00:00Previously on Project Runway Canada, your next challenge is to create a gown inspired
00:08by the word hope.
00:10The Glitterati will be invited to bid on your designs.
00:13Do we get paid by these rich women to make it?
00:16It's going to charity.
00:17Vidal is very young.
00:18He's very rebellious.
00:19You're so full of anger.
00:21Vidal, you won this challenge hands down.
00:29Megan, I'm sorry, but you just don't live it up.
00:33Thank you for the opportunity.
00:38The winner of Project Runway Canada will receive a cover and a feature spread in El Canada magazine,
00:44a professional portfolio photo shoot courtesy of L'Oreal Paris, a retail mentorship with winners,
00:50and $100,000 to start their own fashion line.
00:56Welcome to Project Runway Canada, the search for the hottest new fashion designer.
01:09Twelve designers will compete.
01:11Three will make it to L'Oreal Fashion Week.
01:13Great.
01:26But only one will rule the runway and win everything they need to start their own fashion line.
01:32Tempers will flare.
01:38Hemlines will fly.
01:46And remember, fashion isn't always pretty.
01:50Hello, designers.
02:03Hello.
02:04Are you ready for your next challenge?
02:07Let's bring inspiration into the room.
02:10Come on in, models.
02:12Oh, my God.
02:22And I designed them all.
02:24No, no.
02:27Wow.
02:29Designers.
02:30As you can see here on the runway,
02:32we have seven iconic fashion moments.
02:37There's all the different periods of fashion.
02:40Aggression, there's a hippie,
02:42there's an 80s outfit.
02:45It was like being in a Kafka novel
02:47where everything is abstract
02:50and doesn't make sense.
02:53Today, when you choose your models,
02:55you will also choose a look
02:58that must inspire your next design.
03:03Now, remember, whatever model is not selected,
03:07unfortunately, will be out of the competition.
03:10So, how will you decide?
03:12Will you select your favorite model
03:15or your favorite fashion moment?
03:22Bedell, you were the winning designer from last challenge.
03:26You have immunity in this challenge.
03:28And you may choose your model first.
03:34Well, I would love to work with the punk chick,
03:39but I am definitely sticking with Ashley.
03:42Ashley, congratulations.
03:45You can leave the runway.
03:46The next designer is...
03:50Charnet.
03:52Who would you like to work with?
03:55I'll stick with Jacqueline.
03:56Congratulations.
03:57Lucien.
03:58What is that?
03:59What is that?
04:00What is that?
04:02I mean, she's absolutely gorgeous.
04:03I don't know if I can make her beautiful
04:04with that kind of stuff.
04:05My beautiful Chanel was dressed in a gypsy,
04:06and I am not fond of gypsies.
04:07I'll go with Chanel.
04:08You may leave the runway.
04:09Kendra.
04:10I really, really, really loved working with Jessica.
04:13I think though I will work with Trey.
04:16Oh, I love the girl.
04:18Could I put her back in the back?
04:18I think the girl's back in the back?
04:20Well, it's time for you.
04:22I mean, she's absolutely gorgeous.
04:24I don't know if I can make her beautiful
04:25with that kind of stuff.
04:26My beautiful Chanel was dressed in a gypsy,
04:28and I am not fond of gypsies.
04:31I'll go with Chanel.
04:33You may leave the runway.
04:34Kendra.
04:35I really, really, really loved working with Jessica.
04:38Oh, Drea, congratulations.
04:42Marie Genevieve.
04:44I'll go with Amanda.
04:46I like your look and I love the UK.
04:55Stephen, you're last.
04:58We have Renee and Jessica.
05:05Which model do you pick?
05:08I think Jessica is amazing.
05:14I'm so sorry, but Renee is just totally the one for me.
05:21I'm so sorry.
05:23Renee, congratulations.
05:33The fashion woman you've selected must direct your next design.
05:38Swimwear.
05:40What?
05:42Either you know how to do swimwear or you don't.
05:44And if you don't, you're up a creek, basically.
05:48I know how to do swimwear, though.
05:50Brian will give you more details.
05:52I will see you back on the runway.
05:54And I do expect you to make a splash.
05:56Ciao.
05:57Bye-bye.
05:58Bye-bye.
06:00Bye-bye.
06:02Bye-bye.
06:05Bye-bye.
06:14Good morning, everybody.
06:15Good morning.
06:16Good morning.
06:17I suggest you listen really closely right now because I'm turning up the heat.
06:20You're making two swimsuits, one for your model and one for your new model.
06:32Yay.
06:34Good morning, ladies.
