00:00Previously on Project Runway Canada.
00:03Let's start with you, Megan.
00:05Who would you say it's your opposite?
00:06Carly, just because she's like the strong silent type.
00:08The two of you are partners.
00:11Shanette, don't think we left you out.
00:14Do you want to be here?
00:15Yes, I want to.
00:16And she's back at the house.
00:20Carly is amazing.
00:22If she went instead of Megan, a lot of people are going to be mad.
00:27Lucien, you are the winner of this challenge.
00:29Carly, what were you thinking about the ruching on the bum?
00:32It's just calling for a complete redo.
00:35Carly, you just don't measure up.
00:40The winner of Project Runway Canada will receive
00:43a cover and a feature spread in Elle Canada magazine,
00:46a professional portfolio photo shoot courtesy of L'Oréal Paris,
00:50a retail mentorship with winners,
00:52and $100,000 to start their own fashion line.
00:56The winner of Project Runway Canada is the winner of Project Runway Canada.
01:00The search for the hottest new fashion designer.
01:11Twelve designers will compete.
01:12Three will make it to L'Oréal Fashion Week.
01:25But only one will rule the runway,
01:27and win everything they need to start their own fashion line.
01:38Tempers will flare.
01:39Hemlines will fly.
01:41And remember, fashion isn't always pretty.
01:52I totally miss Carly this morning.
01:59I wanted to leave with Carly when she was going,
02:01because I was watching my competition leave,
02:03and I just wanted to go to, like, this , like, see ya.
02:07I'm just trying to care less, really.
02:09Just put out some wicked work.
02:11I'm not going to treat these people like my family anymore,
02:13because they're not.
02:22Hello, designers.
02:22Hello, Yvonne.
02:25You're ready for your next challenge?
02:27Let's bring up the models.
02:29Remember, this competition is also for the models.
02:34The model, paired with the winning designer,
02:36will get a cover and an inside spread in Elle Canada magazine.
02:41Lucien, you won the last challenge.
02:43There's no immunity for this challenge,
02:46but we will let you pick up your models first.
02:49Who do you want to work with?
02:50I think I was there with Chanel.
02:52Chanel.
02:54Congratulations.
02:55And for the rest of you, we'll draw names.
03:00Steven.
03:01I'd like to stay with Renee.
03:04Bidel.
03:05I'll stay with Ashley.
03:07Charnette.
03:08I'll stay with Jacqueline.
03:12Marijan Behave.
03:14I think I'll change and try somebody else.
03:16And Dre.
03:21Megan.
03:21I'm going to go with Amanda.
03:27And we know who the last name is.
03:29Yes.
03:30Kendra.
03:31You have Jessica and Lauren.
03:34Whoever you choose will be in,
03:37and the model you don't choose will be out.
03:42Who do you choose?
03:46I will work with Jessica.
03:52I'm sorry.
03:56Designers, fashion is a fantasy,
03:59and the runway is an escape.
04:02But there is another side to it all.
04:04In this challenge, fashion will take a deeper meaning.
04:08I am the global ambassador for Keep a Child Alive.
04:13Keep a Child Alive is an urgent response to the AIDS pandemic ravaging my continent, Africa.
04:21It's dedicated to providing life-saving antiretroviral drugs to children and families affected with HIV and AIDS.
04:32Our work is an uphill battle, but it is by no means a hopeless one.
04:39That is why your next challenge is to create a gown that is inspired by the word hope.
04:48I hope you will find out more from Brian.
04:52Good luck, and I will see you on the runway.
04:54Ciao.
04:54This challenge is very inspiring.
05:00Anything to do with children, anything to do with issues with Africa are very close to me,
05:06so I hope that I do a good job.
05:09I make Iman proud.
05:22Good morning, designers.
05:26With me today, this is Kate Alexander Daniels, principal of Daniels Stephenson Productions.
05:34Inan is hosting a cocktail benefit for Keep a Child Alive.
05:38The glitterati will be out in full force, and they will be invited to bid on your designs in a silent auction.
05:46We have an unbelievable opportunity here to help raise an incredible amount of money and awareness
05:54with your creations, so go for it.
05:56Fabulous.
05:58Amazing.
05:59It's rampant in Africa, HIV, and it doesn't seem as though anything's being done.
06:06I don't know if this is enough, but every little bit helps.
06:10You need to kick it up a notch for this challenge.
06:12You have until 5.45 tomorrow night to finish your design, and 30 minutes to sketch starting now.
