00:00Previously on Project Runway Australia, for your final challenge, you'll be given a budget
00:05of $10,000.
00:07I'm so excited.
00:09I will be going to visit each and every one of you.
00:12I'm very excited to see what you guys come up with.
00:15This is really aggressive.
00:18Some pieces that are dowdy.
00:20What's that?
00:21Cow hide.
00:22Oh my God.
00:23That just freaked me out.
00:26Create a phenomenal party box.
00:29Shit.
00:30Having to do a party frock has really spun me out.
00:33She's going to be a lolly.
00:34I think winning this final challenge would definitely pump me up for the finale.
00:48It's now and ever.
00:49It's either you're going to win or you're going to lose.
00:52The whole Project Runway is aimed at this day.
00:56Got goosebumps thinking about it.
00:59Hello everyone.
01:00And welcome to the finale of Project Runway Australia Season 2.
01:11The winner of Project Runway Australia will receive a serious small car, the all new Holden
01:16Cruise CDX, a six page fashion spread in Madison Magazine, and a $100,000 opportunity to design
01:25and show their own collection at the 2010 Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, courtesy of Rosemount.
01:31This is Project Runway Australia.
01:32Can't buy style.
01:33Break the rules.
01:34The search for Australia's next big fashion designer.
01:35I want to see the passion in your fashion.
01:36Just try to ignore me.
01:37Who will be in?
01:38Who will be out?
01:39I'm in.
01:40They're out.
01:41I don't think so.
01:42For these 12 designers, Project Runway is the chance of a lifetime.
01:54Three days till the finale and we have to design a phenomenal party dress for Rosemount.
02:11To create a party frock outside of our collection that has nothing to do with it is really spinning me out a bit.
02:18The prize is huge.
02:20If you win, you get your image on a label for Rosemount Wine.
02:26Good evening and welcome everybody.
02:29Welcome.
02:30I'm Simon Locke.
02:31Simon Locke is a key player in the Australian fashion industry so I really want to wow him now but also at the finale.
02:39It's great to have Rosemount support for Project Runway Australia.
02:43They're really a great partner with the Australian fashion industry as many of you would know.
02:48I had to stand by our models and then the judges came by.
02:51Hi, I'm Simon.
02:52Hi, how's it with you?
02:53It was really nerve-wracking to be judged by Fiona Lane, Kelly Smythe, Gail Elliott and Simon Locke.
02:59Ah!
03:00Well, well done darling, looks fantastic. Good luck.
03:02Thanks.
03:03The judges went away and discussed our designs.
03:07We just wanted a result. It took forever.
03:09So Anthony with his pink creation with the draping, what did you guys think of that?
03:13No, I don't think we've seen it before.
03:15Okay.
03:16But well executed.
03:17But it was, yeah.
03:18It's dramatic.
03:19Yeah.
03:20And I think it's a party frock.
03:24Cool.
03:25William?
03:26His little gold number.
03:27I think it wasn't quite right.
03:29Very difficult to wear.
03:30Yes.
03:31I mean, I don't think either of us.
03:32The fabric was quite fabulous.
03:33I mean, the way that it sort of crinkled up.
03:37And Lauren with her draped creation.
03:40The outside was there.
03:41The wearability was there.
03:42The dress was pretty there.
03:44I think that was the most wearable, I think, ever.
03:46I think I've ever had it.
03:50Are you all happy with that?
03:51Yeah.
03:52We have a winner.
03:58Thank you very much.
03:59We're down to the business end of this evening.
04:02It was really nerve-wracking to see who's going to win and maybe a little bit excited too.
04:07It wasn't easy, but we have made a decision.
04:12I was really hoping they'd say my name.
04:14It'd give me such a boost going into the finale.
04:17And the winner this evening...
04:21Please congratulate...
04:24Anthony.
04:30Oh, my God, me? What?
04:31Like, I was so surprised.
04:34Rosemount are going to be designing sleeves to cover their beautiful bottles.
04:39They're going to be distributed right round Australia.
04:41Tens of thousands of them.
04:43And three designers are going to be selected.
04:45Only three.
04:46And, my friend, you are one of them.
04:48It's well done, mate.
04:49Congratulations.
04:52Yay, I'm going to be on a bottle.
04:56It's really nice to win this last challenge,
04:58and hopefully it will continue through to the final.
05:03When he won, I thought, hmm, I think I'm a little bit jealous of that prize.
05:07It's kind of cool.
05:08It's a very unusual thing to win.
05:10So, I like it.
05:11It's quirky.
05:12It's very acne.
05:15The finale's getting closer and closer.
05:17Really, I should just go straight to bed and sleep,
05:20because it's going to be a long day tomorrow.
05:21But I'm going to have a few drinks to celebrate.
05:33It's a countdown to the finale.
05:36I'm so excited, but, oh, so nervous.