06:35Good morning.
06:36We're all expecting our normal models and he brings in plus size models.
06:42I don't think any of us gasped out loud, but we all gasped inside.
06:46Let's start drawing.
06:47Who goes to who?
06:48Jennifer?
06:49Kendra?
06:52She's very beautiful, but it's going to be hard to draft a swimsuit when we don't usually
06:58draft in those sizes.
06:59Lucien.
07:00Lucien?
07:01Hello.
07:02How are you?
07:03MG.
07:04You're going to have fun, Shirley.
07:05Hello.
07:06How are you doing?
07:07How are you?
07:08Good.
07:09Nice to meet you.
07:10Yeah, I like it.
07:13Good to see you measuring your models.
07:16Fit is important.
07:18Under vest is.
07:23With plus size, you really have to know the body and know a woman and what she wants to
07:31show and what she wants to hide.
07:34I've made swimwear for people before.
07:37I won the last challenge, serve immunity.
07:39I like to use this detail of the gyps, you know how they use on the shirts.
07:44Have you ever done like a plus size bathing suit before?
07:48Never.
07:49Well, I'm not used to work with that type of body.
07:52You know, you just need to take a lot of measurements and make sure everything's going
07:57to fit and cross your finger, I guess.
07:59Okay, designers, you have one hour and fifteen minutes and seventy-five dollars to spend.
08:16I suggest you start now.
08:18Micro section, straight down the hall.
08:22Oh, wow.
08:23Stretch.
08:24These are stretch.
08:25And then fishnets are here.
08:26My regular model, Amanda, I'm going to make a bikini for her.
08:31It's British punk, so I'm using, you know, the flag of the UK.
08:36And for the plus size, I'm doing something really much more like simple, like a one-piece bathing suit.
08:42It's kind of scary to do a bathing suit when, you know, you're not used to it.
08:46Uh-oh, uh-oh.
08:47Oh!
08:48Oh!
08:49Oh!
08:50Oh!
08:51Oh!
08:52Look, everyone's now worried and stressed.
08:54Freaking out, basically.
08:57I'm not too worried about it because I'll just be like sleeping, I promise, this time.
09:06I really wanted to work with Dre again.
09:09And she happened to be wearing Marie Antoinette.
09:11How are you supposed to create something like that and not have it look costumey?
09:16I don't think in 2007 people walked around wearing Edwardian bathing suits.
09:20I hate this.
09:22I know, so do I.
09:23It just dies on the runway.
09:24Get rid of it now.
09:26I'm going with this then.
09:27Thank God.
09:28I need to get trim, so goodbye.
09:29This is, all right.
09:31It's a pleasure.
09:31I only need you for a second.
09:33I'm coming downstairs with you for trim.
09:34Mm!
09:46I like this one.
09:48There's some cool gypsy stuff over there.
09:52Where?
09:53The paisleys.
09:55I don't know if you saw it.
10:00Certain people have a lot of attitude.
10:02It's not gypsy.
10:05That's paisley.
10:06It's Indian.
10:08It was a bit accentuated by yesterday's results.
10:12Bedell, you won this challenge.
10:14Hands down.
10:16Mm-hmm.
10:16You've never seen a gypsy?
10:18I can't say that I have.
10:20I mean, yeah, it's great to win.
10:22It's awesome.
10:23I've done it previously, but it's not like I'm the s**t.
10:30Buddy Nuts.
10:31Jesus, princess, precious, whatever you want to call him.
10:35Buddy Nuts is so pissed about whatever.
10:37And, like, I have immunity, and I'm happy about that.
10:40I don't need Lucien.
10:41He'd be happy for me.
10:43I'm excited.
10:44This is going to be a good, hard challenge for a lot of these people.
10:48Not me.
10:49I've made bathing suits for bigger ladies.
10:52He thinks it's the Bedell show.
10:54He does.
10:54He lives in that, acting like you've already won it.
10:57And so what are the rest of us doing here?
11:00This is what you call mission impossible.
11:25Yeah.
11:26My era of clothing is 1920s, and we have to do two bathing suits for my regular model and
11:33my new plus-size model.
11:35I'm probably thinking by 10 o'clock I'll only finish one.
11:38For me, it's all about the tops, I think.
11:41I have to get the corsets out, you know?
11:43The game is on.
11:45People are watching their backs.
11:46People are being sneaky.
11:48Some people are being catty.
11:50And some people are just going crazy.
11:52That's my bathing suit.
11:54Designers are artists.
11:56We're creative people.
11:57We're very emotional.
11:58So it's an emotional rollercoaster that we're on.
