00:01Previously on Project Runway All-Stars.
00:04This week, you'll be creating sportswear.
00:07We have four seasons and eight designers.
00:09Let's make this a fashion face-off.
00:12Oh, okay.
00:14It was Jarell and I, Mila and Rami, Mondo and Kenley,
00:18Kara and Austin.
00:20Well, I'm glad you're doing that.
00:21It's gonna all win.
00:22Michael is cutting the same jacket as me.
00:26Look, it's .
00:27I gotta be accused of plagiarism.
00:29Really, bitch?
00:30Where's that bell, girls?
00:31Ding, ding.
00:36I think the coat's gorgeous.
00:38I love the hat, the hair.
00:40Congratulations, Jarell.
00:42You are the winner of this challenge.
00:44Yay.
00:45She looks like a boar.
00:46Kara, you had the high score and Austin, you had the low score.
00:50Oh, boy.
00:51Kenley, you have the high score.
00:53Mondo, you have the low score.
00:55The top underneath, I wish I had never seen that.
00:57It was just bulky and awkward.
00:59I'm sorry to say, Rami, but you are out.
01:0213 of the best designers from Project Runway are back.
01:08And this time, the competition is tougher than ever.
01:13Each week, their skills are tested to the limit as they compete for the biggest prize in runway history.
01:19Who will be cut and who will have it all sewn up?
01:23This is Project Runway All-Stars.
01:28The winner of Project Runway All-Stars will sell their merchandise within an exclusive boutique at select Neiman Marcus stores and on Neiman Marcus dot com.
01:36The winner will also get a spread in Mary Claire magazine in a position as guest editor for one year.
01:41$100,000 in technology and office space from HP and Intel.
01:45A sewing and embroidery studio provided by Brother International.
01:49And a cash prize of $100,000 courtesy of L'Oreal Paris.
01:53Wow, what a shocker that Rami went home, right?
02:07Like...
02:08Crazy!
02:09I mean, and at this point...
02:10That's intense!
02:11It could be anyone, because he was such an amazing designer.
02:13Such a great designer.
02:14Shocked.
02:15Really shocked.
02:16He's fantastic.
02:18And I thought his look was fantastic.
02:20Definitely do think the fact that Rami's gone is a bit of a game changer.
02:24It's like one of the best designers, most difficult to probably beat is gone.
02:29Can't be mad at that, because eventually they all have to go so I can get my check.
02:33Let's go.
02:34Let's go.
02:35Come on.
02:36Let's go.
02:37We head off to Circle in the Square Theatre.
02:49Right there in the heart of Times Square, the heart of Broadway, like the pulse of New York.
02:54It's very exciting.
02:56I'm a huge Broadway fan.
02:58I go to Broadway plays all the time.
03:00Hey, designers!
03:01Hi!
03:02Come down, join me!
03:05The world of theater is a world of imagination.
03:08It's a world of illusion, the world of fantasy, and all those things excite me.
03:12This week, we're on Broadway!
03:15Woo!
03:16Who doesn't love a good Broadway show?
03:19Absolutely.
03:20This week's challenge is the first for Project Runway and Broadway.
03:25And it involves Godspell, a rock musical about Jesus and his apostles.
03:29To help me reveal all, we have one of the most successful Broadway composers in history.
03:35He's won multiple Oscars, Grammys, and other awards for his hits, including Pocahontas, Pippin, and of course, the phenomenally successful musical, Wicked.
03:46Wow.
03:47Ooh.
03:48His first-ever musical, Godspell, is back on Broadway for its 40th anniversary.
03:55Please welcome legendary composer Stephen Schwartz.
04:00Woo!
04:01Hey!
04:02Hey, guys.
04:03Angela.
04:04Hi, Stephen.
04:05How are you?
04:06Good to see you.
04:07Good to see you.
04:08Hey.
04:09Stephen Schwartz, huge Oscar-winning composer.
04:11He's won Oscars, he's won Tony Awards, he's won it all.
04:14It's a true honor to have him participate with the all-stars for this challenge.
04:18So, Stephen, tell us, how is Project Runway and Godspell joining forces?
04:23Well, the winner of this week's challenge will have his or her design featured in the new Broadway production of Godspell.
04:31Wow.
04:32Awesome.
04:33And a bio in the program.
04:35Wow.
04:36Awesome.
04:37That's great.
04:38Take a seat, guys, and let's talk about the actual challenge.
04:40To have your bio and a playbill on Broadway is pretty frickin' major.
04:45So, I want to introduce you to the director of the show, Dani, and the actress playing the role, Uzo.
04:52Hi.
04:53Say hello.
