00:00Previously on Project Runway Australia, you must create the show-stopping dress
00:05that will complete the jeton's phenomenal collection.
00:08Going home is not an option for me right now.
00:13I just need a hot dress.
00:15All four of us really want to be in the top three, so the pressure's on.
00:19I'm a little bit scared of the bodice area.
00:21I'm concerned about the fit.
00:23The time was not on my side.
00:25Bit nervous.
00:26I almost had a heart attack.
00:30Lauren, you are the winner of this challenge.
00:35Making it this far is an incredible achievement.
00:38Nirvana, you're out.
00:43The winner of Project Runway Australia will receive a serious small car,
00:47the all-new Holden Cruise CDX,
00:50a six-page fashion spread in Madison Magazine
00:53and a $100,000 opportunity to design and show their own collection
00:59at the 2010 Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, courtesy of Rosemount.
01:04This is Project Runway Australia.
01:07Can't buy style.
01:09Break the rules.
01:10The search for Australia's next big fashion designer.
01:13I want to see the passion in your fashion.
01:15Just try to ignore me.
01:17Who will be in?
01:18Who will be out?
01:19I'm in. They're out.
01:21I don't think so.
01:22For these 12 designers, Project Runway is the chance of a lifetime.
01:31Let's start with the winner of this challenge.
01:36Lauren.
01:39Looking back on the first day, I never thought I would make it this far.
01:43I dreamed I would, but making it this far is an incredible achievement.
01:47Anthony.
01:48I can't believe I'm in the final three of Project Runway Australia.
01:53Being able to showcase a collection in front of the industry is amazing.
01:58William.
01:59As nice as it is to have your collection shown,
02:02it's still really important for me to win.
02:05So, gloves on, Anthony and Lauren.
02:08I'm going to fight you to the end.
02:17Wow.
02:20Well, hello, designers.
02:22Hi, Chrissy.
02:24Congratulations to the three of you for making it this far.
02:27Thank you very much.
02:28You are all now officially in the final of Project Runway Australia.
02:33Over the last 10 weeks, you've overcome challenges
02:36that have pushed and tested you as designers like never before.
02:41And you all rose above your competition to be the last three standing.
02:47But now, you're about to face your most important challenge.
02:54For your final challenge, you must create a collection of 10 looks,
02:59which you will showcase at a live fashion show
03:02in front of an audience of your peers.
03:09You'll be given a budget of $10,000
03:13and the next two months to put it all together.
03:17We get $10,000 to go away and do a collection.
03:22When do you ever get that chance?
03:24It's pretty special and I'm excited and my mind's ticking.
03:27Unlike previous challenges, there are no restrictions, no boundaries.
03:35Just your imaginations.
03:39This is your opportunity to create a collection
03:42that tells us exactly who you are as a designer.
03:46I've definitely got so many ideas now for my collection.
03:49I hope Australia would love it, but who knows?
03:53Well, designers, it's now time to bring out a familiar face.
04:00Hey, guys. How are you doing?
04:03Yes, it's me. Hello, Christy, darling.
04:06Hi, Henry.
04:08Really momentous moment. Are you really excited?
04:10Yes, very excited.
04:12Well, obviously, this is a time of your lives to really cherish
04:15and in the next couple of months,
04:18I will be going to visit each and every one of you
04:21prior to your final show.
04:23I'm very excited to see what you guys come up with
04:26because we're really expecting a lot.
04:28This is the single biggest opportunity of your lifetimes,
04:32so make the most of it, OK?
04:34Good luck.
04:36Thanks, Henry. Pleasure.
04:38To celebrate you making it through to the final,
04:40Henry and I are inviting you to join us for a glass of champagne.
04:43Fantastic.
04:45One last toast before the big show.
04:48We'll see you backstage.
04:58Ah, this is nice.
05:01We went backstage to meet Christy and Henry for a drink.
05:04Hi.
05:06And after ten weeks and just everything being so intense,
05:08you just felt relieved and it just put a really personal,
05:13nice feel to it and everybody was so happy for us.
05:16So, how was it?
05:18It's intense.
05:20It's the most exciting time I've ever had in my life, though.
05:23Wow.
05:25How about for you guys?
05:27It's just an awesome experience.
05:29Right from the get-go, all of you guys were incredible.
05:31Yeah.
05:33I could see that you all had a unique and really good flair.
05:34It's just amazing to toast your good luck and good fortune.
05:38You've still now got a long way to go.
05:40We do have a long way to go and I'm very excited to see
05:43what you guys are going to come up with because I do believe
05:45that we have three of the strongest designers that I've seen
05:48and it's going to be a fantastic finale.
05:51So, here's to Project Runway Australia.
05:53Project Runway Australia.
05:55Good luck, guys.
05:57Fantastic.
05:58It's the last day in our apartment.
06:14We had to pack up, so it's a bit sad because it's all coming to an end,
06:18but we all know it's the beginning of something bigger.
06:21Very weird packing up to leave the apartment.
06:25I've kind of grown accustomed to it and Anthony and I wanted to stay there
06:29and we thought maybe we could do our collections from there
06:31and just take opposite ends of the house, but I don't think we could afford the rent.
06:36I'm going to miss you.
06:38Aww.
06:40I'm really excited for you guys too, and me.
06:43I still don't think it sunk in that I'm doing a collection
06:45and I'm a finalist on Project Runway.
06:49It's crazy.
06:52Oh, my God.
06:54What are you guys looking forward to most?
06:56I can't wait to go and have a dance.
06:58Yeah, I just miss my friends.
07:04Oh, my gosh, our last day.
07:07We went back to the White House to pack up all our belongings
07:10and it was really weird being in there and thinking of all the challenges we had done.
07:16It's a bit sad that we're all going out different ways.
07:20It's only two months though, so I'll see them soon, but it's really sad.
07:24Oh, my kitty.