12:02Okay, so should I stand with mine or the other one?
12:08Now we're just six, and it's like more of a competition, and people are taking it way
12:12too seriously.
12:15Maybe they should chill out a little bit, you know?
12:18Look at that.
12:18Can you imagine if you had those?
12:25Trinette, look.
12:25What?
12:27Look at that, look.
12:28Way to go, M.G.
12:30Oh, my God.
12:31Oh, my God.
12:31They could probably fit on your head as a cap, I swear.
12:34It's so big.
12:37It fits perfect.
12:38Oh, my God.
12:40I should not play with her boots.
12:42Stop playing with her boots.
12:44Trinette looks great in that.
12:45Doesn't she?
12:46She's such a little princess.
12:49This challenge I took, Marie Antoinette, I chose an animal print because I was creating
12:55a suit that could be modern day but inspired by Marie Antoinette with the detailing, the
12:59pleats, and the ruffles.
13:01You have been done cross-sides before?
13:03Not swimsuits, no.
13:04Neither have I.
13:08I have immunity, so I'm probably going to go have a nap and probably sow a little bit
13:15more, probably have some food, and have another nap.
13:20What's up?
13:21Tired.
13:22Vidal seems to be getting a bit of a big head lately.
13:25He's trying to intimidate people all the time by saying how amazing he is, and it's just
13:32not cool.
13:34I don't like people like that.
13:38Oi.
13:42How are you doing with the work?
13:43I need to bang out two corsets fully boned and lined.
13:47By midnight.
13:48Girl.
13:48I feel sorry for you.
13:53I do what I do because I love it.
13:56I've done it since I was 13 years old.
13:59I've reached different levels of my career, highs and lows.
14:03I've had a boutique in downtown Toronto, and I closed that a couple years ago.
14:08I feel like fashion has chosen me.
14:10It's not something I decided to do.
14:12It's who I am, and I want to do it for the rest of my life.
14:16It's going to have to fit like crazy.
14:20I'm a little bit worried.
14:21I'm not used to actually work with stretch material.
14:24If I want to sew that seam with another fabric.
14:26You can do it by machine.
14:28Make sure you stretch it.
14:29Yeah.
14:30Pull it.
14:31And small stitches.
14:32Like, just hold it like that.
14:34Stretch it, and pull it through like that.
14:36Fuck you.
14:36Yeah.
14:38It's British punks.
14:39I'm using the flag of the UK because I love the UK, and I used to live in the UK for
14:44two years, so it's part of me.
14:45Look at that.
14:46If I do this, she looks like a slut.
14:49You know exactly what I'm saying.
14:51She looks like a slut.
14:53You never know how the fit this is going to be.
14:56Tell me about it.
14:57Fit in someone I've never fit before, and I want her to look very shapely.
15:03That's your big end?
15:04Yeah.
15:04Aren't you making it kind of small?
15:06No.
15:07She'll be fine.
15:08Are you sure about that?
15:09I'm positive.
15:10Girlfriend knows what she's doing.
15:13Do you guys think this is too simple?
15:14That might just look like vajayjay.
15:17Yeah.
15:18It's too naked.
15:19I wouldn't want to look like my coochie's all out.
15:22Mm-mm.
15:22Not a good look.
15:24That I prefer.
15:25Don't use the nude.
15:27It's just too nude.
15:29Like, that's why it's called nude.
15:32The gorgeous idea is a suit with a twist at the front so that it gives, you know how gypsies
15:38have always twists and, like, tied stuff on them.
15:42It's a hippie.
15:43I mean, hippies were swimming naked, so.
15:46I'm not going to stand on the runway naked.
15:47Can you put this on?
15:49Okay, you want me to put it on?
15:52Put it on.
15:53You want me to put it on?
15:54Yeah.
15:59I think.
16:00How does this go?
16:04That's not how it goes.
16:06That's not right, is it?
16:07I'm getting a heart on.
16:10It's so hot.
16:12Women's clothes.
16:16Oh, my God.
16:17It's so funny.
16:18Oh, my God.
16:19This is horrendous.
16:20Shut up.
16:21It's not horrendous.
16:22Look at this.
16:23Oh, my God.
16:25You just need some waist definition and some big, huge sh**.
16:34I'm freaking out.
16:36There's so much to do.
16:44This looks huge.
16:49The doll's spent a lot of time sleeping in this challenge,
16:53which rubbed people the wrong way,
16:54because he has a lot of lip, you know what I mean?
16:58It's around her neck.
17:01This is nothing.
17:02It's just trying to style her.