04:54A very rich person who likes everyone to know just how rich she is.
04:59You're going to be designing an outfit for this rich woman.
05:02And it should feel like I'm really rich, a material girl, and she wants to show off her wealth and is hoarding her wealth.
05:11And it's being, it's really ostentatious.
05:13It should look like each of the characters sort of put together his or her own outfit from something they found in the back of their closet or picked up at a thrift store.
05:23And it expresses their inner personalities in a colorful and humorous and slightly exaggerated way, but they still look great.
05:32The actors will be assembling this piece onto her on stage.
05:37Which is why this is going to be a separate challenge.
05:40You have a budget of $200, and I'll see you back on the runway tomorrow when we decide which one of you will be getting your Broadway debut right here on this stage.
05:50As they say in the theater, break a leg.
05:53So after having a little Q&A with our panel of thespians, we are quickly sketching away in our HP pads, coming up with ideas, inspirations.
06:05I think it's really cool that we are allowed a few moments in the theater to just absorb the, just the magic of the room and just the ambiance of the theater.
06:14This is a tricky challenge for everybody because it's Broadway and everybody thinks about Broadway, like lights and sequins and fringe, but it's difficult.
06:30I sketched this long kind of crazy thing with a bow, but I was afraid it might translate into a dress.
06:36So I started sketching this other thing that was just, you know, lots of pieces, but wasn't feeling that I thought it could be too dramatic.
06:43So I came up with a skirt and a top.
06:47Okay guys, that's it. You ready to go to mood?
07:02And how much is this?
07:03I want to go for some fabric that will just speak luxury, opulence, you know, conspicuous consumption richness.
07:11So I'm, I'm thinking like a fabulous brocade.
07:14How about the top one?
07:16This one?
07:17This is nice.
07:18Well, I'm going to make a fur type stoles, like jackets.
07:24And then I'm going to line hopefully the jacket with some really pop color.
07:28I love color.
07:29I love mixing patterns.
07:30And I like over the top things.
07:31One minute, everybody.
07:32Wrap it up.
07:33We got one minute, shoppers.
07:34Come on.
07:35Where's the fur?
07:36Where do my straps go?
07:37Can I help you with anything?
07:38All of them?
07:39I need red.
07:40I got red thread.
07:41I need navy thread.
07:42I love Kara so much and part of what I love about her is her emotional rollercoaster.
07:57Like one moment Kara will be singing and performing sort of an interpretive dance.
08:02The next minute she'll be like sobbing and having a breakdown.
08:07So we get the friends and families, veteran discount.
08:10I love that jazz.
08:11Hey guys, time's up.
08:13Bring your stuff up here.
08:14Gotta get out.
08:15200 bucks.
08:16200 smack loose.
08:17I gotta get these curlers out, Austin.
08:34You're gonna be wearing those all day, girl.
08:36I gotta get them off.
08:39The brocade fabric, that's gonna be my jacket.
08:42And that's gonna be the key signature piece for this look.
08:45It's gonna tie all of the separates in.
08:48And I'm debating on a silver brocade for a top or a red top.
08:54I am doing kind of this goldish silver lame coat with a peplum at the hip.
09:00It's definitely gonna be really lame, I guess is the word I'm looking for.
09:05Lame.
09:06I really hope that judges are able to pick up on my attempt to create a design that is
09:14very appropriate for this sort of conspicuous consumption type character.
09:19Pretty.
09:20It's going to be a blous-en-tout.
09:21A blous-en-tout.
09:22Very blous-en-tout.
09:23This time around, I'm really hoping that the judges notice the clean lines.
09:29And just like a certain sort of really simple chic aesthetic.
09:33Cara.
09:34Beautiful.
09:35Cara's done, everybody.
09:38That's fabulous.
09:39Cara, look at my fabric.
09:41Wow, that's beaut.
09:44I've noticed a lot of this sort of unnecessarily over complimentary love for others' designs.
09:52And now it's like crazy between Cara and Kenley.
09:56If and when the time comes that one of them is eliminated, the other one, you know, might have a meltdown.
10:04Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
10:06It looks unfinished.
10:07This is not as ambitious as you need to be to be an All Star.
10:11We're pushing ourselves so hard every day.
10:13There's really no time for any of us to unravel.
10:16Broadway.
10:31Broadway.
10:33I'm excited about just the sheer possibility of having a Broadway debut.
10:39Having one of your catsuits on Broadway.
10:42The challenge for this week is to create an ensemble for a character in the play Godspell.
10:51The character is a wealthy woman who steals money from everyone and flaunts her riches.
10:59Oh, these are cute.
11:01The Neiman Marcus accessory wall has everything that you can think of.
