00:00Let's go to Grandy.
00:00We got Shanahan updates.
00:02What do we got?
00:02Yeah, what do you guys want to hear?
00:03Do you want to hear?
00:04I'll get to all of it, but what do you want to hear first?
00:05Injuries from the game.
00:07Game.
00:07Updates on players who might soon be coming off of IR.
00:10I want, oh, IR.
00:12Or updates on Brock Purdy and Ricky Pearsall.
00:14I'd like to save Purdy and Pearsall for the end.
00:16Yeah, okay.
00:17Let's do it.
00:17Let's go in order.
00:18In order that you presented it.
00:19Updates from the game.
00:20All right, first.
00:21Sam Okawonu has an ankle injury.
00:24Jordan Elliott also has an ankle injury.
00:26Dee Winters with a knee.
00:27Alfred Collins a shoulder.
00:28Mac Jones a knee contusion.
00:30All of those guys are day-to-day.
00:32Those are the injuries from the game.
00:34Okay, that's a good update.
00:35The Okawonu, you can see he's coming around the outside.
00:39It's just boop, boop.
00:41That was like, oh, yeah.
00:42That's a classic ankle roll.
00:44Just an ankle sprain, yeah.
00:45Low ankle sprain.
00:46Yeah, and I mean, you hope that he can come back,
00:48but how many of those guys you just listed are defensive linemen?
00:51Three, if not four?
00:53You had Collins.
00:54Sam O, Jordan Elliott, and Alfred Collins.
00:57Winters and Mac Jones, the others.
00:58All day today.
00:59Dee actually came back, and I wrote in my notes.
01:02He got hurt.
01:03He missed about three plays.
01:04Day-to-day is all you want to hear when somebody leaves the game on Monday.
01:08You just want to hear that they're day-to-day.
01:11Kyle has been pretty honest, I think, this year with the ones on Monday
01:14where he's like, they're going to miss some time.
01:17They're going to miss some time.
01:18So if everybody's day-to-day, doesn't mean that they're in this weekend,
01:21but I think that's as good as we could have hoped.
01:23Yeah, because we got Huff, and that was like, it's going to be a couple weeks.
01:25It's going to be a couple weeks.
01:26By the way, on the Monday report.
01:28Yeah, and I did not hear any update on Huff.
01:31Meanwhile, he was asked about players currently on IR that might soon be coming off.
01:35They might open their practice window.
01:37If they open the practice window, they have 21 days to add them to the active roster.
01:40Are you cowing?
01:41What do we got?
01:42So he said they expect to open the practice window for Ben Bartsch, who started left guard week one.
01:49That would help.
01:49Hasn't played since.
01:50Connor Colby's been starting since then.
01:52So he's expected to get his practice window opened on Wednesday, and he said that's it.
01:57So no IUK, no anybody else, at least not expected to open their practice windows this week.
02:01Okay.
02:02And then Ricky Pearsall asked if he's closer to coming back than last week.
02:07He said, I hope so, but still haven't been told anything new.
02:10He said he'll evaluate on Wednesday.
02:12Ricky Pearsall.
02:14And then Brock Purdy asked basically the same question.
02:16He said, quote, it's too early to say.
02:18I don't think it's a long shot.
02:20I know he's doing better.
02:21But again, they'll see how he's doing on Wednesday.
02:23I don't think it's a long shot is the opposite of what he said basically the last two weeks.
02:29So that's a maybe.
02:31Right.
02:32I don't know.
02:33For me, it's a number of things.
02:35One, your offensive line has not been great.
02:39He does give you more mobility when healthy.
02:41You're going to a place where the turf is really bad.
02:44And as I said in the crossover earlier, I don't think it matters.
02:47You're not going to make your decision based on that.
02:49But if the toe is not all the way back and your O-line's been shaky and you go to a bad field,
02:55it might have you lean in the direction of give him another week.
02:59And I don't know.
03:01I don't know either, Mark.
03:02I don't know if another week gets him from 91% to 100%.
03:06You know what I mean?
03:07The toe is probably going to be a thing all year no matter what.
03:10It might be.
03:11To me, I look at it differently because it's the National Football League.
03:16And I think you said this earlier and I'm in full agreement.
03:18And I think Kyle is too.