17:06The competition's at a different level now,
17:08and I'm just here for myself,
17:10and as far as Lucien goes, he's so insecure.
17:13It's ridiculous.
17:14He needs reassurement every f***ing 10 minutes.
17:17I don't want someone to have influence on my creativity and all my work,
17:21and I don't want to lose any momentum because someone is being an ass to me, so.
17:28Lucien, he's just emotional about everything,
17:31but he's not going to scream or call a person a name or, you know, hit under the belt.
17:36He's just going to isolate himself and be quiet about it.
17:39I take things personally, and that kind of throws me off and makes me doubt myself sometimes.
17:46Not often, but sometimes.
17:54How's it going, Sianette?
17:55It's going.
17:56This would be the plus size.
17:58Yeah.
17:59Paid-in suits are not supposed to be loose.
18:00They're supposed to hold you in, so.
18:02I'm not crazy about this.
18:05I think it's going to make her butt not look attractive at all.
18:08You really have a lot of options open to you as far as design sensibility.
18:12I know I do, but with this big person, I don't.
18:15When I did plus size women's wear for like 14 years,
18:18I finally found out that every woman is the same,
18:23whether you're big or small, it doesn't matter.
18:25There's a feminine mystique that is inside each and every one of you,
18:28and that is the power of a woman.
18:30And so they all want to look beautiful.
18:33I still think because she's so covered up at the front,
18:36she still needs something at the back.
18:38Just think about the design detail in the back, perchance.
18:41Thanks for your input.
18:44Evan, I'm done one.
18:46Full figure or model?
18:47This is the full figure.
18:49I wanted to ruse it through the body.
18:50She was really concerned of having a one-piece.
18:53She put her boobs out.
18:54Bus line, when you're working with a customer in your showroom,
18:57never call it boobs, okay?
18:59Yeah.
18:59Let's go.
19:00I've got the gold, buttery butt going on.
19:04Most women who can afford your type of garments are a size 10, 12, 14.
19:10So start loving every ounce of them because they are beautiful.
19:14And they love to look beautiful.
19:16So what's with the flutter on the butt?
19:19It's insulting, isn't it?
19:20There's no way in hell that any woman who is 35 years old is going to want that.
19:26Yeah.
19:26Or whatever.
19:27Come on.
19:27Okay.
19:28You need to get with this like you did with that dress.
19:30You won because you loved it.
19:32You have no time to sit around and wait.
19:34You better rethink the design part of this in the back.
19:37And when I come back tomorrow, I want to see something happening with that.
19:39Because it just looks to me like you just kind of went, eh, that isn't going to cut it.
19:43And because if you have immunity, it's not cutting it with me.
19:46Next, on Project Runway Canada.
19:55God, you're being such a little bitch.
19:56What is up?
19:57Why?
19:58I'm working, dude.
19:59Exactly.
19:59Why?
20:00You're such a f***er.
20:02We're not here to stroke his damn ego.
20:04I'm done.
20:04I'm not f***ing talking to you anymore.
20:06Keep playing your games, Fidel.
20:09Thanks, bitch.
20:10Thanks, bitch.
20:16Elimination day is today.
20:21As usual, someone's going to get their head chopped off.
20:26Now we're only six, so it's going to get harder and harder.
20:29I've got so much to do.
20:31That's crazy.
20:32What sucks is you have to do it for two models.
20:36And the ammo.
20:46If it's sheer, yeah, I like that.
21:00Can you see nipples?
21:01Of course.
21:03That's what fashion is about, nipples.
21:05Nipples and boobies.
21:08And asses.
21:09Today, I'm just indifferent.
21:11Completely indifferent.
21:13This is the only challenge that I didn't really pour my heart into.
21:18If you speak in a self-defeating way, it works against you.
21:23Is everything okay, guys?
21:24Yeah.
21:24Yeah.
21:25It's a little intense because my somewhat conflict with Fidel, it's affecting all of us.
21:31And I don't like that.
21:33We're just f***ing making clothes.
21:36Like, we're taking it so goddamn seriously.
21:38I don't know what has caused this whole rift, but Fidel has been pretty intolerable lately.
21:55Like, the way he interacts with people might be a little rough around the edges.
22:00God, you're being such a little b***h.
22:01What is up?
22:02I'm being a little b***h?
22:04Yeah, you're just, like, prancing around, like...
22:06Why?
22:07I'm working, dude.
22:07Exactly.
22:08Why?
22:09Tell me.
22:09I'm working.
22:10That's why.
22:11Yeah.
