00:00Previously on Project Runway Australia.
00:02Your challenge is to create an avant-garde design for materials from this hardware store.
00:08Go!
00:09Like a shithouse.
00:10We've seen her outfit so she should be stressed.
00:12Holy crap!
00:13Ryan.
00:14His is a shocker.
00:15It's pretty scary.
00:16It still looks like garbage.
00:17No, no, no.
00:18She'll just put her frickin' head down.
00:20She'll be fine.
00:21Fuck off.
00:22You open your mouth and you just piss me off.
00:30Lauren, you are the winner of this challenge.
00:33Everyone's got to watch out for me.
00:35Claudia, you're out.
00:41The winner of Project Runway Australia will receive a serious small car,
00:45the all-new Holden Cruise CDX,
00:48a six-page fashion spread in Madison Magazine
00:51and a $100,000 opportunity to design and show their own collection
00:56at the 2010 Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.
00:59Courtesy of Rosemount.
01:01This is Project Runway Australia.
01:04Can't buy style.
01:06Break the rules.
01:07The search for Australia's next big fashion designer.
01:10I want to see the passion in your fashion.
01:12Just try to ignore me.
01:14Who will be in?
01:15Who will be out?
01:16I'm in.
01:17They're out.
01:18I don't think so.
01:20For these 12 designers, Project Runway is the chance of a lifetime.
01:29I'm feeling a little bit, um, sad that Claudia's gone.
01:37Yeah.
01:38I know she didn't get along with everyone here.
01:40It's a shame that the other contestants never got to know her
01:43because she's got a heart of gold.
01:47Challenge four, guys.
01:48Let's go.
01:49I didn't know where we were going.
01:50Shut up, chirpy modding boy.
01:52Well, it's a new challenge.
01:53I don't know where the hell we're going, but we're all excited.
01:56We're in the lift and the door's open and look who it is, Henry.
02:03I'm taking you on an excursion.
02:06Are you ready?
02:07Yeah!
02:08Let's go!
02:09Woo!
02:10So we all piled into the cars and off we go.
02:14I had no idea what the challenge would be.
02:17There was a lot of speculation going on.
02:19Lauren wants to go to the Chocolate Factory and eat her way through.
02:22Yeah.
02:23We drove past this football ground and we saw all these football players.
02:27Maybe that's who we're dressing.
02:29Some footy players.
02:30If I had to design an outfit for an AFL player,
02:34there probably wouldn't be much clothing,
02:36so it wouldn't be so much fashion.
02:38It would just be a bit more swimwear, maybe.
02:41Oh, my God, we're dressing men.
02:44I didn't dress them, I just...
02:45I'm dressed them.
02:46Oh, now Lauren's away.
02:47Zoo!
02:50Yeah.
02:51Welcome to Melbourne Zoo.
02:53Hands off, Snakey.
02:54Everybody wake up.
02:55Let's go.
02:56Well, we go to the cars and Henry welcomed us to Melbourne Zoo.
02:59I've never been, so I'm really excited.
03:02This challenge could be very wild.
03:04I think there's going to be a few claws out.
03:06Grrr.
03:07Meerkats.
03:10I love them.
03:11I love them.
03:17Designers, I guess you're wondering why we're here.
03:20Yeah.
03:21Thanks.
03:22So far, the nine of you had to rely solely on yourselves
03:26to get this far in this competition.
03:29Well, that's all about to change.
03:33Good.
03:34For your next challenge, you'll be working in teams of three.
03:42I would love to have Anthony in my group.
03:45Or William.
03:46Or Mark.
03:47Now, I'm going to give you just 30 seconds to choose your teams
03:52and select your team captain.
03:54Oh, no way.
03:55Oh, my God.
03:56I feel flicked.
03:57Your time starts now.
04:00Choose your teams.
04:01Lauren was next to me, so I just grabbed her.
04:03And then Amber was there, so we grabbed her as well.
04:06So, we've got three with the best hairs.
04:09Thank God William was there to the right.
04:12I just grabbed him.
04:14Mark was there too.
04:15And then we sort of turned around there.
04:18First in, first heard.
04:19And Ryan was there.
04:20And we're like, oh, my God.
04:21Um, sorry, dude.
04:23All right, we've got a problem here.
04:25Ryan, what's going on here, buddy?
04:26I grabbed on first.
04:28I win.
04:29I kind of got rejected from the group.
04:32And it ended up being the three of them.
04:34Oh, okay.
04:35Well, I'm a victor.
04:36I'm sorry for that.
04:37Yopi and I found each other straight away.
04:39And then Ryan was left over.
04:41So, we got Ryan.
04:43Oh!
04:48I am in a team with Kellyanne and Ryan.
04:52Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
04:54Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
04:55Just non-stop.
04:56I'm thinking, there's no way are we going to get this work done if they don't shut the
05:01fuck up.
05:03All right, designers.
05:04Who have you chosen to be your team captains?
05:06Hands up.
05:07Kellyanne.
05:08We have Michael and William.
05:11In my hand, I have three envelopes.
05:14Inside each envelope is a map that will lead each team to a different animal.
05:19That animal will be your team's source of inspiration for this week's challenge.
05:26Animal prints.
05:27Tiger prints.
05:28Feathers.
05:29Um.
05:30Not really me.
05:32Each team must produce three different outfits that are clearly inspired and influenced by the
05:39animal they are given.
05:40However, each designer in each team must take ownership of one outfit.
05:46It's essential that all three outfits must tie in with each other to form a cohesive collection.
05:56Only one team will win this challenge and be safe from elimination this week.
06:01To win the challenge and be safe for another week would be insane right now.