07:28Hey, designers.
07:29Boy, did you put on a show or what?
07:32Hi, Henry.
07:34Gather around.
07:36So, guys, this is your last moment here at the workroom.
07:38And the next time you are back here, you're going to be preparing for the final show.
07:43And let me tell you about the final show.
07:46It's incredible.
07:47The atmosphere is amazing.
07:50Literally, the glitterati of the fashion world will be assembled
07:54to see who is Australia's next biggest thing in fashion.
07:58But now, are you ready to leave?
07:59Yeah.
08:00Let's do it.
08:01Come on.
08:03Bye.
08:05Wow.
08:06Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye.
08:07Thank you, Henry.
08:08Bye.
08:09Bye.
08:12I don't want to say bye.
08:13I love those boys.
08:14They're like my brothers now.
08:15And I'm really going to miss them.
08:16See you later.
08:17See you later.
08:18See you later.
08:19Take care.
08:20Look after yourself.
08:21Be where we are.
08:22Take care.
08:23Take care.
08:24Take care.
08:25Look after yourself.
08:26I don't want to say bye.
08:27I love those boys.
08:28They're like my brothers now.
08:29And I'm really going to miss them.
08:30See you later.
08:31Good luck.
08:33My message to Will and Lauren is definitely just good luck.
08:37I really hope the best man or girl wins.
08:40Because we all deserve to be where we are.
08:43See you, White House.
08:45Take care.
08:46Be well.
08:47Be well.
08:48Get in there before you bawl your eyes out.
08:49I'm definitely leaving the White House and Project Runway and feeling like a designer.
08:55I've got a direction now and watch out.
08:59Here I come.
09:01Bye, Henry.
09:02Bye, White House.
09:04I can't wait to see the boys in two months' time.
09:07To be showing our collections is going to be the biggest moment of our careers.
09:11See you later.
09:12Good luck.
09:13See you in your homes.
09:14See you in your homes.
09:15Take care.
09:16Next, on Project Runway Australia.
09:17Henry's coming.
09:18It kind of matters what he thinks.
09:19This is really aggressive.
09:20It's early red leather in Australia.
09:21Oh my God.
09:22I'm just very overwhelmed.
09:23You're going in circles at the moment, aren't you?
09:24Is it scaring you?
09:25Um, yeah.
09:26Looking forward to seeing Henry today, I really need to speak to him.
09:27You can expect to have a fantastic feast.
09:28Mum's cooking lunch.
09:29Mum's cooking lunch.
09:30And I think Henry will just help me to hone my vision, really.
09:35And I need that.
09:36Henry, how are you?
09:37Good, thank you.
09:38Oh my goodness.
09:39Are you excited?
09:40Yes.
09:41Are you nervous?
09:42Are you nervous?
09:43Are you me too?
09:44It is really strange.
09:45It is really strange having Henry in your home.
09:46Henry, this is my mum and my dad.
09:47Hello.
09:48I could smell curry through the house when I knew I was going to have a treat.
09:52If I can put my home in the house, I really need to speak to him.
09:53You can expect to have a fantastic feast, Mum's cooking lunch, and I think Henry will just
09:55help me to hone my vision really, and I need that.
09:58Henry!
09:59How are you?
10:00Hi, how are you?
10:01Oh my goodness.
10:02Are you excited?
10:03Yes, I'm nervous.
10:04Are you nervous?
10:05Are you me too?
10:06It is really strange having Henry in your home.
10:09Henry, this is my mum and my dad having a drink.
10:13Hello, I could smell curry through that house and I knew I was going to have a treat.
10:16My dad loves just meeting the man in person.
10:19I have to say I really wanted to meet who the people were behind Laura and the family.
10:23How she's become such a grown-up, elegant, sophisticated designer
10:28and I'm starting to understand when I look around me
10:31there's just love all over the walls here.
10:33Are you like really proud of her?
10:35No, I'm quite proud.
10:37Yeah.
10:38When I was really, really young, I used to love helping sew costumes
10:41and I think that's how I really got into fashion.
10:43I think it's probably the dancing background
10:45because I would be there sewing, sewing, sewing and sewing
10:48and she would be helping.
10:49I've been dancing since the age of five
10:51and dancing has always been a strong part of my life.
10:54You do the manly run, I think?
10:56Cheerleading, yeah.
10:57That is brilliant.
10:58I love cheerleading because it's fun, energetic
11:02and I think I bring that edge to my fashion.
11:06I can't believe I'm in this situation.
11:09Okay.
11:10Okay.
11:11Up.
11:12Down.
11:13Down.
11:14Down.
11:15Down.
11:16Down.
11:17Down.
11:18Down.
11:19Whoa!
11:20Oh God.
11:21Oh my God, I love it.
11:23Fantastic.
11:24My family's been awesome with me being on Project Runway.
11:28They've been so supportive.
11:30I wouldn't have gotten this far or done this well without my family.
11:35How important is this for you, for her, for your family?
11:42It's important to know that Lauren is doing what she really believes in and loves.
11:46That's so nice.
11:47Fashion has always been her passion.
11:50I'm glad you said that and not me.
11:55Has anybody been allowed into the room to see any of her work? None of you?
12:03Now I really want to see what you've prepared for the runway.
12:07You ready to show me?
12:08You want to go see it?
12:09Yeah, let's go.
12:10Mum put on a fantastic lunch but now it's time for Henry to see my collection.
12:14Henry, this is my workroom.
12:16Finally.
12:17What have we got here?
12:18Okay, these are some of my fabrics that I've been working with.
12:21Okay.
12:22What really inspired me was the black roses that Jeton gave to me.
12:28Congratulations.
12:29With my collection I wanted to do sort of a demi-couture range inspired by the black roses that Jeton gave me.
12:36I do commercial design for a living so I wanted to take an area that's different and just kind of do something outside the box.