22:12Fidel is trying to provoke everybody at all times, especially me.
22:16I don't think he was threatened at all in this competition until a couple of days ago.
22:20I didn't know if it was because he didn't win the last challenge or what.
22:25And he suddenly was threatened by me.
22:26We're so different, and that's what makes it so complicated.
22:33You know?
22:34Like, couture versus, I don't know, slut wear.
22:43Boys.
22:44I have never met so many high-maintenance boys in my life.
22:51They're too much.
22:52But even Bedell, as rough and gruff as he is, he's so high-maintenance.
22:56It's unbelievable.
22:59But did you hear him in the car?
23:01He called you a b***h this morning.
23:03Like, I'm listening.
23:03Do you think I'm listening?
23:04He loves to take his jabs.
23:06His ego needs stroking a little too much, you know?
23:10We're not here to stroke his damn ego.
23:11Nobody wants to think that someone's in their way of 100 grand, and if somebody thinks that,
23:18oh, s***, this guy might take it instead of me, some people just start manipulating people
23:23into ganging up and pushing that person out.
23:27He's such a f***er f***er.
23:28I don't know how one's ego gets so inflated so quickly.
23:37Good morning, everybody.
23:39Good morning, guys.
23:40One in six chance at a major prize.
23:44100,000.
23:45That's pretty good odds, I would say.
23:47Remember, today you have until noon to have everything finished.
23:51Let's bring in your models so you can get busy and get started on fittings and everything.
23:55Don't forget, you have to go up and see Eddie and Eric in the L'Oreal Paris Beauty Room.
24:00And of course, there is the winner's accessory wall.
24:02And you'll also have an opium.
24:04Let's put this to there.
24:07Oh, yes, baby.
24:07It's going to fit, baby.
24:11Oh, I like it.
24:13I don't know about the plus-size model.
24:16Hopefully, it makes her look shapey and not just big.
24:19I'm so sorry.
24:20I'm looking forward to being safe today.
24:23I want to make it to the final three.
24:25That's my main focus.
24:27I want to show at L'Oreal Fashion Week.
24:29Like, that is my game plan.
24:33It needs key elements.
24:36Right.
24:37It does not need more action on the back end.
24:39Right.
24:40It needs more action here.
24:43Always in the bust, the neck.
24:44That's what they love.
24:46Correct?
24:46That would be correct.
24:48But you got action, baby.
24:49I do, yeah.
24:51What are you doing with that thing now?
24:53Oh, I'm going to drape it around.
24:56Don't be covering up all that beautiful skin.
24:58She didn't go for a tan for nothing.
25:00No.
25:00Always.
25:00No, she's going to be fabulous.
25:04Everybody has won a challenge except for me.
25:07I'm like the Susan Lucci of designers
25:10because I haven't won anything yet.
25:12And it's just, I don't know why
25:14because I think, you know,
25:15I've done some pretty good stuff.
25:17Let's go to the wall.
25:18Let's check it out.
25:19Preferably bronze.
25:21If not, gold is fine too.
25:23Yeah.
25:24I've got a couple for you
25:25because I really like the studs ones.
25:27Yeah.
25:28Try that and then we'll try these.
25:30Okay.
25:31This thing actually might work
25:32because that totally works with it.
25:37Okay, let's go to hair and makeup.
25:39Ladies.
25:39Thanks.
25:40Okay.
25:40This is my inspiration.
25:45Queen Dre.
25:46I really do want to do the face.
25:49I want the mole on both of them.
25:51Remember, the colors are just black.
25:53Bronze.
25:53Bronzy.
25:54Face.
25:54Bronzy face.
25:55Because the bathing suits aren't costumy at all,
25:58they do have the influence of the time period
26:00that I've chosen,
26:00but I just may as well go full force on the makeup and hair.
26:03I'd like maybe some texture in it,
26:06like a bit of wave and curls.
26:08I've got the Studio Line Curl Power Spray.
26:10It'll just define it a little more.
26:11It'll just enhance the curl.
26:12Love that.
26:14I wanted them to look
26:15as if they were Mediterranean water nymphs or something.
26:19I was thinking bronze, shimmer.
26:21Yeah.
26:21Everywhere.
26:22Just like bronze, you know, like everywhere.
26:25Yeah.
26:26After, I will use a color-rich nude.
26:30I love the lip color.
26:32The inspiration, it's British punk chicks.
26:35Yay.
26:36Okay.
26:37Are you excited?
26:38Tell me you're excited.
26:39Yeah.
26:40For Amanda, I did like the big hairdo,
26:43like, you know, like that with a huge makeup.