11:05But don't.
11:06I just have to be sure that I pick the right ones.
11:09Oh.
11:10Can they be classy?
11:11Oh my God.
11:12This is fantastic.
11:13Yeah.
11:14I was thinking of that.
11:15Me want.
11:16You take.
11:17Mondo, I know he got all the good stuff.
11:19I want this necklace.
11:20The twist to this challenge is that we're required to make separates because the actor
11:26has to put them on on stage during the musical.
11:34Hi, designers.
11:35Oh, hi.
11:36Hi.
11:37I have to tell you this is I think one of the most exciting challenges.
11:40I'm so excited about this prize being incorporated into Godspell and I'm dying to see what separates you are coming up with.
11:48Austin, it looks like they've robbed a bank here with all this kind of gold and silver.
11:57Well, our character is rich and she's all about conspicuous consumption.
12:01So I immediately thought of sort of like a Marie Antoinette.
12:05Mm-hmm.
12:06And so that's why I really gravitated to what this sort of like Baroque, Rococo, brocade.
12:11Really ostentatious.
12:12To me it does just say rich.
12:14Well, I love it because it reminds me of the, you know, is it hideous or is it fabulous?
12:18Yeah.
12:19I mean, that's kind of, I think.
12:20Because right now it's hideous but you're going to turn into something fabulous.
12:23I think.
12:24Aren't you, Austin?
12:25I am.
12:26Well.
12:27Right.
12:28I think so.
12:29Right.
12:30Good luck.
12:31Thank you, Joanna.
12:32Cara.
12:33Hi, Joanna.
12:34How are you?
12:35I'm good.
12:36Are you a Broadway fan?
12:37I am.
12:38A huge Broadway fan.
12:39Good.
12:40Tell me about your outfit.
12:41I mean, I'm thinking of you doing this top because I feel like it.
12:44Okay, so it's a fairly straightforward V-neck top.
12:46Well, and I'm going to have the ties around the neck.
12:48What, like a little pussycat bow or?
12:50Yeah, sort of like this and then.
12:53Just because I feel like that's a rich, chic effect.
12:56Right.
12:57You know, and then I was going to do a high-waisted maxi skirt.
13:00You're going to do a maxi skirt?
13:02I was going to do a maxi skirt.
13:04Okay.
13:05I think this is not necessarily as ambitious as you need to be to be an all-star.
13:09And I'm just concerned that you're pushing yourself.
13:12Because if you look around the room, there's a lot of ambition and imagination going on.
13:18And I'm not seeing it as much here.
13:21I get it.
13:25I get that it's like you push yourself.
13:27It's like we're pushing ourselves so hard every day.
13:31Like, you want to fall flat on your face, you're so tired.
13:34And then Joanna comes in and says, well, you know, like, are you an all-star?
13:40And I'm thinking to myself, well, I'll be damned.
13:43I really, really thought I was.
13:46Mila, hello.
13:47Hi.
13:48Show me what you're thinking of then for the separates for this crazy woman.
13:52I'm doing a blouse that's going to have the chevron effect in the front.
13:56Of course, it'll be lined.
13:58I'm doing a little chubby, you know, with a dolman sleeve, just like the blouse.
14:03And then I am making a skirt out of this crazy optical pattern here.
14:09Okay, so what kind of a skirt are you doing with this?
14:11Now, it's not really very Mila to do sort of a waistband, you know, dirndl type of thing.
14:17But it might be a better look with it than a pencil skirt.
14:21Interesting.
14:22I mean, a pencil skirt might work.
14:24She's quite powerful, I think, this character.
14:26I mean, she may be stealing from people and she may be rich,
14:29but I get the sense that a pencil skirt denotes power for her in a way that might be interesting.
14:36Hmm. Mm-hmm.
14:37All right, well, good luck with it, Mila.
14:40Mondo.
14:41Hello.
14:42I'm here to help you, and I may break into song.
14:44I'm just going to warn you, I was in Godspell at one point in my life.
14:46You were?
14:47Okay.
14:48Not a professional production, I hasten to add.
14:50Um, so tell me what you're thinking.
14:52So they were telling us that this woman that she plays is the rich woman.
14:56Right.
14:57And I was thinking that, you know, for her coat, it would be like her dad's old smoking jacket.
15:02So it's sentimental.
15:03Mm-hmm.
15:04Right.
15:05I love the fabric choice for this.
15:06I just think the kind of character she is, this deceitful character, is played out brilliantly in this.
15:11I just hope it's dramatic enough from a distance.
15:14Right.
15:15Well, I also bought this for like trim to add into here.
15:19I was almost thinking like a mandarin collar.