06:06However, a very different fate awaits the bottom two teams.
06:11Because one designer from each of those teams will be eliminated.
06:18I know.
06:19What?
06:20That's really stressful.
06:21Two designers will be eliminated.
06:23That's not good news.
06:25For this challenge, you'll have just eight hours.
06:29Fuck off.
06:30Having eight hours to design three pieces that's cohesively collaborative for a collection is
06:38going to be crazy.
06:39All right, team captains.
06:41It's time for you to come up and select your envelopes.
06:49Now, each team will have 30 minutes to find their animal and sketch their ideas.
06:55Teams, are you ready?
06:56Yes.
06:57Good, so let's go.
06:58We opened the envelope and there was a map of the zoo.
07:03And so I just worked out where we were.
07:05We're here.
07:06So we have to go.
07:07All right, let's go.
07:08Down that way.
07:09All right, let's go.
07:10And we went running to the area.
07:11Let's run.
07:12Oh, lions.
07:13Whoa.
07:14It's a lion.
07:15Oh, that's awesome.
07:16Wow.
07:17Lions are beautiful, amazing creatures.
07:19So we're very excited.
07:21Actually, I think the eye will be a great colour detail.
07:23Yeah.
07:24Definitely.
07:25And the paws too.
07:26We just worked together so well.
07:28It was brilliant for three different strong people to do that.
07:32So you have that mane which is really quite dark.
07:34Our vision for our collection is going to be high fashion.
07:38Imagine doing a big beautiful bowels with a frilled collar.
07:40Yeah, that's right.
07:41I want to do that one.
07:42That would look like a lion's mane.
07:43Yeah, yeah.
07:44It would be brilliant.
07:45Lions, the king of the jungle and us three boys are going to be the pride of Project Runway.
07:51Butterfly House.
07:52Butterfly House.
07:53Butterfly House.
07:54We're going to win.
07:55We're totally going to win.
07:56We ran into the butterfly enclosure and we went bananas.
08:00I was really excited that it was butterflies.
08:05I'm feeling confident that we can pull it off.
08:07Look at that blue one at the back.
08:09That really gorgeous.
08:10That is gorgeous.
08:11We're inspired by the butterfly, particularly the Ulysses.
08:14It's an incredible electric blue and black butterfly.
08:18And that's going to be our colour palette.
08:20So we need to make sure that it all works together as a cohesive collection.
08:24Yeah, exactly.
08:25Butterflies are the best inspiration.
08:27The colours are amazing.
08:28The shapes are amazing.
08:30And the contrast between their hard bodies and their soft wings is perfect for design.
08:35Fantastic.
08:36Zebras.
08:37Awesome.
08:38Stripes.
08:39Stripes.
08:40White and white.
08:41Tailoring.
08:42Chevroning.
08:43Stripes.
08:44Fantastic.
08:45We finally honed in that the zebra was the one that we were given.
08:49It's a very strong defined animal and something that could really be translated quite well
08:54into clothing.
08:55I'm happy with evening.
08:56It's within the budget.
08:57But it's up to you guys too.
08:58Ryan, what's your strength?
08:59Um.
09:00You want to go home?
09:01What's your strength?
09:02I'm thinking long.
09:03What if we aim for a main detail like soft drape?
09:06No.
09:07I don't do drape well.
09:08Uh-huh.
09:09I just can't believe it.
09:10Already five minutes they were...
09:12What if we aim for something like business wear?
09:15I'm just thinking black and white then.
09:16You're really working within the conference room.
09:18I don't want to put anything out on a catwalk that looks like a weighted uniform.
09:21Kellyanne was very dismissive of any output that I put in.
09:26And that's it.
09:27We're just wasting a bit of time here.
09:28So basically silhouette is...
09:30At the moment it's very much the Kellyanne show and we just have to adapt as best we
09:34can.
09:35All right, designers, off to Rathdown.
09:38Let's go.
09:39Yay!
09:40I'm giving you 15 minutes to purchase your materials.
09:45Let's go!
09:46Woo!
09:47We've arrived at Rathdown.
09:48We've got $70 each or $210 collectively.
09:52We've got our colours.
09:54We're just grabbing everything colourful.
09:56That's darker.
09:5710 bucks a metre.
09:58Hot.
09:59That is stunning.
10:00There's no problems at all finding what we needed.
10:03Exactly the jersey we needed and all the chiffons.
10:05Perfect colour.
10:06We even found a wall in the same tones.
10:08It was like fate.
10:10It was great.
10:11That's nice.
10:12Brilliant.
10:13Perfect colour.
10:14I thought it looks cheap.
10:15That's just my opinion.
10:16Cool.
10:17How about this?
10:18I think this is a lot classier.
10:19The fabrics that Ryan purchased were cheap, cheap, cheap.
10:22Okay.
10:23They're not great, but...
10:26Ryan has got two options for his fabric.
10:28Neither of which I really think is appropriate, but...
10:31I can bring it up there.
10:32Selfishly enough, I am more concerned with choosing fabric for my own dress.
10:36The fabric looks good.
10:38I can work with the black.
10:39I did feel there was a pretty solid lack of support towards what I was doing,
10:44where they were more into their own thing and not really trying to keep an overall view
10:50as to where this was going as a group project.
10:53So you guys don't need any extra material or...?
10:55No.
10:56We'll make it work.
10:57Okay.
10:58Cool.
10:59So, how are we getting on as a team?
11:02We're fat.
11:03We are so screwed!
11:04Next, on Project Runway Australia.
11:06Sorry darling, but you guys have...
11:07No, you're not sorry.