06:27The richest women in Canada.
06:32What am I doing here?
06:34Do we get paid by these rich women to make it?
06:36No, it's going to charity.
06:37I think Bedell has many different things going on with him.
06:43He's very young.
06:44He's very rebellious.
06:46At that age, you think you know everything, and everything is about you.
06:50Okay.
06:59Designers, you have 45 minutes, and it starts now.
07:07So, what do rich people like?
07:16It's really pissing me off.
07:18This is a no.
07:19It's too purple.
07:20I don't like it.
07:24Smart girl.
07:24I did the same thing.
07:26I want to bring your shoes.
07:27I want to bring your shoes.
07:29I grabbed a pair of shoes to take shopping with me because they were green,
07:32and I want my model to look like a white rose with a green stem.
07:37Her shoes need to be as close to her skirt as possible, so it's just a good continuation.
07:42Very slim from the front.
07:44Okay, and this is up here.
07:46Yeah.
07:49Love the color combination.
07:51You want it beaded?
07:52No, no, no, not really.
07:53Can we use like a plain color in this kind of quality?
07:56It's nice to see.
08:01Hi, Kendra.
08:02Hi, how are you doing?
08:02Have you missed me?
08:03No.
08:03Oh, all right.
08:04See you later.
08:08I need something that goes with like beaded fabric.
08:12It goes with like this steely green color.
08:14Why don't you paint this here?
08:16It's too dark.
08:17Something like this.
08:20Why don't you paint this?
08:25Something like this.
08:26No.
08:27Too heavy.
08:29Something like this.
08:32One minute.
08:33$2.43.38.
08:35Do you have money left over, Steven?
08:37I have $6.70.
08:39Do you need interfacing?
08:40Do you need anything?
08:41I have interfacing already.
08:44Thread.
08:50Okay, let's get this wrapped up, designers.
08:52We need to get back.
08:56Yay, silk.
09:00The funny thing is no matter how much I know what I'm doing, it always takes a while to finish everything up.
09:19We have to be finished more than we've ever finished before.
09:23Yeah.
09:24Like it has to be perfect.
09:34Pretty in pink.
09:36I'm not using any embellishments this time.
09:39I'm just doing something simple with an off shoulder shape with a cowl at the front that continues at the bottom.
09:45It's very Hollywood.
09:46How's it going, Bedell?
09:51Good.
09:51You loving that dress?
09:53It's a dead thing until I see it on the girl, right?
09:56My strength is in making gowns.
09:59As for Bedell, I don't think it's four days in evening wear.
10:03Which one?
10:06Damn it, look at the time.
10:16Hello, designers.
10:17Hello.
10:18Hello.
10:18Megan, how's it going?
10:21Um, it's going.
10:22It's just like a simple sort of sheath.
10:27And then the back is going to have like a train.
10:29This is tricky because I have to.
10:30This looks like a bit of a road map here.
10:33Well, yeah, it's not.
10:33You're shaping in there.
10:35Well, this.
10:36Come back and look.
10:37Oh, right here.
10:38Yeah.
10:39When you're doing what you like to do, Megan, which is an ultra clean dress,
10:43it is probably harder to finish than some of the other gowns or dresses that have been shown.
10:48Because everything shows up.
10:49And tomorrow night is a very different experience.
10:52There are people that are very close to it.
10:54Yeah.
10:54So I need you to really work hard on getting this correct.
10:57Yeah.
10:57I look forward to seeing it looking absolutely beautiful tomorrow.
11:02I'm working on it.
11:06My, look at all that pleating happening in there.
11:08And it's got detail happening.
11:10It's moving, right?
11:10Like you follow your eye on it.
11:11What's the matter?
11:11Did you die in the back?
11:12No, I didn't.
11:13Don't leave that just like that.
11:15Well, this is going to be.
11:16What's going in there?
11:17There's a piece.
11:18Some big triangle piece?
11:19Well.
11:21You got to watch your triangle pieces just coming out of the wrong spot.
11:24You don't, her, her anus is in the right spot to draw a triangle piece out of?
11:31I think her buttocks will look beautiful with all that treatment on it actually, Evan.
11:35Yeah.
11:35However, remember, the women there tomorrow are not about showing necessarily their derriere.
11:43Yeah.
11:44You want them to buy this dress?
11:46You want them to, you want somebody to walk out of there going, they paid 10 grand for this dress?
11:5110 grand?
11:52Why not?
