00:19He freaked
00:20It's just fucking ugly
00:21I think the vegetables are really getting to him

01:02This is Project Runway Australia
01:05Can't buy style
01:07Break the rules
01:08The search for Australia's next big fashion designer
01:11I want to see the passion in your fashion
01:13Just try to ignore me
01:15Who will be in?
01:16Who will be out?
01:17I'm in
01:18They're out
01:19I don't think so
01:21For these 12 designers
01:23Project Runway is the chance of a lifetime
01:27Yopie left us last night
01:37Very sad
01:38My little Asian sister
01:39She did some really interesting work
01:41Like
01:42Yeah
01:43I think she just had a few time management problems
01:47Yeah she is
01:48Time management, yeah
01:49It's really scary
01:50There's only five of us left in the competition
01:52It's really getting down to the nitty gritty bits
01:54On who goes and who stays
01:56So
01:57I'm really going to have to fight to stay in the competition
01:59Five to go
02:00I know
02:01Do you feel the pressure?
02:02Yeah I do
02:03I felt the pressure last week
02:04There's only two challenges left
02:06And I guess they will be harder from here on
02:09So we arrived at the White House
02:24And Henry was waiting there to meet us
02:28Well well designers
02:30How are you this morning?
02:31Ready for your next challenge?
02:33Yeah
02:34Follow me
02:35Yeah
02:36Follow me
02:37Yeah
02:38He led us into this big open empty space
02:41With these random mannequins lying around
02:43We were thinking what is going on?
02:44No way
02:45No way
02:46This is the first beautiful building
02:47Mannequin
02:48The space was amazing
02:51And it was really nerve wracking
02:53I was nervous
02:55Take a stand right there designers
02:57Thank you
02:58Wow
02:59What is it?
03:00It is well
03:01Designers
03:02Each of you must create
03:05Three ready to wear outfits for summer 2010
03:10Oh my god
03:12All three outfits must be women's wear
03:15And must include a pant, a blouse and a jacket
03:19It's essential that all three outfits are cohesive
03:22And clearly from the same collection
03:24Wow
03:25This is massive
03:26Yes
03:27Yes
03:28I was thinking crap
03:30Let's hope we have a decent amount of time to do this
03:33Else I am not going to pull this one off
03:35Now if you think that sounds like a big ask
03:38Oh my god
03:40Just wait till you hear how long you've got to complete the challenge
03:44Oh my god
03:45I don't want to go home
03:48All three outfits must be finished by tonight
04:01I had to cover my face when Henry told us the challenge because I thought I was going to vomit
04:07And I didn't want it getting over the other contestants
04:11That gives you just 12 hours to complete three entire outfits
04:18I cracked
04:19It was just crazy
04:20I think I've been consistently handling the stress in this competition well but the pressure was just too much
04:26However, I do realise that this is a huge ask of you so I've called in some reinforcements to help you with this challenge
04:39There's so many of them
04:46Look how fresh and cute and young they are
04:49How many of them are they?
04:50This is what I call reinforcements
04:52Give them a bit of a welcome
05:01Designers standing around us are the students from the White House Institute of Design
05:06You must each choose three White House students to form your design team for this challenge
05:13As a head designer, you must lead your team towards your vision
05:19It's another team challenge and with people that we don't know
05:24Yeah, I'm going grey as we speak
05:27It's vital that you select the right people for your team
05:31Because they could be the difference between remaining in this competition and leading it
05:38I have never been a head designer before so I was really worried
05:43So please use your time wisely to find out as much as you can about each and every one of these students
05:50Okay designers, you have 20 minutes and your time starts now
05:56My name's Simon
05:58Hi Simon, are you in the first year?
06:00I'm in the first year
06:01One of the first people I approached was this great guy called Simon
06:04But then I thought, if he's going to be on the runway next to me, he's going to outshine me
06:08So you are Nova, honey, I'll talk to you later
06:11So I was like, nah, next
06:13Anybody good with bias binding?
06:15No
06:16No
06:17First or second year girls?
06:18First
06:19Any second years here?
06:20No, no second years?
06:21How do we actually pick these students?
06:23How do we know what they're capable of?
06:25So who thinks they can help me win Project Runway?
06:27Me
06:28Me
06:29Yeah
06:30I didn't have reference checks so I had to start asking stupid questions because I had no idea
06:34Who's Piscean?
06:35I'm Piscean
06:36Oh Piscean
06:37So yeah
06:38Okay, where do you live?
06:39I'm going to go with
06:40By the South Bank
06:41Richmond
06:42Richmond
06:43My tactics were, what are your strengths, what are your weaknesses and do you work well under pressure?
06:48Okay, how are your pattern making skills?
06:50Good, really good
06:51Sewing skills?
