00:00Previously on Project Runway Australia
00:03The eliminated contestants, they're back!
00:06The returning designer who has helped with the winning look
00:09will be back in the competition.
00:11I felt sick.
00:13This looks like Big Bird.
00:14Disastrous.
00:16Surprise, surprise.
00:17Yeah!
00:18Claudia sews her finger.
00:19Oh, Jesus.
00:20Why aren't you on the floor?
00:22Kellyanne.
00:23Nah.
00:24I don't think she really gave a damn.
00:30Anthony and Ivana, you are the winners of this challenge.
00:34Ivana, this means that you are back in the competition.
00:37I'm very grateful for that second chance.
00:39Michael, you're out.
00:44The winner of Project Runway Australia will receive a serious small car,
00:48the all-new Holden Cruise CDX,
00:51a six-page fashion spread in Madison Magazine

00:57to design and show their own collection
01:00at the 2010 Rosemount Australian Fashion Week,
01:03courtesy of Rosemount.
01:05This is Project Runway Australia.
01:08Can't buy style.
01:10Break the rules.
01:11The search for Australia's next big fashion designer.
01:14I want to see the passion in your fashion.
01:16Just try to ignore me.
01:18Who will be in?
01:19Who will be out?
01:20I'm in.
01:21They're out.
01:22I don't think so.
01:24For these 12 designers,
01:26Project Runway is the chance of a lifetime.
01:31Thanks for that.
01:36I love it.
01:37Michael is out of the competition.
01:40It's a bit sad because he's actually a really nice guy.
01:44Do you miss him?
01:45You know what I kind of do?
01:47Because no one's fixing my hair.
01:48I know Laura misses him with the hair.
01:50You've replaced Michael.
01:52Mm-hmm.
01:53But I'm so happy when they called out my own.
01:55Oh my God.
01:56I know it's him.
01:57I'm going to jump off the runway.
01:58Being back in the competition,
02:00I will be feeling a lot of pressure
02:02because I have to prove myself to everyone.
02:05I won't blow it this time.
02:07I can't believe we had to move last night.
02:09That was pretty fun.
02:10I know.
02:11It's a bit weird living with the girls now.
02:12They're so noisy in the morning.
02:13Chit chat, chit chat.
02:15We've moved in now with the girls.
02:17We have to share in their apartment.
02:19The girls are a little messy and a little needy.
02:21Cute but noisy.
02:23Our bow bands.
02:26Please.
02:27No, please.
02:37Hello, designers.
02:39Hi, Christy.
02:40Hi, Christy.
02:41Before I tell you about your next challenge,
02:43let's bring out your models.
02:52Models, this is a competition for you too.
02:54The model paired with the winning designer
02:56will get a six-page fashion spread in Madison Magazine.
03:00Anthony, you won the last challenge,
03:02so you get the first pick of the model
03:04that you would like to work with.
03:06Who will it be?
03:07Silvana.
03:14I'm now going to pull out the rest of your names
03:16to determine the order in which you will choose.
03:22Yopi.
03:24Dithia.
03:27Your model's not Dithia.
03:29Dithia's Lauren's model.
03:31She stole my model.
03:33I was pissed off that Yopi stole Dithia.
03:35Dithia.
03:36Bitch.
03:38William.
03:39Naomi.
03:42Lauren.
03:44Yasmin.
03:46Sorry, did I hear the right word?
03:48Cow.
03:51Yopi started it.
03:52Since Yopi started the ball rolling,
03:54I took Mark's model, Yasmin.
03:56He wasn't very happy.
03:57Ivana.
03:58I would pick Sarah.
04:02That means, Mark, your model is now Odna.
04:12Designers, if you think the competition's been tough so far,
04:15think again.
04:17Because you're all about to be tested like never before.
04:21Oh, no.
04:23Good luck.
04:24I'll see you on the runway.
04:26Thanks, Matthew.
04:27Bye.
04:31Welcome back, Ivana.
04:32Hi.
04:50Wakey, wakey.
04:51It's another glamorous day in fashion.
04:53Everybody up.
04:54Henry barged in this morning and woke us up.
05:01Good morning.
05:03It was just all a blur.
05:04The lights, the enthusiasm, it's not what you need at that time of the day.
05:10Henry!
05:11Wake up, darling.
05:12Come on.
05:13What are you doing at this hour?
05:16It was like 5am in the morning and he's prying the doona off my fingers,
05:22trying to get me up and telling me that I've got 30 minutes to get ready.
05:31Yopi.
05:32Oh, my God.
05:34I wouldn't have a 10-minute nap in my room.
05:36We went downstairs and met Henry.
05:39All right, you made it in half an hour without a minute to spare.
05:41Let's go.
05:44We jumped in the cars and we had no idea where we were going.
05:49MCG.
05:50Rod Laver.
05:51Rod Laver.
05:52We think we're going to Rod Laver Arena to see pink.
05:55The markets are just starting to open.
05:57Oh, my goodness.
05:58I reckon we're going to the markets.
05:59Oh, my gosh.
06:01When we finally stopped at the markets, not so good.