11:08Freaking self-centred arsehole.
11:09That's so passive, aggressive, and you know it is!
11:10No!
11:11No!
11:12Thank you, Rathdown!
11:13After leaving the Rathdown store, we arrive at the White House, walk into the workroom,
11:28and we have eight hours to go in this challenge, and I'm like, let's get designing people.
11:32Good.
11:33So that's our main fabric.
11:34That's your jacket.
11:35Will's doing a jumpsuit, Anthony's doing jodpas and a top.
11:39I'm doing a jacket and a skirt so that we can mix things up a bit and keep it fresh on the catwalk.
11:48That'd be pretty.
11:49I think that'd be really nice.
11:50I'm just going to do waist, I'm going to do slash poppers.
11:55Okay.
11:56We decided to base an evening gown again for Kellyanne, and for me to do a pencil skirt with a tight bodice,
12:06and for Ryan to do trousers.
12:09Okay, so we're going for a textural version of the stripes that we found on the zebra.
12:13Yeah, pretty much.
12:14Cool.
12:15I'm all for that.
12:16Getting a pant and shirt is a bit of a risk, but it will give our collection a dimension
12:21that it wouldn't have otherwise.
12:23You do your pant and...
12:24Can I steal your dummy?
12:25For this, I don't know.
12:26Hey, does that pick your dummy?
12:27Someone's taken my dummy.
12:29I'm going to spit the dummy.
12:31Who just took my dummy?
12:32It's over there.
12:33Oh, no, it's not.
12:34I took Yopi's mannequin, which was my mannequin for the last challenge.
12:37It had all my pins on it, so I just swiped it.
12:41Honey, she's mine.
12:42You guys have one, so...
12:43No, no, no, it's an individual challenge.
12:45Um, it's a group challenge, too.
12:47Well, I thought it was first and best dressed.
12:48Michael, you could have asked.
12:49Jeez.
12:50He's a pig, Michael.
12:52Freaking self-centred arsehole.
12:54Sorry, darling, but you guys...
12:55No, you're not sorry.
12:56You could have asked.
12:58He actually took it and went, sorry, hun.
13:02Whatever.
13:03Hey, you don't have a hairband here, do you?
13:05Ask Michael.
13:06He might have taken it from you.
13:08Hey, designers.
13:15Hey, Henry.
13:16Hey, Henry.
13:17Right about now, I'm gonna bring in the models.
13:20You'll have half an hour to work with them.
13:23Please make the best of it.
13:25You're working as team, so let's do it.
13:27With the models coming so early, it definitely put our team at risk.
13:31We're all so freaking out.
13:33We're like, oh, my God.
13:34Okay, ladies, in your game.
13:36You have only half an hour.
13:37Nobody had anything ready, and I thought, shit.
13:40So I just grabbed my pattern and just started cutting out the jumpsuit.
13:44Because I'm doing a jumpsuit.
13:45It's the hardest thing to fit.
13:46And I pinch the mannequin off Yopi, and she's, like, threatening to pinch it back.
13:51They came in too early.
13:52We had nothing to put on them.
13:54They were waiting around, sitting around, chatting to each other.
13:57Yeah.
14:01Oh, that'll be fine, because that'll have fabric on the back, so that'll be fine.
14:05Are you sewing for everyone else?
14:07No, just mine.
14:08It was close.
14:09It was really close.
14:10Then Henry came back and said, that's it.
14:12Model's out.
14:13William, stop straight away, please.
14:15Naomi, off with that outfit immediately.
14:17Thank God I had something to fit.
14:22Basically, we've got the skirt now, so these lines here.
14:24Will be an overlay if there's time to do it.
14:26Cool.
14:27So then that'll have, like, darker colour on it.
14:29Yeah, darker black over the top of it.
14:31Cool.
14:32I want the top done perfectly on mine before I start on the top layer of the skirt.
14:36Kellyanne actually changed her design.
14:38From the original sketch that she had, she was planning to do the skirt with layers of black and white
14:44to bring out that zebra thing and kind of work in some pleating.
14:48And unannounced to anyone in the group, suddenly she just abandoned the whole thing and said,
14:52no, I prefer this look.
14:53The only reason I mention it is colour-wise, we want them to tie in as much as possible.
14:58You have completely black pants, honey.
15:00Yeah, well, that's what I mean.
15:01That's what I mean.
15:02Like, so what I'm saying is, like, the top layer of mine is black.
15:04And the main bulk colour of that one ends up being this.
15:07It's all black at the top.
15:08OK.
15:09I have the picture of my dress, and I'm going to make that picture of my dress.
15:14If we need to change anywhere along the line so that my dress will work better with the other two,
15:19I'm more than happy to do it.
15:21When you look at them all together, you don't exactly want them to stand out that they're...
15:24Oh, look, they've tried to match that with that with that with that.
15:27Everything needs to be cohesive without looking like we're trying too hard to match everything up.
15:30So I'll just stick to this one then.
15:32Kellyanne kept drumming to us.
15:34It still needs to be a standalone piece.
15:36You guys are responsible for your garments.
15:38You know, I'm not going to take responsibility for what goes wrong in your garments.
15:42That's not what a team leader says to their team.
15:46Right?
15:49Hello, designers.
15:50Am I very popular with you today?
15:52No.
15:53No!
15:54It definitely always freaks me out when Henry comes in.
15:56What if he decides that he hates it and then you have to change it last minute?
15:59This challenge is absolutely a killer.
16:03So what I want to do, I'm going to be working on each individual team
16:07and I want to make it focused and I want to really be powerful in my thoughts
16:10to really assist each and every one of you as teams and as individuals.