15:20Mm-hmm.
15:21And three-quarters sleeve.
15:22All right.
15:23Work it, Mondo.
15:24All right.
15:26Okay, Jerrel.
15:27Tell me what you are up to.
15:29I love texture.
15:30It's like one of my favorite things.
15:32So I'm going to do a coat that stops at the waist with a very extravagant cuff.
15:36Mm-hmm.
15:37And the fabric is kind of stretched, so it'll be easy for her to move around in and dance
15:41in.
15:42But it's very much that statement piece.
15:43Okay.
15:44You've got so much going on in here.
15:46You really probably don't need very much other than the shoe, do you?
15:49Yeah.
15:50Totally true.
15:51But in this case, I mean, the jacket is a piece of jewelry, so...
15:54Right.
15:55The jacket is a piece of jewelry.
15:56All right.
15:57Well, good luck with it, Jerrel.
15:59Let's see if you can get two in a row.
16:00Let's see.
16:01I'm definitely going for that.
16:02Kenley, I'm in shock.
16:03Is this the first week we've not had polka dots?
16:06I think it might be.
16:07Yeah!
16:08I think...
16:09Talk me through this.
16:10This is a really beautiful brocade that I'm making this really cool jacket in.
16:15This is my sketch.
16:16Okay.
16:17This is going to be the bottom of the jacket.
16:19Okay, so it's got a little peplum going on.
16:21Peplum, mm-hmm, exactly.
16:23For a little flair and flirty.
16:25Okay, and we're going to do feathers for some glamour.
16:28Right.
16:29And thriftiness around the collar here.
16:31Okay.
16:32And I want to do a pencil skirt in this gorgeous print.
16:36And I just think they look really fabulous together.
16:39That is a very Kenley print.
16:40Mm-hmm.
16:41And then I'm not accessorizing because there's so much happening.
16:45These are like signature thrift store pieces.
16:48Good luck with it.
16:49Good luck with it.
16:50Thanks.
16:51Okay, designers.
16:52Once again, I am so impressed by the level of talent in this room.
16:56This is a fantastic opportunity for everyone.
16:59So good luck.
17:01Really be ambitious and break a leg.
17:06Apparently, what's...
17:07Like, you've just got to push yourself.
17:09Finish.
17:10Just got to push yourself.
17:11In like six hours, you've got to present like three pieces.
17:14Hard.
17:15It's real hard.
17:17The competition's kind of getting to her.
17:19She's stressed out.
17:20She misses her kids.
17:22It's down to just the seven of us, and there's really no time for any of us to unravel at this point.
17:27Purpose day, girl.
17:28Why are you crying?
17:29Why are you crying?
17:30I see her eyes.
17:31She's crying.
17:32A little hug.
17:38It's inspired by her character in the play.
17:41She's this rich woman that steals from the poor.
17:45This is like so easy.
17:46It's like a jersey at all.
17:49The fitting is great.
17:50I mean, all I really have to fit on the model at this point is the catsuit, and that really fits like a glove.
17:55There's no alterations necessary whatsoever.
17:58She feels fun, youthful, young in the skirt, and the top looks really, really beautiful. Came together really nicely.
18:06When my model comes in for the fitting, I'm trying to see which direction I'm really going to like go.
18:12Gorgeous, Cara. Great job. Seriously.
18:21It's so different from anything I ever do.
18:23So once I get my model in to her look, I'm not liking the way this is going at all.
18:29It looks heavy. It looks overthought. It looks overdone.
18:34Like, it's just not real. I'm not feeling it.
18:37And it's not coming out exactly the way I wanted it to.
18:40So I'm going to have to rework this one tomorrow.
18:45Okay. Bye.
18:46All right. It's kind of pebbles and bad, bad.
18:49Time is at 9.30. We have a half an hour.
18:51I really like this jacket a lot.
18:53It looks flawless, and I did that.
18:56I don't make mediocre half-assed pieces.
18:59I do every piece beautifully with a wow factor.
19:03So it must be so annoying for those other designers.
19:07Do I need to hem this?
19:09I don't know. I don't like any of it right now.
19:12I was just so over it.
19:14There was materials on my table that I wasn't really fond of anymore.
19:18I haven't even started on my top. This is all I have.
19:20Okay, but you work quick.
19:22But don't get yourself in a tizzy.
19:25I got myself in a tizzy and it doesn't help.
19:27It's so hard being here week after week after week.
19:31Last week, my look was a tribute to my mother,
19:34and I was beaten up.
19:36Cynthia Rowley was so disgusted with my look,
19:39she didn't even know what to say.
19:42I'm a little confused.
19:44The top looks kind of... I'm not sure.