06:05I'm a fashion designer.
06:07I'm not here to sell vegetables.
06:10Rude.
06:11Oh, my God.
06:12Where are we?
06:13We're at Victoria Markets.
06:14Come on, let's go.
06:15When we arrived at the markets, we saw that there was lots of vegetables and produce and no pink.
06:20What's that?
06:21Pink and coconut.
06:22Oh, my God.
06:24Fruit and vegetables?
06:26I would like a big banana.
06:28This is so weird.
06:29We're walking along Victoria Markets and there's fruit and vegetables.
06:33We're thinking, what's going on?
06:39Designers, welcome to Queen Victoria Markets.
06:42Thanks, Henry.
06:43One of Melbourne's most popular institutions.
06:46You're probably wondering why I brought you here at this ungodly hour on this very chilly morning.
06:53Well, designers, look around.
06:57Oh, my God.
06:59Oh, my God.
07:00You know what this means?
07:01There's just colours, fruit and veggies, and I'm freaking out.
07:08These markets are best known for their huge variety of fresh produce.
07:13In fact, all the things you'll need for your next challenge.
07:20Oh, my God.
07:23Pink leaves come out now.
07:25I do like my veggies, but I don't think I would ever make an outfit out of them.
07:30For your challenge, you must each create an outfit using the food you buy here and the packaging it comes in.
07:39I've made a lot of things out of food before, but I've eaten them.
07:43You should never wear them.
07:45This challenge is all about finding out how versatile and innovative you are as designers.
07:52And it will also test your time management.
07:57Because for this challenge, you will have just ten hours.
08:03Ten hours to do the challenge.
08:05I was shit scared.
08:08Designers.
08:09Think of some amazing designers that use materials in a way that's surprising to how they normally use.
08:15Like Alexander McQueen, Vivian Westwood.
08:18So take these materials and use them in a way that no one would dream of seeing them on a runway.
08:24For this challenge, you're going to get 30 minutes and $100 to purchase your produce.
08:32So I hope you're ready because your time starts now.
08:38Henry said go and we started running.
08:45We're allowed to use this bag, I think.
08:46Yeah, you can use the bag.
08:47It's no problem.
08:48Henry said we're allowed to use our shopping bag as part of the outfit.
08:53So we have $100 and 30 minutes and I immediately thought I want to do things with pulses and lentils to make it look like beading and quite textural and a bit tribal perhaps.
09:05I have to make an outfit out of food.
09:07I've got quail eggs because I wanted to make some jewellery and the texture on them was beautiful.
09:14Running around the markets, I was looking at all the fruit and vegetables and saw some crunched up onion skins on the ground and was thinking, that's really interesting.
09:22I'm making an onion dress, I think.
09:25So I bought a box of onions.
09:27So that's $3.50 for these.
09:29My plan of attack was to definitely go for something which no one else wanted to use.
09:34I started with a beetroot and started looking for other things to match tonally.
09:40I'm done.
09:43I want parsley.
09:45Who do we buy parsley from?
09:46Apart from leafy greens, which I wanted, I thought about getting tea bags and for some reason I wanted to buy some eggs.
09:55Um, yes please.
09:57I have no idea what I'm going to do with eggs.
09:59They're a great colour.
10:01Maybe I'll crush them and use them as sequins.
10:05I don't know what I'm doing though.
10:07I don't know what I'm making.
10:09I have no idea what I'm doing.
10:12Yeah, hey!
10:13I had a look around and I saw these cabbage leaves which could really, really work.
10:18Okay, awesome.
10:19Then I'm going to need probably ten.
10:21Ten units?
10:23Yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:26Well, sorry.
10:28Are you alright?
10:29Yep, I need all your cabbage.
10:32So I bought all the cabbage that they had.
10:36Okay.
10:38I see this gorgeous citrus Buddha hand.
10:42I had to buy it.
10:44I'll get two of these.
10:45Radicchio.
10:46Well, radicchio, yeah.
10:48Nice burgundy colours.
10:50Had to get that.
10:52How much are your pumpkin?
10:54Had to get pumpkin.
10:55Because I love the smell of freshly cupped pumpkin.
10:58What am I going to do with it?
10:59I don't know.
11:01Can you give me a discount if I buy three?
11:03No.
11:04At this point, I'm thinking of purple and yellow tones.
11:10Carrie Bradshaw, you know, with a big choker.
11:13I spent all my money.
11:15Alright guys, time's up.
11:17Your time is up.
11:19My bags are so heavy.
11:21I bought so much stuff.
11:23I've even got a pumpkin.
11:24Back to the work room.
11:25Let's go.
11:33When I walked back into the White House with all my food, I was just thinking, man, what the hell am I going to make out of vegetables?
11:40The real trick to this challenge is creating something that looks like a garment that somebody would actually want to buy and wear and not just some crazy-ass costume that has spuds on it.
11:53Now that there's only six of us left, there is a lot of competition in the air.
11:59This is the time for me to prove myself.
12:03It's just a bit of that extra stress on top of the whole challenge.
12:07Oh no!