05:41I'm really happy that our challenge is over,
05:44and that it had nothing to do with our collection.
05:46My head space is on the collection,
05:48and I need to get back there.
05:51I am exhausted.
05:52I've got so much work to do,
05:54and if Henry gives me another challenge,
05:56I'm going to scream.
05:57I'm so excited about this today.
05:59Yeah, no, it's going to be great.
06:00Oh, my God.
06:01Oh, my God.
06:10Oh, my goodness.
06:14That's weird.
06:15It's like one of our last times.
06:16Walking into the workroom this morning,
06:18we were a bit nervous.
06:19We knew something was going to happen.
06:20Didn't know what.
06:22Hey, designers.
06:23Hi.
06:24Good morning.
06:25How are you all?
06:26Can I get you together for a moment?
06:27Yeah.
06:28Excellent.
06:29So, of course, as always,
06:31I have a little surprise up my sleeve.
06:35Are you ready to meet who I believe is
06:38the king of bashing in Australia?
06:44Oh, my God.
06:46Mr. Simon Locke.
06:48Come in, Simon.
06:50They're so nervous.
06:52The finale is around the corner,
06:53and he is going to be a guest judge,
06:56so to have him critique our collections
06:58is a massive thing.
07:00Like, we won't get this experience
07:01ever again in our lives.
07:03Great.
07:04Well, I'm really excited to have a look,
07:05and it's going to be great that one of you
07:06are going to get the chance
07:07to be launched internationally
07:08at Rosemount Australian Fashion League,
07:09so I'm very interested to see what you have.
07:12Oh, my goodness.
07:13He is, like, the biggest name in Australian fashion,
07:15so I'm really scared.
07:17I want to impress him.
07:19Hey, Anthony.
07:20Hey, Henry.
07:21Good to see you and Simon.
07:22Good to see you.
07:23Good to see you.
07:24Is this just a group of individual outfits
07:26that happen to be all black,
07:28or is there a story here?
07:30Yes.
07:31Is your design aesthetic coming through on each piece?
07:33There's definitely linking between the fabrications
07:36as well as detailing,
07:38which I really want to pull together.
07:40I mean, my inspiration was very much black roses.
07:43Show me what you mean by black rose.
07:45OK, so just this little vest here,
07:48which turns upside down as well.
07:52But then I've also done a skirt
07:53which is a bit more conceptual as a rose,
07:57but not so literal.
07:58Yeah, I can definitely see the similarity.
08:00I was really nervous about my final critique.
08:03I love my collection.
08:05It's exactly what I wanted,
08:06and I just hope they understand what I'm doing
08:09because I love it.
08:10I wouldn't at this stage be introducing any colour.
08:13No.
08:14Just stay focused.
08:15You know, in this last little bit,
08:16as you get ready for the finale,
08:18don't go,
08:19Oh my God, I've just had this idea
08:20and I'm going to whack it right in the middle.
08:22You know?
08:23No, I think, you know,
08:24I'd have to say there's nothing that's jarring here,
08:27nothing that's sticking out.
08:29Right.
08:30I think you're on the right track.
08:31You know?
08:32When Simon told me that,
08:33I totally, I totally respected his opinion.
08:36I mean, he knows what he's talking about,
08:38so thank you, Simon.
08:41First thing I'm going to ask you is
08:42just show me which best represents your handwriting
08:45as a designer.
08:46Um...
08:47This is Lauren's collection.
08:48This is Lauren.
08:49I'd say this is Lauren.
08:51Okay.
08:52Okay.
08:53So show me another piece
08:54that has the same handwriting as that.
08:56Okay.
08:57I would say stress.
08:59Okay.
09:00So just tell me why they're in the same collection.
09:03The draping and the lines.
09:05I really like to explore things in different ways
09:07and I really liked the sort of textures overlapping
09:11and getting like a density in some things
09:13and not in others,
09:14so I chose to explore that in both of those pieces.
09:16Great.
09:17Perfect.
09:18That's it.
09:19Okay.
09:20That's it.
09:21So that's just getting that same thought.
09:22Yes.
09:23Okay.
09:24So it's not about individual pieces now.
09:26Yeah.
09:27It's about putting that collection together.
09:28Simon was most critical about what is my signature
09:33because it is one collection and it needs to be cohesive.
09:36Cool.
09:37Okay.
09:38So we've seen those two pieces.
09:39Yes.
09:40What's next?
09:41Okay.
09:42This I've got a little strapless dress.
09:43Okay.
09:44So it's not made up yet.
09:45No.
09:46Okay.
09:47I've actually got a suede bodysuit
09:48with a little bustled skirt.
09:50Suede bodysuit?
09:51Yes.
09:52A little pair of shorts to go with the wire top.
09:55I've got an orange cow high dress.
10:00Warma Flintstone.
10:01Yeah.