12:42My collection's for young females who want something very left of centre, who aren't scared to take a risk and wear something completely wild.
12:50What's that?
12:51Cow hide.
12:52Oh my God.
12:53I've never seen a cow like it.
12:54And look at that colouring.
12:55It's so insane.
12:56It just spoke to me.
12:57It screamed at me.
12:58Show me what you've done.
12:59I have to see it now.
13:03I was feeling really nervous with Henry's critique because there was something up with my collection
13:09and I just was stuck and not getting anywhere.
13:24Henry's immediate reaction when he unveiled my collection was not the best.
13:28Okay.
13:29This is what I think.
13:30I think you've got the fabrics.
13:32You spent how much time on sketching?
13:34Not long, right?
13:35No.
13:36And you went panicking straight into the collection.
13:39You're going in circles at the moment, aren't you?
13:40Yeah.
13:41Okay.
13:42Stop.
13:43Breathe.
13:44And don't panic.
13:45I think I'm just very overwhelmed with the fact that I'm actually here in the top three.
13:53Is it scaring you?
13:55Um, yeah.
13:56Why?
13:57What are you scared about?
13:58Tell me.
13:59That's alright.
14:00Just tell me what you're scared about.
14:01Because I think we've got to get to the bottom of it.
14:02Because you've got a blockage.
14:03Yeah.
14:04It's just...
14:05What is it?
14:06You don't think it's in you?
14:07No.
14:08It is.
14:09But I think I'm just scared of everything and Project Runway, the finale and what's expected
14:15of you and...
14:16What are those expectations?
14:18Up here.
14:19And where do you think you are?
14:21Not quite there yet.
14:23I think I'm really holding back at the moment.
14:26And trying to do something that...
14:28I don't know.
14:29It's just not totally me.
14:31It's very good to be honest.
14:33Yeah.
14:34It's good to say I'm scared shitless, basically.
14:36Are you?
14:37Yeah.
14:38It's okay.
14:39It was a sense of relief when Henry was talking to me.
14:42The reason you're one of the top three is because you're good.
14:46You're really good.
14:47You've got some really good ideas and I really love the fabrics.
14:50Mm-hmm.
14:51What I think you need to do is now stand back from it, sketch for a couple of days, throw
14:56the ten top looks up, try and complete each look at a time.
15:01Yep.
15:02Otherwise you'll be going backwards and forwards and you, young lady, will have a formidable
15:06collection.
15:07People see my collection at the finale.
15:08I really want them to go, wow, she's really being innovative.
15:11She's taken a risk.
15:13She's come through.
15:15That when you execute this is going to be amazing.
15:19Amazing.
15:20And people won't expect it.
15:22You've got it in you.
15:23I believe in you.
15:24And you are the dark horse.
15:26You are the one that no one expected.
15:29So just do it your way.
15:31Having Henry speak to me today has really helped me.
15:33It's really helped clear my head in a way and just helped me relax.
15:37You really are a doll and you've got it in you.
15:39And my expectation is you're going to do a great collection.
15:42I'd really love to win Project Runway.
15:45It would be an absolute dream come true.
15:48So I'm going to give it everything.
15:50I was pretty cool about Henry coming to visit for the last four or five days and then it
15:59hit me this morning.
16:00I got a little excited.
16:01I'm kind of looking forward to Henry getting another perspective on me.
16:06Because I think it will give him some depth on to who I am and why I do what I do.
16:11My God.
16:12Brilliant.
16:13Hi to babies.
16:14Since I've seen you.
16:15Since I've seen you last.
16:16What is going on?
16:17How are you?
16:18I'm very good.
16:19How are you?
16:20Who's this?
16:21This is Zola.
16:22Hello Zola.
16:23Is this your muse?
16:24I grew up in rural Adelaide.
16:28I like Adelaide.
16:30But I always wanted to be elsewhere.
16:33I always wanted to be in a bigger city.
16:34I used to just read fashion magazines.
16:36It was a way of transporting myself out of the life that I was in.
16:40I was the last of five boys.
16:43My brothers weren't very supportive at all from the beginning.
16:47And you can imagine they're all plumbers, electricians, building trucks.
16:52And then you've got me mentioning I want to go to fashion school.
16:56But I think when they saw me growing and just loving what I did, they completely got
17:01it and were supportive.
17:02So how are you doing?
17:03You doing all right?
17:04Very good.
17:05Excellent.
17:06You nervous?
17:07I wasn't yesterday.
17:08Paul thought I was.
17:09But I think it was more excitement nerves.
17:11Because it's the first time I don't even talk to them about colors or what I'm doing.
17:14You're going to be the first person to see it.
17:17Obviously you're William's nearest and dearest friends.
17:20And there's something about William as a designer, as a person, that's unique.
17:24So what is it about this man?
17:26He's actually the godfather of my child, or as we call him the fairy godmother.
17:33Outside of the fashion thing for me, William is a unique person anyway.
17:37He's a good chap.
17:38He's very funny.
17:39He makes me laugh a lot.
17:41In terms of our group of friends, you know William stands alone.
17:44In what way?
17:45What he says is always ahead of the pack.
17:47I talk to him about certain styles and designs.
17:50We talk about clothes and things that we've seen in shops.
17:53And there's always something that William can add to that.
17:57I just can't wait to see your things.
17:59Have you prepared for me?
18:00Yes.
18:01Let's go and have a look at your collection.
18:02You ready?
18:03Yeah, I'm ready.
18:04Good, let's go.
18:05Thanks guys.
18:06I'm nervous.
18:07I haven't shown anybody in my collection, so he's going to be the first one to see it.
18:10And it kind of matters what he thinks.
18:12Okay.
18:13Yeah.
18:15Next, on Project Runway Australia.
18:18Somebody with an untrained eye, they wouldn't know what to make of this.
18:24My goodness gracious me.
