15 October - National Evening Forecast presented by Clare Nasir
Transcript
00:00Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:05All change with our weather as we enter the weekend.
00:07Before that though, for the next few days, high pressure still influences conditions
00:12across the UK.
00:13It's trapped a lot of cloud through the last few days and similar as we head through Thursday
00:18as well as Friday.
00:19A light breeze generally, a bit damp in places, but notice the centre of this anticyclone is
00:25drifting towards Denmark and that will allow for the change to come in from the west and
00:30more about that in a moment.
00:32For the time being, a brisk breeze across Shetland, Orkney with some outbreaks of light rain damp
00:36across the Western Isles as well.
00:38Now this breeze will bring with it some drizzly showers to eastern and southeastern counties.
00:43Inland, that light wind will allow for some mist and fog where you see clearer skies, even
00:48with a touch of frost across the Cairngorns.
00:50The weather's then holding up elsewhere with that thick cloud 9 or 10 degrees Celsius.
00:55That leads into a murky start to tomorrow morning where you see any mist and fog, it
00:59will be slow to clear.
01:00Certainly through the morning, some patchy rain slowly, gradually moves in across Aberdeenshire,
01:05Caithness, Sutherland and still damp towards the far west.
01:09Brighter breaks perhaps towards the west, the west country, Wales and even central parts
01:13of Scotland.
01:14Generally speaking, the theme of the weather will remain cloudy.
01:17A bit cloud at that and spits and spots of drizzle from time to time.
01:22Temperatures then struggling a little bit, 13 to 16 degrees Celsius.
01:26Now as we head through Thursday evening and overnight, not a lot of change.
01:31Still a bit damp in places into Friday, yet again one or two light showers just grazing
01:35the east coast.
01:37But for most, it's a dry day, on Friday we're chasing cloud.
01:40But notice as the high declines and moves towards the near continent, the breeze picks up on Saturday,
01:45mixing the air.
01:46Then thickening cloud brings outbreaks of rain.
01:49Slow process through Sunday into Sunday afternoon.
01:52Showery bursts ahead of it.
01:53Some heavier pulses for Northern Ireland, Wales as well as Western Scotland.
01:57So all change with our weather through the weekend.
02:00It turns wet and windy, some of that rain could be on the heavy side.
02:04For more details of our 10 day trend this week, it's with Alex Deacon.
02:07And I'll see you again soon.
