with the marriage. He had earlier complained to Aruna about issues with Kavya.

On April 29, Snehit visited Aruna’s house and offered to take her out to buy food. He insisted that she accompany him on his bike.

During the ride, the two allegedly got into an argument over family matters. Police said Snehit, who had kept a helmet on the fuel tank, picked it up and struck Aruna on the head. She lost balance, fell from the bike, and suffered serious head injuries.

After the incident, Snehit reportedly told Kavya that her mother had suffered an epileptic seizure and fallen accidentally. Aruna later died on April 30 while undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

However, Kavya grew suspicious and checked CCTV footage from a nearby house, which allegedly showed Snehit hitting Aruna while riding the bike.

Following this, she approached the police, leading to his arrest.

Police stated that preliminary investigation suggests Snehit did not intend to kill Aruna but acted in anger during the argument. Further investigation is underway.
