00:01Previously on Project Runway Austin...
00:03There's only eight designers left and three international designers.
00:06You will shop for three daytime separates
00:09and transform them into one nighttime look.
00:15Something's not right.
00:16I'm not usually this indecisive at all.
00:18I feel something shorter would be better.
00:20What about that says nighttime?
00:23Guys, be respectful to other people who actually has work to do.
00:27I think it's just very disrespectful to other designers.
00:30Include the dot?
00:31It's strange to see Sean helping Christina
00:33when he has a mediocre dress sitting there.
00:38I love what you're doing.
00:39It's so incredibly flattering.
00:41This is the girl that I want to be.
00:42She looks so badass. I love it.
00:44This week's win is...
00:46Vidal!
00:48You're like, I wanted to do something on trend
00:50and that's where you've gone astray.
00:52The vest is frumpy. It's late for me.
00:54The eliminated designer is...
00:56Cynthia.
00:57This is Project Runway All-Stars.
01:10My dear friend Cynthia went home last week.
01:13Christina and I are the last two international designers.
01:17I really have to push myself all the way to the win.
01:20Everyone is competition.
01:22Getting this close and tripping on my feet scares the shit out of me.
01:27Mmm.
01:31Hi.
01:32Hi.
01:33In the high-paced world of fashion, social awareness about gender has finally become an open conversation.
01:41Artists from Marlena Dietrich to Boy George to Jaden Smith have played with society's expectations of gender.
01:50So, gender neutral fashion is the theme of this week's challenge.
01:55Gender neutrality to me as a designer means that you can create an outfit that will look great on either a guy or a girl.
02:02This is where fashion is going. Gender is so passe.
02:05Your challenge is to design gender neutral, high fashion street wear.
02:10I come from a men's wear background. I work in women's wear. I often use my men's patterns on women's body.
02:15So, I'm quite happy to work with this challenge.
02:19Your professional models are new this week. Male, female, or non-binary.
02:26They represent the spectrum of gender identity.
02:29So, that means you will sketch and shop for your design without knowing the identity of your models.
02:36The only thing you will know about your models is their measurements.
02:40At first, it's sort of a shocker and it's intimidating, but, you know, when you step back and think about it, it's sort of a relief.
02:47You're just gonna design an outfit.
02:49You will meet your models in person later today for fittings.
02:52I love the idea of gender neutral clothing. What I'm not excited about is I don't know who it is.
02:57And there's a connection that I like to have from seeing someone and I kind of look at them and say,
03:04okay, this would work on them. So, it does influence my design a little bit.
03:08Your budget is $200 each for fabric at Mood and your high fashion streetwear designs walk this runway tomorrow.
03:16I'm really excited about this. This is what I do with my own brand.
03:20So, I really need to grab this challenge by the balls.
03:23Good luck. Thank you.
03:31What are you making?
03:32A hoodie dress.
03:33When I think of streetwear, I think of what I'm gonna wear every day.
03:36I'm designing this, like, really cool kind of, like, hoodie jacket, but then something that's, like, really sheer underneath.
03:45I want there to be a sexuality, but also to be really casual.
03:49In Oregon, where I'm from, when you get your driver's license now, you can either get an F on it for female, an M on it for male, or an X.
03:58Oh, that's great.
03:59So, being gender neutral. So, I think I'm gonna play around with the X.
04:03Yeah, yeah. All I ever do is gender neutral streetwear.
04:07I'm making a pair of jeans, a high-waisted, baggy, kind of cool fit jean.
04:12Very raw denim, untouched, needs a washing, so it's still really stiff, but you get that architecture out of it.
04:18So, I'm making some jeans and a white T-shirt.
04:23Very imaginative.
04:25Yeah.
04:26I'm sketching this deconstructed suit that's gonna be kind of one-shouldered, and it's gonna have, like, this harness so that it can be, like, adjustable.
04:34It's gonna look cool on a guy or a girl.
04:37I was in the bottom last week. The judges told me that they didn't see me in this look.
04:43So, it just means that I've got to show more of me going forward.
04:47I really want to create a coat, you know, covering the body but making it look sexy.
04:52And I think that I do that really well.
04:54What are you gonna make?
04:56Trench coat.
04:57Just a coat?
04:59Just a coat.
05:01What if the judges tell you to take the coat off?
05:04It's a coat dress.
05:06Ooh.
05:07You can't take it off.
05:08I like that idea.
05:09Yeah.
05:10All right, guys. We've got 30 minutes to shop.
05:12Go!
05:13Go, go, go!
05:15My whole concept is this kind of cool pant short, and I would love to do this exaggerated metallic brocade bomber jacket to go on top of it.
05:26The fabric's expensive, so I'm gonna have to be stingy with my budget.
05:30How much is this?
05:31I'm gonna make a T-shirt out of a lace that is typically used in a gown.
