00:00Low pressure dominates the weather through the next few days and into the weekend and what that means, rain, showers, some heavy downpours, some high waves associated with strong winds and coastal gales.
00:12So here's that low pressure through Wednesday into Thursday just sitting towards the north of Scotland. A real squeeze on the isobars there, a deep airy low pressure bringing with it that risk of gales.
00:22Now with those blustery breezes through the next few days that will allow showers to rattle across the country with further spells of rain just coming and going particularly across the northwest of Scotland through the next 24 hours and then elsewhere through into Saturday.
00:35For the time being this band of rain is heavy. Now it's moving from central, eastern and northern England, central parts of Scotland towards the northeast but notice some torrential downpours associated with it through the evening and overnight.
00:48Winds are strong ahead of it, blustery behind as rain returns to western Scotland later and we'll see a cluster of showers move in, not only across Northern Ireland but West Wales as well as the West Country.
00:59A few grazing the far southwest as well as the northwest of England. Inland though, some clearer skies, that's where the driest weather will be but with that breeze mixing up the air, temperatures holding probably around 10 to 12 degrees Celsius.
01:12So a relatively mild start to the day but it will be a blustery one. Windy in the north. First thing then tomorrow morning, that rain arrives across Shetland clearing Orkney.
01:24This rain here will become persistent. Some high rainfall totals are possible across the northwest of Scotland.
01:29Showers then merge to form longer spells of rain across Northern Ireland as those showers develop inland across England and Wales and again track towards the northeast.
01:37Brighter skies, Aberdeenshire, perhaps Lincolnshire, East Anglia but even here you're not immune to any wet weather as those showers become heavy through the afternoon with the risk of thunder, even some hail.
01:48Now through the afternoon temperatures rising slowly and it really depends if you see any heavy downpours what that temperature will be but in any brighter slots probably 18 towards the east, 19, 14 or 15 towards more western and northwestern areas.
02:02And look at these winds up here towards the northwest, that's where they'll be strong.
02:06Now through Thursday evening and overnight, yet again that rain continues to affect the northwest of Scotland.
02:13Showers elsewhere but some clearer skies and shelter towards the east but those showers would be frequent across southern and western facing coasts and into Friday, yes, showers towards more western and northwestern areas
02:24as they develop inland and push across the country very quickly with that strong wind.
02:29Again, the risk of thunder, some locally heavy ones. Temperatures then typically coming in the mid to high teens at the very best, feeling fresh in that wind.
02:37Wind's probably down a notch though on Friday morning and Thursday night, particularly towards the northwest.
02:44So that's Friday afternoon. Through Saturday, it really is a case of those showers continuing.
02:49Friday into Saturday then. This weather front here will bring the prospect of showers merging to form longer spells of rain as that weather system moves across towards the northeast.
02:59So yet again, some wet weather overnight and into Saturday morning, clearing towards the far southeast as well as the far northeast of Scotland.
03:06But a rush of showers on Saturday and again, they'll move quite quickly across the country with some heavy, locally thundery downpours.
03:14Your outlook then through Saturday afternoon, it's sunshine and heavy showers.
03:18And here are your temperatures typically around the mid-teens, possibly down towards the southeast.