10:05What are you concerned about?
10:07I'm exhausted.
10:12I didn't want to cry.
10:13I didn't want to cry.
10:21I've got an orange cow high dress.
10:25Warma Flintstone.
10:26Yeah.
10:33I'm exhausted.
10:38I didn't want to cry.
10:43And what are you concerned about?
10:44Well, I'm exhausted because I'm just seeing so many things.
10:47Right.
10:48You know, there's, you know, different shaped dresses.
10:52There's different shaped tops.
10:54I can see why you've got a different thought here.
10:57And I'm not saying this is not good.
10:59Okay.
11:00I'm not saying this is not good.
11:01But for me, it just jars within everything else.
11:04And so again, if I'm a buyer.
11:05Okay.
11:06And I want to buy Lauren.
11:07I want to buy as much of your collection as I can.
11:09Yeah.
11:10I want to buy for you for your signature.
11:11Yeah.
11:12Okay.
11:13Then that's sort of where I'm going to focus.
11:14Mm-hmm.
11:15And then, oh, Lauren's done something crazy and orange down the end.
11:17And some sort of weird fur.
11:18Oh, well, maybe, maybe we might get one of them.
11:20You know, we'll put it in the window or something like that.
11:22So I just think you've got to step back a little bit.
11:25Yep.
11:26Go to the things that you're really loving and you really like and you really feel passionate
11:31about and maybe develop those a bit more into the collection as distinct from the ones
11:36that you're not feeling so sure about.
11:38I do really care about my collection and what everyone thinks of it.
11:43And I just really want to make the most of this opportunity.
11:45So it's actually really stressful because I'm going to have to make major changes.
11:56So, William, lovely to see you.
11:57Hi.
11:58Excellent.
11:59Simon's here to look at your work.
12:00I'll see you again.
12:01How are you?
12:02So, William, remind us what your inspiration is for this collection and how that's reflected
12:04in the collection.
12:05It's all taken from my holiday to South America last year.
12:08You see these women with all these amazing colours that are all mixed.
12:11Mixed.
12:12So it doesn't matter what they're wearing, it looks amazing together.
12:14Okay.
12:15So when we look through this collection now, I should be able to see that inspiration through
12:19everything.
12:20Yeah.
12:21There's little elements in lots.
12:23It's quite subtle.
12:25I wasn't nervous about my final contigue until it was my turn.
12:30I guess I'll kind of start from the beginning.
12:32I ended up doing my own prints and it's just a flower that I ended up having.
12:36You're in print?
12:37Yeah.
12:38I did my own print.
12:39It's beautiful.
12:40Okay.
12:41He loved the prints and thought that was something that was really strong.
12:43And then these are pieces that are all worn together underneath.
12:46So it's kind of fitting.
12:47What kind of fabric is this?
12:48It's an amazing wool with like an organza over the top that's been shrunk up.
12:55I get where you're coming from and yes, they're all parts of that theme and that element.
13:00Okay.
13:01But I think you need to focus in a little bit more on each one.
13:04For me right now, the thing that I think is unique, inspirational and something I haven't
13:10seen before is the fabrication.
13:11You know, the design particularly here that you've created this own print and it's been
13:17inspired by the whole Peruvian, South American, that's a great story.
13:21And that's the story I think you need to weave all the way through.
13:26Okay.
13:27Because, you know, you can see how it goes here and here, that story's there.
13:29You can see how the story sort of translates into this.
13:32I think where your real strength lies, you know, in trying to get this great inspiration
13:40and thought through this last part of the collection is play to this.
13:43This is the strength here.
13:44I think the thing that Simon was most critical about with my collection was he wanted to see
13:48more perhaps of the same print continuing through.
13:52And then there was a story being told.
13:54So I just need to pull back a bit and reassess what I'm putting together.
13:59So take us on a journey.
14:01Take us on a story that ends with all the judges going,
14:04that's the place I want to be and I want to buy everything.
14:06Absolutely.
14:07But, you know, I think congratulations.
14:09I agree.
14:10You've got the essence of that thought.
14:12Just make sure it continues all the way through and stay focused.
14:14Fantastic Simon.
14:15Yeah.
14:16I need to be happy with what I'm putting down the runway.
14:19It's my opportunity.
14:20So I think if I truly believe in it, then they will too.
14:24This is a collection.
14:25You have just as much a chance to win this than anybody else.
14:29It's really strong, don't you think?
14:30I mean, anyone in here could be the winner.
14:32For me, William is still the man to beat.
14:34It always has been from the start.
14:35So I'm definitely watching what he's doing because I need to be a step above.
14:42Well, guys, good luck.
14:44I mean, you know, if each of you just play to your strengths, okay, I think you're all
14:49going to do really well.
14:50And remember, it's not about really what I think.
14:53You've just got to stay true to your heart.