19:47Could I see the back?
19:51Oh, boy.
19:53It's hard for me to put my heart and soul on the line again.
19:56Right now, I'm still counting the pieces and trying to put them together.
19:59And it's really hard to come back and try to do something that I'm very proud of.
20:05Don't get stuck. You can do it, okay?
20:07He keeps saying that he's not feeling it.
20:09He's just done with this. He's not feeling like himself.
20:12It's making me really upset.
20:14Cute. So proud of you.
20:16Thanks, Mama.
20:17Kara's designs are hard to keep up with,
20:19and I'm not even really sure what she's doing right now.
20:22I know that she's using the faux fur as a stole,
20:26but I don't see a whole lot of other elements.
20:28Okay, everybody, let's go.
20:30Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars...
20:35I was using this one.
20:36This one?
20:37Yes.
20:38My first machine, Jarell broke.
20:39I cannot believe this.
20:40Jarell did not take yours.
20:41I...
20:42No.
20:43No one pushes Austin Scarlett around.
20:45It's day two. We head back to the work room before runway.
21:00Oh, look, the mice have finished my gown. How wonderful.
21:04I love the world of theater.
21:06To be able to make my Broadway debut would just be a dream.
21:12I have to go to a really dark place to make myself work harder.
21:16And so, yeah, I tell myself I'm stuck
21:19so I can really grab by the balls
21:22and move forward with more energy and more passion.
21:30Mila's grooming services for all your animal coat needs.
21:34My skirt is finished, my top is finished,
21:37but I'm still working on this damn fur jacket.
21:41I've never worked with faux fur before,
21:44so the fur is getting everywhere.
21:46I'm like some crazy cat woman now.
21:48Never again.
21:50Mila's design is not her best work to date.
21:53She's doing fur that she thinks is so fabulous,
21:56but it's not even real.
21:57I'm curious to see how it translates on the runway.
22:00Austin, are you doing okay?
22:02I really don't have enough time to finish anything
22:04the way I need to.
22:06It's definitely one of the most stressful runway days thus far.
22:11What is going on with all the machines?
22:13What do you mean?
22:14I was using this one.
22:15This one?
22:16Yes.
22:17I'll be off in one second, man. Sorry.
22:19I cannot believe this.
22:20I don't understand why people are just, like,
22:23jumping from machine to machine.
22:25Uh, Jarell did not take yours.
22:27I was on Michael's machine.
22:28Michael was using that.
22:29Ooh!
22:30Michael said that I could use it.
22:31Well, he also said I could use it,
22:33so Jarell did not take your machine.
22:34I...
22:35No.
22:36No one pushes Austin Scarlett around.
22:37Okay, no one touch this last machine in here, please.
22:40Hey, girl.
22:45You should be above the knee.
22:49I could make something to go around the ankle.
22:51Okay.
22:52I'd have to make some straps to keep my model shoe on.
22:56I'm just hoping that the judges don't think it's too matchy-matchy.
23:01Yeah, I just want to get makeup on you.
23:04After the model fitting,
23:05our models head into the L'Oreal hair and makeup salon.
23:09I need sort of very evil eyes.
23:13Big, tall slashes.
23:15Just kind of flawless old Hollywood.
23:17But not, like, costumey evil.
23:19Cool.
23:20Excellent.
23:21Cool, thank you.
23:22Glamorous, like, full curls on one side.
23:26We're gonna split Jessamine's hair straight down the middle.
23:29I want this hair to be, like, intimidating,
23:31so I kind of give her these horns, almost.
23:33I love it.
23:34It's perfect.
23:35Do it, do it, do it.
23:37Hey, y'all.
23:38Ten minutes all-stars.
23:39Ten minutes all-stars.
23:40Ten minutes all-stars.
23:41Just take that with you.
23:42Oops, sorry.
23:47Where's the screwdriver?
23:49Kara's look looked like her model was a tube of lipstick.
23:54I think, in this case, Kara did push it.
23:56Like, she pushed it all the way to the edge,
23:59but she didn't push it over.
24:01The skirt is done.
24:02Congratulations.
24:03Oh!
24:10Michael sees.
24:11I don't get enough of, like, the bitchy drama queen.
24:15It almost looks like a mother of the bride.
24:17And then these earrings, two rings.
24:20I'm just layering on the gold accessories,
24:23because that's the look of this character.
24:25She thinks more is better.
24:29The only one I don't really understand is Mila's.
24:32It's kind of like a girl who can't get into the club.
24:35Oh, that looks cute.
24:37Guess what, all-stars?
24:38It's that time.
24:39Let's head to the runway.
24:41Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars.
24:47I'm not really understanding who this girl is.