11:53I guess, but I come from a smaller place than that.
11:57When I had my shop open in Victoria, I got $700 for a wedding dress.
12:02I'm not here to get someone to tell me I'm worth it.
12:04It's not an issue for me.
12:06I'm not going to like pink all of a sudden, just because you tell me it was in vogue.
12:14God, get, oh!
12:23They're playing mind games back and forth, constantly.
12:34I don't know, whatever.
12:35It's stupid that she went instead of Megan.
12:37Don't you ever think, okay, that's just my opinion.
12:40Let me listen and learn a little bit and see, because these people have experience.
12:43A woman always wants to look skinny, right?
12:46So you make a dress with a bum that doesn't fit with gathers to make her even wider,
12:50and you expect her to win?
12:52And I don't know how your pink is going to make it through this next challenge either,
12:56because it's like Barbie bubblegum pink, and I don't see anybody wearing that at this ball.
13:02You're so full of anger.
13:04Whatever.
13:05I was trying to somehow connect to him, and it's just not possible.
13:10And after that, I really lost my respect for him.
13:13You guys are just brutal together.
13:15It's like putting two male hamsters in a cage together, and they're just all over each other like that.
13:22I mean, that's what it's like watching here.
13:24No, it's like two lions together.
13:26They don't... they...
13:28Hamsters!
13:30get up.
13:44Our newest challenge is to design a gown inspired by hope.
13:48And there's going to be a silent auction of our gowns for a charity event.
13:53Just keep a child alive, Iman's cause that she supports.
13:57These are very rich and important people.
14:01Very rich and important people.
14:04They are more important than you.
14:07I like that it's charity anyways.
14:09That makes it worth it.
14:18So my dress is more like kind of a cloud.
14:31And the bird is kind of flying for the first time over the clouds.
14:35So that's hope for me.
14:37Love the dress.
14:39So in love with Emshi's dress.
14:42She was there hand sewing spiral floral gorgeousness all over the skirt.
14:50I didn't want to use symbolism like color or any embroideries on the dress which represent hope.
14:56You know, I just want to make a dress that's wanted by everybody.
15:00For me, it's getting as much money as possible for the cause.
15:04That's what hope means for me right now.
15:12It's gorgeous, Vidal.
15:14I just have to pin it.
15:16I would bid on it.
15:18There's a couple things I want to do.
15:21Very nice.
15:22Vidal does simple, simple stuff.
15:25He cannot get out of his own style.
15:28He's a bit of like one dimension vision.
15:32I'm not very scared of him.
15:34Well, I didn't do anything I haven't done in the past.
15:36If they say they like it, I'm going to call them bullshit.
15:38What?
15:39If they say they like it this time, I'm just going to say bullshit.
15:41I'm just saying that.
15:47Good morning.
15:48Good morning.
15:49You have the chance to have your gowns presented to some of the wealthiest people in Canada.
15:55These people are well-educated in fashion.
15:58They know a beautiful garment when they feel them.
16:01I need to see every garment before it leaves this room.
16:06I want to look at finishing.
16:11This is going to be up close and personal with people who are going to want to touch the fabric, look up close.
16:17And so we really have to have better quality than we usually do.
16:22This is going to be really fitted through here, right?
16:24Yeah, yeah, yeah.
16:25Just because she's got ips here, so I'm just waiting to see her.
16:28Because I need to see a really beautiful fit through here.
16:30Yeah.
16:31Quality is going to be a big, big, big deal.
16:36You won't see it.
16:37No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
16:40This all needs to be cleaned up and really pressed well.
16:42Beautiful.
16:43I want your top-notch work out there.
16:45Yeah.
16:46Some designers, although, yeah, they can design, but not all can sew beautifully.
16:53Megan!
16:54What's a different-looking dress?
16:55Well, it's just, it's an easy dress to throw on.
16:56An easy dress to throw on a zip-and-go dress doesn't always mean that it's going to, like,
17:00make an impact or a statement.
17:01No, but it's like, it's easy, but it's just different-looking.
17:02And also, everyone's doing these very, like, fitted.
17:03Which you normally do.
17:04Yeah, so I went the opposite.
17:05I think a lot of people are just sort of sitting back waiting for me to fail.
17:18Everyone's just kind of like, ha-ha, like, Megan seeks by because the judges can't see
17:22all the problems with her stuff when it goes down the runway.
17:25Are you almost done?
17:26I have to sew the hem and sew on some snaps and press it.