18:27Have you been fizzy and creative?
18:29I've been working my ass off.
18:30What are we on about here, man?
18:35Okay, Henry.
18:36Fantastic.
18:37My God, what an amazingly cool space.
18:40It's important to me that Henry kind of understands what I'm doing and gets my collection.
18:45Have you got something to show me?
18:46Yeah, it's like a lot to do.
18:48Let's see.
18:49Okay.
18:50If he understands it, then I think everybody else will.
18:52And you just, you need an affirmation on whether you're heading in the right direction.
18:56I'm going to start with this.
18:58What's your theme, by the way?
18:59South America.
19:00My collection is totally inspired from my holiday to South America last year.
19:05I kind of found myself there last year and really re-sparked my love of fashion in myself.
19:13This is very interesting.
19:14What is this?
19:15It's amazing.
19:16Where did you get that?
19:17It's really in Melbourne.
19:18Amazing fabric places.
19:20That's exceptional.
19:21My collection.
19:22It's strong.
19:23It's colourful.
19:24It's optimistic.
19:26Very sexy.
19:28Young.
19:29And it's just about feeling alive and appreciating other people.
19:33I totally get it.
19:34I think the shape is spot on.
19:35And you see the red leather.
19:37What?
19:38For the finale.
19:39This is going to be red leather.
19:40Red leather.
19:41That's hot.
19:42It's patent red leather.
19:43I peed my pants when I saw it.
19:45It's the only red leather in Australia.
19:47Oh, my God.
19:48Henry's response to my collection, it was quite good.
19:51I felt it was very favourable.
19:53He understood what I wanted and where the passion came from.
19:57And he really appreciated that I was doing my own fabrics.
20:00And it's important because it's part of my signature.
20:03It's probably what makes me different from Anthony's collection and from Lauren's.
20:07So now, do you have something to show me?
20:09Yeah.
20:10All right.
20:11I'm going to show you how to make my own prints.
20:12I'm going to show you how to make a pair of prints.
20:13I'm going to show you how to make a pair of prints.
20:14If somebody with an untrained eye, they wouldn't know what to make of this.
20:19Fortunately, one of my eyes is trained.
20:20One?
20:21They would know what to make of this.
20:23Fortunately, one of my eyes is trained.
20:25What?
20:26One of my eyes is trained.
20:27One of my eyes is dieting all around the room, Warren.
20:30How many pieces am I seeing here that are completed?
20:33Two.
20:34Two.
20:35And then...
20:36Two with one with full of pins?
20:38Yeah.
20:39Well, they're not completed.
20:40They've got fittings, but I, um...
20:42So we're maybe...
20:44We've almost finished one look.
20:46Yeah.
20:46Okay.
20:47All right.
20:48This is what I would say to you.
20:49You're throwing everything into this collection.
20:52You really are.
20:53Pull back a little bit and make sure that there's not so much colour
20:57and so much fabrication...
20:59Too much happening, yeah.
20:59...confusing.
21:00Yeah.
21:00Sometimes less is more.
21:02And the only other thing I can say to you is
21:04make sure that the collection doesn't end up being
21:08some pieces that are cool and hip...
21:10Yeah.
21:10...and some pieces that can possibly be to dowdy.
21:14Pieces like this can be a very difficult piece,
21:17not just to sell and to wear, but it could almost veer on being too twee.
21:22Henry has completely helped me today.
21:25He looked at it from a different perspective.
21:27It's good, and I'm excited with his input.
21:29Don't overwork it.
21:30Yeah.
21:30You've got some gorgeous fabrics.
21:33You are behind theoretically, but you've put a lot of work in the fabrications.
21:36In the prep work, so I feel like I'm actually ahead.
21:39Yes.
21:39Yes.
21:40No, I'm not worried in that regard.
21:42But when you're doing it, I want to see really modern shapes.
21:45You do want to win this, don't you?
21:47Of course I do.
21:48Is that a yes?
21:49Absolute yetzy, yes.
21:50Yes.
21:50Yes.
21:51I am putting absolutely everything into this collection.
21:54I want to win.
21:59It's everything to me.
22:01I'm personally excited.
22:02It would be very easy for me to say, just because I can only see one piece,
22:06I'm worried all of a sudden.
22:07I'm not.
22:08But I'm worried that you don't drown it out with too much color,
22:11too many fabrics, and too old.
22:14This has been unbelievable.
22:16Thank you, Henry.
22:17I really enjoyed it, and I'm blown away by the fabrics,
22:20and I want to be blown away by the contemporary frocks.
22:22Well, you will.
22:24Bye.
22:25I've really got to buckle down and get busy,
22:27because I want to win.
22:36Henry's coming to visit today.
22:37I'm quite excited.
22:39The last few weeks, I've been working on my collection nonstop.
22:43It really epitomizes me as a person and as a designer.
22:48So I really hope he will appreciate it and love it.
22:51Anthony.
22:52Hello.
22:52How are you?
22:53Fantastic.
22:53How are you?
22:54Good to see you again.
22:56Fantastic.
22:57Are you flushing?
22:57Are you nervous?
22:58No, I'm really hot.
23:00Damn it.
23:00Nothing that makes this guy uncool.
23:02How are you all?
23:03These are all my friends.
23:04I'm really excited for my friend to meet Henry.
23:06This is Anthony's angels, huh?
23:07This is Anthony's angels, huh?
23:08My friends are so excited that I'm on the show.
23:11They are really, really proud that I've made it this far.
23:14Give me a bit of an insight so I can understand when I see his collection later on about what
23:18his motivation is.
23:19What's he all about?
23:20We see Anthony as this extreme personality because of his dress sense but at the end of the day,
23:26he's the most beautiful, normal person on the inside of the day, and he's the most beautiful,
23:28normal person on the inside of the day.
23:30That's news.
23:31I was adopted when I was nine months old from the Philippines.