16:14So, William and your gang, are you guys ready for me?
16:17Yes, we are.
16:18What was the animal that's inspiring this collection?
16:20Okay, we had the lions.
16:21Yes.
16:22So the things that stood out with us would be kind of the colours and textures.
16:25And they're also quite lean and muscular animals.
16:29I love the fact that you were acting as a team.
16:31I love the fact that I'm seeing a cohesive look.
16:33I'm seeing a collection.
16:34So I think as a group, I'm proud of you.
16:37This was all about being...
16:39It's bloody tough.
16:40It's very bloody tough.
16:41It's absolutely...
16:42And you don't, so I don't want to take too much time.
16:45Henry just says what we all think.
16:47So it was just another confirmation and we were on track and he was quite happy with it.
16:52It was good to see that he thought it was sleek and modern and still very us, which was good.
16:58Bye.
16:59Thanks, Henry.
17:02Okay, Team Butterfly.
17:03How's your team?
17:04Is everybody good?
17:05Good.
17:06We're working well as a team.
17:07So that's good.
17:08Check that off.
17:09And your inspiration is?
17:10The Butterfly.
17:11Okay.
17:12And the evolution of the life cycle.
17:14I am designing the butterfly when she's first breaking out of the cocoon.
17:18Lauren definitely had to do the first dress in the cocoon.
17:21Michael just kind of did the full length dress.
17:23I'm glad you explained this to me because, okay, this is what I think.
17:27I can see you working together.
17:28I can see the fabrics of talking to each other.
17:31I also understand the evolutions, but where I'm getting caught and what's worried me quite a lot is that it's almost like a mixture of eras.
17:40So we've got like, I'm looking at 70s and then I'm looking at 80s.
17:44Well, Henry said that my particular design was beautiful, but it was looking more 70s than it was cohesively with the other butterflies, which were looking more 80s.
17:57So I've got to age it a decade.
18:00Does this help?
18:01Yes.
18:02Thank you, Henry.
18:03I'm respecting you guys.
18:04I know it's very, very stressful.
18:05Hey, guys.
18:06Hello, Henry.
18:07How are you doing?
18:08More importantly, how are you doing?
18:09Team Zebra.
18:10We're in need of some advice from them.
18:13Okay, no problem.
18:14And how do you feel you guys are working as a team?
18:18We're working well in terms of getting our garments done.
18:23In terms of creating a uniform look for it, we feel that there are some gaps that need to be bridged.
18:27Yeah.
18:28And er...
18:29I can see those gaps.
18:30This is kind of like one of the first times we've actually put everything together to have a look.
18:35But guys, why are you doing that now, not in the beginning?
18:38Henry could see that we were having problems because five minutes before he came in, we put the garments together and it was not looking like a collection.
18:48I just wanted to crawl into a hole and die.
18:51What you guys have to do is stop right now and work out what's going on here because it seems to me that the top of this is starting to work together with the rest of the collection,
19:02but that pant is somehow out of step, literally, with the rest of the look.
19:08Okay.
19:09Henry points out the obvious that we should have picked up on eight hours ago and that is that the pants are wrong.
19:15You're the team captain.
19:16Yeah.
19:17What's going on?
19:18I don't want to be dictatorial and it's a group challenge, yes, but it's also an individual result for someone going home.
19:26So, I don't want to be forcing someone to be making decisions that could impact on them going home.
19:33So, I'm not going to tell someone what they must do because we're a group of three people.
19:38Oh, that's so passive-aggressive.
19:39That's so passive-aggressive and you know it is.
19:43No.
19:44Look, I...
19:45Yes, it is.
19:46I'm sorry, I just don't think I should tell Ryan that he has to do something.
19:49But the thing is, you're the team leader.
19:50It's like being the head designer.
19:51I don't see how me saying that someone should be responsible for making their own decision and not guilting them into doing something that I want to do.
20:00How the hell is that passive-aggressive?
20:02You guys have to band together and put in the strengths, not highlight the differences.
20:07Differences.
20:08Thank you, bye.
20:09Fantastic, thank you.
20:10Thanks.
20:12That looks beautiful.
20:15It looks like a Mardi Gras float costume more than a butterfly.
20:19I'm going crazy in here, mate.
20:21After Henry's critique, the room is filling up with steam, coming from Kellyanne's nostrils.
20:26Luckily, I had work to do in the sewing room.
20:31So I did a runner.
20:39Henry's just accused me of being passive-aggressive in my leadership style and I'm really offended by that.
20:45Kellyanne threw a tantrum.
20:50I'm cracking the shits.
20:54Kellyanne is scary.
20:55Maybe that's why I'm not sleeping at night, because I'm scared she's going to kill me.
20:59Okay, so are you happy with this?
21:02Doing this skirt?
21:03Henry's advice was that Ryan's pants was too black.
21:08So Kellyanne suggested for Ryan to make a skirt, which I thought was a good idea.
21:13Are you happy with this skirt?
21:14Yep, that's a skirt a little bit.
21:15Because this is the outfit that you'll be taking responsibility for.
21:18I've decided that if he didn't want his very beautiful model, Annalise, to be naked, that she had to have a skirt.
21:25We're trying to figure out the whole skirt thing, so basically everything's not the way it was planned to be and everything's behind.
21:38It certainly wasn't an ideal suggestion, but I had to take one for the team and do what was best for the group.
21:44Hello, Henry.
21:50Go away!
21:52The time has come for me to tell you all that you have to have your tools down.
21:56Time is up. Everybody out.
21:59Eight hours is up. We've pretty much finished our garments.