12:09My $5 worth of cherries are all squashed!
12:13My ultimate goal is to be a household name.
12:16I want to have my name out there and be known as an Australian designer.
12:23I'm hoping this week I can step up because I really need to get through this challenge.
12:28All right, designers.
12:31Hello.
12:32Hi, Henry.
12:33Just to remind you, your challenge is to create a really innovative design out of the produce that you found at Queen Victoria Markets.
12:41You've got till 8.30 tonight.
12:43That means you've got 10 hours to complete this challenge.
12:47Good luck and get cooking.
12:49Bye.
12:51Next, on Project Runway Australia.
12:56It's so vile.
12:58Our challenge was to make an innovative design using the food and vegetables from everything in the markets.
13:15I don't know what I'm making. I've got this, I focus on this colour.
13:18My outfit today is definitely going to be a work in progress.
13:21My strategy is to prepare all the food, like I'm going to cook it, and then see what I can do with it.
13:28Great texture.
13:29I know, but yeah, the texture is what I went for.
13:30What is that?
13:31It's not lettuce.
13:32It's cabbage.
13:33I'm going to use cabbage as my main produce, maybe in a couple of different colours.
13:37Oh my god, this is the Lacroix.
13:39Look at the colours.
13:40It is Lacroix, yeah.
13:41It's Lacroix, sweetie.
13:42It's rainbow colours.
13:43My main concern on this challenge is that my leaves could just wilt and then I won't have an outfit tomorrow.
13:51My vision is to make a hot little onion dress.
13:54I've got some heavy artillery gear on so I don't turn into a sobbing mess over my onion dress.
14:00I'm peeling onion number 20, peeling onion number 25.
14:06I'm not having much fun.
14:08Peeling onion number 35 and there's still more.
14:11Oh, it works.
14:18I did it in high school.
14:20Oh, that's vile.
14:22I've got quail eggs so I had to poke a hole in either end and break the yolk and blow it out.
14:28It's so vile.
14:42Are you blowing the eggs?
14:43Yeah.
14:44I've got to blow something.
14:45I've been locked up in the house for a month.
14:48My first problem while making the cabbage dress was when I tried to sew the leaves together on the sewing machine.
15:00This is scary.
15:01The stitches were just ripping the leaves apart.
15:03What else could I do this, Lauren?
15:04What do you think?
15:05What can I do it with?
15:06I don't know.
15:07Yeah.
15:08That's probably thicker than mine though.
15:11Some of the onions sewed together really well and it looked beautiful.
15:15But then I found that half the onion skins that I'd peeled, the outer layers, were really crunchy and they were just breaking as I was sewing them.
15:21So I was having a few problems there.
15:25I'm hoping that I can make a lace top out of my pumpkin in the same shape as the pattern on the Enviro bag.
15:36With artichoke petals as shorts.
15:40What are you trying to sew, Yoki?
15:42Artichoke.
15:43My artichoke petals?
15:46Well, they're not sewing in the machine.
15:49I've stapled them.
15:50Come on in.
15:52They're not stapling either.
15:54I've glued them.
15:55They're not gluing either.
15:58I want my mum.
16:01I'm screwed.
16:02What are they?
16:04Artichokes.
16:05What?
16:06Artichoke.
16:08I'll check you in a minute, bitch.
16:10Talk to me like that.
16:13It's working.
16:14That looks awesome.
16:15The main structure on my garment is calico.
16:17I'm printing mine and going to put all the legumes and stuff to make it look like it's beaded and then make it look very edgy.
16:25My concept for my dress was really beautiful, lots of detail in the bodice and something different that no one else would be doing so I wanted mine to be really unique.
16:35Why hello there my veritable vegetables.
16:38Hi Henry.
16:39At the moment, you are in need of your models, right?
16:42Yes.
16:43Okay, great.
16:44I'm going to send them in and you're going to have 30 minutes to do whatever you do to make this work for you.
16:49So you ready for it?
16:50Yes.
16:51Good.
16:52Hi.
16:53How are you?
16:54Nice to see you.
16:55What's this?
16:56All these onions.
16:57It was a bit strange when the models came in.
16:59I was expecting Dithia to run up to me but it was Yasmin instead.
17:02Still angry at Yopi.
17:04She's still complaining.
17:06Lauren's talking about me stealing my models again.
17:09Build bridge, get over it.
17:11That's the perfect size.
17:13I've got a little skirt base for Odna to try on.
17:17It's just a matter of coordinating everything so it doesn't look too sort of patchy, patchy, patchy.
17:23I'm going to put the calico top on her as well.
17:26That's covered in bits and pieces, flattering on the female form.
17:31A little bit concerned at the moment but it'll all be good.
17:35It'll look very beautiful on the runway as per usual.
17:40Big accessories are in.
17:42The bigger the better.
17:44Alright guys, have you utilised your time with the models?
17:47Yeah.
17:48Great.
17:49Time's up with the models.
17:50Thank you very much.
17:51Air kisses and out we go from the fruit salad.
17:53Please everybody.
17:54Chop chop.
17:55See you later.
17:56See you tomorrow.