23:38I grew up in Canberra and my mother is a fashion lecturer so I've had fashion around me since
23:44I was very young.
23:45How did you look at the age of two and three?
23:47I mean, you know, what, did you come out like this?
23:49No.
23:50This is not...
23:51No, I'm not like this.
23:52You know what I mean?
23:54With like a little quiz.
23:56When I was doing dancing, I had to wear a kilt so I thought when I was about three years old.
24:00Oh, you do dancing?
24:01Yeah, Irish dancing.
24:02I didn't know that you do Irish dancing.
24:03Yeah, Irish dancing.
24:04Do you really?
24:08Growing up, my hobby was Irish dancing.
24:11I competed nationally and internationally.
24:15Irish dancing is definitely my kiki side trying to come out.
24:18You are blushing.
24:19You're not just hot.
24:20Oh, he's good.
24:21Get out of it.
24:22The first time I've seen Anthony become uncool, I love it, I love it.
24:28The next thing is, I mean, this is all nice and fun and games and fluffy and light, but
24:31the bottom line is, here we are at the threshold of one of three designers taking away the top
24:40prize.
24:41What has Anthony got to offer Australia that the other designers do not have?
24:46And I need to know now.
24:48Why is he different?
24:49Um, I just think he's really innovative.
24:52He is influenced by, obviously, his surroundings, but then takes that and is truly innovative
24:59with what he creates.
25:00Yeah.
25:01All these mainstream shops are copying what's happening overseas.
25:04They're not going to need to.
25:05They're going to be looking at his catwalk.
25:07It's just about clothes and just looking this extreme to make a point of difference.
25:17It's who he is from the inside out.
25:20Like he's just, he's a personality.
25:23So the question has to be asked, is Australia ready for Anthony and Project Runway Australia?
25:28Yes or no?
25:29They're ready.
25:30Yes.
25:31The next toaster.
25:32Good luck, Anthony.
25:33Yay.
25:34What are you drinking?
25:36I only have a few weeks left to the finale and I've got so much work to do, but it's
25:47really exciting.
25:48Glad you got to meet my friends.
25:50But now, welcome to my workplace.
25:51I work for a label called Atal.
25:53Yes.
25:54And you'll see my collection upstairs in the workspace.
25:56Let's do it.
25:57This looks incredible up here.
25:59Oh, it's a beautiful space.
26:00This is my debut collection for the fashion industry, so there's a lot of pressure.
26:05I really want to make a great first impression.
26:08So I need to know what Henry thinks because I very much value his opinion.
26:12Look, I'm dying to understand a few of these sketches.
26:15They look really interesting, but you know, explain to me a little bit.
26:18My theme is very much about flowers.
26:20I love roses.
26:21And for me, it's corny, but roses have so many layers and I think that's very much like
26:26me.
26:27The collection, it's just representing me.
26:29It's all about having everything in black and everything being fabulous.
26:34It's all about flowers, layers and contrast.
26:38It's everything that I love.
26:40I'm starting to get the theme.
26:41I get the idea.
26:42I know that the sketches then metamorphosize into the actual outfit.
26:47Just take off those clothes and show me Anthony.
26:49I want to see what it's all about.
26:50Here we go.
26:55My goodness gracious me, have you been busy and creative?
27:01I've been working my ass off.
27:02What are we on about here, man?
27:06That is the most stunning shape I have seen in a skirt in all my life.
27:11I mean this, I mean it.
27:14You've honestly taken my breath away.
27:15That is just poetry in motion.
27:17This is the quintessential classic piece of the collection.
27:21That is your linchpin to your entire story.
27:24Henry had some great feedback for me.
27:26There was aspects which he loved.
27:28That's cool.
27:29It's amazing fabric.
27:31And there was lots of aspects which he was a bit scared by as well.
27:35I know you're really creative, but this is really aggressive.
27:39I totally understand where it's coming from, but I also want to push the envelope.
27:43I just think you've got to be careful.
27:45You don't want to scare people away.
27:47I love the use of your fabrics.
27:48I love the textures.
27:50I love the fact that you've got very dramatic shapes.
27:54What I'm concerned about and what you have to think about is there's so much design in
27:59it.
28:00Don't overdo it and let those items breathe because they're stunning.
28:06Also, if everything's all black, black, black, black, black, black, black, is it not going
28:14to get almost like an overload?
28:15When I look at some of the garments over there, they've got punctuations of this midnight blue.
28:19Yep.
28:20That's stunning.
28:21It really adds a lot of drama.
28:22My mum chose that colour.
28:23Your mum chose the colour?
28:24Yes.
28:25She said to me, oh, I'm scared it's all going to be black.
28:27Girl, listen.
28:28Listen to the voices.
28:29And I do understand.
28:30I was really happy with Henry's feedback and I'm definitely going to be taking on board
28:34what he said.
28:35I just can't wait to see how all this creativity unfolds in front of us on the runway.
28:40I just can't wait.
28:41I do.
28:42There's a lot of work to do, so I'd better let you get on with it.
28:44Thanks for your feedback, Henry.
28:45Take care.
28:46Mwah.
28:47Next, on Project Runway Australia.
28:49He's played it very safe.
28:51That's made stuff kind of tough, but...
28:54I've moved on.
28:56I have an additional surprise.
28:59Oh, shit!
29:03Coming back to Melbourne, I think I'm most anxious about my collection and seeing the
29:16others and seeing how it stacks up against their collection.
29:21I hope that everyone's is really different and no one's crossed over paths.
29:27I think it's finally hitting me that I'm actually in the finale.
29:31There's three of us, only one's going to win, but we actually made it.
29:38So I'm back in Melbourne.
29:44It feels real.
29:45If I can get through this, I can fucking do anything in life.
30:00I had a bit of a...
30:01My father just passed away.
30:11So that's made stuff kind of tough, but...
