A dramatic incident from Meerut’s Parikshitgarh police station area has gone viral after villagers allegedly forced a young couple to marry on the spot. The incident occurred in Ikla Rasulpur village, where a youth from Mawana had arrived late at night to meet his girlfriend.
According to local reports, the girl informed her boyfriend, Al Fahad, that her parents had gone to Meerut for eye treatment. Taking the opportunity, Fahad reached her house at night with his friends. However, noise from the house alerted neighbours, who caught the youth red-handed while his friends fled.
The neighbours immediately informed the girl’s family, who rushed back to the village. The family initially talked about taking legal action. The youth’s family and other relatives were then called to the spot, and a panchayat was convened in the night in the presence of villagers.
The panchayat continued for several hours, after which both sides reached a consensus to get the couple married immediately. The boy’s family reportedly asked for some time for the marriage, but the girl’s family refused and warned that they would approach the police. Following this, a Qazi was called on the spot, the girl was dressed hurriedly in bridal attire, and the marriage rituals were completed in the same night. The bride was then sent off with the groom.
A video of the incident has surfaced and is now widely discussed on social media.
