00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Through the next few days, some showers in the mix, some rain through the next 24 hours towards the north.
00:10This low pressure system is pushing ever northwards, so stronger winds really confined to the far north of Scotland as well as Iceland.
00:17A quieter spell on Wednesday, but then all changed through Wednesday night and into Thursday.
00:22This area of low pressure tracks across from the southwest, affecting England and Wales.
00:26And there are weather warnings for many parts as we head through into Thursday.
00:32A wind warning for the western side of Wales with coastal gusts up to 50, 60 miles an hour.
00:37A lot of rain associated with this low pressure, so some heavy pulses expected as it pushes towards the North Sea.
00:45And there's a yellow wind warning across eastern counties of England where gusts could reach up to 65 miles an hour.
00:52So some impactful weather through Thursday, certainly wet and windy, tricky driving conditions, poor visibility, lots of rain and also some high waves associated with those strong winds.
01:03Eventually we'll see stronger winds just creeping in across the east coast of Scotland.
01:08For the time being, some rain clears the far east of England, eastern Scotland.
01:13Then we see showers just filing in across the west there.
01:16In land, some lighter winds and clearer skies, and that's where the lowest temperatures will be.
01:22It's a bit of a chilly end to the night.
01:24Temperatures in the countryside could dip down to low single figures.
01:27So a bright and cool start to the day across many areas.
01:31However, showers from the word go across the west.
01:35They'll drift in on quite a keen breeze towards the far northwest of Scotland.
01:39The clouds will be slowly thickening here, but brighter weather further east in shelter across much of England and Wales before showers develop inland through the day in situ.
01:49And then later, this cloud and rain arrives from the southwest, bringing with it some heavier pulses of rain, just creeping into Plymouth, Exeter as well as Cardiff.
01:58Temperatures then struggling a little bit, 12 to 15 degrees Celsius.
02:02It is going to turn cooler over the next few days, but before that, let's just pick up on that rain on Thursday.
02:09A deep area of low pressure, as we said.
02:11Warnings have been issued throughout the day.
02:13Strong winds just pushing down along this east coast with a lot of rain.
02:17That driving wind is cold across Irish sea coasts, and that rain becomes confined to the Midlands eastern counties as we head through the afternoon.
02:25But notice around lunchtime, rain just creeping in across Angus as well as Aberdeenshire down towards borders.
02:32And those winds will pick up here.
02:34At the same time, a stronger wind across western Scotland with a few showers.
02:38Northern Ireland getting away with not a bad day, to be honest.
02:41You'll see a mix of clouds and some brighter breaks coming through as showers feed in once that rain clears across the west there.
02:48So Wales, the west country, northwest England.
02:51Temperatures will struggle through the afternoon, turning colder from the north, 11 to 12 degrees Celsius.
02:57So through Thursday afternoon, we watch as this low pressure system pushes towards more eastern areas, clearing on Friday.
03:04But notice these blues pushing in from the north this time.
03:08So yes, through the weekend, a stronger wind coming in from a colder direction.
03:13So temperatures will be on the low side, feeling cold in that wind.
03:16And that wind will be strong across the eastern strip before a quieter spell into the early hours of Sunday morning.
03:22And then this cloud and rain just slides in from the west, bringing with it more cloud and some outbreaks of rain.
03:28Wherever you are, have a good week.