30:15I've moved on, and I'm here.
30:19My dad, all he ever really wanted for us boys was to be happy.
30:32Didn't care whether we're rich or poor, just to be happy.
30:34And I'd like to win for him, because it's pretty amazing.
30:37It was so exciting to see her, and she looked so good.
30:52She just had this attitude about her confidence, and it's kind of nice to see that she's coming to her own.
31:07I know.
31:08Can you believe I've got collection in here?
31:10I know.
31:11And my wardrobe.
31:15Ah, here we go.
31:18I was the first to arrive at the new apartment in the Docklands.
31:22Wow, it's beautiful.
31:23The first thing I did when I got to the apartment, checked out the view, but then I got the biggest room.
31:34Oh yeah, this is the one.
31:36Love it.
31:37Little man, but I need a big room.
31:40No, we'll just leave it open.
31:42Back again.
31:44Hello.
31:45Hello.
31:46How are you?
31:48Ah, it was really nice.
31:50It was like seeing family again.
31:51Hello.
31:52Wow, we're lucky.
31:53Very good.
31:54Very good.
31:55And there was a lot of squealing, and jumping, and hugging.
31:58I said, ah, I like your sparkle.
32:00It felt so good.
32:01You know, the three of us get along so well.
32:04Well, I think we should have a toast.
32:06Oh, that looks nice.
32:07Go Rosemount.
32:08To go through this whole thing with two people that you'd love,
32:12and you really care about.
32:14It means the world to me.
32:15Toast.
32:16Toast to the final three.
32:17Good luck, guys.
32:18We made it.
32:19We were some really good friends.
32:20Yeah, that's really amazing.
32:21And, um, I can't wait to see your collections.
32:24Oh, neither can I.
32:27Okay.
32:28After a quick champagne toast, we headed to the White House with our collections.
32:34I love it.
32:35Oh my God, we're back in the White House.
32:37Back at the White House.
32:39Here we go.
32:40Ladies first.
32:42Oh, we're back in the White House.
32:44Oh my God.
32:45Walking back into the workroom, I kind of felt a bit ill.
32:48I was like, why am I here again?
32:50But happy to be back as well.
32:53Wow, it's weird, huh?
32:55We've had a lot of highs and lows here, so it's hard not to get emotional.
33:03It's going to be interesting over the next few days.
33:06I've pretty much started my collection again after Henry's visit, so I have quite a few pieces that aren't nearly finished.
33:14I've really got to get sewing.
33:16Oh my God.
33:17What?
33:18I've so nearly used that fabric.
33:19Did you?
33:20There was a lot of eyeballing and seeing what's on their rack and what's happening there and oh, they used that fabric. Interesting.
33:28Black, black, black, black, black, black, black, black, black, black, black, black.
33:32William and Lauren came and checked out my rack and I was more than happy to show it off.
33:36This is beautiful.
33:37Wow.
33:38Insane, Anthony.
33:40That was Henry's favourite piece.
33:41That's beautiful.
33:42Yeah, it's amazing.
33:43They liked it.
33:44They thought it was very, very me.
33:46Thank God.
33:47So, I'm really happy with all my fabrics actually.
33:49They're really good.
33:50The things I love about Anthony's collection is you can really see his signature.
33:56It's amazing.
33:58It's written right through it.
34:00It's quite sophisticated.
34:01Very European.
34:02This is beautiful.
34:03Oh, thank God.
34:04It's got the volume in that.
34:05Yeah.
34:06Probably the one thing I would really love to see him use is colour.
34:09I love this.
34:11Oh.
34:12That's insane.
34:13He's played it very safe, making sure it's all black because if it's all black, it all
34:18goes.
34:19Um, yeah.
34:20Oh, and you've got the, um, the check underneath.
34:24Yeah.
34:25The other designers think I'm just using all black, but I have a little surprise for them.
34:30Wow.
34:31I love these pants.
34:33Ooh.
34:34Beautiful.
34:35They're hot.
34:36Will's colour palette is beautiful.
34:38That's just world to a T.
34:40This one is, yeah.
34:41It's from, um.
34:42That's my love.
34:43Can you make me one?
34:44He has this beautiful pink jersey dress that I just want.
34:48It's so, so pretty.
34:49Beautiful.
34:50Good colours.
34:51Beautiful fabric.
34:52That's amazing.
34:53I'm the only designer that's used a lot of colour.
34:56Like, not even just a little bit.
34:57It's a freaking explosion of colour.
35:00So, I love colour.
35:01I'm not scared of it.
35:02And most people love colour.
35:05So, let's just see what happens.
35:08I'm really happy with what I've done.
35:10It's cowhide, so.
35:11Is it really an orange?
35:13Yeah.
35:14The first thing I spotted on Lauren's rack was this big orange cow.
35:19It's like Fanta orange.
35:21It's so bright.
35:22It's pretty mad.
35:23It's mad.
35:24I like that.
35:25Lauren's collection is very different from what she's done throughout the show.
35:30This is great fabric.
35:31It's got a really hard edge to her, and she's talked about this a lot.
35:35So, this is probably where she'd like to be going.
35:37Ah, you've even got a softer one again.
35:39Yeah.
35:40I've got a few different qualities.
35:41Beautiful.
35:42Oh, that's stunning.
35:43My collection against the other collections.
35:45It's stacking up okay, but I think I'm in for some real tough competition.
35:50Oh, well, at least yours isn't all black.
35:52Yeah, I didn't.
35:53I wanted to have something that wasn't all black.
35:58Hello, everybody.
35:59Hi, Henry.
36:00How are you all doing?
36:02It's four days till the finale.
36:04I have so much work still to do on my collection, and Henry's just popped in.
36:08There was something happening.
36:09Well, I have to say congratulations to all three of you yet again on getting this far.
36:15Now, as you know, there's only a few short days till the finale, and I know how hard you've
36:20been working to get your collections ready for the world to see.