26:45All the colors are red, white, and blue.
26:47And when I saw Shirley,
26:49I was just like,
26:50there's for sure she's going to have the mowak, you know.
26:54This is Sublime Glow.
26:55We use that for the runway.
26:57It's very beautiful.
26:59Go team.
27:00Thank you so much.
27:02You're welcome, sexy.
27:04Are you okay with time?
27:05Yeah, I think so.
27:07Designers, you've got less than an hour or two.
27:09Get this onto the runway.
27:15Cute.
27:16Just enough butt.
27:17Yum.
27:20Designers, you have 10 minutes
27:22until the model has to be on the runway.
27:25Any model standing in a bathrobe
27:27should start putting her outfit on now.
27:35You have 60 seconds, designers,
27:37and then it's tools down.
27:38I'm coming.
27:46You don't have to come for me.
27:47Okay, everyone.
27:48Models, designers, follow me.
27:50We're late.
27:50We're over the time.
27:52We need to get to the runway now.
27:54Let's go.
27:55Well, she has to get into it.
27:57You should have had her into it five minutes ago.
27:59Shoes.
28:00Grab them and run.
28:01Let's go.
28:01Let's go.
28:02Okay.
28:02Do Chandi rock.
28:06Next, on Project Runway Canada.
28:13Through the middle, I think it just makes her look heavy.
28:15Wham, bam.
28:16Thank you, ma'am.
28:17You played it really, really safe.
28:20Some of you sank right to the bottom.
28:29Hello, designers.
28:31Hello.
28:31Hello, Iman.
28:32We have eliminated six designers so far,
28:36and six of you remain.
28:39The final three will make it to L'Oreal Fashion Week,
28:42and one of you will be the first-ever winner
28:46of Project Runway Canada.
28:49This challenge is the first time you have worked
28:52with plus-size models,
28:55which means that you will each be sending
28:58two looks down the runway.
29:00Now, let's welcome our judges.
29:03First, from El Canada,
29:05Editor-in-Chief Rita Sylvan.
29:07Next, from Bustle Clothing, Sean Hewson.
29:10And our guest judge, Too Lee,
29:14he's the creative director
29:15for Saks Fifth Avenue and Ports.
29:17His work with Roots and the Bay
29:20dressing Team Canada at the Olympics
29:22made Canadiana very, very cool.
29:26Welcome, too.
29:27Let's start the show.
29:35Dre was the first one out.
29:38She looked very cute.
29:38The ruffles were cute.
29:40Just sleek and elegant
29:42with a little Marie Antoinette touch.
29:51Then it was Jennifer's turn.
29:53She worked it.
29:54She was very confident.
29:55She rocked the runway.
30:01She did a little pose.
30:03I thought she looked great.
30:04I was really proud.
30:15I thought it looked beautiful.
30:17I just did something really simple.
30:21But I think sometimes simple makes a huge impact.
30:29What I did for my plus-size model, Julia,
30:33was I used a lot of really deep, deep drapes
30:36to create a slimming effect.
30:40I thought she looked amazing.
30:41I thought she looked amazing.
30:50My model was amazing.
30:51I thought she just added her own touch.
30:55She's been working with me for a while,
30:57so I think we're becoming a team.
30:58I thought my plus-size model was quite good, actually.
31:10I told her how to walk,
31:12and there were a few pointers about walking on her heels.
31:15I was pleasantly surprised.
31:16The room was completely silent,
31:31as if a true geisha had stepped out on the runway.
31:34You could feel the energy just sort of drop
31:37in all eyes straight to the runway and just silence.
31:42It was cool.
31:43It was a cool effect.
31:46My plus-size model was Keisha,
31:50and she rocked it today.
32:09Amanda was really into it, you know,
32:11like punk and everything,
32:13and just going for it, you know?
32:16I think she had fun.
32:23It's really interesting, you know,
32:24like to work with different buddies.
32:27She had that attitude like,
32:29watch out, you know?
32:31I mean, she was great, you know,
32:32she was really confident.
32:33You know, this challenge was very, very hard.
32:48And when I saw it on the runway,
32:51I thought it looked beautiful.
32:52I was quite pleased.
32:52I love my plus-size model.
33:04I thought she was just unbelievable.
33:11I thought it looked great.
33:12I'm very happy.
33:13If I say your name,
33:28please step forward.
33:31Stephen.
33:36Fidel.
33:37Both of your designs
33:43channeled your fashion moment
33:45swimmingly.
33:47Thank you,
33:48and you can leave the runway.
33:55I'm going to be totally up front with you.