17:57How are you feeling being back?
18:04Is it you excited or is it like oh my god the pressure's on?
18:07No, I feel like I'm super excited but I'm a bit scared because like all of you guys have been doing stuff in the meanwhile.
18:14I think Ivana definitely wants to prove herself in this challenge because she's back in the competition and she wants to prove why she's here.
18:21Scary stuff.
18:23I think the rest of us are a bit concerned with what Ivana's capabilities are because we haven't seen her stuff in a long time.
18:31So I think how she goes this week will really let us know whether she is a true contender to take out the big prize.
18:43Hello there designers.
18:44How are we?
18:45Hello Henry.
18:46You know when I step into the work room it means only one good thing for you guys.
18:51I'm coming around to have a look at your work.
18:53Henry walked in to give us our critique.
18:55I was pretty excited to see what he thought of all our work.
18:58Hi Lauren.
18:59Hi Henry.
19:00How are you?
19:01Good thank you.
19:02You know your dress makes me cry.
19:03I know it makes me cry too.
19:05What's the plan?
19:06What I've done is I've taken the onion peel and I've made that into a fabric that has this incredible texture on it.
19:11And I've left the threads loose just to create that messy look which I think is a bit fresh if it was just neat.
19:17And what I'm going to do is just create a very little, it's a little party dress.
19:21I'll tell you what I'm feeling and it's really quite clear.
19:24What I'm feeling is that I'm seeing a designer emerge in front of me.
19:32I'm actually seeing your signature coming through stronger and stronger every week.
19:40And what I love about what you just said to me is I took what you would never think to use.
19:45And you took onion peels for goodness sake and you've turned it into fabric.
19:50Mmm.
19:51That has to get high marks.
19:52I think that's amazing.
19:55Such a relief.
19:56Onions, who makes a dress out of onions?
19:58And for that to be working and Henry to comment that it is was a really good thing to hear.
20:04Hey Yopi, where are you?
20:05Hi Henry.
20:06I can't see you for the brood.
20:07Oh hello babe, how are you?
20:08What have we got here?
20:09I know you're stitching against the thyme.
20:11Yep.
20:12I'm making a little pair of shorts, a little play suit.
20:15Oh.
20:16This is going to be totally covered with the artichoke leaves and I've sculpted some pumpkin.
20:23So I'm going to place them throughout the hole all the way up the shoulders.
20:27Okay.
20:28Have you done all your cut outs?
20:30No.
20:32I know.
20:34Time management?
20:35I know.
20:36Always a Yopi.
20:37It's always a Yopi thing.
20:38I know.
20:40Yeah.
20:42Okay we've established that so look this is what I think.
20:45Pants and a top.
20:47Very ambitious.
20:48Henry didn't think I'll have enough time.
20:52I think you need to stand back, work out how much more you've got to do,
20:56and start compromising with the concept a little bit.
20:58Yep.
20:59Does that make sense to you?
21:00Yes it does.
21:03Good luck.
21:04Okay.
21:06Thanks Henry.
21:07I started to freak out that perhaps I have bitten more than I can chew.
21:13Hey Ivana.
21:14Hello.
21:15How are you baby?
21:16Hello.
21:17Alright tell me about your lady and don't hold back.
21:20Okay so it's a rainbow silver bit.
21:23Yes.
21:24Just the root bit.
21:25Yes.
21:26And it's all sewn together so that's creating a bodice.
21:28This part this is all cabbage in a fabulous purple colour which I managed to find.
21:33Yes.
21:34So all that I'm thinking is just to maybe liven it up a bit.
21:37Yes.
21:38I might be using green.
21:39Okay.
21:40For underneath.
21:41Yes.
21:42For the lower layer.
21:43And how long are you taking it?
21:45Um, I want to go like that.
21:48I love the fact that your personality and a signature and a style even though you're using
21:53vegetables is coming out on this dress.
21:56It's a serious challenge.
21:57Yeah.
21:58My point of view is if you're going to do that have more attitude with this.
22:02I was expecting him to say something negative about my outfit but it actually wasn't that
22:08negative.
22:09He just gave me some advice on the length, the approach and everything so that was pretty
22:14nice.
22:15Good luck.
22:18Good luck.
22:21Hey Mark how are you?
22:22Good thanks Henry.
22:23What's the secret?
22:24Spinach.
22:25Popeye eh?
22:26Yep.
22:27Tell me what you're creating first of all.
22:29It looks interesting, it looks colourful and it looks creative.
22:32Yep.
22:33So we have a little top here that'll have a crossover back.
22:35I've just given him a vague explanation.
22:37I've stuck lots of pumpkin seeds onto the yolk piece but that's still drying on the table
22:44and the bodice is also flat on the table so he doesn't have much to look at in three dimensions
22:50just yet.
22:51I think that you've got innovation, you've got different materials.
23:01We don't want the judges to say it's obvious that you've just used an easy material.
23:06What I'm concerned about is that there's not enough produce on the packaging.
23:13I could see where Henry was coming from.
