02:22We do begin tonight with breaking news and the battle to release the Jeffrey Epstein files.
02:26Tonight, the House Oversight Committee receiving some documents that it had subpoenaed from the Jeffrey Epstein estate,
02:32including a birthday book filled with letters marking Epstein's 50th birthday from many of his friends.
02:37Tonight, Democrats releasing an image of the sexually suggestive birthday letter that they say was written and signed by President Trump to Epstein in 2003.
02:46The president and the White House tonight saying he did not write it.
02:49Jay O'Brien leading us off from Capitol Hill tonight.
02:53Tonight, under subpoena, the estate of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein delivering to the Republican-led House Oversight Committee the so-called birthday book.

03:35News of the letter's existence was first reported back in July by the Wall Street Journal.
03:40At the time, Trump called it fake.
03:42I don't even know what they're talking about.
03:44Now, somebody could have written a letter and used my name.
03:47Then saying this.
03:48I'm not a drawing person.
03:50I don't do drawings of women, that I can tell you.
03:53They say there's a drawing of a woman, and I don't do drawings of women.
03:57The president quickly filing a $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the journal and its conservative owner, Rupert Murdoch.
04:04Tonight, the White House doubling down.
04:06Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt writing,
04:08President Trump did not draw this picture and he did not sign it,
04:12saying Trump's lawyers will continue to aggressively pursue litigation.
04:16Trump and Epstein were friends for more than a decade in the 1990s.
04:20The birthday book was given to Epstein in 2003, three years before he was first arrested for sex crimes.
04:27The messages were compiled by Epstein's accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving 20 years for sex trafficking.
04:34She described the book in her recent interview with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche.
04:38I coordinated the putting together of the book.
04:42And in some instances, I call people that ask them to contribute.
04:47What was Blanche, who used to be the president's personal lawyer, asking Maxwell if Trump had contributed a message to the book?
04:53She told him she didn't remember.
04:56David, we're hearing tonight from the attorney for dozens of Epstein victims,
04:59many of whom were up here on Capitol Hill just last week for an emotional news conference.
05:04He's blasting what he calls President Trump's hypocrisy, saying it's frustrated many of the victims.
05:10And he's calling on the president to withdraw his lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal and to publicly apologize.

05:19There are late images coming in tonight as we're on the air in the west, a massive wildfire exploding outside San Diego.
05:25Flames destroying multiple structures, including homes residents ordered to evacuate.

05:35A massive firefighting response to a fast-moving blaze erupting out of the brush in Lakeside, northeast of San Diego.
05:43Multiple structures involved from his vantage point is spotting way out ahead.
05:47The fire breaking out just before 3 p.m. local time.
05:50Families in the area told to evacuate.
05:53Chopper video from our San Diego affiliate, KGTV, showing multiple structures engulfed.
05:58At least one person injured. It's not clear the extent.
06:03Firefighters stopping forward progress on the fire after about an hour, but the damage was already done.
06:08Cal Fire saying at least four structures were destroyed.
06:12David, dry conditions and gusty winds are fueling this fire.
06:16A wind advisory is in effect in this area through tomorrow.

06:29At least six people killed, more than a dozen wounded.

06:34This was the moment Palestinian gunmen opened fire on commuters waiting at a bus stop in Jerusalem today.
06:42A dashcam video capturing terrified passengers fleeing for cover.
06:47Two gunmen targeting passengers before boarding a packed bus, opening fire, killing six and wounding more than a dozen.
06:55An off-duty soldier and other bystanders stepping in, returning shots and killing the two attackers.
07:00This is where the attack happened this morning. You can clearly see the four bullet holes.
07:05This is actually the bus behind, with tens and tens of people running for cover.
07:10Without claiming responsibility, Hamas praising today's attacks as the IDF escalates its aerial assault on Gaza City.
07:20Dramatic video showing some of the 50 high-rises being levelled in the last two days.
07:25And what Israel says is the pursuit of Hamas.
07:28David, despite the violence, President Trump's still hopeful that a ceasefire and hostage deal can be done.
07:35Issuing a final warning to Hamas to accept it or face consequences.
07:39But tonight, the militants pouring cold water on the U.S. proposal, saying it doesn't offer any guarantees of an end to the war.