14:55You know, Lauren, perhaps I was a little bit tough on you.
14:57No, it's okay.
14:58But it's only because I see some fantastic things in you, darling.
15:01So, you know, just take what I said and just see whether you can play to your strengths.
15:05I will.
15:06And guys, good luck over the next short few hours you've got to get ready.
15:10Be dead.
15:11I'll get to be busy.
15:14Here we go.
15:15Wow.
15:16It's time to cast the models for our finale runway.
15:19This should be fun.
15:20Yeah, it's going to be good fun.
15:21Model selection's really important.
15:23If you don't have models which epitomise what your collection's about, then it's strata.
15:27If they don't have the elegance and the look what you're going for, it can make or break a collection.
15:33Can I ask a question?
15:35Would you be happy to wear this as a top?
15:38Um, lovey-loving?
15:40Yes, lovey.
15:41Um...
15:43That'll be a no.
15:44Yes or no.
15:45Okay, that's fine.
15:47I've never done a model casting before.
15:49Never done my own show before.
15:51So, it was really exciting.
15:52Yeah, look at it.
15:53Oh, perfect.
15:54Great.
15:55Love.
15:56The model casting was so good.
15:59I actually got nine girls I really liked.
16:02So, I'm really happy.
16:04Ha!
16:05I love it.
16:19I woke up this morning and I'm really excited to get to fit all the models today and see what our clothes look like.
16:25I can't wait to see my vision.
16:26How do you decide?
16:27Because normally, I think you would have the model.
16:30At the moment, I'm feeling a bit stressed because the finale is a day away.
16:36Since Simon Locke's critique, I decided to get rid of the orange.
16:39It's out.
16:40It's gone.
16:41It's yesterday.
16:42I can't wait to see the models in our clothes.
16:43I've been sewing like a crazy person and I've still got a lot of sewing to go.
16:49It's the last day in the workroom today and it's starting to hit me that it's now or never.
16:58It's either you're going to win or you're going to lose.
17:00The models come in one by one and it was pretty stressful.
17:07I could sense the stress levels rising.
17:10I'll make it super, super tired because it will give a bit.
17:13It's our last chance to finish sewing, our model fitting and prepare our accessories and makeup.
17:19Hello, William.
17:20It's looking good.
17:22Thankfully, Chechil, who's the international Max Factor makeup artist, was on hand to give
17:26us some really useful last minute advice.
17:29This will look really matte too.
17:31And then this one is creamy-ish.
17:34Yeah, they're quite stunning.
17:35I was thinking of lining the lips with the black.
17:39If you don't have the right makeup, there's no point in setting it down the runway.
17:44What do you think?
17:45That looks great.
17:47Maybe less shoulders, it's a bit more, like, real straight.
17:52I'm so excited.
17:55I'm feeling better about my collection now.
17:57I've made quite a few changes to it and I think it's going to look more cohesive.
18:01How's the fabric feel?
18:02Sounds beautiful.
18:04Beautiful.
18:05I'm the only designer using male models.
18:07So what's this for?
18:08Ah, it's just an accessory.
18:09It's a bit of playful fun on the runway.
18:11So I've worked with them before, so it's going to be exciting and I know they're going
18:16to work it.
18:17So you keep your stubble on your face and you keep your hair on your chest.
18:25Alright designers, let us gather for this being the very, very final brief from me before
18:31you actually reach the runway tomorrow.
18:33And my number one piece of advice to you is just keep it calm, keep cool, expect the unexpected,
18:40enjoy the energy, run with it and float with it.
18:44So I wish you all my very best.
18:46It's been a great time for all of us.
18:49The ultimate moment and now like anybody that sets the butterfly free, I have to let you
18:55guys go and now it's absolutely up to you.
18:59Yeah, thank you.
19:00Good luck.
19:01It's been fantastic.
19:02Good luck.
19:03Look after yourselves.
19:04Thank you very much.
19:05Fantastic.
19:06Bye.
19:07See you when we're on the runway.
19:08Absolutely.
19:09This is the best.
19:11Do you feel good?
19:12It's over.
19:13I feel tired but right.
19:15When I finally packed up my collection, it's an amazing feeling because I don't feel like
19:19I've left anything out or missed anything.
19:23Just truly done something that I believe in and I love.
19:27So we'll just have to see what everybody else thinks tomorrow.
19:34I have quite a few alterations to make before my collection goes on the runway.
19:38Hopefully, I finish it all in time.
19:44Leaving the workroom for the last time was incredible.
19:48It was kind of sad to leave but it's like, wow, the finale is really here.
19:52Yay!
19:53I love it.
19:54It looks good.
19:55Alright.
19:56Next, on Project Runway Australia.
19:57We'll try it one more time.
19:58It's not going so well.
19:59I'm really nervous.
20:00I've left five pieces of my jewellery in Sydney.
20:16And ahead.
