00:00Here at Street Concepts, it's hard to dodge the enthusiasm.
00:09Because for the next seven days, it's a 71 Mopar that's getting the business.
00:13To some gearheads, it's Mopar or no car.
00:16Like the General Lee here, one of the most famous Mopar stars ever to zoom across the screen.
00:21And now it's time to build another star of a Mopar.
00:24All happening here at our shop of shock and shine, where the owner gets tricked and the car gets tricked out.
00:29Accepting the challenge of charging up a chewed up challenger.
00:32Right now on Overhaul.
00:34I am gasoline.
00:41That's right.
00:42I am gasoline.
00:46That's Chris.
00:47That's Courtney.
00:48And that's James, the long time owner of a 1971 Dodge Challenger.
01:04A beaten old muscle car that needs some muscle and a whole lot more.
01:08And that's Stephanie.
01:09She's James' wife and one of our insiders.
01:11She's the authority on all things James.
01:14She's going to give us the what's, the who's and the where's when it comes to our Mopar freaky mark.
01:18And that's James' dad, Jim Senior.
01:21He gave James the car as a graduation gift 11 years ago.
01:24And now we're going to school him on how to build a cool custom challenger.
01:28At the moment, James and Stephanie are sharing her car, so the lift begins as our hidden cameras catch the missus taking our mark off to work for the day.
01:41We got the garage door opener.
01:43We got the keys.
01:44I think that's all we're going to need.
01:45Let's do it.
01:46All right.
01:47All right.
01:48Taking candy from a baby?
01:49This is way easier.
01:50Try nabbing a ride from an unguarded garage when it's all been laid out for you.
01:54And me being a Mopar guy?
01:56Oh, man.
01:57For yours truly, this was one sweet pinch.
02:02Uh-oh.
02:03Chris is doing donuts in the parking lot and this woman over here is yelling at us to get out of here.
02:06Little does she know we're with overhauling and we just stole James' car.
02:10There's the beast and after this seven day challenge, it will be a funeral.
02:17Arriving home, Stephanie acts up a storm with Chris as Detective Hagberg.
02:21So how much does James love his car?
02:23Well, he's named it Doc and now it's time to tell James about Doc.
02:27Hello?
02:28Honey, it's me.
02:30Hi.
02:31I got home and Doc's not here.
02:35What are you talking about?
02:37I got home and I don't know if I left the garage door open or what, but he's not here.
02:44Oh, my God.
02:46Honey, where are you at?
02:47I'm at home.
02:48There's a detective here with me.
02:50I talked to him.
02:52Hello, James.
02:53Yeah, what's going on?
02:55This is Detective Alan Hagberg.
02:56I got a call from your wife saying that you guys have a car missing.
03:02Oh, my God.
03:03Yeah, that's like my son, dude.
03:04I love that car more than anything other than my wife.
03:07I'll be in touch with you later on today.
03:09All right.
03:10Thanks.
03:11Okay, thanks.
03:12Bye.
03:13Are you an actress?
03:14Give me a high five.
03:16Give me a high five.
03:17She was great, but there's no acting here.
03:20We're truly thrilled to get this ride to our hideout.
03:22All right.
03:23Well, there she is.
03:24James' 71 Challenger we just stole from Rancho Cucamonga, and now we're here in Huntington
03:28Beach, California at Street Concepts.
03:30We're ready for the seven-day challenge to begin.
03:32Let's go inside, meet the A-Team, find out what Foose and the guys are up to.
03:36My own.
03:37I love Mopar.
03:38Sean Williams is a builder who brings big skills to any set of wheels in the shop.
03:44Tim Heron works Mopar miracles until the car's ready for the racetrack.
03:48Phil Wilson has the ability to make a mundane Mopar go from lousy to wowsy.
03:54Mopar vet Aaron McDonald is going to help customize James' tired and tattered old ride.
03:59John Hopper is on the project, and he's the guy you want when it's got to be right, ready,
04:03and raring to go.
04:05Tracy Tishner is one knowing and highly accomplished car dude.
04:08Jason Garrett is an automotive whiz who has seven jam days in his immediate future.
04:13And the car isn't the only challenger that's here today.
04:15Team Captain Chip Foose is going to put this crew through a test like they've never been tested before.
04:20Front, back, under, and over.
04:23The A-Team inspects the green monster.
04:29And it's not a bit.
04:30A lot of Mopar guys are fanatics, so Chip has a pre-warning.