23:15It's a fruit and veg challenge but you know it was also mentioned that packaging could be
23:21part of it so I'm in two minds as to how the judges might take what I've done.
23:26Oh goodness.
23:29Next on Project Runway Australia.
23:32Blower.
23:33Don't.
23:34Don't.
23:35He freaked.
23:36I always had so much fucking work to do.
23:38I think the vegetables are really getting to him.
23:40So designers you have three hours left to complete the whole look that we've got for your challenge
23:53so I'm going to leave you all to it.
23:54Good luck okay?
23:55Thanks Henry.
23:59The hours are going by and I'm actually freaking out about my pumpkin.
24:04Freaking hell.
24:05About what?
24:06I just broke my pumpkin light.
24:08I've stitched them over and over again and they keep breaking.
24:12I can't believe I snapped my pumpkin lace.
24:15Yopi is definitely creating a Halloween outfit with her pumpkin lace.
24:18I am a bit scared but not in a Halloween way.
24:21I think it's just going to be a bit wrong.
24:23Oh can I eat your cherry?
24:25Oh honey.
24:26I think she's not a cherry anymore.
24:32You guys are so wrong.
24:34As the hours go by Mark's getting even more quiet and he's being a bit snappy so I think the vegetables are really getting to him.
24:44Who's got so much fucking work to do?
24:47That's all.
24:49It's not finished.
24:50I went over to see Mark and have a chat and looking at his outfit.
24:55Oh so you've covered up the whole writing thing.
25:00Oh thanks for that.
25:01And then I went to look at the back of something but I didn't realise it wasn't dried and I had flicked his tea leaves all over the glued bits of everything else.
25:08Don't.
25:09But it'll blow up won't it?
25:10Don't.
25:11Don't.
25:12No cause it's actually stuck to the glue.
25:15He freaked.
25:16Just move away.
25:17Back away.
25:18Ya mother fucker.
25:20Mark's design not my cup of tea.
25:22Not flattering.
25:23I don't think he wants to go home with making a carrot dress.
25:30Half an hour.
25:31Come on.
25:32Survive.
25:33Half an hour to go and I finally got the courage to actually lift my bodice up and put it on the dummy.
25:45I asked William what he thought.
25:47Yeah.
25:48Set it upside down.
25:49I don't know.
25:50It's just fucking ugly.
25:53I can't even really look at it cause my eyes are so tired.
25:56My eyes are starting to do this.
25:58But it could be your top.
26:00Not very positive.
26:03I'll sleep on it and see if it looks any better in the morning.
26:09Guys.
26:10It's time.
26:11We've got to stop.
26:12We've got to take our boxes down to the fridge.
26:14Down to the cool room.
26:15Cool room.
26:16Ready?
26:17Let's go.
26:18Ten hours is up.
26:19Challenge is over.
26:20And I never want to see or smell another onion again.
26:25Walking out of the work room, I'm freaking flustered.
26:29I hate this challenge.
26:34Thank God that we have the cool room which is a huge fridge where we can conserve our outfits for tomorrow and hopefully by tomorrow I'll still have an outfit.
26:44Good work guys.
26:45It's vegetable runway day and I'm very excited cause I think it's going to be amazing.
26:58Yeah.
26:59Do you like the outfit?
27:00Yeah.
27:01This is the only challenge where I've actually thought I might be going home today.
27:06Come on guys.
27:07What's taking me so long?
27:11We're back at the White House and surprisingly I'm happy that my silver beak hasn't curled up and everything still looks really good.
27:29So you're obviously under a bit of pressure.
27:32Yes.
27:33I am.
27:34There's a lot of things to finish off.
27:35I still have to sew the bodice on, give some length to the skirt and finish off the top.
27:42I'm happy that my outfit hasn't wilted too much but my artichoke petals has browned.
27:52Hello my tomato cherry terribs.
27:54How are you?
27:55Are you alright?
27:56I just want to remind you now that you've got two hours to get your models organised so it's off to the Tresemme Salon and also Max Factor.
28:05I want you to take a real advantage of Gregory Ladner.
28:07We've met him previously.
28:08He's got great accessories and of course Andrea and Yohan who've got some stunning shoes over at the wall.
28:14Are you ready for your models?
28:15Yes.
28:16So am I.
28:17Let's bring a knee.
28:18Fantastic.
28:19Hi.
28:20First of all.
28:21The skirt's quite heavy.
28:22What I've done, I've got little straps.
28:24Okay.
28:25Do I have the pants?
28:26Yes.
28:27Okay.
28:28The models finally come in and I got to try it all on Naomi.
28:32You're actually surprised how it turned out.
28:34Thank God it looks okay and it fits well and it's just fun.
28:37Are you just going to a party?
28:38I didn't really take it too seriously because it's food.
28:41I'm happy with it.
28:43Okay, that's good.
28:44I'm going to sell.
28:45Lauren's dress too with that.
28:46Yeah, I quite like that.
28:47Yeah.
28:48Kind of like springy.
28:49It's very pretty.
28:50Lauren's design is pretty amazing considering she's working with something as fragile as onion skins.
28:56I'm so cold.