06:52Really good
06:53Said that they liked drawing and styling but really that's no help to me, I need a sewer
06:59Alright, sorry, I'll get you to hop in the middle and I'll just find someone else
07:02I needed people who could work as friends in a team, I didn't want any bitchiness going on so I ended up choosing Chloe, Greg and Katie, they were friends and I was really really happy with my selection
07:16Hopefully we'll tap into yours
07:18Hopefully we'll tap into yours
07:19Yeah
07:20Yay
07:21My three students were all first years, Andrew I chose him because he looked like he could take direction
07:26Then Val because she could sew and then Bianca, I thought she just looked like she'd get on with the job
07:33You work well under pressure?
07:34Yeah I do, I probably work better under pressure
07:36It was more instinctual than anything
07:38I've just gone with who I thought actually looked sensible, so I'm going to take you three girls
07:45Okay, I've got my little team beside me and I'm feeling pretty happy with the situation
07:51Alright designers, your time's up, please gather into your groups immediately
07:55I saw one girl who was crying, we didn't get chosen, so I felt a bit guilty, but you know, welcome to the fashion industry, bitch
08:05Now that you've selected your design teams, it's time for you to select your models
08:12Each of you must choose three students to model your three outfits
08:19The disadvantage of using real people for runway models is they could probably look really cheesy
08:24and like stupid on the catwalk
08:27They can be students from your design team or the students that are remaining
08:32You've got two minutes, let's go
08:40So of course there had to be an extra twist, which was that the students also had to model the outfits that we were making
08:47Okay, cool, let's go
08:49I chose one of the students that I already had, Kate
08:52because we had to do pants and so I could fit the pants on her
08:55She was with me all the time and I had two other girls to grab
08:59I'm with them, do you want to come with us?
09:02I decided to use two of my assistants and someone from the remaining students obviously
09:08because Greg couldn't model
09:10I definitely went on looks, I didn't want anyone to look silly on the catwalks
09:16So I found Simon, I thought he's going to work it even though it's women's wear
09:21He had better legs than half the girls
09:23You're going to be an amazing drag queen
09:25Alright designers, your time's up, can you please form into your groups immediately
09:30We had our design assistants and our models and we were off to the workroom to start this crazy challenge
09:37Well designers, you're now the head of each and every one of your teams
09:41Are you ready to see the passion in your fashion?
09:45Yes!
09:46Up to the workroom, let's go!
09:48Next, on Project Runway Australia
09:57This is a huge responsibility
10:00Henry! Come on!
10:02This could kill our designs
10:05Fuck me
10:06I'm just really over this before we've even started
10:15Alright, everybody take your positions please
10:17Henry led us into the workroom
10:19We had our design assistants and our models
10:21And we were to make three ready to wear outfits for summer 2010
10:27I'm actually really worried about this challenge
10:29Because I'm usually the design assistant, I'm never the head designer
10:33Designers, knowing how to run a successful team is all about delegation
10:39As a head designer, you have to allocate your duties appropriately
10:44And play to each team member's strengths
10:47You also need to trust the people that you're working with
10:51They're going to hit us with a bombshell
10:53I can feel it
10:54You must select one member from your team
10:56To send...
10:58To wrap down fabrics
11:03Henry! Come on!
11:05Stress levels rose pretty much instantly
11:07Fabric is so important to these design challenges
11:11So the idea of sending off a first year design student
11:14To purchase fabrics wasn't too great
11:16This is a huge responsibility
11:19You'll be giving one member of your team
11:23They will have $180 and 25 minutes
11:27To purchase all the materials needed for this challenge
11:3125 minutes
11:34Fuck me
11:35I'm just really over this before we've even started
11:39Okay, let me get my pad
11:41Henry gave us 10 minutes to decide on who's going to go to Rathdown Fabrics
11:45So you're happy to do this?
11:46Yeah
11:47Yeah, okay
11:48Good, thank you
11:49My initial idea for the collection was that I would do some resort pieces
11:54So my major priority for Maria was that she get bright pastels in voil
12:00Raspberry pink or pale green
12:03I'm thinking we can do...
12:05I was very clear in my brief to Jazz on what fabrics I wanted
12:10I want to be quite 80s rockstar and a bit fun and playful
12:15My design vision for this challenge was a cruise collection
12:20So a bit more glamorous, elegant
12:22Knits in basic colours like cream or beige
12:27Fabric selection can make or break an outfit
12:31How would you feel matching pinks?
12:33Um, yeah, okay
12:35That sort of pink
12:37No
12:38This is absolutely crazy
12:40This could kill our designs
12:43Designers, time is up
12:46Those team members going to Rathdown Fabrics
12:48Out this way, please
12:50And make it snappy
12:51You're not...