20:17Do you think you were all supportive of each other?
20:19No.
20:20I mean, I just did it because it was fun.
20:22Are you effing bosses?
20:23I was a little poor.
20:24It's runway day today.
20:37We were all getting very excited.
20:42I want to win Project Runway because I really want the opportunity to show at Rosemount Australian
20:48Fashion Week.
20:49I can't wait to get the show on the road.
20:52Oh my gosh, we're finally here.
20:53Oh my gosh.
20:54I know.
20:55I can't wait.
20:56It's the red carpet.
20:57Oh my god, I'm so excited.
20:59I'm so excited.
21:00Wow.
21:01It's amazing.
21:02How could our clothes come from this?
21:03It's so wide.
21:04It's beautiful.
21:05Okay, now it's real.
21:06Now it's gonna happen.
21:07Yeah.
21:08Yeah, it's silly.
21:09Today is really, really important because it's the opportunity of a lifetime.
21:12The whole Project Runway is aimed at this day.
21:13The whole Project Runway is aimed at this day.
21:14Wow, this is amazing.
21:15Oh my goodness.
21:16Oh my goodness.
21:17Oh my goodness.
21:18Oh my goodness.
21:19Oh my goodness.
21:20I'm so excited.
21:21Oh my goodness.
21:22Oh my goodness.
21:23Oh my goodness.
21:24I'm so excited.
21:25Wow, it's amazing.
21:26How could our clothes come from this?
21:27Massive.
21:28And it's so wide.
21:29It's beautiful.
21:30Okay, now it's real.
21:31Yeah, it's silly.
21:32Yeah, it's silly today is really really important because it's the opportunity of a lifetime
21:38So help project runways aimed at this day. Wow
21:44Walking up and down the runway
21:46Felt real. I'm like what this is for us
21:56I have worked my ass off for the last 10 weeks
21:58So I really want to impress the judges, but not just the judges the whole Australian fashion industry
22:18Getting backstage we unpacked our collections and I got down to finishing off some last-minute things
22:24Hello
22:26It was full of models everywhere
22:30You know we had helpers to dress and things so we're all pressing getting our garments together putting them in order getting the accessories
22:36It's exciting
22:38Don't seem any more necklaces around
22:41No, I think I'm missing five
22:45I've left five pieces of my jewelry in Sydney
22:50I
22:52Yeah, I have five five looks though
22:54The pieces that I left behind were so crucial
23:00And I don't know how I'm gonna get them
23:04I run outside and I called my friend
23:07Olivier
23:08Big big big big fuck up. I've left my jewelry. He's my only chance to bring it. Yes, I'm a little bit freaked out
23:15You've got my jewelry. Oh my god. He's got my jewelry
23:23And he's jumping on a plane from Sydney to Mel
23:25Okay, love you too. Bye. I really hope he makes it in time for the finale. If not, I'm screwed
23:31There's some big names in Australian fashion coming tonight. I want to show them what I've got
23:44The look I want is just lots of volume at the end so almost like she's been out all night
23:49So you can just have a lot of fun in a Russian in Monaco. Yeah, Russian in Monaco
23:53No, let's see it
23:57Black hairspray. Will that work?
23:59On a bun?
24:00Yeah, because she's got the headpiece. I kind of want it all black
24:02Sure
24:03Okay, I'll bring it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, bring it over
24:07I started on Deetia, so I wanted you to check if so far everything is going on
24:12It's looking great. Oh, this is gorgeous
24:14All of Lauren's girls, super shiny
24:17So that's okay with you? Yep, sounds great
24:19All right, perfect. Thank you
24:21I think we need Will. Where's Will? Do anyone know where Will is? Do you know where Will is?
24:32Do you know where Will is? Do you know where Will is?
24:34Does anyone know where Will is?
24:39I just really needed some time to myself. My father just passed away
24:45My dad's definitely here, so I think that's why I get emotional. I just feel how proud he is, which is good
25:03I've been pushing everything down to this point. I think we're getting close to the end where I can just let go and
25:08I can feel him around so that's it's a good feeling
25:20I'm just gonna let's have a practice with you. I have a model called Cassie and she's got to turn a bolero upside down
25:25so I was getting her to practice it
25:31We'll try one more time
25:32and it's not going so well
25:34Should I try taking it off before I stop?
25:36What's up to you? Yeah, either way
25:38Maybe, like, if I stuff up, I've got more time to fix myself
25:42If Cassie stops up the turning of the bolero upside down
25:47On the runway, it'll look stupid, so I needed her to do it perfectly
25:55See, that's a lot easier
25:56See, I don't mind if you look
25:57Just look, it's fine
26:04Okay, let's go
26:05And
26:06Can you hold this for me for a second?