33:58Do it.
33:59The way you come across
34:00is a little strong.
34:03Why?
34:03Because you guys don't think you can beat me?
34:05Is that what this is?
34:06Fidel,
34:06I'm responsible for everything.
34:08Take credit for what you've been in, okay?
34:09I'm taking responsibility.
34:10You've been an obnoxious jerk.
34:12Everything I'm done.
34:13Thanks, bitch.
34:15I'm done.
34:16I'm not fucking talking to you anymore.
34:18Keep playing your games, Fidel.
34:26The rest of you
34:27are the designers
34:29who scored the highest
34:30and the lowest.
34:32Let's bring out your models.
34:35Blue Chin,
34:40let's start with you.
34:41Tell us about your swimsuits.
34:43My theme for the swimsuits
34:45were hippies,
34:46jeepsies.
34:47So I used
34:49a lot of earth tone colors,
34:51a lot of braids,
34:52embellishments.
34:53Rita.
34:54I don't find them
34:55to be terribly cohesive.
34:58I think you could have used
34:59the same color palette
35:00for the other bikini.
35:02It's also kind of dreary.
35:04And I feel this was
35:05a very safe palette
35:06to work with.
35:07I think you could have done
35:08more with it.
35:10As you know,
35:11I come from Romania.
35:11There's lots of jeepsies.
35:13And that is very jeepsie-like.
35:15Okay.
35:16I stand corrected.
35:17It just sort of seemed
35:19a little flat
35:20when it could be
35:20so much more death,
35:22you know.
35:23But I do give you kudos
35:24for creating a cover-up
35:26that was right for the era
35:28because I think
35:29in a lot of the other suits
35:31it was sort of lazy,
35:32but I think the kimono
35:33was very smart.
35:35Chanel.
35:36Well, for the 1920s,
35:37I wanted to pick
35:38shimmer for sure,
35:39something shiny.
35:40But I also wanted to
35:41make it somewhat sexy
35:43and somewhat now.
35:44Something you could
35:45actually wear.
35:46When I think of the 20s,
35:47I think of dancing
35:48and movement.
35:50And I expected to see
35:51that in the suits.
35:52I mean,
35:52it's a bit clean
35:53and choppy.
35:54I think of Coco Chanel
35:55when I think of the 20s.
35:58I feel like the paneling
35:59on the plus-size suit
36:00creates the entirely wrong
36:01illusion for me.
36:03Through the middle,
36:03I think it just makes
36:04her look heavy.
36:05For the plus-size model,
36:07I do find that
36:08the details are very busy,
36:11not terribly flattering.
36:14Marie Geneviève.
36:15So I was inspired
36:16by the UK
36:17and the British-like punk.
36:19So for this one,
36:20I went for a brighter color
36:21and I did the flag of Scotland
36:23and England as well
36:25together for the UK.
36:26And I just used rings
36:28as well for both of them
36:29to make it more,
36:30you know, the punk.
36:32It was the first time
36:33I was doing swimwear
36:34and working with Lycra.
36:37So it was kind of
36:37a real challenge for me.
36:39I'm really impressed
36:40because I think,
36:41really, you disguise the fact
36:42that you're not a swimwear designer.
36:43I've never done that.
36:44And I have to say
36:45with all of the suits,
36:47the plus-size is the strongest
36:48because that could be
36:49graded down to size 0,
36:51petite, size 24.
36:53It's a great suit.
36:54From me,
36:55wham, bam,
36:56thank you, ma'am.
36:58As Bowie would say.
37:00First of all,
37:01beside the suit,
37:02it is the model.
37:04You went for it.
37:05You were strong
37:06on the runway,
37:06so touche.
37:07It was very well done.
37:09Kendra,
37:10tell us about your suits.
37:11Well,
37:12I chose
37:12Marie Antoinette,
37:14I guess,
37:14the 18th century era.
37:16So I did
37:16mostly of the corseting
37:18and I just kept
37:18the pleating detail
37:19on the front
37:20and the shoulders.
37:21Same with hair
37:21with the corseting,
37:22the crop version
37:23and the ruffles
37:24and the pleating.
37:25Sean.
37:26Well,
37:26when I think
37:26of Marie Antoinette,
37:27I think of,
37:28other than heaving bosom,
37:30I think of ruffles
37:31and lavish
37:33sort of fabrics
37:34and I think
37:35you've definitely
37:36referenced it.
37:37You could have
37:37probably gone
37:38a little further
37:38with it,
37:39but I feel like
37:40on the plus-size,
37:41that corset
37:42should be a bit more
37:42like, you know.