12:52You're not leaving for six months
12:53It's a couple of hours
12:54Come on
12:55Let's go
12:56Let's go
12:57Let's go
12:58Thank you
12:59Thank you very much
13:00Oh God, the youth of Australia, tell you what
13:09The wrong fabric selection from one of these students could send a designer home
13:14I'll grab that
13:15I'll grab that
13:16Maria seemed very calm
13:17I thought she'd be able to deal really well with the situation
13:21I ended up choosing Tess because she's been to Rathdown Fabrics before
13:26Fingers crossed she comes back with something good
13:29She wanted seven metres each, that's not going to happen
13:30I chose Chloe because she seemed someone who would know how to match the colours
13:35I just trusted her instinctively
13:37Yeah, that might have to do
13:38Yeah
13:40Black cord
13:42Black cord
13:43Yeah
13:44There is pressure on Jazz to pick the right fabrics
13:46But I have faith in her
13:48I didn't give her too many options
13:49I gave a lot of priorities
13:51I was really specific about what I wanted
13:55Safe for you
13:56Thanks ladies
13:57Bye
13:58Bye
14:03She'll be okay
14:04She'll be okay
14:05Just a blast
14:06We're about three hours in the challenge and I still don't have my materials
14:09That is really stressing me out
14:11I don't know how to work my design without my fabrics
14:16There are some design decisions that you just can't make until you actually see what you're going to be wearing
14:21But there's so much work to be done that we just need to get on with the job of actually starting some pattern making
14:29So cut along there
14:32Yep
14:33Okay, so I'm cutting it all, spreading it all out
14:35Yep
14:36Don't bother tracing it off
14:37Just probably cut that bit and stick a bit of paper and retrace that bit there
14:42Okay, yeah
14:43You get the back block of the dress
14:46I need fabric, like we've done the patterns, I need to start cutting and get some sewing done
14:50I don't know where the heck Bianca is
14:53Hopefully she's got something that suits the patterns that we're doing
14:56Otherwise I'm screwed
14:57When Chloe walked through the door, I was so happy because I was like, now we can finally start this collection
15:10Seeing it all on the table together, there were a few things that were off tonally
15:15So I've just got to figure out what fabric is throwing me off
15:22Alright, I pulled out the fabrics and I thought, oh my god, there's nothing in here that's even remotely cohesive
15:29You can do like a red
15:32I was trying to put on a brave face because I thought, I don't want to piss her off and make her feel bad
15:37But there's nothing here that's really good to work with
15:42Yeah
15:43Oh, okay
15:47It was the best of what was there
15:49Yeah, it's always the way, yeah
15:51I'm really happy with what Maria's brought back for us
15:54Oh, pretty
15:55I wanted to work with bright colours
15:57I thought it would be nice and fresh and summery
16:00One as well
16:01Jazz purchased this gold lame
16:04I'm really happy with that
16:05I like that
16:06Then she pulled out this coral jersey
16:08Oh, I love it
16:09That's nice
16:11And then
16:12Do you mean cord or like actual cord?
16:14She pulls out two metres of black corduroy
16:18And I'm like, oh my god
16:20Do you really think black corduroy is going to be in for next summer 2010?
16:25Alright, um
16:27Great
16:28I think it'll work, yeah
16:29Very summery
16:35We are in way over our heads
16:37To make three ready to wear outfits for summer 2010 in 12 hours is just nuts
16:43Can you top stitch all the seams?
16:46Yeah
16:48The pressure this time is so full on
16:53I don't know how I'm going to deal with this situation
16:55The shoulders
16:57I've been in the bottom two twice recently and I've still got a lot to prove
17:02Cool
17:04Great
17:06I could really sense William being really stressed and I felt so sorry for him because of his fabric choice
17:12I've never felt pressure like this before because I've never put myself in such a stupid position
17:22Not loving it
17:24I've lost perspective, I'm just tired now
17:26I'd kind of hit rock bottom because I thought, oh my god, how are we going to get through this?
17:36Trying so fast but not too fast so we make mistakes
17:39Having to manage a team and develop this collection using their help, I have never done anything like this
17:46I'm hoping the fact that I've dealt with a lot of students will give me an advantage over the other designers
17:53We'll work out those positions
17:55There are lots of things that they don't know
17:57Got that on both sides
17:58So if they make mistakes, those mistakes have to be rectified pretty much instantly
18:03You'll just cut through one layer though
18:05I'm very confident with my team
18:07So just make sure you do the one centimetre around
18:10Yeah, yeah
18:11You'll teach first, then they don't fuck it up in the end
18:14Just make sure you keep the numbers with the panels
18:16Oh, good job
18:19I wanted them to enjoy it and love what we were making which was really important
18:24So, we're having fun
18:25Wow, what a home of activity in here with all the design teams
18:38How are you all doing?