03:20He's already answered this when they asked him,
03:22is the fact that you're on turf these next two weeks, is that a factor?
03:27And he said no.
03:28And he's right.
03:29It shouldn't be.
03:30If turf is a factor, then you're not ready.
03:34Then you're not ready.
03:35Period.
03:36If you're ready to play football, then you're ready to play football.
03:40And that means whether you're on turf, grass, concrete, or the moon,
03:46if your body's ready, you're ready.
03:48If it's not ready, then even it being on grass would not be okay.
03:53Because you're still going to have to pivot and move and people will chase you.
03:57Big, large guys, they're going to chase you now.
04:00Right?
04:01They're going to get you sometimes.
04:02And so, if you're ready, you're ready.
04:07And I also, I don't even know if the MetLife surfaced.
04:09They did redo it.
04:11I don't know that the data from years ago is the same.
04:15So, I don't even want to call it a terrible surface.
04:17I don't know that it is anymore.
04:19I've heard that it's much better now.
04:21But I don't know that for sure either.
04:22But anyway, Mike, if he's ready to go, he's ready to go.
04:28And your offensive line not performing well,
04:31I really can't take that into account.
04:34Because that's going to be that way all year.
04:37So, I'm not, like, that's almost, like,
04:41disrespectful to Mac Jones or anybody else.
04:43Like, well, we'll stick you behind this line.
04:46But not him.
04:47Not Brock.
04:47No, like, you got it, dude.
04:49Everybody's going to be out there making mistakes,
04:51including the quarterback.
04:53Offensive linemen, too.
04:55If you're ready to play, you're ready to play.
04:58And, like, I'm excited that those guys might be ready to play.
05:02The Pearsall thing is more of an eye roll than the Purdy thing.
05:07Because it sounded like he's more positive.
05:10I mean, Grandy, you tell me, like, the way you passed that along
05:13sounded like he felt a little bit better about Brock than he did about Ricky.
05:16That was my understanding.
05:18Yeah, the Ricky thing is just starting to feel really mysterious
05:22and uncomfortable.
05:23And I think he's an incredibly important player.
05:27It sounded to me on Pearsall that it's just the same way he's answered that
05:30question for two or three weeks now.
05:31We'll see you on Wednesday.
05:33Yeah.
05:33And I know, again, I stand by my statement that I'm not giving $30 million to
05:37receivers.
05:37But, yes, I do want – there are some that certainly provide you something more
05:44than others.
05:45I wouldn't do $30 million.
05:47But it would be nice if Ricky was out there.
05:50I do think that changes the dynamic a little bit.
05:52It does.
05:53And, you know, right now you look at yesterday and you can't run the ball.
05:56And part of the reason why you can't run the ball is because you can't throw the
06:00ball.
06:00And so the defense, if you watch all the plays that the Niners had on offense,
06:05which weren't that many, by the way, I think they had 45 snaps on offense the
06:09entire game versus 80 for the Texans.
06:11But Houston doesn't have to respect your deep passing game.
06:15The one time you took a shot, you went max protect, you had seven guys block,
06:20and you sent Juwan deep, and he was open, and he didn't catch the football.
06:24That was it.
06:24That was your only deep shot.
06:26So for Houston, you don't have to really respect the passing game.
06:30You rally up for the dink and dunk, which is what they did, and you have eight guys
06:34near the line of scrimmage to crowd the run, and you dare the Niner pass game to
06:39beat you.
06:39And they weren't able to do that because you don't have Pearsall, you don't have
06:43Iuke, and Juwan actually had a great catch on that third and long that set up the
06:48touchdown to Tonjes, but other than that, you didn't really have that many deep throws
06:52that you were able to complete.
06:54No, like the whole thing is, the timing of the whole thing is off.
06:59And this is one thing that I just think we've always felt this way, but it's really
07:05crystallized this year.
07:07It's crystallized for me this year because of certain examples around the league.
07:12Baker Mayfield, Daniel Jones, to a degree, Mack Jones, because even though he hasn't
07:18been sparkly the last couple of weeks, he is 4-2 as a backup, and that's pretty damn
07:24good.
07:25And he's been able to do things because he's now in this system, and it's a better
07:29system and has better coaching and better teammates than he's ever had before in New
07:34England or Jacksonville for sure.