22:01We've just got to get the models to come in tomorrow morning, and hopefully we'll have two hours to do the final touches.
22:07I'm just thinking, God, I hope I can pull this off tomorrow.
22:10I've had to abandon a completed pair of tailored pants, and I don't have an outfit.
22:17I'm pretty much up shit creek without a paddle.
22:20That's the end of that time.
22:24Next, on Project Runway Australia.
22:26You all have just ten minutes left.
22:29It was frantic.
22:31Not over to the fat lady team.
22:41It's runway day.
22:43Oh my gosh.
22:44I found this zebra rug you can probably use.
22:46Ha!
22:47It's runway day today.
22:48We just desperately have to get in there and finish off everything and pull this thing together.
22:53So you slept right after your words, Kellyanne Larson up?
22:56She pushed out the PMS of all things.
22:59Are you serious?
23:00Under no circumstances am I ready to leave yet, and I don't want to.
23:03I think he's just happy to play the victim from The Big Bad Bitch.
23:10I share a room with Kellyanne, but last night I needed to sleep on the lounge to get my head clear.
23:17I tried every type of leadership style I could, and nothing seemed to work.
23:21We just needed to stay focused and stop the bickering.
23:25I'm feeling pretty excited.
23:26I reckon the butterflies are going to flutter away.
23:29Let's go team GHD.
23:30Yeah.
23:31Come on bitches, get your asses down here.
23:33Today, butterflies and zebras are going to rule the actual kingdom.
23:37Yeah, whatever.
23:38There's going to be two people left here.
23:45Let's go team, let's go.
23:46Oh, good butterflies.
23:48We arrived at the White House and runways in a couple of hours.
23:53Ooh, I love that.
23:56But we just don't want to turn it too bondaged.
23:58No.
24:00I was a crazy lady on that sewing machine this morning.
24:04It was frantic.
24:07Where are you?
24:08No, because we need it.
24:09Do you have another one anyway?
24:10You have to go and ask for it.
24:15That wasn't very Christian of you.
24:16Hello, designers.
24:18Hi.
24:20So you have right now two hours left in which I'm going to send you and your models to the Trisame hair salon and the Max Factor makeup area.
24:30Don't forget the beautiful Gregory Ladner accessories and the Andrea Yohan shoes you know can make or break your look.
24:38Have you got the passion in your fashion?
24:41We do.
24:42Then let's show it.
24:43I'm bringing in the models.
24:44Good luck.
24:45I want to see smiles and happiness and don't kill each other.
24:51You're sort of the butterfly fetus.
24:53Do you think that's alright?
24:54Oh, that looks pretty.
24:56Perfect.
24:57Nice, mate.
24:58It's like every straight man's dream here.
25:00Just rolling your butt.
25:03When Henry came in and said two hours left, I was like, oh my God, give us another eight hours.
25:08Okay.
25:09Let's try this little bolero on.
25:10This is definitely the most frantic I've ever been in the workroom.
25:13Wow.
25:14It really is a race to the finish line, isn't it?
25:16Yep.
25:17Amber, so is like a maniac at the best of times, but this morning she's just like a woman possessed.
25:23She's still got a lot of work to do.
25:25So, not looking good.
25:29Luckily we really don't have that much to do.
25:32Ryan still has to make his shirt wearable.
25:35I don't feel comfortable with you going down like tits out.
25:38It's a little bit like tart city, 1988.
25:42I am a little bit concerned that my outfit is going to be the one that sticks out as I've
25:47already been singled out by Henry.
25:49Ryan, do you want to go and finish your shirt while we do the rest of the fitting with Annalise?
25:53Yeah, sure.
25:54And I'll put the skirt on her and then bring her in.
25:56I really thought that Ryan should be involved in making that skirt.
26:00Are you happy with the length that I've done it?
26:02Yeah, sure.
26:03Yeah?
26:04Okay.
26:05But hey, she's the team leader and I suppose I have to leave that up to her.
26:10Okay, then now I'll lift people.
26:12It's not over till the fat lady sings.
26:19And it can be quite messy.
26:20Okay, so don't touch the texture.
26:25A braid holding this around here.
26:30Thank you so much, I appreciate it.
26:33Do you want lashes up and down?
26:35Lashes everywhere.
26:36Really fresh, chewy.
26:42He's amazing.
26:45Are you good?
26:46Oh, so pretty.
26:48I wouldn't like Kellyanne to be my team leader.
26:52Speak of the devil's bitch.
26:54Ryan is definitely Kellyanne's bitch.
26:56All he needs is a collar and a lead.
26:59Do you feel like the devil Kellyanne's bitch?
27:03Yes.
27:05I still think that abandoning the pants is the only right thing to do.
27:08If I didn't abandon the pants, I would be jeopardising our opportunity to do well as a group.
27:15So are you right to go take over now on this?
27:17Okay, we need to then move on to the belt.
27:20My background's in sport.
27:21You always do what's best for the team.
27:24I mean, obviously, in terms of a look, I would have preferred to have gone down the runway with the original outfit that I designed.
27:32I really think that Ryan should be staying with his pants.
27:35I hope Ryan doesn't get caned for it because, at the end of the day, you have to be responsible for an outfit.
27:41Hi, designers. You all have just 10 minutes left.
27:45I'm happy with my dress.
27:47If it's going to be judged on our team workability as well, then I think that I have a very high chance of going home.
27:55How's it feel? Like a Kellyanne creation.
27:58Kellyanne's outfit stunned me. I was amazed at how beautiful it was.
28:02But it should be because it's exactly the same as the other outfits.
28:05Just used the same bodice pattern.