24:50She looks like she uses drugs.
24:52This almost reminds me of the Chiquita Banana Woman.
24:55It's Austin Scarlet.
24:56Oh, did I say Starlet?
25:08Hello, designers.
25:09Hey, Angela.
25:10As it's been said on Project Runway,
25:12one day you're in and the next you're out.
25:15Tonight, one of you will be going home.
25:18This week, you had to design a look made out of separates
25:21for a rich woman.
25:23The winning design will be incorporated
25:25into the Broadway production of Godspell,
25:28and one of you will receive your Broadway debut.
25:32So let's meet the judges.
25:34First, the designer and co-founder of Marquesa,
25:37Georgina Chapman.
25:38Hi.
25:39Hey.
25:40Next, one of the most famous names in fashion,
25:43who's also an expert in designing for Broadway,
25:47Isaac Mizrahi.
25:48Hey, Isaac.
25:49Hi, kids.
25:50And our guest judge this week knows exactly what it takes
25:54to make a design pop on stage.
25:56She's the star of the Tony Award-winning musical,
26:01Anything Goes,
26:02Broadway-leading lady, Sutton Foster.
26:05Yay.
26:09Sutton Foster, a two-time Tony Award winner.
26:12She's adorable.
26:13It's time to start the show.
26:15Good luck.
26:25My model looks really beautiful walking down the runway.
26:28She looks whimsical, magical, that chartreuse-colored skirt.
26:33It's moving side to side.
26:35And especially the headpiece.
26:37It brought the whole entire look together.
26:39I want to know who she is.
26:41I think the jacket looks impeccable.
26:53But she's still kind of thrifty, hip East Village at the same time.
26:57That's the look I was going for.
26:59And I was happy with it.
27:01My model looks every inch the decadent aristocrat with an absolute rocker flea market glamour
27:20all mixed into one glorious presentation.
27:31Job well done, Jerrel.
27:36Yet again, I love my look.
27:38I think it totally reads true to who I am.
27:40I think it's definitely appropriate for the challenge.
27:43And I think it stands out on the runway.
27:53She's really put together.
27:55And she sort of plays up to the drama of being this rich bitch.
28:01All in all, I think she's looking sharp.
28:14I am very happy with how I've attacked this challenge.
28:19And at a moment where I was ready to give up,
28:22I'm so glad that I've captured the spirit of the theater,
28:26yet still being very fashionable.
28:31My model looks really fun, and that's what I was going for.
28:39I wanted there to be a sense of humor.
28:41And I'm hoping that the judges see that I really pushed outside my box.
28:47It's definitely a notice-me kind of outfit.
28:58If I call your name, please step forward.
29:00Jerrel.
29:04Congratulations, Jerrel.
29:05You're safe.
29:06Me?
29:07Your designs are keeping you in the competition,
29:10and you may leave the runway.
29:11Thank you very much.
29:15The rest of you are here for the judges' critique.
29:18So let's bring out your models.
29:20Three of you have the highest scores, and three of you have the lowest scores.
29:30Michael, tell us about your rich woman.
29:33I took in that this woman wants to definitely look like she has money,
29:38but there has to be some sort of a humor about her.
29:41And if you're noticing the green strings, those are to hold my model shoes on.
29:46I love those.
29:47Yeah.
29:48They're cool.
29:49It's very lovely.
29:50I wish it was slightly more eccentric.
29:53I think you're relying on what's happening in the hair a little much.
29:56And so I would have liked you to put a little more of the eccentricity into the actual dress itself.
30:03It draws my eye.
30:05She feels like a rich party girl that would be a little wild.
30:08But I like that.
30:09I get that vibe, too.
30:10And there's something about her that almost is a little bitchy.
30:14Like, I have everything.
30:15Totally.
30:16Congratulations to you, because that color, to me, is a very difficult color.
30:20Pairing it with the top was a really good idea.
30:23So, Kinley.
30:24Okay.
30:25Well, I really got excited about this challenge, because I lived in the East Village for years,
30:30and I would throw pieces together, prints, colors, and it all comes together and makes one look.
30:37You are really flying in our faces right here, you know, a little bit.
30:41In order to do that, though, you need to tweak it just a little bit.
30:45The black shoe just goes, like, to East Village to me.
30:47Like, she doesn't live in the East Village.
30:49She lives in a doorway in the East Village.
30:50You know what I mean?
30:51I thought you cut that coat so well.
30:55I was really impressed by that, given the time.
30:57I do think maybe you've got one too many elements going on in this.
31:00Because if you're going to mix a print and then throw feathers and then feathers in the hair and then a polka dot,
31:05it's sort of like we're missing how beautifully that coat's cut.
