00:00Hello there, welcome to your Thursday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:04More wet weather on its way coming in from the Atlantic.
00:07Showers tonight, rain tomorrow.
00:09Now you can see a real squeeze on the isobars.
00:11Strong winds through tonight into tomorrow across the north of Scotland.
00:14And then this system sweeps in, bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain.
00:19It stores across more southern areas into the first part of the weekend with some patchy rain.
00:24Showers further north and again a windy day.
00:26But notice an improving picture through Sunday.
00:29A ridge of high pressure pushes in.
00:31Lighter breezes in the south.
00:33We lose the wind in the north as well.
00:35More about that in a moment.
00:36For the time being though, you may encounter some showers.
00:39Particularly across Scotland, northern England, Wales, the west country.
00:43Some also coming in across northern Ireland.
00:46But through the night we lose the showers across more southern areas.
00:49Clearer skies here.
00:50Whereas further north another band moves in from the west and pushes eastwards.
00:55Winds will ease somewhat through the night.
00:58Certainly towards the south there.
01:00But still that strong wind across the far north of Scotland.
01:03And some showers to start the day across Scotland down towards northern England.
01:07Temperatures then probably around 10 to 12 degrees Celsius.
01:10But in the valleys of Wales, the glens of Scotland dipping down lower than that.
01:14So a bit of a chilly start to Friday morning.
01:17Through Friday morning, some sunshine across England and Wales.
01:20These showers continue their passage eastwards.
01:23So some drier skies, they become scattered.
01:25More cloud, then rain moves in across northern Ireland.
01:28Reaching western Scotland mid-morning.
01:30Extending eastwards as well as southwards.
01:32So some wet weather for the Midlands, Wales.
01:35But further south you can see some brighter breaks.
01:38Quite a brisk breeze along the coast.
01:39But even so, you'll have some warmth in the air.
01:43Temperatures here probably around 20 to 22 degrees Celsius.
01:46It's fresher elsewhere though, particularly with that strong wind.
01:49Outbreaks of rain 15, 16, 17 degrees Celsius.
01:53If you are driving on Friday evening, you may encounter some wet weather.
01:57But it will tend to clear.
01:59However, the cloud trails across England and Wales into Saturday morning.
02:04And showers continue across the north.
02:07They'll be heavy, clustering together with a strong wind.
02:11And notice further south, that breeze also will be a feature of the weather
02:14as we head through the first part of the morning.
02:17This weather front here will keep temperatures up.
02:19And it will turn a little bit more humid across England and Wales.
02:22Temperatures holding 14, 15, 16 degrees Celsius.
02:25Further northeast, probably around 10 or 11 Celsius.
02:28And a milder night to come across northern Ireland and western Scotland.
02:33But a windy start to the day with showers.
02:35Patchy rain across Wales, northern England, as well as the Midlands through the morning on Saturday.
02:40And this cloud continues just to come and go through the day.
02:43Some sunshine in between.
02:45But these showers here will again rattle across Scotland and northern Ireland.
02:50And notice bumps in the cloud bringing more rain as we head through the afternoon.
02:54But again, never really amounting to very much.
02:57Now through the afternoon, temperatures rising in some sunshine.
03:0118 across northern England, northern parts of Wales.
03:03Not a bad afternoon to come as that cloud gradually just drifts southwards.
03:07But even under the cloud across central and southern parts of England and Wales, 21 or 22 degrees Celsius.
03:13The air is warm.
03:14Further north, though, it's fresh with that wind.
03:1714 or 15 Celsius and further showers likely.
03:20So that's the picture on Saturday afternoon.
03:23As you saw on the bigger picture, things try and settle down from the west with a ridge coming in.
03:28And that means winds will ease into Sunday.
03:31We'll see more on the way of brighter skies, if not some sunshine.
03:34And then later on, clouds will thicken from the west.
03:37Before that, though, temperatures 17, 18, 21 towards the southeast.
03:41I'll see you later.
03:42Bye-bye.