04:35Now none of you Mopar guys out there get upset when we start altering this car.
04:39On the alarm, we have ATS coming in.
04:47Yes, Gary will be doing that.
04:49Delegating duties and assorted assignments, Chip and the A-Team divide this car into parts.
04:55Are all you guys as excited as Chris is to rebuild this Mopar?
05:00Mopar, baby!
05:01I love Mopar.
05:06Mopar stands for all the great cars from Dodge, Plymouth, and Chrysler.
05:10And legend has it that the term came from the words motor and parts.
05:13Mopar lovers are special guys, and to see just why James is so completely in love with Doc,
05:18you have to know a little bit about the Dodge Challenger.
05:21The idea of the Challenger goes back to the mid-60s, when the men with Mopar minds set about to give the Ford Mustang a run for its money.
05:28No big surprises yet, just yet, but the day is still young.
05:40Taking a Mopar apart is a very delicate process, because most of the stuff needs to go back on the car, because Mopar parts are very hard to find.
05:49Oh God.
05:51So Stephanie, if you could describe James in three words.
05:57A comedian, loving, and he is dedicated.
06:02He deserves it because he left all his family and friends in Sacramento to put me through school here.
06:07He has nobody here, and to give up his dad and his grandparents and everybody just to put me through school.
06:14He was in a job that he loved, and he gave that up, so he's the best guy in the whole world.
06:18So why is this car so special?
06:20It was a gift from his dad for his high school graduation, and him and his dad are like this.
06:25He's very sentimental.
06:27I mean, he would never sell his car.
06:28He says that he's going to be buried in this car.
06:30I'm like, what about if we have a son?
06:31No.
06:32He can get his own car.
06:33Back at the breakdown, this car is well on its way and far past the point of no return.
06:38We're very carefully getting rid of all the silicone and sealer gum so that the window can come out and not be damaged because this is not replaced.
06:50There we go.
07:05Down goes the dash.
07:07It only took us an hour to get this thing out of there.
07:09One hour, but who's counting when we're having fun pulling it all apart?
07:13Getting ready to pull the motor out.
07:15With the car now in a million Mopar pieces, it's time to give our mark a tap on the shoulder.
07:27It's Detective Hagberg calling.
07:30Oh, dude, did you find my car?
07:32I wish I had the good news for you, but unfortunately I haven't.
07:35But I have been doing a lot of legwork today to try to find it.
07:40It's green?
07:41Yeah.
07:42It's not that awful sublime green, is it?
07:45Yeah.
07:46That's what I always liked about it.
07:48That's what you liked about it?
07:49Was that it was green?
07:50Yeah, it was always different.
07:51It's because it always stood out.
07:53It's been the worst day of my entire life.
07:56I can sympathize with you being a Mopar guy myself.
07:59I know the special love that we have for those kind of cars.
08:02It was a gift from my dad for my graduation from high school.
08:06I can't even call him right now.
08:08I can't even talk to him.
08:13I appreciate it, man.
08:16It's going to be a...
08:18Oh, man.
08:19All right.
08:20Well, I hate to leave you in this condition, but I got some other calls I have to make.
08:24Yeah, that's all right.
08:25I appreciate it, man.
08:26Okay.
08:27Thanks.
08:28Bye-bye.
08:30Have you ever seen a grown man cry?
08:34Phone calls are over and bodywork begins.
08:37Sanding, grinding, welding, and hoping with all our might that we don't run into any problems.
08:42But, of course, there just had to be something hidden under all that lime green paint.
08:47I got a little Bondo in the project.
08:49Took out about three quarters of an inch.
08:52Fender was fixed right on the car.
08:54So, I mean, it's a setback, but it's not going to be bad.
08:58Oh, one more call to make.
09:00Courtney and Stephanie are going to phone James Sr., letting our Mark's presently unaware dad in on all the action.
09:06Well, James thinks that Doc has been stolen, and it has not been stolen.
09:14I took it.
09:15He's on a television show, and they're going to redo the car, but he can't know about it.
09:19Well, I'm sorry that we're going to put James through a week of torture, but I think it's worth it when he gets a little piece of heaven at the end.
09:25I'd love to pick your brain on what you think James would have wanted to do to his car.
09:29Absolutely.
09:30Great.
09:31Wonderful.
09:32Coming up, will Chip be able to make the car cool and keep that color James is so wild about?