18:39Good
18:40Excellent
18:41What I'd like to do is have a little perusal of your creativity
18:45Are you ready for me?
18:46Yes
18:47Henry's coming for our critiques
18:49And I'm in a pretty good position to show him where I'm at
18:52Do you like your fabrics? Is this what you wanted?
18:55It was actually, yeah
18:58Marth's fabrics are terrible
19:01It's going to look like ice cream
19:04Alright, what I'm seeing is a potpourri of styling
19:08Some of it's very young, some of it's a bit old, some of it's in between
19:13This to me is completely out of kilter
19:16Sure
19:17You need to know who your market is
19:19Yeah
19:20You need to know who's wearing it and who's not wearing it
19:22Yeah
19:23Until you know how can I know and how the judge is going to know
19:25Okay
19:26Good luck, my friend
19:27Good luck
19:28My immediate thought after Henry walked away was that
19:31I really have to get my act together
19:33I want to create something more unisex style
19:35So, we've sort of gone for a vintagey kind of fabric
19:38A bit retro, a bit almost grandma chic
19:41Look, I love coming to see your work because I know always one thing you're going to guarantee me
19:45It's going to be out there
19:46It's going to be out there
19:47And that's great
19:48Yeah
19:49You have a point of view
19:51The thing that I think you've got to be weary of
19:54Is going to grandma chic and making sure that you get out of it successfully
19:59Yeah, definitely
20:00Because it's such a fine line that you're walking
20:02I've got to tell you young lady, you are starting to emerge as somebody to truly and absolutely watch
20:14And that's my official opinion on the matter
20:16I honestly love what I'm seeing
20:18I think that made my day
20:20I've really been stressed about this collection and getting it done
20:24I might just be able to pull this off
20:27It's got attitude
20:29It's a collection
20:31I can feel summer
20:33It's fresh, it's understated
20:35And it looks like it's very well made
20:37I really see your signature coming through
20:40You could absolutely win this competition
20:42Bet you've got a lot of work to do
20:44Good luck
20:46Thanks Henry
20:48You know I only say what I mean
20:49At the moment, the fabric doesn't seem right with the shapes
21:00It looks like old fabric, old silhouetted fabric
21:05On old silhouetted shapes
21:07Henry's critique didn't go well
21:10He gave me a real verbal kick up the ass
21:13It's what I needed, I had to change tacks
21:16You've got this fabric, and I think you can be cleverer with it
21:18I think you can be more contemporary with it
21:20That's what I honestly think
21:22You're under a lot of stress, but you can do it
21:24I'm relying on you because you're a great designer
21:26Go to it. Thank you
21:28Contemporise your shapes more
21:30Thank you
21:34Looking over at William, he's the most on edge I've ever seen him
21:38There's two hours to go and there's still a lot of things that have to be finished
21:48So it was a little bit tense
21:51You might need those pants too
21:53Ivana is relying heavily on her team to sew
21:56I think it's a bit dangerous because they're first year students
22:00They learned to sew two weeks ago, honey
22:02Something's wrong with my machine
22:04Ivana's put a lot of pressure on her students to perform for her
22:06I don't know, she's really not dealing with the situation very well in my eyes
22:13I definitely think Ivana's got a lot of style, but her construction will let her down
22:18It doesn't matter, that's fine
22:20One hour left and everything's coming together, the end's in sight
22:30It's been a very, very long day
22:36I'm feeling like I want to cry
22:38This has been one hell of a challenge
22:42Oh my God!
22:44Twelve hours is up, I'm just wrecked and hating the world right now
22:51Yay, sleep time!
22:54Next, on Project Runway Australia
22:58Designers, you have just a little under 10 minutes
23:01Ivana isn't coping the best with the stress
23:04I can't believe it
23:06Oh my God, nothing's finished
23:08No!
23:10Fuck's sake, it's just driving me nuts
23:11It's runway morning and I feel much better
23:24I've written a list in my head of everything that needs to be done
23:27And I just want to get in and finish it
23:29Somebody's going home today too
23:31I know, I can't to piece with everything
23:34If the judges hate this outfit
23:36They hate it and I can't do anything about it, so that's fine
23:38At this stage, I'm not sure what the judges will think
23:42Sarah will be a bit freaked out that I've chosen a male model for women's wear
23:46But it's very young and playful
23:48So as long as I get that, that's fine
23:50Ivana, how are you feeling about your stuff today?