31:09Right.
31:10When you came on the runway, I thought, I want to wear that in real life.
31:14But then I also felt like the patterns muddle it.
31:17So on stage, I feel like it would blend as opposed to pop.
31:21She definitely seems eccentric, but I wasn't sure if this woman looked rich enough.
31:29I see what you mean.
31:30Austin.
31:31I saw her as, like, a character who all she cared about was just this decadent sort of luxury.
31:37I mean, I could almost imagine the people saying to her, like, oh, your people, they're impoverished.
31:42And her reply would be, well, let them wear Austin Scarlet.
31:46You know what?
31:47You've managed to keep it modern.
31:49And I can definitely see the nod towards Marie Antoinette.
31:52I think you've done a great job here.
31:55I love the color, and it would definitely draw attention, which is exactly what the character wants.
31:59I really like the silhouette of this look.
32:02I think it's really fun and modern.
32:04To me, this is incredibly wonderful, but it borders a little bit on too young.
32:11Because the woman who's going to want to buy Austin Starlet needs money, needs a place to wear it to, you know?
32:18But that's my roundabout way of saying I really like it, darling.
32:22It's Austin Scarlet, not Starlet.
32:24Oh, did I say Starlet?
32:25That's all right.
32:26I just wanted to make sure that that was well understood, but thank you.
32:31So, Mila, I thought of, like, a woman who shops on Rodeo Drive, kind of a California take on it.
32:37She just really likes to live it up, and she likes to be noticed.
32:40I really like the top of this.
32:42I like that white kind of rabbit fur jacket.
32:45And I sort of like the bottom, that kind of crazy asymmetrical skirt.
32:49But somehow together for me, it doesn't work.
32:54It's sort of borderlining to me on, like, rich party girl.
32:58But it also, it borders a little bit on someone who might walk the streets.
33:04That's how I feel.
33:05It's terrible.
33:06But it's, like, kind of bordering those two things.
33:08So it doesn't feel wealthy to me.
33:10It feels a little gaudy.
33:12Mondo.
33:13Hi.
33:14Tell us how you got your inspiration for this look.
33:17Well, I think when you play with clothes as an actress, you have your secrets.
33:21So her secret is this idea of this old smoking jacket that she had from, like, her dad.
33:26You know?
33:27And then she pulls everything else together from different places in the world where she's been.
33:32She's so sexy in a crazy kind of passive-aggressive way.
33:37Do you want to see the dress?
33:38Yes, I want to.
33:39Sutton wants.
33:40Sutton would like to see the dress.
33:41Wow, that's really good, too.
33:43Can she do a little spin?
33:44Really good with flats.
33:45Beautiful.
33:46Ooh.
33:47What's so great is the layering of the fabrics.
33:50I imagine that chiffon alone would not look very nice.
33:52It's the sparkle underneath, so you get the richness.
33:56If anything, you've got to just refine the length where her foot hits.
34:00That's your problem area.
34:03Well done, Mondo.
34:05So, Cara, how did you come up with your look for your rich woman?
34:08In the beginning, I tried to make her really precious, and I was going to do a maxi skirt.
34:12But then I imagined her just being, like, almost nasty.
34:17I love the red pop of the skirt.
34:20Yeah.
34:21I think it's really beautiful.
34:22However, the silver bow in the front gets very bulky.
34:26That's taking away from her richness.
34:29This is the best you've done, I think, for me.
34:32I do feel it needs to be developed a little bit.
34:34It needs to go further.
34:35You need a little bit more time.
34:37They're just these little tweaks that are needed that throw me.
34:41For example, you've got a little bit of an issue at the back with the slit.
34:45It's sort of going off at an odd angle.
34:47So, I think the ideas are really good here.
34:50They just needed resolving, if that makes sense.
34:53No, of course. Of course.
34:54Thank you, designers.
34:56You may leave the runway while we have a little talk.
35:02What a great challenge.
35:04Seven very different looks for one character.
35:07Let's start with our favorites.
35:09Michael.
35:11This almost reminds me of the Chiquita Banana Woman.
35:14Is that weird?
35:15No, that makes sense.
35:16Oh, that makes sense.
35:17Yes, it does.
35:18You know, I thought the mixture of fabrics was very clever.
35:21I think it was clever the way he used the top of that slight reflective quality that picked up the chartreuse, which made it all work together.
35:28He had the good sense to throw on these purple shoes, but then he tied them up with, like, matching ribbons around the feet.
35:34He said, oh, did you notice?
35:35No, we didn't notice.
35:36Right?
35:37It's like...
35:38I liked that.