17:29Really?
17:30Can you believe it?
17:31Way to go!
17:32Megan finally woke up.
17:34I don't pretend to be the world's greatest sample maker.
17:38This is a competition for the next great fashion designer.
17:41It's not the next great sample sewer.
17:46Designers, I'm bringing in your models now.
17:53Like that.
17:54Oh, that's pretty!
17:56And the theme is hope.
17:57And you are the beauty coming out of the darkness.
18:01We've got to raise a lot of money for the kids in Africa today.
18:03Oh, is that what it's for?
18:04Africa?
18:05Yes.
18:06Awesome.
18:07Oh my God, that color's perfect for your skin.
18:09Love it in the movies!
18:10I love it, because it's definitely a flower.
18:12You know, there's no question about that, so...
18:14Just make it very relaxed.
18:16Don't bounce.
18:17Don't bounce.
18:18Yeah.
18:19Flirt with the rich man, though.
18:20Because we've got to auction this baby off.
18:21Yeah.
18:22And then we're going to meet up back with you at the Four Seasons.
18:25Nice!
18:26Yeah.
18:27Good morning.
18:28Hello!
18:29Hello!
18:30Hello!
18:31Hello!
18:32Hello!
18:33Hello!
18:34We got to the Four Seasons and it was really busy backstage, there was a lot of people
18:57and not so much room.
18:59There was a few of us, including myself, who were finishing up some details on the dress,
19:04so it was just kind of like behind the scenes at a typical fashion show, just madness.
19:09That would be perfect.
19:11When you guys are going on.
19:13Ten minutes, designers.
19:14Ten minutes.
19:16This would be a good challenge to win as far as like integrity goes, it's like the winner
19:25is going to walk away quite satisfied with this one.
19:28We're really doing all of us our very best to raise as much money as possible for this
19:33cause.
19:34It is now my pleasure to introduce you to a truly remarkable woman.
19:39She's a supermodel, an icon, an entrepreneur, a CEO, and the global ambassador for Keep a
19:46Child Alive.
19:47Please welcome Iman.
19:49Ladies and gentlemen, I thank you for the gift of your presence.
19:59Each minute I stand here speaking to you, unfortunately, a child dies in Africa.
20:04That is 1,440 today alone.
20:09Take a moment and remember the more than 100 children who have died during this short time
20:17we've been talking.
20:18I am African and we are all Africans.
20:23And we cannot stop fighting until our world is free of AIDS.
20:30And now I'm pleased to introduce a humanitarian who has worked to improve the human condition,
20:36both here in Canada and abroad.
20:39Please welcome Mr. Steven Lewis.
20:47Believe it or not, only 5 to 10% of all the children in the world, the great majority of
20:53them in Africa, who require treatment now are receiving treatment.
20:58There are three quarters of a million who are at death's door.
21:03I don't understand how it is possible to hold whole populations expendable.
21:11And I've always believed that when one part of the world is under siege, the privileged part,
21:19our part, must respond.
21:22And I think that's the opportunity this evening.
21:25And I thank Keep a Child Alive, Iman, and all of you for being a part of it.
21:34Hello, everybody.
21:35You can all be very, very, very proud of what you've done.
21:39And just so you know, your dresses this evening will start at an opening bid of $750,
21:48which is excellent.
21:50Really great.
21:51Excellent.
21:52Let's go.
21:54Ladies and gentlemen, the objects that you'll be bidding on will be one of a kind evening
22:16gowns created by the top seven designers from Project Runway Canada.
22:21Enjoy the runway show.
22:22Oh, look at it, man.
22:23We got to watch the runway show from behind the scenes on a TV monitor.
22:36So it was exciting and nerve-racking.
22:38Go right back to look at just a few tips, girls.
22:40You need more confidence.
22:41Let'sBY and armor-to- while we're moving around the wifi window at our website.
22:42So here's my photo of parking.
22:43Here's격 the website.
22:44It looks like it looks like theShop we're seeing in theburgs image fell.
22:45That's the email from behind the scenes here.
22:46There's a chatbot.
22:47It looks like theourage satisfaction thing.
22:48It looks like it looks great, from showing off on each other but the end.
22:49That'll need to be a pencil.
22:50It looks great.
22:51It looks like it looks quite as quiet.
22:53Lastly, beautiful, I'm just gonna play the right.
22:57And, warm in here.
22:58Off the has a bouwrasce.