23:52Well, a bit nervous, I still have to finish
23:54Yeah, I have three more things to finish off
23:57This challenge has tested me to the maximum
24:01And with only five designers left, it feels very scary actually
24:05Walking into the workroom this morning, so many people have still got such a lot to do
24:17Yeah, it's pretty tense
24:19None of my workers turned up this morning to help me finish
24:23So I have quite a bit to do
24:26I can usually get it done by myself anyway
24:28I would love to win this challenge because it would really show that I'm here
24:31And I'm going to be here to the end of this competition and give them a run for their money
24:37But I really need to get everything sewn to perfection
24:48Oh, designers, assistant designers, head designers, there's wall-to-wall designers in here, isn't there?
24:54Yeah
24:55How are you all doing?
24:56Very well
24:57You have two and a half hours to get everything completed
25:01You've got all the tools of the trade here for you to work with
25:04So, make sure that you go to the Gregory Ladner accessories wall
25:08Andrea and Yohan have got some amazing shoes
25:11And don't forget you're going to need to send your models to the Max Factor makeup area and also the Trissame hair salon
25:18Are you ready for me to bring in your models?
25:20Yes
25:21Well, that's good, here we go
25:22The models, woo!
25:26Welcome!
25:28My models loved the outfits, I was so excited
25:31I'm so jealous of you right now
25:33Anthony's collection is very Anthony
25:37And I do believe he's really going places
25:42William's collection is probably the worst work that I've seen him create
25:45He's got these terracotta coloured shorts on one of the girls and I just don't understand how that fits back with the other two looks that he's created
25:58It might get you up when you walk
26:00Yeah, I've really made the best of a goddamn awful situation and I've seen Mike's outfits so I feel safe
26:09One hour to go and there's still a lot of things that have to be finished
26:21Ivana isn't coping the best with the stress
26:24There's so many things that I still have to finish off and that really drove me nuts
26:31The stress just kept on going and going and I couldn't stop myself so I started swearing at the sewing machine
26:38Nooo, for fuck's sake, it's just driving me nuts at the moment
26:44Ivana's so far behind it's not funny
26:48She's not fast, that's what it boils down to, you need to be quick
26:52I can't believe it
26:56Maybe just like a little bit more fullness around the top
26:59Just a nice light curl on the bottom
27:01Which part does it go on?
27:04Which part does it go on?
27:12It's all about lips
27:13Okay
27:15I'm doing accessories in that kind of colour
27:19I'll do a curl there
27:21I think it'll look great
27:22Do you want any earrings?
27:23No, it's like mine
27:25Yeah, good
27:27Alright designers and teams, you have just a little under 10 minutes
27:36My models were all really happy with the outfits that they had to wear
27:41Design wise, I'm happy but my major concern is my pants
27:47Yeah, I don't know whether they're going to go down very well with the judges
27:53You really just never know
27:58To be honest I was really unsure what the judges would think of my collection
28:02They might either love it or think it's just stupid
28:05Stupid dun dun dun
28:06There are a few things that I'm worried about
28:12I haven't had time to adjust the fit off the top
28:16And also the cuffs of the shorts were done like that
28:20And I'm worried that they're uneven
28:24Designers, your time is up
28:27Everything down please
28:29Let's go
28:31Thank you everybody, good luck
28:32When I walked out of the workroom I thought, oh my god, nothing's finished
28:38I was quite upset
28:40The further you get in the competition, the harder it gets
28:43And now off
28:49Next, on Project Runway Australia
28:51I don't get the cohesion here
28:54It's a bit of a clunker
28:56She looks like Judy Jetson from here or something
28:58Hello designers
29:06Hi Christy
29:08Welcome to The Runway
29:10As you know, in fashion, one day you're in
29:13The next day, you're out
29:19This week saw you take on your biggest challenge yet
29:21When you were asked to design not one, not two, but three ready-to-wear outfits for summer 2010
29:32For this challenge, you were given just 12 hours to complete all three outfits
29:37So, we recruited students from the White House Institute of Design to help you meet your deadline
29:44It was your job to ensure your team work towards creating your vision
29:50Which means, as head designers, you must take ultimate responsibility for what comes down the runway today
29:57Now, let's meet the judges
30:01First up, we have leading Australian designer, Jason Brunston
30:04Hi designers
30:05Hi
30:07Next, we have fashion buyer extraordinaire, Sarah Gale
30:10Hi everyone
30:11Hi Sarah
30:12And our guest judge this week
30:14He's a regular feature at New York Fashion Week
30:16And his designs are favoured by such international stars as Eva Mendes, Sharon Stone and Rihanna
30:23Please welcome one of Australia's hottest designers, Aurelio Costarella
30:27Hi designers
30:29They will decide if you have what it takes to make the cut
30:33We will score your designs as they come down the runway
30:37The designer with the highest score will be the winner
30:39And one of you will be out
30:42Let the show begin
30:44When I saw my designs on the runway, I was actually really happy because it looked really beautiful
