00:01After a fresher couple of days for some of us, the heat and humidity is set to build
00:05once again as we go into next week, but there'll also be some welcome rain for some of us.
00:10Out there this evening, any rain is generally across the north of Scotland in the form of
00:13showers and even here the showers will become more isolated and confined to the very far
00:18northeast as we go through the night.
00:20Otherwise across the UK, generally staying dry, lengthy clear spells as well, so it will
00:25turn into a pretty cool night, particularly in the countryside where in actual fact we
00:29could even see a touch of grass frost, believe it or not, in parts of Wales, the Midlands
00:33and more especially northern parts of the UK.
00:36Towns and cities though generally holding up in the teens Celsius in the south.
00:40Now it's in the south where we could well see one or two isolated mist and fog patches forming
00:44in the countryside around dawn, but those will rapidly clear in that strong August sunshine,
00:48so Sunday is set to be another fine, bright and warm day for many parts of the UK.
00:53One or two showers perhaps across the very far northeast of Scotland, but these much lighter
00:56and infrequent compared to on Saturday and possibly bringing a little bit of light rain
01:01later in the day across parts of Northern Ireland and the west of Wales, but really
01:05just the odd spot or two possible, nothing more than that.
01:08Hazy sunshine though compared to on Saturday with a lot of wispy high-level cloud out and about,
01:12but nonetheless despite the cloud cover it will be a warmer day across many parts of the UK,
01:18temperatures into the mid-20s across large parts of England and Wales and approaching 30 degrees
01:23once again in the southeast so feeling pretty hot. Into Sunday evening and there will be a little
01:29bit of light rain pushing northwest across more northern parts of the UK, but treat the graphics
01:33with a little bit of a pinch of salt. We're not expecting huge amounts of rain to fall, but it
01:37could well lead to the ground just turning a little bit damp in places. Otherwise though,
01:41many southern parts of England and Wales staying dry with clear spells and I think we'll all notice
01:46how much more uncomfortable it will be for sleeping tomorrow night. Temperatures at least in England
01:50Wales not falling much below the mid to high teens Celsius in the towns in the cities. Still a little
01:56bit cooler across the very far north of Scotland if we hold into some clear skies here. Now the rain
02:01is a sign of things to change as we go into the early part of next week associated with these
02:06weather
02:06fronts and a low pressure system just sitting out towards the west of the UK. That's just very
02:11slowly drifting towards the UK on Monday, but it's also importing some heat and humidity once again
02:17from the near continent. So as well as some rain or showers, we are set to see those temperatures
02:22rise once again. But a fine day to come for many parts of England and Wales. Lots of sunshine once
02:28again. Further north a very different story though. An area of rain quite so moving across Scotland and
02:33perhaps quite heavy for a time too. So a much more changeable day to come for Scotland and Northern
02:38Ireland. Some heavy showers developing across southern Scotland and Northern Ireland into the afternoon.
02:42Possibly the odd thunderstorm breaking out across Wales and Northern and Western parts of England too.
02:47But these will be very hit and miss so don't expect much in a way of relief for the farmers,
02:52the gardeners,
02:53etc. We are going to see probably a good deal of dry weather still on Monday. And it's in the
02:57southeast where it will start to turn very hot with a lot of sunshine. Temperatures perhaps approaching
03:02the mid-30s degrees here, but widely the high 20s, low 30s elsewhere across England and Wales. Notice though
03:09a huge temperature contrast across the north compared to the south. Here where we see the most persistent
03:14rain temperatures perhaps not getting much above 15 or 16 degrees. So a disappointingly cool day,
03:19particularly in Northern Scotland. Now these temperatures will really jump up compared to
03:23on Sunday. So many parts of England and Wales, these red colours here, indicating that temperatures will jump
03:29up by some five to eight degrees compared to on Sunday. And temperatures will be well above average.
03:35So we could even see 35 degrees Celsius in some spots. Until 2026, there's only been five days
03:40in a year where we saw 35 or higher in the UK. But we're on course if we see 35
03:46on Monday to make it
03:47our eighth day this year where 35 Celsius has been recorded. So pretty remarkable. Now in terms of rain,
03:54again it's going to be the north and the west of the UK that will see the lime share of
03:57the rain through
03:59Monday and Tuesday. So some welcome amounts of rain for the farmers and the gardeners in the north.
04:04But notice in the south, well some places stay in these white shades here. Very little in the way
04:09of rain. The showers much more hit and miss. So certainly no definite good news for the farmers
04:15and the gardeners in the south unfortunately. So lots going on over the next few days. And always,