22:59Iced the key Here's the right castCC Пос,
23:03After the show, it was kind of a big, mad rush because we had, what, two seconds to
23:22take the dresses off the models and put them on the display forms.
23:33It was cool because we got to see what was going on backstage, people bidding on our
23:47dresses.
23:48I want higher, higher, higher.
23:54Knowing that your dress is there and that people are bidding on it, it's just frustrating
24:01because you can't see anything.
24:03You can't tell what they're bidding.
24:05You can't tell how many bids you're getting.
24:07You can't tell who's getting the most bid.
24:10I mean, this is a competition.
24:12Zoom!
24:13Zoom!
24:14Can you see?
24:16Oh, wait!
24:17Zoom!
24:18Zoom!
24:19How much?
24:20How much?
24:21I know.
24:22I know.
24:23The top bid on a dress is $10,000.
24:32Oh, my God.
24:34Stay honest.
24:36Wow.
24:37Steven Honest.
24:38Ten grand.
24:40Wow.
24:41Is that not fantastic?
24:42Do you know?
24:43Someone put $10,000, you know, on one of our dresses.
24:47Like, whatever it is, it doesn't matter at all at the end of the day, you know?
24:51I was really happy about it.
24:52I felt really, it was good.
24:54That's really amazing.
24:56So, congrats.
24:57I'm very proud of you.
24:59That makes me feel great to see people spending money on something that makes a difference.
25:04Like, my dress is going to actually help save lives.
25:08Save lives?
25:11No.
25:12Fashion doesn't do that.
25:14But now it does.
25:38Today is elimination day, and for once, I actually feel really good.
25:43I think it looks great, and to me, that's all that matters.
25:50Good morning.
25:51Morning.
25:52Morning, Brian.
25:53Fantastic evening.
25:55Really, really beautiful.
25:57Those dresses were magnificent.
26:01This will be a very tough one, but somebody will believe it.
26:05You need to re-look at your makeup and your hair for Eric and Eddie in the L'Oreal Paris Beauty Room.
26:11Go over your gown, look at every fine detail on it.
26:17Kick it up all the way.
26:20I'm bringing in the models now.
26:23Don't forget to use the winner's accessory wall.
26:26Maybe you want to change a few things.
26:27Good morning.
26:28I have no idea who's going to win and who's going to go home.
26:31I don't know.
26:32I just hope it's not me.
26:38Just a neat French roll with a little lift.
26:44A little bit of salsa, flamenco style.
26:47They have a lot of character in the eyes.
26:51Sleek, beautiful.
26:53Okay.
26:54Tight.
26:57The whole dress is very effortlessly chic.
26:59I want the hair to sort of look the same way.
27:01Just like this.
27:02Yeah.
27:03Okay.
27:04Yeah.
27:05Mwah.
27:10I just want fake eyelashes too.
27:12Oh yeah.
27:17So this is how you do it.
27:19Okay everybody, you know we have 15 minutes left so let's hurry up.
27:22Okay.
27:23I like it.
27:24Okay, well it works.
27:25That's good.
27:26I approve.
27:27It's beautiful.
27:33You're welcome.
27:35Pleasure.
27:36Gorgeous.
27:37I feel like a princess.
27:39Oh my god.
27:51I love that dress, Fidel.
27:53High five.
27:55Everybody ready?
27:57Next on Project Runway Canada, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
28:08But this is still a competition.
28:13It didn't make any sense.
28:14I hated it.
28:15I don't really see hope when I see this dress.
28:17That is the best dress I've seen so far on Project Runway Canada.
28:27Hello designers.
28:28Hello.
28:29Hello.
28:30Hello.
28:31Good morning.
28:32Your challenge was to channel hope through a fabulous evening wear creation.
28:39I cannot tell you how proud I was of you last night and I'm so happy to tell you that you've raised enough money in one hour to keep over 50 children on life saving drugs for a full year.
28:57Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
28:58Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
29:00Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
29:01But this is still a competition.
29:04It's time to welcome our judges.
29:07First, from El Canada, Editor-in-Chief Rita Sylvan.
29:12Next, from Bustle Clothing, Sean Hewson.
29:16And today's guest judge, the Canadian king of evening wear, Wayne Clarke.
29:22It's time to start the show.
29:29It was a dress which was a little bit more me and she looked like pretty and she was like cute and young.
29:39I liked it, you know.
29:41Who knows what the judges are going to think, but I liked it.
29:43It's awesome.