28:59I think I can definitely see my little onion dress out on the town.
29:02If you can put up with the smell, you're welcome to have my onion dress.
29:07Based on Sarah Jessica Parker because she's really fun.
29:10We actually start with a plait.
29:13More texture than that?
29:15A bit more.
29:16Okay.
29:17You look gorgeous.
29:18Oh, you have carrots.
29:19I have carrots too.
29:20Shimmery?
29:21Yeah.
29:22Yeah.
29:23Cultured face.
29:24Yeah, sculptured.
29:25Thanks Max.
29:26I love it.
29:27Hey designers, you've got 10 minutes so please make the most of it.
29:42Okay.
29:4410 minutes to go and I'm dressing Odna.
29:47I like it.
29:48I'm still happy with the skirt.
29:50The top I'm not so sure about.
29:52And you don't have to do anything except for that.
29:55It would be pretty fabulous to win this challenge.
29:58Hopefully that will make the other designers take me seriously again.
30:02I love the hat.
30:03Can I borrow it after?
30:0510 minutes left and I'm half finished.
30:10Not up to my standard.
30:12I'm not going to do such a complicated design again.
30:16Next.
30:17Ooh, sorry.
30:18Jopie said that her outfit was for Sarah Jessica Parker.
30:22No, honey, it's not.
30:24It's for a homeless person to eat.
30:27Alright designers, your time is up.
30:31Leaving the work room and heading to the runway, I'm feeling calm.
30:37Hopefully the judges will like mine more than parks.
30:40So off to the runway with us.
30:44Next, on Project Runway Australia.
30:47For me it looks like she's off to sell vegetables.
30:50She kind of looks a little bit, take me to your leader.
30:54Ugly really doesn't sell.
30:56Hello designers.
31:02Hi Christy.
31:03Welcome to the runway.
31:06As you know in fashion, one day you're in, the next day you're out.
31:10This week saw you take a fresh approach to fashion.
31:15When Henry took you to Melbourne's famous Queen Victoria markets.
31:19Where things you normally cook and eat, became things you cut and sew.
31:23This week, food literally became fashion.
31:28When you had to use fresh produce from the markets and the packaging it came in.
31:33To create an outfit that's as wearable as it is tasteful.
31:37This challenge was all about finding out just how innovative and versatile you are as designers.
31:43And testing your creativity like never before.
31:48With just six of you left, we're now at the business end of the competition.
31:53And it should come as no surprise that now more than ever we are hungry for winning designs.
32:00Now let's meet the judges.
32:02First up we have fashion buyer extraordinaire, Sarah Gale.
32:06Hi everyone.
32:07Hi Sarah.
32:08Next, filling in for Jason Brunston this week, is designer and celebrity stylist, Alex Zabotto-Bentley.
32:14Hey guys.
32:15Hi Alex.
32:16And our guest judge this week, renowned Australian designer, Bettina Liano.
32:21Hello everyone.
32:22Hi Bettina.
32:23Hi Bettina.
32:24They will decide if you have what it takes to make the cut.
32:27We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
32:31The designer with the highest score will be the winner.
32:34And one of you will be out.
32:37Let the show begin.
32:43I was like, oh it's beautiful.
32:45It's a hot beetroot dress if there ever was one.
32:53There's nothing I'll change about my outfit.
32:56I just hope it doesn't fall apart.
32:57I really was happy with the overlook of Naomi.
33:10It was kind of fun.
33:12The hat, the little penny dress.
33:16I was happy in the end.
33:17I'm so proud because I actually made vegetable look like a dress.
33:33I think my design stands out a little bit more than the other designers.
33:43Because it does have that wow factor.
33:46Considering the state that I've been in, I'm proud that I've got something looking that
33:59good up on the catwalk today.
34:01I mean, the skirt's amazing and I think it works as well as a contrast to the top.
34:16I think my design is quite innovative.
34:19I turned my vegetable into something more than just a vegetable.
34:24I mean, it's not everyday that you see a top made out of pumpkin lace.
34:30I think I've really answered the brief.
34:43I've created a wearable, innovative, gorgeous design that could be worn if it wasn't made
34:48from onions.
34:51I could have a wedding design on my hands.
35:01We've scored your designs.
35:03Now we'd like to talk to all of you.
35:06Let's bring out your models.
35:20I'd like to start with Ivana.
35:22It's cabbage.
35:23It's cabbage.
35:24Bettina, what do you think of Ivana's design?
35:27The texture of the vegetables that you've chosen, they actually look like fabric.
35:32It actually looks tailored.
35:34It looks very evolved.
35:35It actually follows the contour of the shape of the body.
35:39I've never seen someone drape cabbage before.
35:42So the bottom skirt, is that stitched to anything or is that just free floor of leaves?
35:47It goes from here and then it evolves onto leaf onto leaf.
35:50It goes one onto another.
35:52I think you've taken a great risk doing that.
35:54She looks feminine and she looks sexy in vegetables.
35:57And for vegetables it moves really well.
36:00Sarah, what did you think of Mark's design?
36:05I understand the skirt, but I don't understand that square top.