05:35I think there's something really interesting about men's street wear made out of evening wear fabrics.
05:40It's like a woodland scene, yeah?
05:42I know I'm gonna use floral prints, because floral tends to be seen as being very feminine, even though I totally disagree with that.
05:50Hello, guys.
05:51Here to tear your store apart.
05:53I head upstairs, because I know I'm doing a jacket.
05:56That's where their sort of heavier fabrics are, and I also want to make a complete look, and I'm making a leather pant, because I think it's another universal item.
06:04I definitely don't have any experience with gender-neutral clothing.
06:07I usually do very feminine clothing, but I've always had men ask me for jackets, so how great would it be to design one universal jacket?
06:16Can you press this?
06:18I want to kind of create this trench coat.
06:21I want to have something structural, but light.
06:24I'm looking for an interesting textile, so I find this faux leather.
06:29It's in silver, it's out there, and it's a bit risky, but I think it's very modern.
06:35Five minutes left, everyone. Five minutes.
06:48Oh, shoulder pads.
06:49You better hurry, girl.
06:50Ten seconds, Sean.
06:51Shoulder pads.
06:52Where the **** are the shoulder pads?
06:54Two.
06:55Shoulder pads.
06:56Five.
06:57Four.
06:58Three.
06:59Two.
07:00Mother ****.
07:01That's time.
07:02I get them in time, and the world is saved.
07:04These shoulder pads are going to make me win.
07:07Thank you, Mood.
07:09Let's get our lift, guys.
07:10Shotgun!
07:11Don't sleep.
07:12There's our lift.
07:13Leaving Mood, I feel okay.
07:15It's expensive fabric, and I wasn't able to buy a whole lot.
07:19Hopefully, I've got enough yardage for the actual look.
07:34All we have is a few measurements of the model, and we're all trying to figure out what we're
07:39going to do.
07:4031-inch chest, 25-inch waist.
07:44This is a boy, for sure.
07:46Hmm.
07:47Born a boy.
07:49High five nine.
07:51Five nine, what's your five two, what's your measurements?
07:55Five ten.
07:56Hmm.
07:57Yeah.
07:58Irina's talking to Dimitri, and Dimitri and I have kind of started to go separate ways,
08:03but Badal and I have become really close.
08:05Anthony, Ryan's still here, so I'm focusing on that.
08:08Yeah, mine's kind of tiny.
08:10Oh, but it's...
08:11Six four?
08:12How tall?
08:13Six four.
08:14That's crazy.
08:15Six four.
08:16Hope I bought enough fabric.
08:18There's really no going back to mood to buy more, so I've got to kind of figure out what
08:23is the best option here.
08:25Six four.
08:26This is a sticky, tricky situation.
08:31Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
08:35It looks like someone took a shotgun to someone in a hotel room.
08:39It's really schlumpy.
08:41Mm-hmm.
08:42I don't know if she's going to like this material or if she's going to go, looks like
08:46grandma curtains again.
08:47Wow.
08:48Oof.
08:54Oh, but it's...
08:55Six four?
08:56How tall?
08:57Six four.
08:58That's crazy.
08:59Six four.
09:00I wanted to make a pair of shorts, but I ain't got enough fabric.
09:05I am going to have to scrap the bottom.
09:07This is what I have the most of.
09:10Not being able to fully execute my look right off the bat is extremely frustrating.
09:15Got to problem solve the out of this.
09:17I got enough fabric to make a jacket.
09:19So I am going to kind of concentrate on that and pray to God that it's a look.
09:32Yeah.
09:33Can I take a measurement from you?
09:34Yeah.
09:35Is that all right?
09:36It depends what you want to measure.
09:38Dimitri is six one, which is the same height as my model.
09:41So I'm like getting my resume tight.
09:43Cool.
09:45No problem.
09:46How tall are you, Dimitri?
09:47Six one.
09:48So let's all dress me.
09:50That'll be interesting.
09:51You can be my fit model today.
09:54I'm too expensive for you.
09:57I'm going to the JCPenney accessory wall and I find the most amazing boots ever.
10:02They have this really chic gold heel on them.
10:05Very gender neutral heel.
10:10What are you dying?
10:11That hoodie.
10:12I haven't been able to do any of my painting or my artwork on garments yet.
10:16And I think now is the time.
10:18It looks like someone took a shotgun to someone in a hotel room a long time ago and they were
10:23just peeling the wallpaper off now to find the evidence.
10:28I think it's cool.
10:33Hi designers.
10:34Hi.
10:35What a great runway you had last episode.
10:37Congratulations Vidal on your win.
10:39Now onto this week's challenge and gender neutral street wear.
10:42I'm excited we're doing this on Project Roaming All Stars.
10:45And I'm really looking forward to seeing what you're doing.
10:47Dimitri.
10:48I am.
10:49Tell me what you're thinking for your gender neutral look.
10:50So I'm making a trench coat.