29:45After all the madness trying to get that dress done, she was very graceful and she looked more confident than she's ever looked.
29:56Even though there was a little like puckering in the zipper, it was good.
30:01It looked like a calla lily to me and that was what I was trying to create.
30:14I was trying to create a white flower.
30:16I was pleased with it.
30:31It was just spectacular.
30:33The colour, the dress itself, the way it fit.
30:36It was amazing.
30:40It was a proud moment for me.
30:42I loved it.
30:52I thought it was a very beautiful dress.
30:53Very simple and classy and elegant.
30:57Chanel can pull off anything.
31:02You can just build a cloth and put it on her and it looks stunning.
31:16I thought the dress looked great.
31:17She did her little pose at the end of the runway and it showed off the back of the dress which was the point.
31:22It flowed, the fabric had movement.
31:25It just looked light and effortless.
31:27I loved it.
31:31Seeing my dress come down the runway made me feel like I was back in the game and ready to go.
31:38The style was down.
31:40My heart was in it.
31:41The work was there.
31:42The fabric was there.
31:44The fit was there.
31:45It totally worked from top to bottom.
31:52If I say your name, please step forward.
32:06Steven.
32:10Kendra.
32:15Steven.
32:16You're safe.
32:17You may leave the runway.
32:19Kendra.
32:24Kendra.
32:26And so are you.
32:29You may leave the runway.
32:34You know what?
32:35Faith is all right with me.
32:38The remaining designers are the designers who scored the highest and the lowest.
32:45Let's bring out your marbles.
32:46Lucien, let's start with you.
32:56Tell us about your dress.
32:58I was thinking of art deco, the elegance and the simplicity of it.
33:01I wanted to do something that's just simple and elegant and sellable that could raise money.
33:07Wayne, let's start with you.
33:08What do you think?
33:09I felt it was the most glamorous dress.
33:12I thought it was a real red carpet gown.
33:14I think it's beautiful.
33:15It's good to see some cleaner looks from you.
33:18I really, I very much appreciate that about this dress considering your propensity to embellish.
33:24Freedom.
33:26I think it's sensual.
33:27It's restrained and elegant.
33:29It is truly a hopeful dress.
33:32And I think you did a terrific job.
33:33Thank you so much.
33:35Charnet.
33:36When I think of hope, I think something pure, maybe a white rose.
33:40And I was hoping in this case, if you sell my dress, it would be hope for the children that you would be their color lily in helping them see hope in their future.
33:49One of the things that I did not like today, when I saw it on the runway, it is specifically the flower.
33:57It took, it was too complicated.
33:59You're looking at what she's doing.
34:00You're putting the flower down.
34:01She's walking.
34:02I didn't think I had to explain it though.
34:04I just thought, I didn't.
34:05If you had to explain by walking with that flower, so we had to think it's the color lily and that's why.
34:11And it's already losing the point.
34:13Well, I appreciate the inspiration, but unfortunately, I feel like it looks a bit like a wilted calla lily.
34:19The collar, somehow to me, doesn't fit right.
34:22You could always adjust it.
34:24You could always lift it up and do different things with it.
34:27I kept looking at it and looking at it and thinking, I want it to take flight.
34:30I want something to happen there.
34:31Maybe I want it to be crisper, but I found it to be just a little bit soggy.
34:36I lost some chic.
34:38Peace.
34:40Videl.
34:41Hi.
34:42Tell us about your dress.
34:44Well, I was in a really weird mood the day when I heard the challenge and you told us it was about hope.
34:49And I sort of like woke up a little bit and I saw why we were doing what we were doing.
34:53I can do this now because it's not just let's make some clothes.
34:57It's let's feed some kids.
34:59Sean.
35:00I just, you know, I think that is the best dress I've seen so far on Project Runway Canada.
35:05It's amazing.
35:06Great color, great fabric, great tailoring.
35:09Wayne.
35:10It's a beautiful dress.
35:13Obviously, somebody who loves what they do.
35:15I know what it's like to do each and every one of those folds and to change it a hundred times and to make it right.
35:21It's just, it's a really beautiful dress.
35:24From the first day, from the first challenge, I knew you had it in you.
35:28But then you slacked.
35:30Don't take your eye off the price, Videl, because I know you are a very, very good designer.
35:37Megan.
35:38Well, when I think of hope, I guess I was sort of thinking about like things seem sort of gray.
35:43I don't know with what's going on in the world.
35:44So I wanted to take something that's sort of gray.