28:07Boring.
28:09Will's design was a knockout. I would wear that in a heartbeat.
28:13My butt look good in there?
28:14Your butt looks good in everything.
28:16At the end of the day, this was about us working together as a team.
28:19And we're just so excited to see the server team get crucified on the catwalk.
28:24It's going to be like a train wreck.
28:27All right, designers. Tools down, and I mean it.
28:30Not one more stitch, otherwise I will disqualify you.
28:33Amber, nothing.
28:35Are you ready for the runway?
28:36Yeah.
28:37Let's go. Out, everybody.
28:39Thank you very much.
28:40Out we go.
28:42On to the runway.
28:45Next, on Project Runway Australia.
28:48It just looks a little daggy.
28:50I kind of saw the Lion King prancing around on stage.
28:53It's like this early 70s patio party.
28:56You don't look very happy.
28:57You don't look very happy.
28:58Hello, designers.
29:00Hi, Chrissie.
29:02Welcome to the runway.
29:05As you know, in fashion one day you're in, the next day you're out.
29:10Your challenge this week focused on the wilder side of fashion.
29:14When Henry took you to Melbourne Zoo to meet some animals that would be your inspiration for your latest creations.
29:21However, for this challenge you would not be working alone.
29:24But in teams of three.
29:27Each team was asked to design three outfits inspired by the animal that they were given.
29:33Each designer in each team had to take ownership for one outfit.
29:37However, it was essential that all three outfits complemented each other to form one cohesive collection.
29:44Of the three teams, only one will win this challenge and be safe for another week.
29:51The other two teams will face elimination.
29:54In fact, a double elimination.
29:58One designer from each of the bottom two teams will be going home.
30:03Now, let's meet the judges.
30:07First up, we have leading Australian designer, Jason Brunston.
30:11Hi, designers.
30:12Hi, Jason.
30:13Next, we have fashion buyer extraordinaire, Sarah Gale.
30:16Hi, everyone.
30:17Hi.
30:19And our guest judge this week, renowned Melbourne designer, Arthur Gallen.
30:23Hi, guys.
30:24Hi, Arthur.
30:26They will decide if you have what it takes to make the cut.
30:30We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
30:33The team with the highest score will be the winners.
30:37And two of you will be out.
30:40Let the show begin.
30:44I was relieved.
30:47It came together.
30:53I got it done and it works.
30:59I definitely think it fits the collection cohesively.
31:01And it's a pretty interesting look.
31:05So, hopefully the judges will love it.
31:10Sarah looked incredible.
31:15The skirt floated and fluttered out beautifully.
31:22It was the perfect shade of blue.
31:25When I saw the butterflies collection, it all looks fantastic.
31:30Seeing it up on the runway, in lights, was amazing.
31:42I was really happy.
31:43It was very sleek, very understated, very elegant and, yeah, it really captured what the line was about.
31:57Not easy to do a jacket in eight hours.
32:01I was really happy.
32:02She looked really hot in it.
32:04And the skirt was short, was sexy, was really good.
32:10For once, it felt really good to see my stuff come down a runway.
32:26It really worked for me.
32:28It was good.
32:29I think we've really showed the judges, you know, three sexy looks.
32:38How could they not be impressed?
32:48I was actually remarkably surprised.
32:53The pencil skirt with the shirt, it came together quite well and I was very happy with the look of it.
33:00I was very happy with it.
33:04The design pleats really did look like a zebra print.
33:08It worked out, even though Kellyanne didn't like the raw edges.
33:19I think my dress is very commercial.
33:20I think it's a pretty evening dress.
33:27I'm happy with how it looks.
33:30I think all of the drama has been worth it.
33:40And the fact that we all survived and haven't actually hurt each other is pretty impressive.
33:43We've scored your designs and we'd like to talk to all of you.
33:54Team Butterfly, let's bring out your models.
33:57Michael, how did you guys work as a team?
34:01We were fantastic together. The whole collection was a real collaborative effort.
34:08Lauren brought up the idea of the life cycle of the butterflies.
34:12I think your idea was great to take it from the cocoon through to the emerging butterfly.
34:16I like that you haven't gone down the pretty, pretty butterflies and pretty, pretty rainbow colors.
34:21Yeah, that would have been the obvious choice. I'm going to like that.
34:24It has a gothic edge to it.
34:25Arthur, do you find this collection cohesive?
34:27I think it's very cohesive. Your fits are immaculate and I can sort of see the flow from one to the other.
34:36The thing that's actually disappointed me is from the second to the third, where I thought, Michael, you could have just had your finale dress as an explosion of that volume that's starting to sort of come through in the second outfit.
34:49Yeah.
34:50I do agree with Arthur. And while it's a beautiful dress, I just think they could have just been a bit more, wow, the butterfly's out of its cocoon now.
34:59I'm not as happy, Amber, with yours and the execution of your dress. Could your model turn around, please?
35:06Sure.
35:07The construction on that back piece is just bagging out a little bit. On a shape like that, you've got to be super careful.
35:12That bubbled hemmed blob of colours that are kind of twisted and knotted into the front, that seems to compete with the rest of the dress.
35:21Yeah.
35:22It's like you've got a couple of dresses all going on at once.
35:24And why did you choose knee length?
35:26Just for the progression of the stages to fit into the collection.
35:30I love a story, but it just looks a little baggy at that length.
35:35Team Lion, William, as team captain, will you please talk us through the collection?
35:41The strongest impact for us was the leanness and the elegance that they had, and this amazing muscle tone on them.
35:49It's the women who do the hunting, so we wanted them to be quite strong and elegant before they've gone on the prowl.