36:24Yeah.
36:25Yeah.
36:26Shit.
36:27This would not be Project Runway unless we threw one more curveball at you.
36:33Shit.
36:34Part of being a designer is pushing the boundaries of your creativity, and sometimes, as you know,
36:40that means adapting to last-minute changes.
36:46So, with that in mind, we have one more challenge for you.
36:51Oh, shit!
36:52Brood.
36:53It's four days to the finale.
36:54I've still got so much to do on my collection, but seeing Henry makes me feel a bit uneasy.
37:08I think he's gonna spring something on us.
37:10Oh, shit!
37:11Oh, shit!
37:12Oh, shit!
37:13Oh, shit!
37:14Oh, shit!
37:15Oh, shit!
37:16Oh, shit!
37:17Oh, shit!
37:18Oh, shit!
37:20Oh, shit!
37:21Oh, shit!
37:22Oh, shit!
37:23Oh, shit!
37:24Oh, my God, there's so much to do, and Henry's about to announce another challenge.
37:28I don't know how long it's gonna take.
37:30I'm a little bit nervous.
37:31nervous. Your challenge is to create a phenomenal party frock. You'll have a
37:37hundred dollars to spend and eight hours to execute your design and tomorrow
37:44night Rosemount is throwing a very special party where you and your party
37:50dresses will be the guest of honor. Having to do a party frock has really
37:57spun me out. I am totally in collection mode so it's hard to think of something
38:01else outside of my collection. So designers you will want your dress to
38:07impress some of the most important people in Australian fashion. People like
38:12Simon Locke. Yes the Simon Locke, Managing Director of IMG Fashion and founder of
38:20Rosemount Australian Fashion Week. The winning design will be featured on
38:2730,000 limited edition Rosemount wine products which ladies and gentlemen
38:33equal massive exposure for one of you. Wow. The challenge is to do a phenomenal
38:40party dress for Rosemount and it's going to be featured on their wine bottles.
38:45It's amazing because it's just something that could really launch your career even
38:49further and takes it into a new avenue. You each want to be the winner of Project
38:54Runway Australia and trust me you will want to be the winner of this challenge as well.
39:00Don't cry Lauren. I'm not crying today. No more awake. So you have not one but two shows to prepare for in just a matter of days. So my advice is get cracking now.
39:12This is so surreal it's like is he really telling us this? I really want to win this challenge Rosemount is a huge sponsor of fashion in Australia and to have your design on bottles around the country would be amazing.
39:22Right off to Rat Downs we go let's go shopping.
39:29Ah Rat Down fabrics here we go. We arrived at Rat Down. Let's go.
39:34Henry gave us $100 and 15 minutes to find our fabric. I actually have no idea what I'm making.
39:39I started with black sequins ended up with this plasticky corally watermelon colour fabric.
39:46She might look like a lolly wrapper. It's going to be a party. So a metre of each of these. I got a gorgeous off-white silk then I'm going to do a great little bustle party dress roll.
39:57I really want to do black for some reason. I actually want to use black. I never use black but I just want to do a beautiful black party dress some kind and if I can find a colour then good.
40:08Alright guys time is up so please pack it up pay for it and let's get going alright? See ya. Thank you. See ya later guys.
40:25Now the challenge. It's challenge day we've got eight hours to make a party frock.
40:29It'd be a nice little boost to win this one before going into the finale. You know just a little affirmation.
40:36Alright. Alright let's go on. Alright guys. We went into the work room, pulled out our fabric.
40:42Wow. Hello colour. And we started draping.
40:47My fabric is quite structural so I'm going to create a bit of volume. Something fluffy and pink.
40:53Alright. This is going to be a lolly. It's going to be soft, floaty, kind of like candy.
40:59I really want to do just a really cute full little rounded skirt.
41:06Oh my god wow it's really gold. Yeah like it's so gold it's really going to pop.
41:11It's so something that you would do. It's very gold the fabric and I think to do the whole dress is going to look a bit odd.
41:17I really like the black. It's nice to be doing something in black. My whole collection is like an explosion of colour.
41:26For my party frock I'm making a little short white dress that's kind of looking like ice cream at the moment.
41:34That's so hot right now.
41:40Hey Henry.
41:41Ah you say hello first. That's a nice little change.
41:44You've got one more hour left until you finish this challenge. So you need your models right?
41:51So are you ready?
41:52Yes.
41:53It's pretty happy that the models came in when they did because an hour left to go. Like you just need to see this outfit on. You need to see a body in it for it to make sense.
42:03I like it. You like? It's very soft and moving.
42:06It was really good to see these here again. I haven't seen her in ages and I've missed her.
42:11I'm getting judged and the prize is going to reach 30,000 people.
42:16Unfortunately my fabulous model Silvana has flown away to New York so I had to replace her.
42:24Yeah, hot.
42:25My new model Ruby, she is like this high. She's 5'11 and a half but she is amazing.
42:32Ooh it's short.
42:33It is short.
42:34Look at her. See how we go.
42:36It was crazy trying to get the dress done and brief the hair and makeup people on what we wanted.
42:42Oh my god. All of our models had our dresses on and I'm like, oh my goodness. They are all so short. Inappropriate.
42:54Designers, the time has come for me to tell you that your time is up.
42:59I think winning this final challenge would definitely pop me out for the finale.
43:03How is the level of excitement?
43:04It's good.
43:05Kai, are you ready to throw down at the party?
43:07Yeah.
43:08Okay, let's go.
43:09I actually worked right down to the last second. I had just finished and I thought, okay.
43:14Really happy with the way it looked.
43:16Off to the party. Love a party.
43:18Beautiful effort.
43:20Little short there Miss Lauren.
43:22Yike.
43:24Britney Spears eat your heart out.
43:26The three of us arrived at the Rosemount Function.