30:52And all those details that I thought weren't finished properly, you couldn't actually see that
30:57Ivana's designs is very much her, it's exactly what she wanted, they just look super super cute
31:09I definitely think Ivana's got a lot of style
31:11As a collection it was very cohesive, but if there was anything I could change in my design right now it would be the pants and the fitting
31:27But it's done now
31:28I am pretty confident about the design vision, I do think it's a cohesive collection
31:39At this stage I think I have a chance to win
31:43I think my bright colour palette will work well for me, the garments are completely wearable, I think they're comfortable, I think they work quite well for summer 2010
32:01I'm really happy he decided to take out the green and just work with the pinks because that would have thrown everything off
32:13Mark's designs are classics with a twist, there's always an edge to his designs
32:18I was happy, they looked confident, they looked comfortable in what they were wearing, it was good to see after such a lot of work something positive on the catwalk
32:39After seeing the collections finish, I definitely think Mark's aesthetic is very limited to a small niche
32:45It's not my cup of tea, but I'm sure there's some ladies out there who would love it
32:57When I saw my designs on the runway, surprisingly it felt really good
33:03And I thought, wow, the students did an amazing job
33:09When I saw William's collection, it's very different to what I've seen and do before
33:12But I still thought it was very cohesive and he fitted different models sizes, which is what the real world's about
33:24William's definitely turned his collection around from Henry's critique
33:28It looks young and fresh, it looks really good
33:31Is there anything that I would change about my design?
33:36Yeah, I'd probably go pick the fabric myself
33:40Seeing my designs on the runway, it actually looked really good all together
33:42I was really proud of myself and my team for helping me pull this off
33:45I'm really impressed with what Lauren's pulled out, she's got a strong look
33:51It's very much her, and I think the judges will appreciate that fact
33:55Lauren blows me away how much she's grown
33:56She's going to be in the top three, definitely
33:58She's going to be in the top three, definitely
33:59I'm really impressed with what Lauren's pulled out, she's got a strong look
34:04What Lauren's pulled out, she's got a strong look, it's very much her, and I think the judges will appreciate that fact
34:18Lauren blows me away how much she's grown
34:22She's going to be in the top three, definitely
34:26Every week she's just stronger and stronger, loving it
34:28I think my collection is slightly more cohesive than the other collections because it works together a lot better
34:40The girls look gorgeous, I think I did well in that department
34:51My design compared to the others, they're probably a bit more simple, but I think they're very effective in terms of fabrication
34:58And design lines, so I'm very happy with my finished product
35:09Anthony's design is really cute, he's pulled it out and made Coral Jersey look amazing
35:16Anthony showed once again what he's really capable of, he's really going places
35:22I think my collection does fit the wearable, cohesive and commercial range
35:31There's nothing that will change about my designs on the runway, I'm very happy with it
35:37When I saw my three models walk down the runway, I was like, awww, so cute
35:47I was actually laughing because I think they're like little mini-me's on the catwalk
35:53So I was very proud of them and my design assistants
35:56And I think we may have pulled off another challenge
35:58We've scored your designs and we'd like to talk to all of you
36:10Ivana, we're going to start with you, let's bring out your models
36:15Jason, what are your thoughts?
36:18I think from a design point of view, there's something interesting about the jacket
36:22What I would question is just the amount of effort involved in the design work
36:27There's a one sleeve top, there's a jodhpury kind of thing, there's a short, there's a one sleeve top again, and there's a shift dress, it's very basic
36:49It does look like it's a collection, but this pant, it doesn't scream summer to me
36:57And the other issue I have is with the way that you've worked the silk and jersey together
37:03You can certainly do that, but I don't think it's been that well executed
37:06I have a few issues with your finishes, certainly on your hemline, with that dress, it's doing this
37:12It really is an unacceptable thing to do
37:15Well, yes, in 12 hours
37:16That's why it's called a challenge
37:19I know, it was really challenging
37:22Thank you models, you can leave the runway
37:25Thank you girls
37:28Anthony, let's bring out your models
37:36Tell me a bit about the concept behind your collection
37:39The first thing I did was think of my market, so it was very much the younger people, 16 to 20
37:44So I was thinking colour, bright, vibrancy
37:48I think you're very clever, because you've taken each item, the blouse, the pant, and the jacket, and built the entire outfit around that item, and it just says Anthony, it just expresses your personality, and yet it does have a commercial viability to it as well, which I think is very clever, and I think your colour choice is really bold and quite original
38:10What was your thinking behind having a male model, when the brief was all female?
