00:00Touchdowns from K. Johnson and T. Johnson?
00:05Yeah.
00:05Who?
00:05Yep.
00:07Was it, I mean, Ibuka?
00:10No.
00:10No.
00:11Evans?
00:11No.
00:12Oh, he's hurt.
00:12Godwin?
00:13No.
00:14Yeah.
00:14Right, so, oh, but Bucky Irving had a cut.
00:18No, he's out.
00:19Right, so, I mean, as much as we want to, like, Fred Warner, put him aside, that's a tragedy,
00:24but all the rest of it, like, Tampa Bay beat you with two Johnsons, Johnson and Johnson,
00:30shout-out Jim Nance with the great Johnson and Johnson, and shout-out Tony Romo for
00:35assuming that it was B. Robinson who was coming back off suspension.
00:40Oops, wrong Robinson, but that's okay.
00:43He had a good game otherwise.
00:44All good.
00:45Johnson and Johnson, and Shepard?
00:49Yeah, but I look at it from the standpoint, I mean, the 49ers have had scrap heap Kendrick
00:54Bourne go for a buck 52 games in a row, so, like, this is how-
00:58And Juwan Jennings had a catch.
00:59Oh, okay.
01:01I'm so glad that you just framed this that way.
01:04He had a catch.
01:06This is my point.
01:07Third and Juwan.
01:09This is my point.
01:10I would love, and I, boy, does this-
01:13Number one.
01:13This sucks because it's going to make it sound like I'm painting with a broad brush.
01:19I know that a lot of receivers have their heads screwed on straight.
01:23I get it.
01:24A lot of them do.
01:25And I thought Juwan was one of them, and I'm going to stay open-minded because I don't
01:31really know what happened on the sideline yesterday, and I get it that he's ticked.
01:35I really do.
01:36He's a warrior.
01:37He's playing through so much pain.
01:40He's frustrated from the offseason.
01:43Whether we agree with that frustration or not doesn't matter.
01:46He's mad.
01:47He's mad, and he's playing through pain, and when you're in pain, you snap on people.
01:51So, this is not necessarily that.
01:55But did you watch the last two weeks of 49ers and Buccaneers football?
02:03Hey, wide receivers, you're not that valuable.
02:09You just aren't.
02:12The league went and got itself in a big old heap of trouble by deciding that these first-round
02:17fantasy picks are worth $30 and $40 million a year.
02:20They're not.
02:22They're not.
02:23Because Kendrick Bourne can come in and go for 300 yards in two weeks.
02:28Wow.
02:29And the Bucs can lose Godwin and Evans and Ibuka and bust 30 on your butt two weeks in
02:36a row and go 5-1.
02:37With Johnson and Johnson.
02:38And Tom Brady can make a career out of it.
02:41So, hey Bengals, how you doing?
02:45How you having fun?
02:46Hey Niners, how you doing?
02:47Yeah.
02:48How you doing?
02:49Like, it's moronic.
02:53Hey Eagles, how you doing?
02:56It's moronic to give these players $30 and $40 million a year.
03:01And I'm going to say that across the board.
03:05Justin Jefferson is a damn light in this league.
03:08Puka Nakua.
03:10Incredible.
03:11And maybe he's an exception.
03:14And he got hurt too though, right?
03:15He got hurt.
03:16He got hurt.
03:17He's a maybe for this week in London.
03:19It's not a bad injury.
03:20But, yeah, he got hurt.
03:22But, like, dude, there are certain guys, Justin Jefferson, for example, I think is a phenomenal
03:28teammate.
03:29He's truly a great player.
03:31But, like, I'm sorry, receivers.
03:35You're complimentary.
03:37You're complimentary.
03:39And you are much more replaceable than about six other positions on the field.
03:44It's been proven over and over and over again.
03:50Yet, every week, I'm on red zone and there's another one either yelling at a coach or reading
03:56a book or talking to reporters in the locker room about how, I didn't know about a meeting.
04:02What meeting?
04:04I didn't go to a meeting.
04:05Everyone else was like, there was a meeting.
04:06I didn't go.
04:07You were there.
04:08I don't remember what you're talking about.
04:09It's like, guys, read the room for a second.
04:13Can you please read the room?
04:16Read the room.
04:18Like, the NFL's gotten itself up a creek by doing what they're doing with these contracts.
04:22It's crazy.
04:23And if you look at the Niners' first half targets by wide receiver last year, how many
04:28of them were to players who were on the team last year?
04:31I don't want you to rack your brain too much, and I'm going to give you the answer.