26:08The worst thing that can happen is if someone trips and falls, that would be
26:12Yeah, not very good
26:14I'm really nervous
26:15My mum, my dad and my friends are all going to be sitting in the audience watching with anticipation to see what I've done
26:22Laura, are you ready?
26:23I want to prove to the judges that I'm a good designer
26:27I've grown through my Project Runway experience and I'm ready to take on Australian fashion
26:33I went running out because I thought, where is he? And I saw Ollie and he had the bag of jewellery
26:38He's just a godsend
26:39Oh, you got my shoes and the jewellery?
26:40Yeah, yeah, yeah
26:41Every piece
26:41Oh my god, you're the best
26:42Okay
26:42If I didn't have that jewellery, oh, I would have been in real trouble
26:47Thank god
26:48It came, I can't believe I forgot it and I was that stupid
26:51I can actually actualise my collection now
26:53Oh my god, it's showtime
26:55Good luck
26:56Good luck
26:56I'll try not to hit you with my thing
26:58Hey, good luck guys
26:59You're all done amazing
27:01Yeah
27:02I know
27:02I just
27:02Congratulations
27:03You're all done amazing
27:03Well, yeah
27:04Nice
27:05Look at you in your middle
27:06Oh my god
27:10Okay, ready to roll
27:12Seeing the models in my designs backstage, I really love what I've done
27:16Whether the judges love or hate it, I'm really proud
27:19But I really hope everyone walks away from the show understanding what I do
27:29I can't believe that I'm here, I made it to the top three
27:34I'm really proud of myself
27:37It would be a dream to win Project Runway
27:39Everybody's going to see what I've been working on for the last 10 weeks
27:46People will either love you or hate you
27:48But I love what I've done
27:50Got goosebumps thinking about it
27:59Hello everyone
28:03Welcome to the finale of Project Runway Australia Season 2
28:09Before we get started tonight, I'd like to introduce you all to our judges
28:25The wonderful Sarah Gale
28:31And of course our incredible Jason Brunston
28:34And our very special guest judges for tonight
28:40Editor of Madison Magazine, Paula Joy
28:47And Simon Locke, Managing Director of IMG Fashion
28:50And Founder also of Rosemount Australian Fashion Week
28:55Let the show begin
29:04Wow, hi
29:11Welcome everyone, thanks for coming
29:13I'd like to say a big thank you to my amazing family and friends for supporting me through this
29:17And really, just enjoy the show
29:20Thank you
29:34We're watching your very first collection go down the runway
29:45It's just so surreal
29:47I'm really proud of myself
29:49I've pulled it together to get a gorgeous collection done
29:52To be here in this position getting this opportunity is fantastic
31:28Looking out on stage at the end of the runway, it was just such a great feeling.
31:38Everyone was clapping and they loved my collection.
31:41It couldn't have gone any better.
31:58Good evening, everybody.
32:05Thank you for coming tonight and supporting all of us.
32:08I don't really want to explain too much about the collection.
32:11It's beautiful girls and beautiful clothes and just have fun with it because that's what it's about.
32:17I've had the happiest time doing this collection and I've dedicated it to my dad because he just passed away a couple of weeks ago.
32:23So this is for him.
32:34The feeling of seeing my collection go down the runway.
33:02It's a really nice feeling.
33:04It's just amazing to think that so many people get to share this experience with me.
33:09It made all the toil in the last 10 weeks worth it.
33:15It's a really nice feeling.
33:29It made all the loin out.
35:02Make everybody just feel what I felt, and they did, you could tell.
35:05Hey, everyone.
35:21I just want to thank you all so much for coming.
35:25It's going to be hopefully a great show.
35:28I really want to thank my friends and family because they've been an amazing spot.
35:42Watching my models on the runway was just breathtaking, it was stunning, it was really,
36:10really good. I was so happy. They look amazing, and I'm so proud.
36:40I'm so proud of you.
37:10I'm so proud of you.
37:40I'm so proud of you.
37:47I'm so proud of you.
37:52I'm so proud of you.
37:55I'm so proud of you.
37:56I'm so proud of you.
37:57I'm so proud of you.
37:58I looked into the crowd, I saw my family, they were smiling and they were really happy.
38:05I had no idea what the judges thought. There was a lot of details, so I'm hoping they're
38:12looking at it.
38:14I'm so proud of you.
38:15I'm so proud of you.
38:16I'm so proud of you.
38:17I'm so proud of you.
38:18I'm so proud of you.
38:19I'm so proud of you.
38:20I'm so proud of you.
38:21I'm so proud of you.
38:22I'm so proud of you.
38:23I'm so proud.
38:24I'm so proud of you.
38:25It was lovely to see it all come to life.
38:27I thought there were elements of every designer that I really loved.
38:31I just can't believe what we've just seen tonight.
38:33Spectacular.
38:34Absolutely fabulous.
38:35Look, I think Nana was a bit upset with some of the hemlines.