38:15I wear women's clothing myself, and I don't think you need to pigeonhole it into gender specific, so I thought he was as beautiful and sexy as the other girls out there, so I thought, let's put him there
38:25I can see that you have a vision, and I know exactly who you're pitching this to
38:30I love what I call the Minnie Mouse onesie, I think that's cute, and the gold jackets, so, Alexis Carrington
38:37I want that jacket
38:38Get in line, honey
38:40I want it too
38:41Thank you models, you can leave the runway
38:46Mark, let's bring out your models
38:48Sarah, what did you think of Mark's collection?
39:01For me, I don't get the cohesion here
39:04I understand it through the colour, but I'm a bit lost on a couple of your pieces, to be honest
39:09Right
39:10Could you have your models turn around for me, please?
39:12Sure
39:13Those pants at the back, I don't think are a commercial shape at all, and I think they'd be really, really hard for most figures to wear
39:24She looks like Judy Jetson from here or something, it's just very strange
39:29So what is your market, like, who's wearing these pieces?
39:3225 to 40 year old women
39:34I'd say more 40
39:35More 40
39:36I think they age your models
39:38Are you happy with it, with the way it's turned out?
39:40I was happy with it, actually, yeah
39:42Yeah
39:43Thank you models, you can leave the runway
39:45William, let's bring out your models
39:58Aurelio, what do you think of William's collection?
40:02First and last look are clearly part of the same collection
40:06But your second look, it's a bit of a clunker, it doesn't really look like it belongs with the rest of it
40:11It kind of boiled down to fabrics, because we sent someone off to get fabrics
40:16I had eight pieces of fabric, and there were really four that I could use
40:19Some of them were just random colours and prints
40:23Is that because you didn't give them the right direction?
40:25I was really specific on the brief
40:26You were?
40:27You can't blame it on the fabric, this is your collection, it had to be cohesive, and you've got one standing in the middle, which is clearly not a part of the whole collection
40:36Just boil it down to also time, to stand back and look, yeah, you know when you look back?
40:42But everyone's got the same amount of time, and you were given a challenge in a certain time frame
40:47Do you look at your collection and can you tell me that you see it as cohesive?
40:51Shape-wise, not colour
40:53So you take full responsibility for this collection as the head designer?
40:56Oh completely, I have to, of course you do
40:58Thank you girls, you can leave the runway
41:00Lauren, let's bring out your models
41:16Sarah, why don't you kick things off?
41:18I mean I think you've got some interesting pieces within your collection
41:21With the dress, I think you've got some nice seeming points
41:24And I can see that carried through into the pant as well
41:28I certainly think they're probably one of the better pairs of pants we've seen today
41:32Definitely
41:33I think the colour palette's great, I really like what you've done there
41:37I love the different tones
41:39To me it looks like you had a vision to start with
41:42And that you have thought about what the new trends coming through are
41:46And you've tried to execute those
41:48It's just the execution of your jumpsuit
41:51Why is the cuff so chunky, so big?
41:53Well why is it so big? Yeah, big
41:55I think it would have just been so much cuter, shorter without that big cuff
41:58Yeah
41:59Much shorter
42:00Yeah, it would have been a really cute little outfit then
42:02Yes, yeah
42:03Thank you models, you can leave the runway
42:11We've heard what you've had to say
42:13We're now going to have a chat
42:15And then I'll call you back
42:23Let's start with the ones that we were impressed by
42:25I thought Lauren's came together, it gelled as a collection
42:28Yeah, I think her colour palette was great
42:30And I think she had some good shapes in there
42:32And I like the fact that there'd been a certain level of pattern making that had gone into her
42:36Yeah
42:37That we didn't see in a lot of the others
42:38She was thinking a bit out of the box
42:39She was trying some trickier things, albeit with a time restraint
42:42She didn't use that as an excuse
42:43No, she didn't
42:44She went for what she wanted
42:45And...
42:46She had a vision
42:47She did have a vision
42:48From a boy go, obviously
42:49Okay, let's talk about Anthony's
42:51I loved Anthony's
42:52I thought it was very clever
42:54It was a very bold move
42:55And it was so him
42:57It expressed so much of his own personality
42:59Almost risky
43:00Yeah, really risky
43:01Yeah
43:02He was very brave
43:03Yeah
43:04It could've been a complete train wreck
43:05Yeah
43:06But my gosh, he so pulled it off
43:07Yeah, he did
43:08You could see that he does have a vision
43:10He's got a very specific market that he's obviously designing for
43:13And I think he just pulled it together beautifully
43:15Mmm
43:16And how brave to put a male on that catwalk
43:19Where the instructions were they had to be women's outfits
43:22Mmm
43:23Clothing, yes
43:24I really liked the fact that he took that risk
43:25Because it could've really not worked for him, but it so did
43:28Well, again, that's very Anthony
43:32Now the ones that we weren't so impressed with
43:35The Varners was very flat
43:37Mmm
43:38Like it didn't jump out
43:39It looked deep
43:40If we saw that capsule in a store, I'd walk right past it
43:43Yeah
43:44There was nothing in there that grabbed me
43:46I just thought it was lazy
43:47It looked lazy
43:48There was no design into it
43:50There were two one-sleeved tops
43:52Yeah
43:53In a collection of three looks
43:54Yeah
43:55The dress with the bow seemed very done up for summer
43:58With the jacket over the top of it
44:00I agree with you, Christy
44:01It's not summer
44:02Mmm
44:03At best, it's trans-seasonal
44:04What about marks?