09:49On day one of overhauling James' 71 Challenger, we stole James' 71 Challenger and brought the distraught Dodge to our healing headquarters here at Street Concepts in Huntington Beach, California.
09:59We tore the car apart, we stared at the pieces, and we realized, wow, this ride needs a lot of work.
10:04So our A-team of gearheads and car freaks dove into the deep end and started the massive makeover of this messed up Mopar.
10:10All right, it's day two, and Stephanie's here to check out the car.
10:15Oh my gosh, it doesn't look anything like yesterday.
10:18No.
10:19How's James doing?
10:22He's not doing good.
10:23He talked to his dad this morning.
10:25His dad was crying, so he almost started crying.
10:28So senior, Milky, is being just as good of an actor as you are of your actors.
10:33Oh yeah.
10:34Yeah, he's doing great, so.
10:35Going along with it.
10:36He's going along, and James is completely bummed out.
10:39Has no idea.
10:40He won't eat.
10:41He's hardly sleeping.
10:42He's just like in this little pout mode.
10:44Hopeless.
10:45He doesn't think he's getting the Mopar back.
10:47No.
10:48So Stephanie, what do you think about the quality precision work that we do here at Rondo?
10:58A little scary right now.
11:00Yeah, well, precision's what it takes, and what's more precise than a big heavy hammer?
11:06Our next step in the prank is going to be to roll this thing outside and make it look like it's in a chop shop.
11:11Oh my God.
11:12Take some pictures of it, and then I'll show those pictures to him.
11:15Yeah, he's going to cry.
11:16Yeah, he's going to be very bummed out.
11:18Let's roll!
11:19And roll is what it's doing, out of the shop for some sunlit hijinks.
11:24Stephanie and Courtney look on as we men prepare the madness.
11:28Sorry, James.
11:29The guys go to town with a little spray paint and some neon green masking tape.
11:33We hide the fact that we've been working on the car.
11:36Stephanie, why don't you come over here, because we're going to let you take the photos, actually.
11:40So it's extra special.
11:41Alright.
11:42Take that.
11:43I know it's going to hurt for you to see these pictures, but it's all going to be worth it in the end.
11:55We're getting it ready to put the power steering box on.
11:58Right.
11:59It's going to be a lot faster ratio, quicker steering.
12:01It'll be a little bit more like a, you know, performance car now.
12:04So, in doing so, we need to strengthen everything up to take the extra torque from the fast ratio gear box and the wide tires that Chip has planned to put on the car.
12:13Excellent.
12:14Alright.
12:15Alright.
12:16At this point in time, we've got 90% of the old paint taken off.
12:18We've got all the old grease cleaned off.
12:20All the gaskets are ordered and coming.
12:22New timing chain.
12:23To close the business today, we should have her all cleaned up and ready to start putting it back together.
12:28Time to meet the Mark's dad, James Sr.
12:31Oh, wow.
12:32Look at this.
12:33Oh, that's too cool.
12:34Oh, man.
12:35This is too cool, you're saying?
12:37Yes, it is, because I know what's going to happen.
12:39It's going to be neat.
12:40This is Chip Foose, Jim.
12:41Hi, how are you?
12:42Nice to meet you.
12:43Nice to meet you.
12:44Yeah.
12:45So you came down that quick?
12:46Yes.
12:47Does James know you're down here?
12:48No.
12:49Oh, good.
12:50Oh, no.
12:51He knows nothing.
12:52Are you staying?
12:53Are you going to help us?
12:54Yes.
12:55I know.
12:56I want to be part of it.
12:57He wants to be part of cool stuff like this, custom wheels by Chip, spun into reality by
13:01Aaron Youngerman.
13:02Like that.
13:03Studying the rally look that wears well in a Mopar, Foose both creates it new while keeping
13:08it classic.
13:10So it should end up looking about like that when it's all done.
13:16As he starts designing the paint scheme, Chip looks at photos of the car, putting his ideas
13:21down on paper.
13:23Whether Chip personally wanted to go with that green color or not, he somehow did two pretty
13:28cool things.
13:29He went for a shade that is clearly James' favorite.
13:32And by cutting it all in half with the graphic, he somehow made that color into something incredibly
13:37stylish.
13:38I want the car to have a Mopar feel or a graphic that looks like it could have been a stock graphic.
13:53So I'll pay homage to what Chrysler did back in the 60s and 70s.
13:57Trying to do something new that's different and unique.