38:39In my day, a girl would get arrested for wearing something like that.
38:44The standard was so high up there.
38:47It's going to be a tough decision for the judges.
38:51Next on Project Runway Australia, Lauren, William, Anthony.
38:57Only one of you can be the winner of Project Runway Australia.
39:03And a head.
39:04Michael, have you got a hair sponsor?
39:06That's not for you.
39:07That's only for professionals.
39:13Wow, guys.
39:14What an incredible show.
39:15What did we all think?
39:16I had shivers at one stage run through my spine and they sort of...
39:20It was just...
39:21I did too.
39:22I had goosebumps at one stage and I thought, wow, this is really exceptional.
39:25I thought it was really fantastic.
39:26I just want to know how many people in the audience actually got the relevance of the watering
39:31can on Anthony's head and did they realise it was all about watering the roses in his collection?
39:36And the roses blooming and...
39:38Did that come through?
39:39And getting bigger, yeah.
39:40And William.
39:41Yeah, that was...
39:42He's been through quite a lot, hasn't he?
39:44That was really moving, you know, to have done that under such adverse circumstances, you know.
39:50It's very special.
39:51It was.
39:52So why don't we bring them back out?
39:54Yeah, that's what it looks like.
39:55Perfect.
39:56Yeah.
40:07Welcome back to The Runway Designers.
40:10You guys did a phenomenal job.
40:12We were absolutely blown away.
40:14Congratulations.
40:15But, as you know, there can only be one winner.
40:20That winner will receive....
40:22A serious small car, the all-new Holden Cruz CDX.
40:28A six-page fashion spread in Madison Magazine.
40:33And a hundred thousand dollar opportunity to design and show their own collection...
40:39at the 2010 Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, courtesy of Rosemount.
40:48It's now time to bring out your models.
41:02Models, one of you also will be a winner today.
41:05The model, paired with the winning designer, will receive a six-page fashion spread in
41:12Madison Magazine.
41:15Lauren, tell me a little bit about your collection.
41:18With my collection, I really was inspired by light and shade and light refraction through
41:23blind, so I chose to explore it in a very feminine way, with a slight twist.
41:28What did you think of Lauren's collection, Jason?
41:31I thought it was really well-conceived and very beautiful.
41:36I liked your play on texture.
41:37I understood where you're coming from from that, and I think your draping was really
41:42well executed.
41:43I agree.
41:44The texture and the dimension, it's like you've used floaty fabrics, then you've also used
41:48very stiff fabrics, but you've sort of drawn it in so we get this whole movement down the
41:54runway, but in really different ways.
41:56I thought the cut on your leather pants was amazing.
42:01The back on them, they were so flattering.
42:04They were really made beautifully.
42:06You've really done a great job.
42:08I mean, we spoke about your collection and how it needed to be focused and played to your
42:13strength, and you did that, and you did it really well.
42:16And congratulations for losing the Wilma Flintstone dress that we saw last week, because that
42:24would have just ruined everything.
42:27I'm really pleased with the result.
42:29I think this outfit is really reflective of the whole collection.
42:32Well done.
42:33Well done.
42:34It was a journey, I thought, too.
42:36You know, it kept your interest.
42:37It kept your interest peaked throughout the whole thing.
42:39It was one after the other after the other.
42:40The other thing I would say is sometimes it bordered on being too conceptual.
42:46It took me away from fashion sometimes, and it got a little too conceptual.
42:50But I don't know if that's a bad thing or not.
42:53Okay, let's move on to William.
42:56Tell me about your collection.
42:58My collection, I based it on just the feelings that I had from my holiday in South America,
43:02the colours and just that vibrancy.
43:04There's just so much contradiction there, so I wanted to do really soft, volumous shapes,
43:08but with the hard, shouldered edges, but doing it in a way that created a silhouette.
43:14I liked that the whole thing was a personal journey for you, and it was inspired by your
43:18own travels and your own experiences.
43:19I think that's always a great starting point.
43:21I loved your use of colour amongst all of the black as well.
43:26It just, it really stood out.
43:27And I felt that some of your pieces, I could tell you were looking at it with a commercial
43:32eye, as well as, how can I stun this crowd?
43:35And we had some stunners in there.
43:37I'm dying to see the top of that dress.
43:40Is there any chance?
43:40Ah, that's what everybody said, and I loved that, because I said, you're intrigued.
43:44Everyone said we wanted to see the top.
43:45I'm dying to see, oh my goodness.
43:47It's gorgeous.
43:48It's beautiful.
43:50Wow.
43:51That's how it should have gone out on the line.
43:52Wow.
43:53That looks great.
43:54It is stunning.
43:55Yeah.
43:56You are a master of construction, and it's just so nice to see the absolute execution of what
44:02you do.
44:03William, I got so excited when I saw your collection.
44:05I love the colour, the vibrancy.
