00:00The question to throw out, and you can weigh in on this too, because it's a difficult one, and a
00:05fun one.
00:06888-957-9570.
00:09If you had to rank in order your top three MVPs for the 49ers at 6-0, who are you
00:18giving them to?
00:19Are we doing just players, or are we allowed to add in coaches?
00:23Anybody you want. If you want it to be Sidney Warner or Claire Kittle.
00:28Oh, wow. You can do that too, whoever you want.
00:32I mean, Claire does beat up George before the game, and he has been ready, and he's been playing well.
00:38I think the first three that come to my mind in no particular order, I would say it would be
00:44Brock Purdy,
00:45it would be Fred Warner, and it would be Raheem the Scheme Morris.
00:49That would be my three.
00:50What if you needed to put them in order?
00:52Then I would say it would be Brock Purdy 1, it would be Fred Warner 2, because they actually play,
00:57and then Raheem would be three. Honorable mention would go to Mike Evans, certainly,
01:02and Kyle Shanahan and stuff, because I do think he's had a really game.
01:07And then I'd go Cornish Waitman, the punter.
01:09No, you won't.
01:11Special teams player of the week a couple weeks ago.
01:13What's your crush? What's the deal?
01:15What's your deal, dude? I'm going to hardball you.
01:17He had a great game, and Grandy gave special teams an F,
01:20so I just want to continue to drill down on the fact that he was special teams player of the
01:24week.
01:24Oh, this is a Grandy thing.
01:26No, he's been the better of his kickers.
01:28Shut up, Vince.
01:28They have two people who kick the football, and the other guy's job security is a question.
01:35That's true, but that one, when he kicks it, you could get points.
01:39Yes.
01:39When Corliss, this is my whole thing with punters.
01:42When they're on the field, you're already inherently pissed.
01:46Their arrival is bad.
01:48The opposing punter, when they punt, they can get points,
01:51because Jacob Cowling doesn't catch the ball.
01:53Okay, exactly.
01:54I hear that, but the punter is like cops at a house party, okay?
01:59When they show up, eh, the fun's over.
02:03That's necessary, though.
02:04Of course.
02:05You called the cops on your own party when you were in high school.
02:07That's a true story.
02:08See, I listen.
02:09I listen to you.
02:10It's a true story.
02:12Yeah.
02:12Well, I made the mistake of trying to do house parties on back-to-back nights.
02:15Yeah, it's risky.
02:16Yeah.
02:16I went Friday.
02:17Parents were out of town.
02:18We went Friday.
02:20Banger.
02:20Great time.
02:21By the time we got to Saturday, about eight high schools knew what was going on,
02:27and I lived on a cul-de-sac.
02:29So, for crying out loud, the traffic overwhelmed.
02:32We had people I had never seen before that were twice my size.
02:36Literally, one of them elbowed me aside to go into the home.
02:40Yeah.
02:40And then things started disappearing from bedrooms and stuff like that.
02:44So, yeah.
02:44I went into my dad's office.
02:46I got under his desk.
02:47I called the cops on my own party.
02:50On his own party.
02:50Yeah.
02:51I'm like, there's some stuff.
02:52There's some unrest going on over there in Foster City.
02:55You were the punter.
02:57Corliss Waitman.
02:58No doubt.
02:59And I got a hold of it.
02:59We could even, I mean, it would be a lot harder, I think,
03:02to do the three least valuable 49ers.
03:06Oh, that's true.
03:07I mean, Jacob Cowling.
03:09Jacob Cowling's on line one.
03:10Eddie Pinheiro is an easy target, but it's not that easy
03:13because they've been playing so well.
03:15And he only played, really, the one game.
03:17Yeah.
03:17And they won the game.
03:18Here's what I'd say.
03:20Like, I think it's a fun exercise because it does force you
03:22to sort of move down the list.
03:25People that you don't want to move down the list.
03:27But, so, anyway, like, you mentioned Raheem Morris.
03:36I'd love to put Raheem Morris on the list, but he didn't make my list.
03:39In fact, I tried to come up with a list, and I came up with no one
03:45on the defensive side.
03:46Wow.
03:47That's shocking to me.
03:48And I really want someone on the defensive side to be on the list.
