00:00all right kosh shanahan talk today i want you all check some of this out i think this is pretty

00:57about the team not making a move at the deadline i want you to know the question that led to this
01:03essentially the question was hey a lot of fans were thinking there'd be a deal does this amount
01:09to waving the white flag listen to what kyle said yeah i don't think it has to do with how we view
01:15this year's team i think we worked just as hard this year to make a trade that made sense for our
01:20team this year and next year just as hard as we do every year i mean there's a there's a lot of
01:23teams with records like six and three or better that didn't make any big trade just because you
01:27make a big trade doesn't mean it's always a smart move there's a lot of risk that goes into it not
01:31just for this year but throughout your whole future i was excited we were able to make it one that
01:35we felt real good about last week and getting key on i know we looked into a ton of them but the
01:39asking price was too much on all the ones okay asking price was too high and then i think this is
01:43related he was asked if he thinks that this current team with all of their injuries has overachieved
01:49i mean i want to say overachieved because we believed we could do this i think always when
01:53you have injuries it's it's much more of a challenge definitely but i think some of the
01:57key positions we have had a key injuries we've had we've had some good guys step up i mean i'm
02:01thinking all these positions it's just a total backup i think we've had some guys come in and
02:05play like starters um and i also know other teams in the league have some of these issues too so
02:09we're six and three we got a chance here we're in the hunt and we'll see how we finish the rest of
02:12this half out okay i i mean i like what he's saying are you accepting the answers totally ben
02:17barch out connor colby in he did pretty well and then now you got spencer burford in and he had a
02:23pretty good game a george kittle out and now we all know the name jake tonjus he has what three or
02:29four touchdown catches including a couple of big ones the the hail mary catch and then he had a good
02:35game against the rams in a victory so i i think you can look at even tatum bethune he's coming for
02:41fred warner he has not been fred warner but he's been a decent facsimile he's been a linebacker
02:47who's played pretty well so i think you look at nick bosa you haven't had really a replacement
02:52in your past rushes suffered but other than that you could find guys kendrick born heck
02:58grandy had him on his fantasy team and we played each other and kendrick born went banana in the
03:03game where ricky pierce all was out so i kind of like what shanahan's saying you've had guys come in
03:09and step up and play really well he said i thought we could do this i thought we could do this
03:15and i'm sitting there going yeah i thought you could do this too but not with these people
03:20i think you could do this with these people so look i think this is sort of what we we arrived at
03:27yesterday i i accept what the niners did there's no way in my opinion as a fan to not feel
03:35kind of disappointed by it um i don't know how they're gonna hold like how are they gonna stop
03:41matt stafford you gotta go get that guy and i just don't know but maybe i'm wrong you know maybe
03:47bryce huff comes back and it looks like the atlanta game maybe the niners have a way of game planning
03:52this thing up shanahan versus mcveigh is always an interesting matchup and i know that mcveigh's gotten
04:00some of the big ones but shanahan's gotten a lot more of them he's gotten the better half of mcveigh
04:06more often than not when they go head to head and it does often feel game plan related when they beat
04:13the rams it certainly did back in week five that i know yeah somewhat what do you mean well the opening
04:20two drives the niners get 163 yards and they score twice and they're up 14 nothing and then i'm just
04:27looking back at my notes as i'm trying to refresh getting into the game rams are down 14 nothing
04:32they march down to the 25 yard line and blake corum can't catch a pitch what's my favorite word
04:39pitch and he couldn't catch it and that's a turnover and even though the niners didn't cash it in
04:45the rams were marching down to make it 14 7 blake corum can't catch a simple pitch that was an
04:51unforced error sure and the other one was the goal line where collins punched it out of my elbows he
04:57made a play so beyond the first two drives the 49er offense was to use your word mid yeah no i get
05:04that again i still feel like it was game plan related the coach is not supposed to go out there
05:10and win the game the coach is supposed to go out there and give you a chance to win the game
05:13and i think that that's what kyle did that night and the niners were able to make good on it early
05:18the rams then made some adjustments nobody's confused here based on the roster right now the
05:24rams are a better team than the niners but they were then too well right you know that's my point
05:29like i thought that the the game plan is can we come in here and put these guys in a position where
05:35they've got a shot and and he did and now if the rams had played a perfect game they would have won