04:34The answer is zero.
04:35And the targets to wide receivers were born, born, born, born, and then you got Demarcus
04:44Robinson.
04:44You got two to MVS, and then you got Demarcus Robinson.
04:48Again, he dropped it, and that's when you had the Juwan Jennings blow up, where you could
04:53see on the broadcast Kyle Shanahan actually lowers his mic, and he turns to him as if to
04:58say, like, what are you doing?
05:00Like, clearly to me, Juwan was saying, I wouldn't have dropped that.
05:04And I don't know, and maybe I'm projecting, but whatever he said, Kyle was not happy with
05:09because as the plays rolled on, and Cam Inman on his Twitter laid this out beautifully, and
05:15then, you know, you had Demarcus again for 31.
05:18You had Demarcus, and then Demarcus incomplete, and then you kicked the field goal, and you
05:22go into the half, and whatever happened, happened, and you come out.
05:26First play.
05:26Juwan's out there.
05:28False start.
05:28Juwan Jennings.
05:29And that was the opening snap of the third quarter.
05:32So, to your point, like, wide receivers, I mean, not that you're not important, but you're
05:37maybe less important than what we all think.
05:39You're very important, but like, why is this behavior seems to always be from that position?
05:48Not always, but like, you know, a lot of it.
05:51A lot of it.
05:52And it's really not even, I mean, I could give a rip how guys behave.
05:56It's an emotional sport, so if y'all want to yell at each other up and down the sideline,
06:00it's not like that's only receivers.
06:02My bigger issue is, like, we spend so much time coming down the road of teams for how
06:09they've financially handled the quarterback position, and I think it's nuts.
06:13First of all, there's one of them.
06:14And second of all, you can clearly see seasons get turned sideways when those guys get hurt.
06:20But here's wide receivers out here who are all over the place.
06:24They want 30 mil, they want 40 mil, they're holding out.
06:29This happened two off-seasons in a row with the 49ers.
06:32Actually make it three out of four if you add Debo into the mix.
06:36And then, here comes Baker Mayfield, who's like, you want me to drop 30 with someone named
06:41Tez, who's never caught a touchdown in his life?
06:44No problem, hold my beer.
06:46And it's just like, you guys, like, please, read the room.
06:51Be awesome.
06:52You can absolutely make a difference.
06:56But there's too many wide receivers in this league right now who are making an absolute
07:01mockery of the sideline and their coach and play calling and the decisions made by the
07:07quarterback.
07:08You literally sound like they're in high school, where everybody runs up.
07:13Actually, I should keep going.
07:15You sound like the 10-year-old kids in flag football.
07:20They all say the same thing.
07:21They get back to the huddle and they go, I was open.
07:24Yep.
07:24Great.
07:25I don't care that you were open.
07:27We ran a play.
07:28Did we get a first down?
07:30We're trying to move the ball down the field.
07:32I'm glad you were open.
07:34Go get open again.
07:36It's just, it's, man, it's wild.
07:38It's wild what's happened to this position.
07:40And the NFL is complicit.
07:42These teams are complicit because they've just, they've, they've agreed.
07:46They've agreed.
07:46It started with the Miami Dolphins, quite frankly, and the Tyreek Hill deal.
07:51I don't know how many games they've won since they started all this with Tyreek Hill.
07:54It even started before that with Antonio Brown going live on Facebook, Facebook Live from
07:59the Steeler locker room.
08:00Right.
08:01Talking about this and that and then going to the Raiders.
08:03And I burned my hands in a, in a frozen ice chamber.
08:07Yeah, but if you go crazy, you go crazy.
08:09I'm talking about the contract.
08:10Sure.
08:10Like the Chiefs are sitting there, they're Super Bowl champs and the Dolphins are like,
08:14we'll do 30 million a year.
08:15And the Chiefs are like, have him.
08:17Yeah.
08:17Are you crazy?
08:19And, and look at the way the Chiefs have handled the receiver position since then.
08:23They keep winning.
08:24How the Dolphins doing.
08:25Yeah.
08:26Well, I mean, they got a receiver who can't take a punch.
08:28Juju Smith-Schuster.
08:30We can get into that in the, in the post game.
08:32Don't come down Juju's road.
08:34I'm not.
08:34That was completely on branches.
08:36That was crazy.
08:37That's a sucker move.
08:38Crazy seat.
08:39It was totally a sucker move.
08:40And meanwhile, as we talk about wide receivers, Jennifer Lee Chan on NBC Sports Bay Area now
08:46reporting that Brandon Ayuk has scrubbed his Instagram again of the 49ers.