35:46You can make something light and beautiful.
35:48So I want it to be like light and flowy and just sort of feel sort of airy and that to me is hopeful.
35:54I think where I feel that it broke down was in the bib treatment.
35:59It doesn't look expensive.
36:00I feel like you wanted it to look quite opulent and, you know, and a lot of detail in it and that sort of, and it doesn't come across like that.
36:07It really lacks anything for me.
36:09It's not slick.
36:10It doesn't evoke hope.
36:11I think it lacks a shape, you know, it lacks any sort of personality really.
36:15Rita.
36:16First of all, I don't really see hope when I see this dress.
36:19I find it to be a gloomy dress.
36:22Not only because of the color choice.
36:24The silhouette is kind of shapeless.
36:27It just looks like one giant gray cloud.
36:33Marie Geneviève.
36:34First I wanted to make like something with clouds, you know.
36:37It looks young as well.
36:38I went with something a little bit shorter because I thought, you know, when you're on the red carpet or something.
36:44Sometimes like women wants to show shoes as well.
36:47And I went with this color because I think it looks a little bit more rich to it.
36:51And I really like that color.
36:52Yeah, I think it's a great dress.
36:54I like the length.
36:55And I think the embellishment at the bottom adds a bit of personality to it without sort of stepping into that over-design area.
37:03Yeah, that's right.
37:04It's very you.
37:05It has the French chic.
37:06It's a cute can-can dress.
37:08So the color is great.
37:10The fabric is wonderful.
37:12It's very wearable.
37:13The fru is fantastic.
37:14I love it.
37:16I enjoyed it.
37:17I am so glad that you came back in the competition.
37:20Yeah.
37:21I had the opportunity to show you what I can do.
37:24Because this was adorably chic.
37:26Oh.
37:27So, well, I'm glad you came back.
37:29I'm glad you came back.
37:31Thank you all for this wonderful gowns.
37:33And we will decide who's in and who's out.
37:43Okay.
37:44Lucien, what do we think?
37:46I think it's a beautiful dress.
37:47Also, it shows that he is always listening.
37:50He's not stuck like some of the other designers.
37:52And he is showing that he can be simple and spectacular.
37:56If that walked down a Versace runway,
37:58people would be going,
37:59that's totally red carpet Hollywood.
38:03I mean, it was a good dress.
38:04I'm not fawning over it like the three of you.
38:06I mean, for me, it was the third place dress.
38:08You're so wrong.
38:09No, it was good.
38:10You're really wrong.
38:11You really don't get taste and high class.
38:15You don't get me, man.
38:17Oh, I'll get you later.
38:22Charnet, let's start with you.
38:24What did you think?
38:25I hated it.
38:26You hated it?
38:27Yeah.
38:28I felt it missed the point.
38:30I didn't think there was anything glamorous
38:32or red carpet event about it.
38:34To me, it's mother of the bride.
38:36I wanted to like the talk,
38:38but she was aiming in lots of different places.
38:40Yeah.
38:41But she didn't finish the job.
38:43She has a tendency to get stuck and doesn't listen.
38:47Because as you know, in our business, you know,
38:50it takes just one season to be out.
38:55Megan.
38:56Oh, Jesus.
38:57Very gloomy dress.
38:59It's a tough color to wear.
39:00Most women wouldn't reach for it to go out for a big night.
39:03I like the color.
39:04It's chic, but gloomy.
39:06Very chic.
39:07Mixed with the shape.
39:08Well, not with that style.
39:09I mean, the lack of shape.
39:10I mean, if it was nicely tailored and constructed...
39:12Then it has some energy.
39:13It was interesting to look at,
39:14but it was basically a big...
39:15A big set.
39:16...gray cloud going in the runway.
39:17It was terrible.
39:18It was...
39:19I'm PMSing.
39:20I'm bloated.
39:21This is the dress I'm going to wear.
39:25Well, from the ridiculous to the sublime.
39:28Marie-Jean-Vivre.
39:29When I saw it, I thought,
39:30this is really beautiful.
39:31This is, you know,
39:32as good as anything else you'd see on a runway.
39:36I thought the lines created a really nice shape.
39:39They were subtle.
39:40I thought it was cheeky and chic,
39:42and really, really Marie-Jean-Vivre.
39:45Yes.
39:48Bidel.
39:49Wayne.
39:50The workmanship on that was just...
39:52You know, tedious.
39:53Sure-footed, it felt like.