10:53How is this going to turn into a trench coat?
10:55I have no idea.
10:57I don't see street wear.
10:58I don't see gender neutral.
11:00I see void of sexuality from another planet, intergalactic, takeover from somewhere.
11:08I don't know.
11:09I don't quite see the trench coat yet but I think the trench coat is in desperate need of
11:12being made exciting.
11:14It's kind of going to be, it's like this half jacket with a harness.
11:17It feels a little like, gets a little S&M-y but business.
11:21And I got this really bright colored thread to have this kind of like long.
11:25Do you do all those colors or just?
11:27I'm going to like select a few but I want it to be quite colorful like the rainbow.
11:30Um, and have them like long like hanging out of it.
11:33I love the idea of the rainbow but I don't know that you need the rainbow to make the statement.
11:37It's really important to get the details right.
11:39Uh huh.
11:40Okay.
11:41Tell me about what's going to be underneath.
11:42I'm doing a leather pant to go underneath.
11:44Okay.
11:45And probably like a relaxed shirt, t-shirt type.
11:49Irina's coat's pretty cool.
11:50I don't like the fabrics that she's used but I think the construction and like that oversized,
11:55you know, thing is really cool.
11:58In some cases this season you've benefited from toning your looks down a little bit.
12:03And this case I actually miss your sense of color and flair and excitement.
12:08Uh huh.
12:09It doesn't really scream Irina to me either.
12:11Okay.
12:12I was kind of playing with this idea of an exaggerated bomber trench.
12:16I don't know what Anthony Ryan's doing.
12:19Like the same colors that he's used before.
12:21It looks like wallpaper from where I am.
12:23I think it's great you're using color.
12:24Okay.
12:25At least a little bit of color.
12:26Right.
12:27For this challenge she needs to be shying away from color which I think is a mistake.
12:30Okay.
12:31Just because it's gender neutral doesn't mean it's neutral color.
12:33Right.
12:34I actually like dressing gender neutral myself so the fabric is what makes this so exciting,
12:39right?
12:40That is really cool.
12:41Hi.
12:42The gender neutral t-shirt original.
12:45It's like t-shirt.
12:48I really don't like Padel's look.
12:50Like it's just the hot mess.
12:52It's so ugly.
12:53I've got a long shirt in this maroon organza and then a oversized t-shirt and then I have
13:04a jacket.
13:05A jacket?
13:06I do.
13:07It's a little wet right now.
13:08Do you want to come see it?
13:09I would love to.
13:10I don't know if she's going to like this material or she's going to go looks like grandma curtains
13:13again because I keep getting grandmother's curtains.
13:16Wow.
13:17So super grandma wallpaper.
13:19Oof.
13:20What's going on over here?
13:22Basically it's like a kimono coat.
13:24I'm going to put like a piping through the seams and down here as well.
13:30It's just, it's really kind of schlumpy.
13:33And it also just looks like it's going to cover everything up.
13:36Yeah.
13:37And I'm just worried, you know, last week Cynthia got in trouble for hiding her best
13:40work under a coat.
13:41Gender neutral doesn't mean you're hiding your gender.
13:43Mm-hmm.
13:44I just think this look is kind of boring.
13:46The mental sessions, you have to make this decision like, do I listen to it or do I just
13:50follow through with my own vision?
13:52And I think Christina is having that internal battle right now.
13:55You've got a lot of work to do.
13:57Designers, you're all season winners.
14:00And each one of you has won a challenge so far this season.
14:03I think that meeting your models and talking with them is the thing that's going to inspire
14:08that extra little spark that I think each one of your looks needs.
14:11Good luck.
14:12Thanks, Anne.
14:16I really respect Anne's opinion, but the judges,
14:19the judges have asked me to show myself and this is me.
14:24This time I think that I want to stick to my guns.
14:31Do we know what time our model's coming?
14:34Hopefully soon.
14:35It's always challenging to work with a new model, I mean, before you meet her,
14:40because the measurements are very different and you want to get the vibe,
14:44because whatever you make has to work on your model.
14:48Hello.
14:49Hello.
14:50I'm so excited to meet you.
14:51How are you?
14:52Good.
14:53What's your name?
14:54Mika.
14:55Mika.
14:56Nice to meet you.
14:57How are you doing?
14:58I'm Sean.
14:59Sean.
15:00Sean.
15:01Oh, very close.
15:02What's your name?
15:03Rodney.
15:04I'm Christina.
15:05Nice to meet you.
15:06It's like an oversized take on a hoodie slash coat.
15:09What's your name?
15:10Mika.
15:11Nice to meet you.
15:12Nice to meet you.
15:13What pronoun do you like to use?
15:14I know I'm a girl and my family and friends know that and I'm not going to correct everyone.
15:19Yes, only because you're not trying to offend me or say it in a mean way.
15:23I'm cool, isn't it?