08:12Tonight, harrowing new video of a small jet overshooting a runway as it landed in Boca Raton, Florida, less than a mile from a busy road.
08:20I do have crash vehicles inbound.
08:23The FAA saying the aircraft arriving from Las Vegas was stopped by a specially designed bed of lightweight, crushable material intended to slow down aircraft.
08:32The plane carrying four people last week.
08:35No serious injuries reported.
08:38And tonight, this dramatic hard landing scene on live stream video.
08:42The right landing gear appearing to collapse as a WestJet plane touches down on the Caribbean island of St. Martin.
08:48Video circulating online appearing to capture the frightened screams inside the cabin on Sunday.
08:58The 164 passengers and crew on board from Toronto evacuating down emergency slides at the Princess Juliana International Airport.
09:07Authorities saying no injuries were reported, but three people were taken for medical evaluation out of an abundance of caution.
09:14David, as for that safety system in Boca Raton, there are at least 70 airports across the U.S. that use them.
09:21It stopped a plane in Chicago with two people on board last week.

09:29We have learned tonight police have arrested a 13-year-old boy.
09:32They say he was planning to open fire at a school outside Seattle.
09:36And what they've now found inside the family home.
09:38Here's Trevor Ault.
09:39Tonight, police in Washington say this is the arsenal of weapons found in the home of a 13-year-old boy who they believe was planning a school massacre.
09:49This was something major that was going to happen.
09:51The young suspect appearing in court today pleading not guilty to multiple felonies.
09:56In charging documents, prosecutors say the teen had written multiple threats on social media, sharing photographs holding semi-automatic rifles dressed in the attire of past school shooters.
10:06One post saying in part, my time is almost here, I hope I kill you all.
10:12It was very obvious, it was a matter of time before people were going to be hurt.
10:18Authorities claim in his room they found a gas mask and a backpack full of ammunition, including several AR-style magazines which had writing on them referencing mass shootings.
10:28And, David, police tell us they seized nearly two dozen weapons from the suspect's home.
10:33And they say many of them were 3-D printed and untraceable.

10:44Police say the suspect sitting behind an unsuspecting passenger on a train in North Carolina, then rising up and attacking her.
10:51We will not show the video of the attack itself, but we warn you, this is disturbing.

10:55Tonight, growing outrage after a gruesome, random attack on a commuter train in Charlotte.
11:02The newly released surveillance video begins like an ordinary night.
11:06Irina Zarutska getting on the train, still wearing the hat and T-shirt from the restaurant where she just finished her shift.
11:12Seated behind her, in the red sweatshirt, is DeCarlos Brown Jr.
11:16About four and a half minutes later, Brown rises from his seat and, unprovoked, the video shows him stab her multiple times.
11:26Brown walking through the car with blood dripping behind him as a crowd of people rushed to tend to Zarutska, who was declared dead at the scene.
11:34Officers arresting Brown as he stepped off the train.
11:3723-year-old Irina Zarutska was born in Kyiv.
11:40She fled the war in Ukraine with her family in 2022, who write in her obituary that she was a gifted and passionate artist and loved animals.
11:49DeCarlos Brown is a repeat offender with a violent history, including armed robbery, with a misdemeanor case pending at the time of the attack.
11:57He's now facing first-degree murder, the incident drawing national attention and outrage from President Trump, who spoke against cashless bail.
12:05Cashless bail started a wave in our country where a killer kills somebody and is out on the street by the afternoon, in many cases going out and killing again.
12:16David, the suspect also has a history of mental health issues.
12:20A judge has ordered he be evaluated at a hospital.
12:23The suspect is due in court later this month.

12:41David, the city of Chicago is bracing for an immigration enforcement surge after the president posted on social media over the weekend
12:48that the city was, quote, about to find out why it's called the Department of War.
12:53He later downplayed the post, and there's still no word on when the National Guard might be deployed in Chicago.
12:58But today, Homeland Security officials announced Operation Midway Bliss has been launched,
13:04which they say will target the worst of the worst foreign nationals accused of crimes.
13:09And today, the administration got more leeway for aggressive immigration enforcement
13:13after the Supreme Court lifted restrictions on ICE agents operating in California whose tactics had been criticized as racial profiling.

14:39Tonight, the West Point Association of Graduates telling the Washington Post the decision to cancel the ceremony allows it to focus on its core mission of preparing cadets to lead, fight, and win.
14:49But Hanks has been a critic of President Trump, whose administration ordered West Point to throw out books on topics including diversity and racism and to disband cultural and professional student clubs.
15:00Tonight, President Trump praising the move on social media, saying West Point smartly canceled the ceremony, adding,
15:06We don't need destructive, woke recipients getting our cherished American awards.
15:10And David, it's unclear whether Hanks will still receive the award, just without the ceremony.
15:15And we have reached out to West Point, that Alumni Association, and Tom Hanks, but have not heard back.