44:08Oh
44:09Whoa-ey
44:10Whoa
44:11I was so disappointed with marks
44:13That pant was unacceptable
44:15It was horrid
44:16Mmm
44:17It was just very unflattering
44:18It was
44:19It was
44:20It would really not appeal to anyone
44:21And that pink dress was so unflattering
44:24I mean that silhouette in a flowy fabric
44:26Beautiful
44:27Could have worked
44:28Could have worked well
44:29But that cotton broil on a dress like that is murder
44:32You just don't do it
44:33Pillow slip
44:34I don't understand where his head was
44:35Let's talk about Williams
44:38I was really surprised
44:40Mmm
44:41Lots of excuses
44:43It wasn't cohesive
44:44I don't think he had a clear vision
44:46No
44:47It astounds me that he claims to have briefed the fabric in
44:52And somehow he's ended up with the wrong colour palette
44:57And prints that he didn't use
44:59And I just don't understand how you can get it that wrong
45:01He has to take accountability
45:03And when the fabric's come back
45:04Design something with a vision that's still cohesive
45:07I was surprised because there was no vision
45:11So have we made our decision?
45:13I think it's pretty obvious this word
45:15Yeah
45:16I think it's very clear
45:17Okay, let's bring them back out
45:18Okay
45:27One of you will be named the winner
45:31And one of you will be out
45:37Lauren
45:38You're in
45:42You can leave the runway
45:44Thank you
45:51And now for the winner of this challenge
45:57Congratulations to
46:03Anthony
46:04You are the winner of this challenge
46:05Thank you
46:06You are the winner of this challenge
46:07Thank you
46:08Well done
46:09You can leave the runway
46:12Having won three challenges
46:13I definitely think my grandma and my parents would be super proud
46:17They've always believed in what I do
46:19Even though it's very different to what they would wear
46:26Congratulations
46:27Thank you
46:28I'm so glad it was safe
46:29Winning today has given me confidence in doing a real commercial range
46:32And hopefully I can continue to be on a winning streak
46:39William
46:43You're in
46:46You can leave the runway
46:54Ivana
46:57Mark
46:58One of you
46:59One of you will be out
47:04Ivana
47:06Your designs were lazy
47:08Bland
47:09And lacked creativity
47:11And it seems you didn't listen to the brief
47:14You were asked to design a summer collection
47:17But what you produced was more suited to a cooler climate
47:21And sure enough, it left us feeling cold
47:23Mark
47:26What you delivered was frumpy and unflattering
47:30And in no way fashionable
47:32Your designs clearly lacked vision and cohesion
47:34We were disappointed
47:36Mark
47:38You're out
47:39You're out
47:40That means Ivana, you're in. You can leave the runway
47:56You're in. You can leave the runway
48:08Come here you
48:10Goodbye
48:12Thank you
48:13Good luck
48:15Thanks for all your work with me
48:18It's been very exciting
48:19Thank you
48:20Thank you
48:22Thank you
48:24Oh
48:26Sending ovation for Mark
48:28It's been great
48:30Project Runway has been an amazing experience for me
48:35And I think I'll go from strength to strength
48:39Having come this far
48:41Through this amazing process
48:44Hello everybody
48:46How proud can we be of Mr Mark?
48:48You're amazing man
48:50You really are
48:52So, you're going to have to kiss him
48:54You're going to have to kiss him goodbye
48:56Go back to the workroom and pack your things up I'm afraid my friend
48:58Project Runway has proven to Australia that I'm more than just a pattern maker and a machinist
49:04I'm a fashion designer
49:05I'm a fashion designer
49:13Next time on Project Runway Australia
49:16You must create the show-stopping dress that will complete jeton's collection
49:21Oh shit
49:22It's going to be a massive challenge
49:24Going home is not an option for me right now
49:28You need a hug here city
49:29I just need a hot dress
49:31There's way too much at stake for me to lose the pot now
49:34I would just love a little bit more time
49:37I really want to get into the finals so I hope I can stay focused
49:41Only three of you will make it through to the final of Project Runway Australia
49:46That means one of you
49:51Will be out