15:24Right.
15:25Very cool.
15:26Anthony Ryan's model is Anthony Ryan's twin.
15:28And it's really adorable.
15:30They look like the old movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito.
15:34Sorry, Anthony.
15:35You're the DeVito.
15:36I'm glad I left extra seam allowance.
15:38Tell me a little about yourself then.
15:41I transitioned about like two years ago.
15:43Oh, awesome.
15:44Knowing that she transitioned from male to female, I'm going to try and make it a little bit more
15:49femme than I was maybe going to originally make it.
15:52That's cool.
15:53Yeah, there he is.
15:54There he is.
15:55I couldn't be more happy with my model.
15:57I'm ecstatic.
15:58This is the best challenge ever.
15:59Amazing.
16:00I would actually rock this.
16:02Like this specifically?
16:04You would rock it?
16:05Yeah.
16:06That's the best thing to heal because it means that they're going to feel natural in
16:10it.
16:11So I think that's the best thing that I've heard all day.
16:13Do you prefer wearing heels?
16:14I do.
16:15Then you got the right designer.
16:17What's your normal street wear?
16:19Like when you're going out on the street.
16:21Long, big tees, like just jeans, dots, leather.
16:26Lots.
16:27I wear tons of leather.
16:28That's what you're wearing.
16:29Yeah.
16:30Hilary and I are cut of the same cloth.
16:31We wear the same clothes.
16:32So if I make this garment the way I would want to wear it, I think it's going to come across
16:37really well.
16:38Let's go look in the mirror.
16:39Here.
16:40Come with me.
16:41My model has a very small frame and I want the coat to read powerful.
16:46So I'm trying to like build up the shoulder a little bit.
16:50I think it looks really, really cool.
16:53All righty.
16:54Bye again.
16:57Have a good night.
17:01How are you doing, Dima?
17:02I'm okay.
17:03How are you doing?
17:04I'm all right.
17:05After working with my model, I'm feeling insecure about my design.
17:09At this point, I might have to compromise certain things and that's what scares me the
17:13most.
17:14You finished?
17:15Pretty much, yeah.
17:16I'm 99% done.
17:17I love finishing things.
17:18We work the same way.
17:19We like look at it, cut it, make it.
17:22Irina and I are really good at all stars.
17:24I don't think we have time to try to like plan it all out and think about it twice.
17:27Like think later.
17:28I mean, I don't think it's that we're not working hard.
17:29I think we're just working smart.
17:31Ten minutes left, everybody.
17:33Ten minutes.
17:38I'm doing this detailing of taking safety pins and doing X's all over the top of it for
17:43being safe and being neutral.
17:47I still have so much to do on this.
17:49We're almost at the end of the day and I'm still working out problems.
17:53Do you need help with anything, Anthony, in the morning?
17:56I'll work it out.
17:57Thanks, Sean.
17:59I'd rather go down in flames on my own.
18:02All right, guys.
18:03Time is up.
18:05My biggest fear is to go home on something that I know I could achieve better at.
18:11I just want to get at a place with my look that I can breathe a little bit.
18:15Because right now I'm not breathing.
18:19You're welcome.
18:23Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
18:25Dimitri's never been in the bottom before.
18:27I think for this look it's about time he goes down to the bottom.
18:30Christina's on my machine because Irina's on hers making an outfit for herself.
18:35It's bull****.
18:45How's it going, Cosima?
18:47I cut my sleeve and sewed it in last night and I f***ed it.
18:52I've got lots to do.
18:53I've got to sew the cuff to the sleeve and then the sleeve to the shirt.
18:57I've got to hem my pants.
18:59I also have to put the piping on the shirt as well.
19:02So, I've got lots.
19:08Good.
19:09Good morning.
19:10How are you?
19:11Good.
19:12How do you feel?
19:13I love this.
19:14It's amazing.
19:15I'll come grab you when I need you.
19:16Okay.
19:17Does that sound good?
19:18I mean, I've just accepted the fate that I'm going home.
19:21I just want to be somewhat happy with the look.
19:24Irina, what are you making?
19:26Another minion dress for yourself?
19:28Obviously.
19:29If I have a spare few hours, I'm done.
19:31I have some leftover fabric that I didn't use and I like it.
19:35I don't want it to go to waste so I just whip up like a little dress for myself.
19:41What are you making now, Irina?
19:42A dress out of this fabric I like.
19:45So, Irina's done early and she's in the brother sewing room making herself a dress,
19:50but she's on my machine.
19:52I just need to use that machine, Irina.
19:55Okay.
19:56I think that, you know, if you're done and people are working, you don't go on their machine.
20:02Like, I think if you have a brain, like, you know that's not the right thing to do.
20:06Um, Michelle, I'm two seconds away.
20:09Okay.
20:10No worries.
20:11You can keep going.
20:12No, it's more just because Irina isn't working on her actual garment.