43:39Designer House.
43:41We walked into Designer House. It's absolutely beautiful inside.
43:46There's some pretty big names at this function. The lovely Chaton Boys, Sophie Thorpter and Paula Joy, the editor of Madison Magazine.
44:01It's a lot of fun and Rosemount is a very big player for fashion in Australia.
44:05Good evening and welcome everybody. Welcome, I'm Simon Locke.
44:10Oh my God, Simon Locke is here. The founder of Rosemount Australian Fashion Week. Like, amazing.
44:16It's my great pleasure on behalf of Project Runaway Australia to welcome you all here this evening to this very special event.
44:24I'm going to be helping judge this evening along with some very prestigious judges, which is my great pleasure to introduce.
44:29Fiona Lane, who's the fashion director from Madison. Welcome Fiona.
44:33Kelly Smythe, the celebrity stylist to the stars. Kelly, welcome.
44:38And someone who's no stranger to runways, very famous supermodel and now great Australian designer, Gail Elliott. Welcome, Gail.
44:49I had to stand by our models and then the judges came by.
44:52Hi, I'm Simon. Hi, I'm William.
44:54And they kind of asked us for a little brief on what our inspiration was and how we got the silhouette.
44:58So what was the reason behind your silhouette?
45:00Just something a little fun. I liked the idea of a little black dress, but it's actually a skirt that you can take off too.
45:06So I don't like being limited to one look when you're out.
45:10And I just wanted something really quite strong in this heavy, but with the softness to it and sheerness through.
45:15So all the fabrics you saw, you had to find the fabrics in only 15 minutes, is that right?
45:19Yes. It was really nerve-wracking to be judged by Fiona Lane, Kelly Smythe, Gail Elliott and Simon Locke.
45:26Ah.
45:27Well done.
45:29Fantastic.
45:31Good luck.
45:33Hi, Anthony. How you doing?
45:34The judges came around and I was like, oh my God, Simon Locke is seeing this outfit.
45:39I was a bit nervous.
45:41What were your thoughts here?
45:42I was also designing a party dress, so I really wanted to be outrageous with colour.
45:47I wanted to be coral because I saw this fabric and I thought it was beautiful and stunning.
45:51And I like the metallic fibre of it.
45:53It's actually a silk lens, which I like working with natural fibres.
45:56Great.
45:57Is volume sort of part of your design handwriting?
45:59Yeah, definitely.
46:00Especially interesting silhouettes.
46:02Obviously off the one shoulders is sort of what's happening.
46:05Well, I think it's what's happening at the moment.
46:07So I really wanted to go with that.
46:09And you can create such interesting shape with the fabric.
46:12So I love draping is how I design.
46:14So I really wanted to focus on that fabric.
46:17Simon Locke is a huge player in the fashion industry.
46:20So I really would love to impress him.
46:23And hopefully he'll like what I've done today.
46:25Fantastic.
46:26Well done.
46:28It's lovely to meet you all.
46:29Have a lovely night.
46:30Hi Simon.
46:31Good to see you.
46:32I really want to win Project Runway.
46:34But it would be amazing to win this challenge too.
46:36Tell us all about your thought behind this great dress here.
46:39Okay.
46:40Our brief was create a party frog.
46:41And everyone goes out in little black dresses.
46:43So I thought let's do the opposite and make a little white, gorgeous bustle dress.
46:47Short and fun.
46:48And did you drape this on the mannequin?
46:50Yes.
46:51And so you've got like a silhouette underneath and then all just the draping.
46:55Yeah I draped it on top.
46:56I just want to create something that stood out from the body.
46:58It would be an amazing opportunity to win this challenge being judged by these guys.
47:02And to have your design on bottles all around Australia would be amazing.
47:06Well well done Dolly.
47:07Looks fantastic.
47:08Good luck.
47:09Thanks.
47:10Yeah.
47:11The judges went away and discussed our designs.
47:13We've just wanted a result.
47:14It took forever.
47:15So Anthony with his pink creation with the draping.
47:18What did you guys think of that?
47:19I don't think we've seen it before.
47:20Okay.
47:21But well executed.
47:22It's so beautiful.
47:23But it was.
47:24It's dramatic.
47:25Yeah.
47:26And I think it's a party frog.
47:30William.
47:31Here's a little gold number which he said he would take it off.
47:33Which I find a bit weird.
47:34I can't quite see that.
47:36I think it wasn't quite right.
47:37It's very difficult to wear.
47:38Yes.
47:39I mean I don't think.
47:40But the fabric was quite fabulous.
47:41I mean the way that it's.
47:42Exactly.
47:43And Lauren with her draped creation.
47:48The concept was there.
47:49The wearability was there.
47:50Exactly.
47:51The dress was pretty there.
47:52I think that was the most wearable I think out of every time.
47:59You're not happy with that?
48:00Yes.
48:01We have a winner.
48:06Thank you very much.
48:07We're down to the business end of this evening.
48:10I mean first of all I just want to give a big hearty congratulations to all the contestants
48:15tonight.
48:16Well done guys.
48:19It was really nerve-wracking to see who's going to win and maybe a little bit excited too.
48:23It wasn't easy but we have made a decision.
48:29I was really hoping they'd say my name.
48:31It'd give me such a boost going into the finale.
48:33And the winner this evening.
48:37Please congratulate.
48:40I was so surprised.
48:43Next time on Project Runway Australia.
48:46Model selection is really important.
48:48Would you be happy to wear this as a top?
48:50You can make or break a collection.
48:52Let's try that right on.
48:53If I don't have something that looks good it could actually just ruin the whole collection.
48:56What's this for?
48:57That.
48:58I'm going to be sewing till it goes on the runway.
49:01It's now and ever.
49:02It's either you're going to win or you're going to lose.
49:03I think we're getting close to the end where I can just let go.
49:16Hello everyone.