37:43Just up there?
37:44Just a bit more.
37:45I didn't want it
37:46to end up being
37:47costumey,
37:48but I just wanted
37:48to keep the details
37:49on the hips
37:50and the accents
37:50on the bust line.
37:53The whole animal skin,
37:54I think that's
37:54the wrong fabric
37:55that you had picked
37:56and the construction
37:57on the regular size,
37:59I think that little
37:59boning is hitting.
38:00That's a visual distraction.
38:02It ruins the whole bandeau.
38:05There was no one
38:06at Marie Antoinette's court
38:07who was a shrinking violet.
38:08It's so subdued.
38:10It doesn't say
38:11Marie Antoinette's court
38:12to me.
38:12You had so much
38:13to work with here,
38:14maybe too much
38:15to work with.
38:16I think you played
38:17it really, really safe.
38:20Thank you
38:21and you can leave
38:22the runway.
38:24Okay, so what about
38:31Lucia?
38:32I think maybe
38:32if it was executed
38:33differently,
38:34you know,
38:34with a different eye
38:36to fabric,
38:36it could be good.
38:38And what did you think,
38:38Sean?
38:39You know,
38:39it seemed to sort of
38:40look nice
38:40when it was moving,
38:42but when they were
38:43standing there,
38:44it was so boring.
38:45He was channeling
38:46what he felt
38:47was authentic,
38:48but not something
38:49that was fashion.
38:50and I think
38:51that's where
38:51he went astray.
38:55Marie Genevieve.
38:56It had humor.
38:57Yes.
38:57It had personality.
38:59It was saleable,
39:01especially the one
39:01for the plus-size model
39:02was perfect.
39:03You would see that
39:04in a very nice shop,
39:05a boutique today.
39:06If this was the Olympics,
39:07she would get a gold medal.
39:08But I did get concerned
39:09thinking maybe
39:10is she a good stylist
39:11or a good designer?
39:13In construction,
39:14there was no construction.
39:14She's lucky
39:15that she got
39:15an amazing,
39:16confident,
39:17plus-size girl.
39:18But, you know,
39:19if she had
39:19a slightly less
39:21confident model,
39:22who knows?
39:25What did you think
39:26of Kendra?
39:27I mean, really?
39:28Kendra really,
39:29even though she didn't
39:29want to be costumey,
39:30was so costumey.
39:32She had a plus-size model.
39:34Yeah.
39:34You couldn't have asked
39:35a better theme
39:36for a plus-size model.
39:36Without cleavage, right?
39:38And still,
39:39it missed the point.
39:40Kendra took,
39:41you know,
39:41she referenced the theme.
39:42She didn't go crazy with it.
39:44I'm sorry,
39:44but there was no reference
39:46of Marie Antoinette there.
39:47She had the ruffles.
39:48She had the ruffles.
39:49And what was the thing
39:50on the model's neck
39:51that was supposed to be,
39:52what, a corsage?
39:53What was that?
39:54It's a piece of fabric
39:54that was left
39:55from the other bathing suit.
40:01So let's go
40:02from bad to worse.
40:04I don't know.
40:05Charnette.
40:05Yep.
40:06What did you guys think?
40:08On the plus-size suit,
40:09I thought,
40:10like, you did it backwards.
40:11You made it wrong
40:12completely backwards.
40:13I mean,
40:14instead of, you know,
40:15showing off curves,
40:16it sort of made her look dumpy
40:18through the middle.
40:18It was awful.
40:19Absolutely.
40:19Charnette,
40:20I give her some points.
40:21I thought her color palette
40:23was correct.
40:24But it wasn't to me
40:26that great flapper energy,
40:28that emancipated woman,
40:30very sportive,
40:31but very chic
40:32at the same time.
40:33And unfortunately for her,
40:34she actually did say
40:35Coco Chanel.
40:36I know.
40:37I know.
40:37I was like gasping.
40:38No corner.
40:39Please, don't remind us
40:40that it's so not that.
40:42So not that.
40:45We have a decision.
40:47Let's bring the designers in.
40:48Designers,
40:55one of you has won this challenge.
40:59And one of you will be out.
41:10Designers,
41:14in this swimsuit challenge,
41:16some of you made a splash.
41:18And some of you sank
41:22right to the bottom.
41:27Since we have only
41:28a couple of challenges remaining,
41:31there is no immunity
41:33from this point on.
41:36And now,
41:38for our decision.
41:43Marie-Jean-Beef.
41:46Anarchy in the UK
41:48has never looked
41:51so good.