20:17It's none of your business what I'm working on.
20:20It's like, why are you my boss?
20:23Christina's on my machine, but Christina's on it because Irina's on hers, not making something for the challenge, but an outfit for herself.
20:32It's bull .
20:34There's another black machine right there.
20:36Yeah, all my stuff's here, though.
20:37No, girl.
20:38You find a new machine.
20:40We're not making t-shirts for ourselves.
20:42We're making something for the challenge.
20:44It doesn't even occur to her that she should get off the machine.
20:46Like, it's common sense.
20:48Like, that pisses me off so much.
20:50I can't even explain.
20:51You're finished, so we may as well use the machines for the people who haven't finished.
20:56There's, like, so many free machines, but just because Christina's not finished, I can't be finished and actually, like, doing something else.
21:03Like, it's crazy.
21:04Get the off my machine.
21:08People are so petty.
21:14Really kick it to the side.
21:16Like, is that pants staying up?
21:19Yeah.
21:20I'm loving Vidal's look, and his model has some swag.
21:24He's working that.
21:26Hi, how are you?
21:31So, it's very, like, minimal, which is my aesthetic.
21:35So, I tell the hairstylists in the Umberto Beverly Hills hair salon to define the curls a little bit, and I think that'll look great.
21:42It's amazing.
21:43I love it.
21:44I would love to do a center part and kind of bring it low across the face.
21:48We'll use the Umberto Shimmer Spray, and we'll give it a nice shine for you.
21:52Brilliant.
21:53We want her to have a lot of power, but still remain naturally beautiful.
21:58Butter London makes a gorgeous brow tan.
22:02Perfect.
22:03We're gonna use the Double Decker mascara.
22:05Yeah.
22:06Really define those lashes.
22:08You love?
22:09Perfect.
22:11Ten minutes, everybody.
22:12Ten minutes to runway.
22:14Let's see you with your hands in your pockets.
22:16Yes.
22:17The jacket is done.
22:18It's not to the level that I want it to be, but overall, I think it's a great concept.
22:27Cute.
22:28Okay.
22:29We are good to go.
22:30Sean's look is stunning.
22:31It's feminine.
22:32It's masculine.
22:33It's all the things in between.
22:35I think Sean Kelly should win this challenge.
22:37It's so cool.
22:38Dimitri's never been in the bottom before.
22:40I think for this look, it's about time he goes down to the bottom.
22:43The dyeing on Michelle's coat, I actually think it looks like blood stains.
22:48Like a murder thing.
22:50Irina's look looks like it's made for a woman.
22:54We're supposed to be gender neutral.
22:56No, it's ugly.
22:57Turn to your right.
22:58I think some of these designers are confused by the challenge because I'm seeing a lot of
23:03weird asexual space suits.
23:05Gender neutral does not mean never having sex again in their life, okay?
23:09You can be non-binary and be really hot walking down the street.
23:12That is time, everybody.
23:13Time to go the runway.
23:15Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars.
23:21You made a pant not knowing what kind of body you were going to be fitting.
23:25That is the measure of an all-star.
23:27It just looks very futuristic Martian.
23:30Visually, it's terrible.
23:32Oh.
23:34The winner of Project Runway All-Stars will collaborate with JCPenney on a capsule collection
23:38as part of the Project Runway line to be sold at select JCPenney stores and online at JCP.com.
23:44An editorial and photo spread in Marie Claire Magazine and a position as guest editor for one year.
23:50The opportunity to create a signature nail color and an inspiring trip for two to London, England
23:55from luxury makeup brand Butter London.
23:57A selection of brother sewing and embroidery machines valued at $40,000.
24:02And to elevate their business and build their brand, a cash prize of $100,000.
24:07Hi.
24:08Hi.
24:09Nice.
24:10Well, hello, designers.
24:11On Project Runway All-Stars, we celebrate freedom of expression in every form.
24:23And in the spirit of being all-inclusive, your challenge this week was to create gender-neutral
24:30streetwear.
24:31Here are tonight's judges.
24:33First, co-founder and designer of luxury brand Marquesa, Georgina Chapman.
24:38Hi.
24:40Next, one of the most iconic names in American fashion designer, Isaac Mizrahi.
24:46And our guest judge is an accomplished actor.
24:53They are one of the stars of the global phenomenon, Orange is the New Black.
24:57And they are the first non-binary gender-identifying actor to play a non-binary gender-identifying character
25:05on TV in billions.
25:07Both the character and our guest use the singular pronoun, they.
25:12Please welcome Asia Kate Dillon.
25:15Hi, designers.
25:17This week's winning designer receives $5,000 from Southwest Airlines with a modified look
25:22available immediately after the runway on JCP.com.
25:26Our models tonight represent the spectrum of gender identity.
25:29So I can't wait to see the streetwear you've designed for them.
25:33Have a great show.
25:36Very cool.