03:53And from Raheem to, obviously, to Fred Warner to even some of the pieces,
04:00Keon White and Grayson Halton, some of these pieces.
04:03But here's what I came up with.
04:05To me, Ross Tucker said something to Steini and Goo earlier this week
04:08that really stood out to me.
04:10And, like, Steini was like, why does it feel like Mike Evans has been
04:14so important on this team?
04:15And then you look at his stats, and they're just kind of like,
04:19all right, fine.
04:20But they're not, like, popping off like the top wide receivers in the game.
04:24And Ross goes, I think because right now it's not so much what Mike Evans catches,
04:33it's when he catches.
04:35That's it?
04:36And I was like, that's the statement.
04:38That is the answer to the question.
04:40Mike has made so many key plays.
04:42His ability and availability in Seattle when he was so hurt.
04:49And to make those plays on that drive,
04:51the only long touchdown drive by either team in the entire game,
04:55I was like, Mike's got to be on the list.
04:58Like, you couldn't move the ball against Seattle last year.
05:01Mike Evans arrives, and now you've got a fighting chance.
05:04And so I was like, Mike's got to be number three.
05:07And then number two is where I went a little creative, I guess, if you will.
05:13It's not a person.
05:15I'll give this person the name Shanna Lynch.
05:18Okay.
05:19That's cheating.
05:20No, it's not.
05:21Because it's actually two people.
05:22It's two people, but understand, it's one thing.
05:25What I'm getting at is the roster construction this offseason was elite.
05:31A team left the season, correctly identified what's our problem, what do we need,
05:38and then they went out and found those people.
05:40And they found those people in the draft, and they found those people in free agency,
05:45and they built a team that right now is the best team in football.
05:49And so I didn't even know who to give credit to in terms of roster construction
05:54because it is multiple people.
05:57And then obviously for me, number one, we can't call him the MVP of the league
06:02if he's not the MVP of the team.
06:04Pretty much.
06:05And he leads the NFL in so many passing categories, and you're 6-0.
06:10If you're the 6-0 quarterback of a team that has the best team in football,
06:14then you have to be at the top of the list.
06:16And for me, I don't even know where you would assign the draft in the free agency.
06:21But, yes, they clearly needed a lot of things.
06:23And, unfortunately, the receiver you drafted, first pick of the second round,
06:27has been mostly unable to play.
06:30And Ricky Pearsall, same thing.
06:31But even around that, you've been able to fill in the gaps.
06:34And I think defensively, that's why I wanted to put Raheem Morris in there
06:38because some of these players are the same players you had, and they all look better.
06:42Well, that's in the secondary.
06:44I agree with you.
06:45Outside of that.
06:46Even Keon White, he's having the best year of his career.
06:48No doubt.
06:49But I think we've watched how complimentary the pass rush is.
06:53And you have to be offering some things at other positions in order to get to the quarterback.
06:59And even without Nick Bosa, you're watching Keon White cook.
07:02And that is largely because, I think, Romello Height looks good and Grayson Halton looks good
07:07and Oso Odigizua.
07:08Let's not forget that trade.
07:09Just a massive acquisition in the offseason.
07:12They identified what they need.
07:14They went out and got it.
07:15And it looks like they absolutely nailed it.
07:17So, those are my three.
07:18We'd love to hear how you would answer that question.
07:21Your top three MVPs for the 49ers in order of a 6-0 team who makes the list, who doesn't.
07:29Obviously, more than three people are worthy of the conversation.
07:32So, it's a football Friday.
07:34Dibs has got a pick.
07:35Nice pick last night, by the way.
07:37Nice pick last night.
07:38Got a little bit dicey for a second there.
07:40Oh, it's Drake May.
07:41That's right.
07:41So, like, a Hail Mary usually needs to be thrown farther than three yards.
07:45Right.
07:45So, that was weird.
07:46That was a weird play.
07:48Well, they went for the three because they needed two scores.
07:50And it's because I didn't think that the Bears should have kicked that field goal of 50-something
07:55yards.
07:56You did, right?
07:56Cairo Santos.
07:57I mean, it's a make-or-miss league.
07:59He misses that.
08:00We got a whole different ballgame.
08:02He missed the previous one.
08:03Yeah.
08:03But then made this one.