35:55Jason, do you think that they've hit the brave?
35:57They've taken the idea of a lion and turned it into fashion.
36:02I mean, this looks like fashion. It's feminine, it's wearable.
36:05I mean, your collection covered loads of different pieces rather than doing, say, three dresses.
36:11So I like the fact that you'd done mix and matches. That really worked for me.
36:15I actually saw a family of lions, because I saw the female here with Anthony's...
36:19As in me or her?
36:21Well...
36:23But I saw the female there. Then in the more structured jacket, I saw the masculine side of the male.
36:28And then in almost a romper-type suit, I then saw the little cub.
36:32So, yeah, it's sort of... I had this whole storyline going.
36:36I think it's fantastic that you guys didn't sort of do the obvious.
36:39You've got a certain softness, Anthony, in sort of your mane that you've got around the neck.
36:44It's great that it's very feminine and has a beautiful volume to it, rather than, you know, doing the fur thing.
36:49We wanted it to be high fashion, so obviously the mane was such a huge detail of the lion,
36:55but we wanted to make it soft, feminine and beautiful, not like a costume.
37:00William, can your model turn around, please?
37:02It's great back.
37:03I love the back.
37:04This is the back on the... the lion has a really strong back, and women always have beautiful backs.
37:09The hood throws me a little.
37:11Can we see it off?
37:14I probably would have added a little bit more to the hood to sort of give it a little bit more drama,
37:19just to make it a little bit more mane-like when it's actually down,
37:22because you wear it down most of the time.
37:27Sarah, what did you think of the zebra collection?
37:30I'd like to hear the thoughts behind it.
37:33We decided straight away that we wanted to do three different evening wear looks.
37:37Black tie, cocktail and sassy drinks after work.
37:40We wanted to avoid the cliché black and white stripes, so by doing that we decided to represent the stripes by pleats,
37:48and pleats in different ways.
37:50Each piece on its own is quite chic and quite beautiful, but I don't think it comes together very well as a cohesive collection.
37:58I mean, does it look like it comes together to you, or...?
38:01There's fabric commonality between them, and...
38:05Why did you choose to stand apart from the black and white that the other two outfits have used?
38:10I simply didn't want to have my dress being a white skirt and a black top.
38:15Why the grey?
38:17When we actually looked at them, there was actually quite a lot of greying,
38:21instead of just straight black and white, particularly around the eyes and around the hind.
38:25It either needed to go through, obviously, all three outfits, or not at all.
38:31To my eye, it looks like there's two outfits that I could actually see in the same collection,
38:35and then one very standout, different outfit.
38:40The design details that I was working on was really kind of the cut pleats,
38:46which is similar to what Yoppy has got, and then the slightly more structured version,
38:49which picks up touches of what Kellyanne has in her design.
38:52How did you work in the team?
38:55We had a little bit of a communication thing at first, where we weren't really all on the same page.
39:00Who did?
39:01Kellyanne and myself.
39:04My first point of call was actually a pair of heavily structured kind of tuxedo tailored pants.
39:11As much as it might have benefited me to have the pants as a strong independent look,
39:15as an overall, it would have set me even further apart,
39:18and at the end of the day, it is a group challenge.
39:20So did you actually make the pants?
39:22I'd completed a pair of tailored pants.
39:24We had to abandon the pants.
39:26Kellyanne helped cutting the skirt, the fitting and the final touches I did myself.
39:31Ryan, you don't look very happy.
39:33The initial breakdown in communication came from a lack of her listening to what
39:38the two other people on the team were trying to tell her.
39:41Was it what Kellyanne was doing, or was it the brief that you had all decided on to begin with?
39:47I would say it was closer to where she was going.
39:50Kellyanne, as team leader, do you take responsibility for this collection?
39:55Part of the brief was that we take ownership over an outfit,
39:59and that's why I wasn't going to bombard someone else with my aesthetic decisions,
40:08because it's for them to own their outfit.
40:13We've heard what you've had to say.
40:16We're now going to have a chat, and I'll call you back.
40:22You can leave the runway.
40:23Well, let's start with the lion team first.
40:33I thought the lion team did really well.
40:35It was very feline.
40:37You could see the animal within their collection, yet it wasn't costume.
40:41It was fashion.
40:42It was.
40:43Let's talk team leader, William.
40:45I thought the hood was a bit messy.
40:47If it was going to go there and be worn back, it needed to have a little bit more to it.
40:51I kind of saw the Lion King prancing around on stage when I saw that first.
40:55Although I loved the back of it.
40:57The back was great.
40:58The back was sexy.
41:00Anthony's.
41:01I mean, you know, that jodhpur shape has been around for a couple of years,
41:04but I think he was playing upon the shape of the lion as well as a bit of a safari thing.
41:09He accentuated a lion's hind legs and he really did it down to a T.
41:14The neckline was divine.
41:15I thought the execution of that neckline as a mane, beautiful, feminine, softness, gorgeous.
41:23Let's talk about the butterfly team.
41:25I loved all the garments.
41:27I liked how they took it away from just being pretty, pretty butterflies.
41:30But I thought they lost it in the theme a little.
41:32I had some issues with Amber's outfit.
41:34I just feel that it was outdated.
41:37It just wasn't new enough.
41:38It was two dresses competing with each other.
41:41I just think of a butterfly as being beautiful.
41:43And what I saw there was something that was more bondage than butterfly.
41:49Michael.
41:50It was just a dress.
41:51It was just a dress.
41:52It was a lot more volume than that.
41:53Absolutely.
41:54It would have been much more butterfly effect.
41:55It's like this early 70s patio party glamour.