25:40I definitely think that this could be a top look.
25:43It definitely reads like high fashion streetwear.
25:47She looks cool.
25:49I'm really happy with it.
25:57The proportions are great and it's who I would want to be.
26:03I love my safety pins.
26:05The way the dye bled out into these really warm tones looks pretty stunning with the short dress that I have underneath.
26:12I love my coat.
26:22I know my model loves it.
26:23It's just really fun and street and luxe.
26:24I love the whole look.
26:25I hope I'm on top for this challenge.
26:26I really like the way she looks and the way she like sells the piece.
26:38I think she looks very striking.
26:39It's very modern and I think it's great.
26:51He looks really cool.
26:52He looks really cool.
27:04He looks like a cartoon character.
27:05Everything's really linear and graphic.
27:07He's really comfortable so I really like it.
27:11I couldn't have asked for a better model.
27:22He looks chic.
27:23I want him to turn on every man and every woman in the room.
27:29Take the money and run.
27:30Take the money and go.
27:31My model is selling it.
27:44It feels a little oversized but I think conceptually I got there.
27:48It's like me as a fashion sketch.
27:55Designers, this week you will all receive a critique except for one of you.
28:02And that designer is safe.
28:05This week the safe designer is Bedell.
28:12Better to be safe than on the bottom.
28:15All right.
28:16You guys have been safe, safe, safe, safe, safe, safe, safe.
28:19And it's pissing me off.
28:21I want to win.
28:22Designers, one of you is the winner of this week's challenge.
28:26And one of you will be eliminated tonight.
28:37Michelle, tell us about your gender neutral streetwear.
28:40I wanted to play with floral and do something artistic as well as celebrate the place that I'm
28:44from.
28:45Oregon just passed a law that when you get your driver's license you can choose M for male, F for female or you can choose X.
28:51So I did these little X's throughout with safety pins to add a little bit of glitz and did some hand dyeing and it's my girl.
28:58Georgina?
28:59I didn't peg this as yours at all.
29:01Yeah.
29:02Which I quite like.
29:03Okay.
29:04I love the color mix and I really liked the print and the use of the feminine with the florals.
29:09The proportions are banging.
29:11I love the idea of this kind of sheer dress.
29:14I like this a lot.
29:15I feel like it looks really easy to wear.
29:18High fashion sometimes misses the market.
29:20Like looks great but you can't get into it or you can't sit down.
29:23This looks very comfortable.
29:24I love it.
29:25Can I come see what the sleeve is doing?
29:28It's open seam so you see the floral coming through underneath.
29:32Oh that is so cool.
29:33Same thing on the sides.
29:35Oh and a military zipper which I love a military zipper.
29:38Okay.
29:42Michelle you're so good.
29:43Oh thanks.
29:44Hi Sean.
29:45My streetwear look was kind of inspired by Wall Street and then a leather bar as well.
29:50So I kind of just wanted to play with chopping up a masculine suit, mixing it with femininity
29:55and just really wanted to play with proportion and cut and create a really cool vibe.
29:59As stunning as that is, it's like another cliche about pinstripes.
30:05It just comes across as a little dull for this week.
30:08I think if I walked into a clothing store and they had a section that was labeled gender neutral,
30:15that's sort of what I would expect to see and to me the expected part of it is what is disappointing.
30:20I know it's something we've all seen before but it's something I've always personally liked.
30:26Could you do a little spin for us?
30:28I love the length in the back.
30:30I like the crop in the front.
30:32I just think you've got some interesting ideas.
30:34I got exactly where you were coming from as far as the business with the bondage.
30:40I love the white shirt under it.
30:41I think you did a really nice job.
30:44Irina, you are next.
30:46I always go to like a big, cozy, comfortable jacket.
30:50And how do I make a unisex jacket and also like have it be a pea coat, a hoodie and a sweater?
30:58Not just gender neutral, just a neutral item that you just love.
31:02Visually, it's terrible.
31:05Yours is so gorgeous to look at but I feel rigorously thinking it doesn't work for me.
31:11This, I don't like the proportions.
31:13I don't like the textiles.
31:15What if you were to wear it like a fur, sort of off your shoulder?
31:18Well, that's more interesting.
31:20Asia.
31:21You went ahead and made a tight pant, a fitted blouse, not knowing what kind of body you were going to be fitting.
31:28And that, I think, is the measure of an all-star.
31:31I love that this was a true homage to street wear with the big oversized jacket and the hoodie.
31:37And I think you look absolutely gorgeous.
31:39I feel like you feel good in what you're wearing right now.
31:42Our opinions all over the place.
31:44I don't see you in this at all.
31:46It's gone a little bit junior-y.
31:48So, stick to yourself and think more Irina.
31:51Anthony Ryan, it's your turn.
31:53My whole concept was based around jeans and a t-shirt, which to me is very gender-neutral,
31:58and this whole idea of a cool trench jacket that you would throw over it.