39:54Somebody who knew what they were doing.
39:55Everything was so smooth.
39:56And you know what,
39:57for all that pleating and tucks and this,
40:00everything, it was just so smooth.
40:02And I felt that he was actually challenging himself
40:05more than he was competing with the other designers.
40:08I think now, if Bidel can stay awake and stay engaged,
40:11it's going to be very interesting to see what happens.
40:13So, I think Luchin, watch out.
40:18On that note, have we made our decision?
40:20Yeah, absolutely.
40:21Let's bring the designers in.
40:28Designers.
40:29I am delighted with the amount of money you raised.
40:39You gave us such a reason to be very proud last night.
40:44However, not every dress was a success,
40:46as you all know, sometimes in fashion,
40:47you just don't measure up.
40:51The glam you brought to the runway,
40:52I am delighted with the amount of money you raised.
40:56Designers.
40:57I am delighted with the amount of money you raised.
40:58You gave us such a reason to be very proud last night.
41:02However, not every dress was a success.
41:06As you all know, sometimes in fashion,
41:08Lucien, the glam you brought to the runway
41:13was the kind of hope we were all looking for.
41:18You may leave the runway.
41:22You look proud as a peacock right now.
41:26Marie Genevieve,
41:28you had the highest bed at the auction last night.
41:34All for you.
41:35Yours was a $10,000 dress.
41:41Bravo.
41:43That's great.
41:44From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
41:47You may leave the runway.
41:49That's good.
41:56It's my dress who had the $10,000.
41:59Really?
41:59Amazing.
42:00Wow.
42:01Oh my God.
42:02Oh my God.
42:03It's my turn.
42:05Videl.
42:06Hi.
42:08Your gown was so breathtaking.
42:13Congratulations.
42:16You won this challenge.
42:18Hands down.
42:19You can leave the runway.
42:21I'm glad you guys liked it.
42:25Bravo.
42:26Bravo.
42:26It's about time.
42:28It's about time.
42:29I'm totally happy I won.
42:31I'm happy that I won this challenge in particular because everything about this challenge is for
42:35a higher cause that it meant something.
42:37Now we're down to you two.
42:42Shanette, we all appreciate the seed of your inspiration, but it did not grow into something
42:49very chic.
42:50The design did wilt on the runway.
42:54Megan, you're clearly stronger at designing than you are at sewing, which is what kept you
43:01in this competition until now.
43:09Shanette, you're still in.
43:15You may leave the runway.
43:17Thank you so much.
43:22I'm so glad I'm still here.
43:24Megan, I'm sorry, but you just don't measure up.
43:34Thank you for the opportunity.
43:37And thank you.
43:42Okay.
43:49It's okay.
43:49I love my dress.
43:50I love your dress.
43:51It was your best work.
43:53It was your best work.
43:54I made it this far, which is a lot further than I thought I'd get, so.
44:00This is not a failure for me.
44:01A failure for me would have been giving in when I wanted to give in.
44:04For me, I succeeded because I made it this far and I got, I went out on something that
44:08I was really proud of and that's a success for me.
44:11Because I think for a while, a lot of people just didn't respect me at all.
44:14In the end, I got them to respect me.
44:17You took a chance, Megan.
44:19You know, that's what fashion design is about, is taking a chance.
44:21You must be very proud of the work that you've done.
44:23And now I need you to come with me and clean up your workspace, okay?
44:28Bye.
44:28Bye.
44:28It gives me confidence to continue on doing what I'm doing and everyone can look out
44:34for my line coming to stores in the spring.
44:37Next time on Project Runway Canada, we have seven iconic fashion moments.
44:54All the different periods of fashion.
44:56I have immunity, so I'm probably going to go have a nap.
45:00He's overly confident.
45:02You've been an obnoxious jerk.
45:04So what's with the flutter on the butt?
45:06That's insulting, isn't it?
45:09It could be so much more.
45:10You played it really, really safe.
45:12You did it backwards.
45:13Designers, I have a very special guest, Ramona Kaveja.
45:18Hello, designers.
45:20Hi.
45:20Hi.
45:20I am a huge believer in Keep a Child Alive.
45:25And last night, there was one dress that I went.
45:28This is world class.
45:31And I would love to invite this designer to have their gown become part of the Ramona Kaveja
45:39collection.
45:39Every cent from the sale of this dress will go towards Keep a Child Alive.
45:47Bedell.
45:48Oh.
45:50You are a world class designer.