08:52And so maybe his eventual return may not be as smooth as I'm healthy.
08:58I'm ready.
08:59And so, you know, to your point about the wide receiver position and the 49ers, you've got
09:04a coach yelling at a, at a receiver in the middle of a two minute drill, by the way, where
09:09he has other things that he probably should and want, would rather be doing.
09:14Yes.
09:14And now you've got Brandon Ayuk again, reportedly scrubbing his feed of Niner content.
09:21Who knows?
09:21He probably thinks he's ready to be back.
09:23And they don't think so.
09:24Yeah.
09:25And, and the 49ers largely, most like all teams, they are, they're trying to, they're
09:32trying to function.
09:33And my God, they've had a lot of adversity to deal with.
09:38And, and what do we have?
09:40And again, I know we're projecting, I'm not in these conversations.
09:43I'm guessing, but so far, what have we got?
09:47We've got Brandon Ayuk, who potentially thinks he's supposed to be playing while the Niners
09:51are sitting here dealing with the complete heart and soul of their team and his legs going
09:56the wrong way.
09:56And in the middle of a two minute drill, we got Juwan Jennings yelling that, that I don't
10:02know, maybe he should be on the field instead of Demarcus Robinson, where he's got, then
10:05admits after the game that he's completely compromised.
10:08I don't even know how the hell he can breathe.
10:11So it's only five broken ribs.
10:13All right.
10:14Let's, let's, you got 24 broken ribs.
10:15I mean, that's barely, it's barely a quarter of his ribs broken.
10:19Are there 24?
10:2012 on each side.
10:21Yeah.
10:21Okay.
10:21Yeah.
10:22So he had 19 other ones.
10:24Yeah.
10:24Yeah.
10:2419 good ones.
10:26Whatever.
10:27Five broken ribs.
10:28Have you ever broken a rib?
10:29Uh, come on.
10:30I know.
10:31That's why I asked.
10:32I've broken a rib.
10:33I've heard it's just awful.
10:35The worst.
10:36Is it awful?
10:36It's awful, especially if it's an upper rib.
10:39Mine was a lower rib, upper rib near the lung.
10:44Like you can't really breathe.
10:45Mine was a lower rib.
10:46And when you have the belly room that I have, it's like, oh, I broke a rib.
10:52Whatever.
10:53You're like, I didn't even know that we had those ribs in there.
10:55I thought I had a tummy ache from those carnitas.
10:58Broken rib.
11:00He had five broken ribs.
11:01He said he's got a low and a high ankle sprain, which I don't even know how this is possible.
11:06But whatever, dude.
11:07Oh, Ed, don't forget his shoulder.
11:08Yeah.
11:09He's in tremendous pain.
11:10And the calf.
11:11The calf is tricky.
11:13So I don't actually know.
11:14Pains are hard.
11:15Oh, my God.
11:16All right.
11:16Let's see.
11:17Just so everybody can weigh in on this.
11:19Here's kind of...
11:19Gotta be delicate with those calves.
11:20So the best of our ability, let's hear what kind of happened on this sideline, at least
11:28from the two gentlemen involved.
11:30All right?
11:31So here's what Juwan Jennings said with regard to the dialogue with Shanahan on the sideline.
11:40Oh, man.
11:41You had to ask him.
11:44Ask him.
11:45He said it was just a conflicted conversation between two people.
11:48Probably.
11:48You had to just ask him.
11:49Okay.
11:50So you got to talk to him.
11:52You got to ask him.
11:52So Juwan doesn't want to have anything to do with it.
11:54Here's him talking about the five broken ribs.
11:57Yeah, I got five broken ribs.
12:00Is your plan to just do pain tolerance?
12:04Oh, yeah.
12:04It's football.
12:05I love pain.
12:05I wouldn't be playing that sport if I didn't.
12:07You know, it's part of it, man.
12:08You got to enjoy every little pain that comes with it.
12:10And pain is one of those.
12:11Okay.
12:12So a football player confirms that football players are crazy.
12:15Yeah.
12:15No problem.
12:16I love pain.
12:17Well, awesome year to be a Niner then.
12:20Because there's plenty of it to go around, apparently.
12:23Here's what Kyle Shanahan said with regard to the interaction with Juwan on the sideline.
12:29Just intense competitive conversation between two people at the end of the second quarter.
12:34But we were good.
12:36Okay.
12:36So just an intense conversation.
12:38Right.