32:02This coat benefits a great deal from the luck that you had in drawing America.
32:08That is a piece that you would make to hide in, except it's so bold and so graphic that you can't miss it.
32:15It doesn't read masculine.
32:16It doesn't read feminine.
32:17It really just reads like a fabulous garment while somehow managing to be high fashion.
32:22I've seen this from you in the avant-garde challenge.
32:25You did a coat very similar in silhouette.
32:28So, that was a little disappointing.
32:30My critique would be that I would have loved to have seen something a little floaty and feminine maybe underneath.
32:37Okay.
32:38Demetri, you're up next.
32:39So, my major inspiration comes from the trench coat.
32:42Then this idea of criss-cross came from gender-neutral.
32:45You can actually undo and it's kind of a belted coat.
32:50And then I wanted to inject some sex appeal into it, so I opened the back.
32:56You always make flawless clothes.
32:58I mean, you're so polished.
32:59I actually much prefer it open.
33:01I'm not sure about this criss-cross.
33:03100%.
33:04To me, this is a much better, more palatable silhouette.
33:07I think if you take the buttons off this coat, it would completely change the whole character of it.
33:13There's something about the buttons that just make it like this little design.
33:16This whole look in a different fabrication would be giving us a totally different opinion.
33:23I think you intended it to have some reflective quality for the runway and to really make impact.
33:28Whereas on the runway, it just looks very futuristic Martian.
33:32I simultaneously love it and also think it is costumey.
33:37If I wanted to do sort of a Bowie moment and go to a fabulous party and evoke that era, I would totally wear this.
33:43Thank you, Dimitri.
33:45Christina.
33:46I've created a kimono sleeve coat and these jewel-layered relaxed trouser with this open shirt.
33:55And it's about this relaxation and, you know, still this chic appeal that I wanted to convey.
34:01Christina, I love this look so much.
34:05I really do.
34:06I love this white cotton under the pants.
34:09These exaggerated long sleeves.
34:11And he looks amazing.
34:13I love the color blocking in this.
34:15You work with neutrals in such a graphic way.
34:18And it's very elegant and it's very beautiful.
34:21I love the fact that the shirt is cut open.
34:24Had it been on a cisgendered woman, someone assigned female at birth who identifies as a woman,
34:29it would have had the same physical statement as it does on this model, which I love.
34:34To me, that is achieving the goal of what we say is gender neutral.
34:37I want those pants.
34:39They probably won't fit me, but they're gorgeous.
34:42Made to measure.
34:43You'll have to guess because no one's getting a tape measure around the nether regions of my body.
34:50Thank you, Christina.
34:51Thank you, designers.
34:52And a special thank you to our models this week.
34:54The judges and I will now deliberate and we will call you back soon.
34:58You can wait in the backstage lounge.
35:00Hello, lonely boy.
35:09What happened?
35:10Christina's definitely top, we know that.
35:12And Michelle, I think definitely as well.
35:15Then me and Dimitri are hanging out downstairs.
35:18By the balls.
35:19Yeah.
35:20By the balls.
35:21I'll show you around, I've been here a lot.
35:23Is this your first time in the bottom?
35:25In my three seasons, that's the first time for me being in the bottom.
35:29But I love what I did, so even if I get to go home today.
35:33If I get to.
35:34Well.
35:36I think the thing that I loved about this runway more than anything was the conversation.
35:40It was a great runway today because I think it came from so many perspectives.
35:44The ones who really think rigorously came out the best.
35:48Like what Isaac said, there are visually stunning elements on the runway today.
35:52So nice to have Asia here for this conversation too.
35:55Yes.
35:56Let's start with our high scores.
35:58Between our three favorites, Anthony Ryan's has the most humor and sex appeal.
36:03It's so visually stunning.
36:05Whoever is wearing this is making a statement.
36:08I can't allow Anthony Ryan to win this challenge.
36:10You can't allow.
36:11I gave him a super low score.
36:12I'm with you, Alyssa.
36:13All right.
36:14I didn't, no.
36:15We saw this in the avant-garde challenge.
36:17It was the same silhouette to me.
36:19Michelle's look.
36:22The colors worked.
36:23I love the print.
36:24Michelle had the most interesting color story and fabric choice.
36:28I love the idea of the floral.
36:30Not knowing who you're going to design for and saying, I'm going to do floral.
36:33Isaac, I was saying to you earlier, you're wearing floral.
36:34I'm wearing floral.
36:35It's like flowers are neutral, so to speak.
36:36Right.
36:37And they are everything.
36:38They're not nothing.
36:39That's why they're neutral.
36:40When she started talking about doing the little safety pins as symbols, that just went so sort of young.
36:45It just sort of reminds me of what I would have done with an army jacket when I was 15.
36:52Christina.
36:53I want those pants.
36:55That's the best thing we saw today.