05:40they would have won i have no doubt about that but you don't always play a perfect game and the rams
05:45might not play a perfect game this sunday too so um i get it but at the same time um i can fully
05:53accept what the niners are doing philosophically i can also accept the idea that the cost was too high
06:01i do appreciate them admitting like we tried we tried you know what i mean like i do give some people
06:08don't give points for that at trade deadlines i do because i want to know a philosophically what are
06:15you trying to do and then b now what did you do those are two different things and i want to leave
06:21space for both of them this is not yoda this is not star wars do or do not he's no try it's just like
06:27that's not true you you can try to make a deal and if they're like sure three first round picks well
06:33that'd be dumb dumb that don't do that so i appreciate them saying we we did not go into the
06:40deadline and say to ourselves we can't win so we're not going to do this no they tried the right deal
06:46wasn't there i think that's disappointing um but who knows maybe they're going to be blessed with
06:52health the rest of the way maybe and and he tore gross matos they did announce today they expect him
06:57back he's not out for the year good so i don't know man but i do also take what he said about the
07:04people who stepped up and i didn't even mention mac jones so you have a backup quarterback who's come
07:08in and won five games so all the other backups i mentioned who've come in and done well that's not
07:14nothing that actually counts when you lose your edge rusher well you didn't really replace him but
07:19you're still six and three you lost a hall of fame middle linebacker and tatum bethune a late draft
07:25pick has come in and played well and he's not fred but you're six and three your top uh wide receiver
07:30draft pick ricky pierce all has been hurt most of the year kendrick born came off the scrap heap you're six
07:36and three and we could go on and on you had to get rid of your kicker after a week because he was an
07:41unmitigated disaster and you found a guy off the couch who doesn't miss and you're six and three
07:46so all the other guys we could talk about who've come in they've come in and done well enough to
07:51where you're six and three yeah uh by the way pierce all here's what shanahan said just the same as
07:56what i said last week no setback just take longer to heal than we thought yeah no setback but
08:01no practice either right i'm so bummed about ricky pierce you were super high on ricky pierce
08:07i'm not a doctor he was your will richard it looked like i thought i hoped it would look too when he
08:13played i mean you weren't victory lapping no because i knew you came in after two games you're like yeah
08:18it's good to it's good to see something and have it come true well and it was whoa boy you were looking
08:23good he he my point all off season when people are like you know your wide receiver one is out and then
08:30the jennings thing and you're like so your other wide receiver one is out and you know what i said
08:34i said no your wide receiver one is ricky yep that's wr1 i still believe that but the other side
08:42that is also true is this guy is having one hell of a difficult time to the start of his career
08:48really really difficult and the worry with him was injury it always has been and it's been both
08:55off seasons and now in season and then a gunshot wound right it's it's it i'm so bummed about how
09:03this has all started for him especially the way it started this year which was he's running all the
09:08routes he's a tough cover and he catches everything and then you're thinking all right he's on his way
09:13to a thousand yards for sure yeah and look at jackson smith and jigba he's on pace to be the first ever
09:192 000 yard receiver if he stays healthy and you know you've already mentioned puka nikua and there's
09:26so many receivers who are staying healthy and having monster years and ricky was on that trend early
09:31yeah although puka puka missed a game as well i think he's okay for this week he's already over 700 yards
09:38um by the way um pretty interesting how many of the top five in the league do you think you can name
09:45in yards yards right now probably two i'd guess on the third who do you think's one well i know that
09:52uh jackson smith and jigba and puka are up there yep those are two of the five and then man it gets
09:58tough i would guess mccaffrey but he's seven yeah he's seven no there's always up there i'm on rise six
10:06so the reason i ask is because there there is a there's kind of an imposter in there
10:12oh there's there's there's puka there's jsn and then there's the two guys who most people would
10:18say those are the fanciest receivers in the game jamar chase and justin jefferson there you go that's
10:25two and five i give take one shot at who the other guy is uh total guest at the party crasher
10:33total party crasher i don't even i mean grandy wants to guess too i would i mean the guy i would guess
10:40he hasn't played in a couple weeks oh a mecca buka no he hasn't played enough games to be up
10:45there oh yeah buka's 12th he's 12 562 yards good young receiver you want to take a shot it's a
10:52pickens it sure is george imposter freaking pickin cd didn't play like three or four he was out
10:59because grady's got cd on his team that's why he knows