36:11For me it looks like she's off to sell vegetables.
36:14It's supposed to look like fabric made of food, but the top looks like cardboard.
36:20It sort of doesn't relate to produce.
36:22I was trying to create a fabric really and I like the idea of the stripe.
36:27An outfit should look like something that is wearable.
36:30Yeah.
36:31And I feel that she kind of looks a little bit, take me to your leader.
36:35As opposed to, you know, I'm here to enjoy a cocktail.
36:39It's very heavy up top and down bottom.
36:41And I think ultimately we still want the model to look pretty.
36:45Ugly really doesn't sell.
36:48Alex, what did you think of Yopi's design?
36:51At first I thought it was very Josephine Baker, 1920s.
36:55But then the more I looked at her, the more I thought she was more sort of pebbles and bam bam.
37:00I also feel that it's kind of rushed.
37:03To me it just doesn't look finished.
37:05If you turn on the side this way, do you see where we've got gaps there?
37:09It just gives that look that it's not finished.
37:11Did you have time issues?
37:13I had problems with the artichokes.
37:15I ended up having to hand sew each petal.
37:17I think it's got a good use of colour.
37:20And I don't mind the arrangement.
37:24I like the idea of the artichokes.
37:26Texture wise, it kind of looks almost like scales or something.
37:29And I love the colour choice with the radicchio.
37:31It just looks like you ran out of time.
37:33Okay.
37:35Lauren, I love your use of the onions.
37:38Does it smell?
37:39Slightly.
37:41Alex, what are your thoughts?
37:43The silhouette is fantastic.
37:45And I just think that the treatment, all the detail, all the time spent
37:49on sewing the onion onto it has really paid off.
37:53It reminds me of a beautiful pile of autumn leaves.
37:55Leaves.
37:56You actually want to wear it, don't you?
37:57Yeah.
37:58You've certainly created a silhouette that's wearable.
38:01And it looks like a dress.
38:03And you've added then the 80s shoulder pads.
38:05And so it's brought it into the now and it's given it the oomph.
38:09How many onions would be in there?
38:1159.
38:12Oh my goodness.
38:13I counted them.
38:14You counted them.
38:15Oh my gosh.
38:18Alex, do you think William's design hit the mark?
38:20Mmm.
38:21What's on the bodice?
38:22So there's split pea, lentils, dark yellow.
38:26And then I've printed it with beetroot and then cut it out to look a bit crocheted.
38:31And that is the calico bag as the base.
38:35I think the bottom of the skirt is fantastic.
38:37I think the accessories are great.
38:39Then when the little triangles start to happen, it starts to become actual food.
38:44It should have been much more produce turned into fabric.
38:48I keep thinking primary school because I must admit my kids have brought home a lot of pasta frames and lentil things.
38:55I think you took a bit of a safe option.
38:59I don't think I look at it as a safe option because the amount of work that went in.
39:03Is that bread on her head?
39:04Yes.
39:05A little Rastafari cap and quirling bracelets and corn.
39:08I'd like to actually keep the necklace and the bracelet because I think that's great.
39:13I'll have the hat.
39:16Anthony.
39:17Sarah, is this something that you could see translating obviously using different materials to the commercial market?
39:23I could.
39:24The thing that I would change would be the bulk in front.
39:27If anything, I would have liked to have seen that bulk in the back as like a bustle.
39:31And it would be a little bit more flattering.
39:33Is that a grape bracelet?
39:34It is.
39:35Sylvana got a bit hungry, so there's a few less.
39:39What do you think, Bettina?
39:40I think it has to have some sort of functionality to it.
39:43And this is going to die in half an hour, but I could reproduce that in fabric.
39:48You know, for me, that's a good design.
39:50Almost like a couture dress.
39:52You've actually used the entire Victoria Market as your haberdashery store to find this one beautiful rich colour and it works.
39:59We've heard what you've had to say.
40:04We're now going to have a chat and I'll call you all back.
40:10You can leave the runway.
40:11Okay guys, let's start with the ones that we've really liked.
40:25How about Evanas?
40:28Elements separately all worked by themselves and then together it just made a fabulous outfit.
40:34I didn't like the bodice at all.
40:36Didn't like the bodice?
40:37At all.
40:38No, I thought it cheapened it.
40:39Really?
40:40The more I think about it, the more I can't believe it was cabbage.
40:43The dress was just so well tailored.
40:46Ivana turned cabbage into fabric.
40:49I think she understood drape and to me that was the success of her garment.
40:54How about Laurence?
40:58I could open any international collection magazine and see that girl in that kind of silhouette staring backstage at a show.
41:07Yes, absolutely.
41:08100% it's so now.
41:09Like, nailed.
41:10And she's done it out of onions.
41:13Out of onions.
41:14She pulled it off by just paring it back and not overdoing her garment.
41:19The major problem I had with Laurence, albeit a really beautiful silhouette, is I felt it was a slightly safe option.
41:27Anthony's was another one that we liked.
41:29It was kind of like delectable.
41:31Like, it was just so, like, oh, so rich.
41:33It was rich.