36:57These pants, they've got the billow of a skirt.
36:59This jacket is almost like a dress.
37:01And also, again, this just very delicate cutout in the front of the shirt that goes all the way down, which I love.
37:07It's unexpected.
37:08But is it just Japanese pajamas really executed beautifully?
37:12There are millions of, like, old intellectual Jewish ladies who've been wearing Japanese pajamas to remain neutral and be smart.
37:23Who's in the bottom two?
37:24I think Dimitri should be in the bottom two.
37:26Dimitri and Sean?
37:27Yes.
37:28So Irina's safe?
37:29I know she got a low score, but she was the one person who dared to use high heels.
37:36And a pant.
37:37Tight pants.
37:38Tight pants.
37:39Yes.
37:40Sadly, it didn't look very good.
37:41I think even though the coat is the statement piece, I would have rather actually just seen the pants and the shirt walk down.
37:46Yeah.
37:47Because then you get the effect of, ah, clothing for anyone.
37:53Sean's look.
37:54We're divided on this.
37:55It looks like something I've seen about 4,000 times.
37:57He just reduced the whole conversation down to pinstripes.
38:00I love a pinstripe.
38:01I do too.
38:02I just wish, I wish it was a pinstripe ball gown or something.
38:05I liked it.
38:06I would wear it.
38:07I identified with it.
38:08I really didn't like the halter aspect.
38:11The strap under my armpit that's going to chase my skin.
38:14One long sleeve that covers up most of the front and then like a sleeveless arm.
38:19What season do you wear that in?
38:21Let's talk about Dimitri.
38:25I really like Dimitri's clothing.
38:27I'm getting a sense of the body.
38:29The back is making sense to me.
38:31Nothing drives me crazier than buttons that don't work.
38:34If you take the buttons off, it's like 40% better.
38:37Yeah.
38:40Have we made our final decision?
38:42Yes.
38:43Okay, let's bring them back out.
38:51Designers, one of you is the winner of this challenge.
38:55And one of you will be going home tonight.
39:04Christina, Anthony Ryan, and Michelle.
39:07One of your looks has won its designer $5,000.
39:10And that designer is...
39:17Christina.
39:21Thank you so much.
39:22Congratulations, Christina.
39:25And Anthony, Ryan, and Michelle.
39:28You guys can leave the runway.
39:30Yay.
39:34I'm really happy because I was in the bottom the week before.
39:36And the winner is...
39:42Congratulations.
39:43Congrats.
39:45So to go from the bottom straight to the top is like...
39:4815,000 in the bank.
39:50Yeah.
39:51So I've got to get you guys a round of drinks.
39:53Yeah.
39:56Arena, you had a low score.
39:58But your look has kept you safe.
40:00You're through to next week.
40:02You can leave the runway.
40:04Dimitri and Shawn, unfortunately there has to be an elimination tonight.
40:13You're both deserving winners of your own seasons.
40:16But only one can remain on All-Stars.
40:20The eliminated designer tonight is...
40:23The eliminated designer tonight is...
40:34Shawn.
40:40Dimitri, we will see you next week.
40:43You can leave the runway.
40:44Shawn, thank you so much for joining us on All-Stars.
40:49You will always be a Project Runway winner.
40:53It's been a great season.
40:56Nice to meet you.
40:58Bye guys.
41:00Good luck.
41:02I really loved my look today.
41:04And I really believed in it.
41:06I never really got into the groove this season.
41:09Shawnee poo.
41:11I was very like up and down and up and down and the skill level was so high.
41:16Alright guys.
41:17Bye Shawn.
41:18Bye Shawn.
41:19Project Runway All-Stars was an amazing experience and I'm never gonna forget it.
41:27Next on Project Runway All-Stars.
41:29Our top story this week is climate change.
41:33Your challenge is to design transformational resort wear.
41:37It's gonna be stormy.
41:38You ready?
41:39This is a truly dream of the rain.
41:40Back to the studio.
41:42I just don't know anyone who would wear denim pants to the beach.
41:47Is another blue dress gonna win this challenge?
41:54You've executed this beautifully.
41:56It's like a couture snuggie.
41:57Definitely need the plunging neckline.
41:59That's all star thinking.
42:07And that's all for the.
42:08It's like a big day.
42:09The day we came up with metal.
42:10It's like a blackalı dress.
42:11Okay.
42:12Oh.
42:13Let's go.
42:14To the next time.
42:15Let's go.
42:16Get out of the blue dress.
42:17I like a legal dress.
42:19It's good.
42:20Let's go.
42:21Yes.
42:23Go get out of the blue dress and it's good.
42:26The whole thing.
42:27Where are we now?
42:28It is.
42:29There's two different ways that we have.
42:30The сюда and a black pants.
42:31There's a big star.
42:32It's just like a yellow dress.
42:33Yeah.
42:34The next one.