12:39Now, there were follow-ups today with Shanahan.
12:45Two quotes on Juwan.
12:46One about Juwan's honesty about those injuries.
12:50Yeah, I think Juwan's in a good mental space.
12:52I think Juwan's a very emotional player.
12:54I think that's one of the things that makes him great.
12:56So anytime we have a tough loss like that, that he is banged up and playing through a lot of stuff,
13:00you know, I don't think he's in the best mood, especially after a loss like that.
13:04But Juwan is good.
13:06Juwan battles completely to come play in that game.
13:08I know he'll battle it again and do it this week.
13:11Got a lot of love for Juwan.
13:12I hope he can get healthier so he can get back out there and be more consistent for us.
13:16He was also asked about the shouting match.
13:18You know, two people who know each other pretty well and are pretty competitive about it.
13:21Things can have really, really intense conversations that don't always come off as a normal conversation,
13:27just hanging out, you know, after a press conference with you.
13:30But it's stuff that you don't, you know, you don't need to make too many assumptions about
13:36because it wasn't anything that big of a deal.
13:38Yeah, we were aggressive and intense in our conversations.
13:41But I think conversations like that can also lead to making people closer and leading to a better outcome for people.
13:47He was asked also, did he follow up with Juwan today?
13:51And the answer was, no.
13:54Right.
13:55Like, why would you?
13:56No.
13:57Why would you?
13:57If it really is just that, like, intense, competitive people having a conversation in real time,
14:03you don't need to get together and say, you know, Juwan, I'm sorry and stuff that I barked at you.
14:08And, you know, coach, yeah, I lost my cool and I shouldn't have barked at you.
14:12If you're both that competitive and in that moment, it's just a question of, like, you know, put me in.
14:20You know, close your mouth.
14:21Blank you.
14:21No blank you.
14:22All right.
14:23And then, you know, you call the next play.
14:24And that's kind of what I thought it was.
14:26But the bigger question to me is the way the response was from Juwan, where, all right, we're going to start the third quarter and you're out there and you false start.
14:36And then you get in the red zone and Juwan Jennings goes out there and levels in a totally unnecessary offensive PI crackback sort of a block that ultimately made it so you had to settle for a field goal on a drive where if you would have had a touchdown, that game would have been totally different.
14:53There is one question to Shanahan today also about Ayuk.
14:58And in the wake of what you just talked about with him potentially doing something with his Instagram and scrubbing Niners or whatever, I don't even know.
15:04I don't even know, like, the relevancy of that right now because Ayuk is not playing.
15:09But Shanahan was asked when he is expected back.
15:13Yeah, no time frame.
15:14I mean, I always look around that week 10 thing, but we're not putting an exact date on it.
15:17I know he's rehabbing real hard and put together a few good weeks here.
15:20And hopefully he's getting closer and closer, which I believe he is.
15:24But no, we're not giving an exact date on it.
15:26Okay, something around week 10.
15:28He's put some good weeks together, but I don't know.
15:31And maybe that's what ticked Brandon off.
15:33I have no idea.
15:34Maybe he thinks he's ready to go.
15:36Maybe.
15:36I mean, the fact that he, again, for the second time, has scrubbed his social media of Niner content.
15:43And normally, I would think, this is a big nothing burger, but in this day and age of athletes and social media, it's actually more of a thing, I believe.
15:53And, you know, Brandon Ayuk has been very active in his passive-aggressive moves on social media.
16:00And so, yet again, when he does something like this, he's telling all of us that he's not happy with the current situation with the Niners.
16:08By the way, speaking of receiving yardage with the Niners, do you think you could get the top three Niners in terms of receiving yardage in order?
16:20This year?
16:20This year.
16:21In order.
16:22In order.
16:23How do you think it goes?
16:24How do you think their leading receiver is?
16:26In yardage, it would be, I would guess it would go McCaffrey one, Bourne two, and, ooh, three is,
16:37three is tricky, three is hard, I, ah, Tonjes.
16:44Ooh, ooh, ooh, you are doing so well.
16:50Use check?
16:51You're forgetting, when you think of it.
16:53Oh, Pearsall, yeah, there you go.
16:55Still Ricky.
16:56Tonjes is number four.
16:57Yeah, all right.
16:57Tonjes is number four.
16:58Just give me the buzzer, Randy, while you're there.
17:01It would feel much better.
17:01That was good.
17:03I get that he's out of sight, out of mind.
17:04So, anyway, and by the way, of all the injury updates today, is that not the most sort of
17:10head-scratching, concerning one?