41:59Team Zebra.
42:00Well, their team definitely wasn't black and white in the decisions were they.
42:08There were three kind of good looks.
42:09Well made.
42:10They just didn't come together at all.
42:12I didn't see a cohesive collection there and I didn't really see Zebra, I've got to say.
42:17Kelly-Ann just kind of took black and white as the theme and added a bit of grey.
42:22That grey skirt that she put up there was just, killed it for me.
42:27I mean, I don't think Kelly-Ann's leadership was great.
42:32Not great, but there was two pieces there that looked like they could be part of the same collection.
42:38Yeah.
42:39Whereas Ryan's looked from a different planet.
42:40Who wears a sequins waistband to the office?
42:43Yeah, I know.
42:44It's...
42:45As a designer, you have to be able to say, this is my work.
42:50He wasn't proud of it at all.
42:51No!
42:52He looked like he kind of gave up.
42:56The fact that one from each bottom team would be leaving has actually saved one of those.
43:01Yes.
43:02Because one of them is going to be very lucky.
43:05Alright then, let's bring them back out.
43:11One designer from the winning team will be the winner.
43:14And two designers from the bottom two teams will be out.
43:23One designer from the winning team will be the winner.
43:27And two designers from the bottom two teams will be out.
43:34It's now time to announce the winning team.
43:39Congratulations to...
43:44Anthony.
43:46The Lion Team.
43:52Looking at your designs, it's obvious that you pulled together as a team.
43:56To create a collection that was not only cohesive, but captured the essence of your animal beautifully.
44:02We were extremely impressed.
44:04Well done.
44:05And now, for the overall winner of this challenge.
44:10Congratulations to...
44:12Anthony.
44:14Oh, thank you.
44:15You are the winner of this challenge.
44:19This means you now have immunity for the next challenge and cannot be eliminated.
44:23Team Lion, congratulations.
44:25You can now leave the runway.
44:29It feels really good to have won a challenge.
44:35I was really blown away and surprised.
44:40You won.
44:41Yeah, you won.
44:42You got the challenges.
44:43It's brilliant.
44:44Yeah.
44:45I'm so happy.
44:46I could not talk without you guys.
44:50To the two remaining teams.
44:52The Zebra team and the Butterfly team.
44:55You have recorded the lowest scores and now two of you face elimination.
45:00One designer from each team will be out.
45:08Lauren.
45:12You're in.
45:14You can leave the runway.
45:22Yopi.
45:26You're in.
45:29You can leave the runway.
45:39Michael.
45:41Amber.
45:43One of you will be out.
45:46Amber.
45:48While elements of your dress were impressive, the construction was questionable and the overall look dated.
45:55We were expecting something new, but what we got was a dress stuck in the past.
46:01Michael.
46:03Although your design was well executed, it lacked wow factor.
46:07As the final piece in your team's collection, your dress should have been a showstopper.
46:11But it was far from that.
46:12Michael.
46:13Michael.
46:14You're in.
46:15You can leave the runway.
46:21You're in.
46:22You can leave the runway.
46:25That means Amber, you're out.
46:28That means, Amber, you're out.
46:45Thanks, Christy.
46:47Good luck.
46:49Thanks.
46:50Thanks.
46:52I'm a very strong designer, but not a very strong dressmaker, so I definitely think that's
47:00what let me down in this competition.
47:02No tears.
47:03It is what it is.
47:05It's meant to be.
47:06All happens for a reason.
47:12Kellyanne.
47:14Ryan.
47:16One of you will be out.
47:19Ryan.
47:20Your design was out of step with your team's collection.
47:24Although you were following a brief from your team leader, it seems you allowed your own
47:29ideas to be silenced.
47:31As a designer, you've let yourself down.
47:35Kellyanne.
47:36As team leader, it was your responsibility to ensure that your team produced a cohesive
47:40collection, which it clearly did not.
47:43In addition, your colour choice for your design was poor, and the overall effect, bland.
47:55Brian.
47:59You're out.
48:05That means, Kellyanne, you're in.
48:09Thank you very much.
48:12You can leave the runway.
48:25Goodbye, Ryan.
48:27Good luck.
48:28Thank you very much.
48:29I'm sure I'll need it.
48:30Thanks.
48:31I don't agree.
48:34I don't think that I should be the one going home.
48:37Enough.
48:39Oh, well, it couldn't last forever.
48:41Kellyanne is the one that should be going home.
48:43She showed very poor leadership skills.
48:46You're going to have to say your last goodbyes.
48:48Cool.
48:48You're going to have to go back to the workroom, pack your things, and leave.
48:52I definitely know that I've got a bright future ahead, and hopefully Project Runway
48:56is just a platform for me.
48:58This is definitely not the last you've heard of Anne Brunay.
49:00Remember that name.
49:02The future for me is going to be pretty simple.
49:06I'm going to continue doing exactly what I was.
49:08I'm going to try and do better than what I did last time.
49:11You can never, ever reach the top.
49:13There's always something to strive for, and I thoroughly enjoy doing that.
49:17I'm on Project Runway Australia.
49:22Designers, this week you won't be needing your models.
49:25Oh, I thought, crap!
49:27Are you ready to start recruiting?
49:29All these crazy designers are running around trying to find blokes.
49:33I'm officially pathetic.
49:34I'm really struggling with this.
49:36Imagine seeing this woman come flying at you in a Jersey leopard skin dress.
49:41Scary.
49:43I had a bit of a love and hate relationship with your design.
49:45It's just a guy who's gone into his mother's wardrobe and stolen her jacket.
49:50The jacket is feminine.