44:07I could really see that it was you, and I just think that you put out an incredible
44:11collection that was so well executed.
44:15Anthony, tell us about your collection.
44:19My collection, I really wanted to create something that is my style, true to my own sense of
44:25aesthetic, and I was really inspired by black roses.
44:29It's sort of my, how I like to dress, lots of black, lots of different textures, lots of
44:33layers.
44:34And yes, I wanted drama, but I wanted pieces which you can wear back with jeans, and very,
44:39very sexy as well.
44:40What I loved about it is it was really dramatic, it was very, very Anthony, yet each of those
44:47pieces you could actually pull into the commercial world as well.
44:51It had both elements of a great collection for me, theatrics and the clothes.
44:56I mean, the theatrics was, you know, John Galliano meets Michelle, Jank meets Bill and
45:00Ben Flowerpot men, you know, the theatrics was great.
45:04But on the other hand, you've got these standout pieces.
45:09The dress that you had on the male model, now that was quite a simple silhouette, yet
45:16you gave it some drama by putting it on a man as well, and I really liked that.
45:21You took us on such a journey, and it was so beautifully styled and beautifully done.
45:26I thought it was really exceptional.
45:30Well guys, I have to congratulate you all.
45:32Absolutely.
45:33On a job extremely well done.
45:36Beautiful.
45:36You've made our job incredibly, incredibly hard.
45:39Good.
45:41You succeeded.
45:43Yeah.
45:43Sure had.
45:45So now that we've talked to all of you, we're going to have a little chat.
45:49Well, okay.
45:50And then we'll bring you back.
45:52And when we bring you back, we will announce who will be the winner of Project Runway Australia
45:58Season 2.
46:01You can leave the runway.
46:03Well, let's start with Lauren's collection.
46:17What do you think?
46:17I thought Lauren's was really exciting.
46:20We saw this girl evolve from the very start.
46:23Remember, she almost left on the first episode.
46:25The Diana Ross.
46:26Oh, that's right.
46:28She did too.
46:30How much has she grown?
46:31Yeah, she has.
46:32It's not a long way.
46:33She really stepped up to the plate when she needed to.
46:36You know, I was so pleased and proud of her to take on some good advice and work it back
46:41and focus on her strengths and then just expand it and blow us all the way.
46:45I thought it was great.
46:46I thought it had a really, quite a hard edge to it.
46:49It had a strength.
46:50Which I loved.
46:50Yeah.
46:51It had a real strength.
46:51I really like that.
46:52I think it's just showing her as a designer.
46:54She's going from strength to strength.
46:56Okay, well, let's talk about William's collection.
47:01Beautifully crafted.
47:02Beautifully put together.
47:03I love the colour as well.
47:04It's always refreshing to see colour on a runway.
47:07It is.
47:08Particularly surrounded by so much black.
47:09Yeah.
47:10And I loved that print.
47:11That print was to die for.
47:13And it sort of really binded the whole collection as well.
47:17Not only was the print, you know, beautiful and colourful, it was unique.
47:21I mean, that's what we want to see in fashion.
47:22It's something we haven't seen before.
47:24A new print, a new design.
47:25And he created that himself.
47:27And I think when designers can get involved in the fabric as well as the silhouettes,
47:31that's when, you know, they're really showing their creativity.
47:34He had the most commercial runway execution.
47:38And he thought about his customer in what he put down the runway.
47:42And the way that it fitted the models.
47:44In the fact that there was just stuff that girls would want to wear.
47:47So he had really gone to the end point, which is cash registers ringing.
47:52Yeah, I think what we saw there was a real ready-to-wear show.
47:55You could imagine a buyer going in and saying, I'll buy that, I'll buy that.
47:58And it goes straight into production, into the stores.
48:03Last but not least, Anthony's.
48:05But what I loved most about Anthony's was that it was dramatic.
48:09Every single piece could be used in a commercial world as well.
48:14It was a very well-thought-out collection.
48:16It evolved.
48:17It really told his story.
48:18It was so beautifully done.
48:19It was authentic.
48:20Totally.
48:21There's nothing try-hard about him.
48:24He is that.
48:25And when you know yourself, then, you know, whatever you put out there is an authentic,
48:30true extension.
48:31And that's why it works.
48:32Could have gone very wrong for him.
48:33It could have become too theatrical and too conceptual.
48:37But I think he did it with great style.
48:40And the only thing he might struggle with is now production.
48:44You know?
48:45Absolutely.
48:45Here it is on the catwalk and they're one-offs and it's great.
48:48Someone's going to come along and go, great, I want 20 of those.
48:51And he needs to make sure that that collection is scalable.
48:54Some of those pieces are a production manager's nightmare.
48:58I'd love to see that.
48:59It's fabulous.
49:00Five fabrics in one jacket.
49:01The production manager would be going nuts.