17:12Ricky Pearsall's injury update today is, quote, still evaluating.
17:16Right.
17:17And the George Kittle one is, they hope he can play.
17:20Purdy, they hope he's back to practice.
17:23Something tells me that, A, they're telling you that Kittle, I think they think he can probably go.
17:30Purdy, a little bit more of a coin flip, and Pearsall, they're going to hold close to the
17:35vest, because they think they thought he was going to practice and play last week, and
17:38he didn't, so now they don't want to make any promises.
17:41That's kind of just my read, based on what they said today.
17:43And so, if you're Juwan, and you're playing with a bad ankle, high and low, you got a
17:49shoulder issue and five broken ribs, and you can't get the ball, and meanwhile, Ricky's
17:54got, he's got a knee, I mean, he's got a PCL, and, you know, Ricky's not playing.
17:59There's some instability in there, Debs.
18:01There is.
18:01Yeah.
18:02But you're Juwan, and you've got five broken ribs, a bad ankle in two spots, and a bad
18:07shoulder, and you can't get the football?
18:09Maybe you shouldn't be playing.
18:11Well.
18:11Like, admirable.
18:12That's great.
18:13He's playing because he wants his incentives, and he has to do that for incentives, because
18:17your contract that you gave him was all tied to that.
18:21Well, that's a terrible reason to play.
18:23I'm just telling you that if I'm Juwan, this is why he's playing.
18:27And so this is why he's playing, and this is why he's mad, because Demarcus Robinson
18:31couldn't play for three games because he did things that were against the law, and now
18:37he comes back, and he's able to run around and get my passes?
18:40He's healthy.
18:41He's able to get my targets?
18:43He's faster.
18:45He also was a big part of the plan this year.
18:47But he also drops the ball all the time.
18:49No, he dropped one ball.
18:51Let's not do that.
18:52Kendrick Bourne has had, like, six horrible drops.
18:54There's another point.
18:55Like, if you're Juwan, you're looking at both these guys thinking, I mean, can I go out
19:00there and eat?
19:01I don't know, Juwan.
19:02Can you just stay still until we snap the ball?
19:05That was one play.
19:06And I'm playing devil's advocate because, I mean, Demarcus, I mean, that was a gigantic
19:11drop.
19:12Yes, but he came back with a huge catch on the next play.
19:15Like, I mean, they're going to drop some.
19:18Bourne was, like, seriously?
19:22The Jacksonville game was brutal for Kendrick Bourne.
19:24If I'm Juwan Jennings, I'm looking at both of those, and I'm thinking, I've been a soldier
19:29for you.
19:29I'm playing with five broken ribs, and I can't get a target?
19:32Yeah, we're trying to win the game, Juwan.
19:34Right.
19:35Well, throw me the ball, and we might win the game.
19:37I don't know.
19:37You can't.
19:38Can you get open?
19:39Can you move?
19:41He was open on that third in Juwan.
19:42Yeah, well, good catch.
19:45And he got, I think, three targets in the game?
19:48I'd have to look.
19:49Real quick, Dave in the city.
19:51Hi, Dave.
19:51Thanks for the call.
19:52What's up?
19:54What's up with the Tribulation Sensation crew?
19:56Howdy, babe, Dave.
19:57It is.
19:58I think we need to just cut bait on Brandon.
20:01I mean, Jesus Christ.
20:02He's such a diva.
20:04He is such a diva.
20:06Like, last offseason, now he's unfollowing.
20:09I mean, he's already damaged goods.
20:11It's, I mean, just cut bait with the guy.
20:13He can't read the room.
20:14We just lost Fred.
20:16And, like, man, I just feel like there's so much diva-ness going in that locker room with the receiving core.
20:23And if you just, if you don't want to be here, just, you know, say it, and we can get him out of here.
20:29I just have to say that because, yeah.
20:31Dave, I get it.
20:32I get it.
20:32Thanks.
20:33I'm a little hesitant on this one today because I don't actually even know what Brandon did.
20:39And if he did something on social media, okay.
20:43You know, is Brandon mad again?
20:46I don't know.
20:46Our Brandon takes are all, like, you know, see August of 2024 if you want Brandon Iyuk takes.
20:53I wanted them to trade him then.
20:56And my wish has been for a while that when Kyle Shanahan ran upstairs to stop the trade, the door was locked.
21:03If only the door had been locked.
21:05Then maybe Brandon would be a stealer and the Niners would be in better shape financially at that position.
21:11But it didn't happen.