41:34Really rich and elegant.
41:36And it was beetroot, let's face it.
41:38Really not the most elegant vegetable.
41:41He showed every facet of the colour though.
41:44In terms of colour matching, it was just incredible.
41:48I did have a problem with too much in the front, but on the whole it was pretty amazing.
41:57Now let's talk about the ones that we think didn't quite hit the brief marks.
42:02To put that shape on a girl.
42:04There's no excuse.
42:05Shocking.
42:06Ugly doesn't sell.
42:07No.
42:08It just looked like a costume.
42:09And I don't even know what kind of costume.
42:11It was kind of Bolshevik, kind of Martian.
42:14In trying to put all these different things on the fabric, he forgot about the design.
42:19We don't want a bag lady.
42:20We want fashion.
42:21I'm not quite sure where his head was.
42:26Let's talk about Yopies.
42:27The bottom was one thing.
42:28The middle was another.
42:30And then the top was another.
42:32And none of them gelled together.
42:34It looked unfinished.
42:35It did.
42:36It looked crafty.
42:37It just, oof.
42:38There was great work in certain pieces.
42:40Yeah.
42:41But as a whole it really just didn't work.
42:42Yeah.
42:43It just didn't have any movement.
42:45And it wasn't particularly great design.
42:47I think she had a time issue.
42:49Definitely.
42:50It looks rushed.
42:52How about William?
42:54It was all Calico.
42:55It was a Calico dress.
42:57With bits and pieces.
42:58And with potato print.
42:59It was like one giant food platter.
43:02You'd lay that on a picnic table.
43:04Yeah.
43:05And everyone go for it.
43:06He's got every food group.
43:07Yeah.
43:08He just had like a T-bone over the shoulder and then done.
43:10He made a necklace and a bracelet that were beautiful.
43:14Yeah.
43:15Unfortunately I thought that they were from the accessories wall.
43:21So we've made our decision.
43:22Yeah.
43:23Absolutely.
43:24All agreed.
43:25It's tough.
43:26Yep.
43:27Let's bring them out.
43:31One of you will be named the winner.
43:36And one of you will be out.
43:44Anthony.
43:45You're in.
43:46You can leave the runway.
43:47You're in.
43:48You can leave the runway.
43:51You will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
44:02Anthony, you're in.
44:07You can leave the runway.
44:16And now, for the winner of this challenge.
44:22Congratulations to...
44:29Ivana.
44:32You are the winner of this challenge.
44:34Thank you so much.
44:35Well done.
44:36You can leave the runway.
44:42Winning this challenge feels absolutely amazing.
44:46I won the challenge.
44:48Oh, wow.
44:49I slowly told Lauren had it.
44:51That's exciting.
44:52That's really exciting.
44:53Oh, my God.
44:54I think I might have just cemented myself as a threat in this competition.
45:01Lauren, you're in.
45:06You're done.
45:07You can leave the runway.
45:19William.
45:23You're in.
45:25You can leave the runway.
45:27Yopi, Mark, one of you will be out.
45:44Yopi, we expected a visual feast, but what you served up was a disjointed design lacking
45:54in vision.
45:57The finished product looked anything but finished.
46:01And your workmanship was below standard.
46:06Mark, what you produced was unflattering and unfashionable.
46:12And made your model look like a bag lady.
46:15The overall design lacked innovation and didn't meet the brief of a wearable, tasteful outfit.
46:22Yopi, you're out.
46:35That means, Mark, you're in.
46:37You can leave the runway.
46:38I do.
46:39Bye.
46:40Thank you so much.
46:41I've had fun.
46:42It's been fantastic.
46:43Goodbye, darling.
46:44Good luck.
46:46Bye.
46:47Bye.
46:48Bye.
46:49I am so proud of myself that I got to challenge seven.
47:06I have met some great designers and being surrounded with artistic, innovative and passionate people.
47:20I'm going to miss them.
47:21Look what I am wearing in respect and in honour of Yopi.
47:26You're really an amazing talent.
47:28And I believe that Project Runway Australia has given you a level of confidence.
47:35And I expect to be seeing things from you because you're amazing.
47:38Okay, so you'll need to go back to the workroom, pack your things and leave.
47:44All right.
47:45And we're going to miss you a lot.
47:47Coming to this competition wasn't just for me.
47:49It was for my mum as well because she loves fashion.
47:52And we have so much in common.
47:55So, yeah, I think it will be a mother and daughter project.
47:59So, this won't be the last of me.
48:06I'm on Project Runway Australia.
48:09Each of you must create three ready-to-wear outfits.
48:14I was thinking crap.
48:16I've called in some reinforcements.
48:18You must each choose three White House students to form your design team for this challenge.
48:24I'm hoping they can so have a little group hug.
48:27There's nothing here that's really good to work with.
48:30Is that so pink?
48:32No.
48:33This is absolutely crazy.
48:36This could kill our designs.
48:39I'm a bit lost on a couple of your pieces, to be honest.
48:42She looks like Judy Jetson.
48:44It's a bit of a clunker.
48:46Lots of excuses.
