05 November - National weather forecast presented by Clare Nasir.
Transcript
00:00Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday evening weather update from the Met Office. We have
00:05rain tonight across the north. It is exceptionally mired. Into tomorrow there will be some showery
00:10bursts around. So this weather front here through into the early hours of tomorrow morning
00:14will tend to fade away. But showers still in the vicinity. The air remains exceptionally
00:19mild. It's been a mild day. It will be a mild night for bonfire night. And notice low pressure
00:25still then drifting in through Friday. Yet again tracking across more central parts of
00:31the country. Spilling cloud and showery rain northwards and eastwards. If you are stepping
00:36out this evening for Guy Fawkes Night, you may run into a little bit of showery rain. Lots
00:41of lower clouds. One or two broken bits and pieces of cloud allowing for some clearer skies
00:46and a view of the supermoon tonight. Showery bursts continue though across northern parts
00:52of Northern Ireland, southern areas of Scotland. And this is the persistent rain which has cleared
00:58most of mainland Scotland but remains in place across Shetland, Orkney, down towards Caithness
01:04as well as Sutherland and the Outer Hebrides. Now through this evening, as I said, it will
01:09be very mild. The winds coming in from the south. Still filaments of wet weather extending
01:15particularly towards more western areas into the early hours of the morning. Low clouds shrouding
01:20the hills and mountains. And the rain tends to ease across the far north of Scotland but
01:24still damp here as we enter the day on Thursday. Spits and spots of rain can't be ruled out.
01:30Look at these temperatures holding around 13 to 15 degrees Celsius. 11 to 13 for Scotland
01:36and around 12 or 13 for Northern Ireland. So a mild start to the day come Thursday morning.
01:41For most it's dry but yet again because low pressure is close by we will have few bits and
01:47pieces of showery rain just pushing northwards. In between the clouds could break particularly
01:52to the lee of higher ground. You could see some brighter breaks but some showers are likely
01:58and they could cluster together across western areas of Wales pushing towards the Isle of
02:02Man. A similar situation for western Scotland. So the picture remains quite messy across most
02:07of the UK but some brighter breaks can't be ruled out from time to time. Temperatures then
02:13through tomorrow afternoon will come in possibly around 16 for eastern parts of Scotland. 17
02:21down towards the south and southeast of England and 15 for Northern Ireland. So still above
02:26average for this time of year. Through Thursday evening and overnight subtle changes in how it's
02:32going to feel. Certainly not a lot of rain around but where the clouds thick enough sits and spots
02:37of wet weather can't be ruled out rain and drizzle and it's all again moving from the south towards
02:43the north. But some clearer skies particularly across Scotland may allow temperatures to dip to
02:47around seven or eight degrees Celsius. Through Friday this band of clouds and wet weather will
02:53extend from West Country Wales, Northern Ireland a few patches down towards the Midlands as it pushes
02:59towards the northwest of England. So yes more wet weather on its way. Temperatures will resume near
03:04normal values. But for more details of the weather as we go into the weekend and beyond check out our
03:0910 day trends this week. It's with Alex Deacon. See you later.