35:39As much as I like it and I like looking at it, it just doesn't feel specific.
35:42I don't feel like I really know who this character is.
35:48Mondo.
35:49A lot of times in this competition, we look at each other and we go, look, you know what?
35:52That was 24 hours they had to work on that.
35:54So, squint at it and, you know, okay, we like it.
35:58In the case of this dress, that could have taken, like, two weeks, because it really looked gorgeous.
36:03His looks always come out, apart from last week, where I don't know what happened with that bag.
36:08Me too.
36:09But normally, you really feel he knows his woman.
36:12My only criticism, just the length, that to me, you know, looks a little unresolved.
36:20Should we move on to Austin?
36:22I loved his inspiration in Marie Antoinette.
36:24I love that as well.
36:25And it really followed through.
36:27True.
36:28And I could see the performer dancing in this and performing and expressing herself in it.
36:33Yeah.
36:37So, let's talk about our least favorite looks.
36:39I'd like to just go directly to Mila's look.
36:42She looks like she uses drugs, this girl.
36:45I'm sorry, but that is what she looks like.
36:46Sutton, as an actress, could you show this outfit?
36:50For a different type of character, definitely.
36:53The only thing I keep thinking of is, like, pretty woman before she gets pretty.
36:58I mean, I don't mind the top of the look.
37:00I think with the right skirt, it would be okay.
37:04It would be safe.
37:08Cara, you mentioned that this was her best challenge, and she's still on the lowest list.
37:14I thought it was her best challenge to date, but I didn't like it.
37:17I applaud her for trying to push herself.
37:23There's a proportion issue and a color issue here that it's almost good, but it's not.
37:33Let's talk about Kenley.
37:34What she took from the challenge about it being vintage, and that's so her that I was a little disappointed.
37:40That's all she heard, unfortunately, was she didn't continue to listen about how this is a rich woman.
37:47Right.
37:48If it worked and it was vintage, we'd be thrilled.
37:50Yes.
37:51It just doesn't really work as a outfit.
37:55So have we all made a decision?
37:56We have.
37:57Okay.
37:58Designers, your looks were very theatrical.
38:10But were they big enough for Broadway?
38:13Tonight, one of you will be going home.
38:22Designers, your rich woman looks were a lot of fun.
38:25But only one of you can win.
38:28Michael.
38:30You're safe.
38:31You can leave the runway.
38:38Mondo.
38:39Austin.
38:40One of you will win this week's challenge and receive your Broadway debut as a designer.
38:46And that designer is...
38:52Mondo.
38:53Congratulations.
38:56We loved your look.
38:57Yes.
38:58Thank you so much.
39:00Congratulations, Mondo.
39:01You may leave the runway.
39:03This way, coming off the last week, was so validating.
39:06Like, it's amazing.
39:09Did you win?
39:10Yay.
39:11Did you win?
39:12Yes, I did.
39:13Yay.
39:15Austin, it was a very tough decision.
39:17We also loved your work.
39:19You're through to next week, and you may also leave the runway.
39:22And it was lovely meeting you, Ms. Foster.
39:24Same.
39:30Congratulations, Kinley.
39:31You're also safe.
39:33You can leave the runway.
39:34Mila, Cara, one of you will be in and one of you will be out.
39:46Mila, you're a master of geometrics, but this time you didn't quite pull it off.
39:52Cara, we're really proud of how you designed and stepped out of your comfort zone this week.
39:59But again, your construction was off.
40:10Mila.
40:11You're safe.
40:16I'm sorry to say, Cara, you're out.
40:22Mila, thank you.
40:23You can leave the runway.
40:33Cara, thank you so much for being part of All Stars.
40:36You're a very talented designer.
40:40These are always the things we go from.
40:42Truly, thank you.
40:43Take care.
40:45I don't know that this was the best challenge for me.
40:47I gave all that I had every time.
40:52It's okay.
40:55You're an artist.
40:57You're a loving mother.
41:02I just want them to be.
41:04They're so proud of you.
41:06I've learned how much I've grown over the past five years.
41:11And I've also learned how much more growing I have to do creatively.
41:14It's been a really, really special time for all its ups and downs.
41:17And I'm just really, really grateful for the experience that I've had.
41:20Next on Project Runway All Stars.
41:27This week we've come to the world headquarters of the United Nations.
41:31I'm really excited.
41:32I'm not a geography major.
41:35Are you convinced you can stand out?
41:39He's going overboard.
41:40This looks a little bit like a national costume.
41:42Why is she still here?
41:43It's disturbing to look at.
41:45I think that would look better on a Christmas present.
41:48It's just screaming beauty pageant.
41:50I get communism from this dress.