14:00What I'm doing right now is just roughly figuring out the spacing of what these graphics could
14:06be.
14:07You never know until it's all done what it's actually going to be.
14:12All right John, so we just got a big shipment from Summit.
14:16We've got the Hooker Super Competition headers to replace the old ones.
14:21Year one and Summit came through with oil pan, alternators, all the march pulleys, all the
14:27bracketry.
14:28Everything will get put on today and if it all fits and we like it, we get it all set up,
14:31we'll strip it back down and get it ready for painting.
14:33Look at the picture.
14:34There's the concept picture.
14:35Let me see.
14:36Let me see.
14:37Ooh, that's cool.
14:38So Stephanie, you said you had a rough night.
14:40Yeah, and then he's just moping around and he doesn't want to eat and he's really sad
14:44and he's trying to make me cry and it's just, you know, it hurts to have to, you know,
14:48it's fun to prank him but like being there, it's...
14:51This is tough.
14:52Yeah, it's hard.
14:53This is tough.
14:54Day three, evening, car's going to paint.
14:57This is amazing because it's actually really early in an overhaul and build for the car to be rolled
15:00into paint.
15:01As you can see, Foose has got the graphics laid out on the side of the car.
15:05Chip, now exactly, what are you doing right now?
15:07You're taping, taping some...
15:08What I want to do is I'm going to take a ballpoint pen and pull an outline around this tape,
15:13finalize that graphic and then use this as a pounce pattern.
15:18Let's give James a call.
15:19We're going to give him a little bit of false hope.
15:21Hello?
15:22Is this James?
15:24Yes, it is.
15:25Detective Hagberg.
15:26Oh, hey, how are you doing?
15:27Good.
15:28I'm actually in a good mood right now.
15:31Believe it or not, one of my guys saw a lime green coupe on a flatbed rolling into a garage,
15:40which we've suspected for quite a while as a chop shop.
15:43Get out of town, dude.
15:44I will not get out of town.
15:46Oh, my God.
15:47Dude, you are like God right now for me.
15:51Wow.
15:53Tomorrow in the morning, we're going to take some photographs of the garage.
15:58My partner is going to have these photographs and I'd like him to meet with you so he can show you these photographs
16:05so we can get a positive identification on your car before we try to take this place down.
16:10Okay, sounds good.
16:11So that's a little bit of good news.
16:13I hope that eases your stress a little bit.
16:15You just freaking made my whole year.
16:18Okay, James.
16:19Awesome.
16:20Awesome.
16:21I'll talk to you tomorrow then.
16:22Okay.
16:23Thanks.
16:24Bye.
16:25Let's roll it out.
16:26Here at Fix, Chip and the paint gang look at a gang of paint chips trying to find the perfect neon green.
16:40Not finding exactly what he needs, Foose mixes up his own concoction.
16:45Chip mixes two variations and Courtney and Craig Chaffers check out the colors.
16:49Then Chip dabs him on the car surface seeing how it looks in the light.
16:53All right, it's 9.30, day three.
16:55Fix Auto is going to get this ready for primer.
16:57I've got a color.
16:58I'll go to BASF.
16:59We'll mix up all the paint.
17:00We'll get back here tomorrow and hopefully get this thing ready to come back to the shop.
17:04Coming up, it's high emotion as James lays eyes on the photos.
17:08On days two and three of pulling a changeover on James' Challenger, the car was the main course and the prank served up as dessert as our insider Stephanie kept us hip to her husband's mood, manner, and most of all, his madness.
17:31Now that's a long way of saying that James just isn't the same guy without his beloved 71 Dodge.
17:36And now, as day four begins, we have to keep reinventing this ride.
17:39Because if James has been without his hot car for that long, it's high time for the guy to graduate into the car seat of something special.
17:46As day four begins, Todd here at Fix gets ready to make with the primer.
17:52All right, James, we're ready here to get a first coat of primer.
18:01With that layer of gray, we are officially covering up the old car.
18:04And with that second coat, a new surface is a step closer.
18:08Day four already.
18:09These guys over here at Fix Auto have been kicking some serious butt.
18:12The car is pulled out of the booth to sand it down before the last coat.
18:16They get rid of the imperfections, making it ready for the final gray spray.
18:20Todd goes around a third time and covers it good.
18:23See, this paint job is no quickie.
18:25It's the real deal.
18:28And then it's time for an all-important wet sanding.
18:32All right, this is Rusty, general manager of this Fix Auto store.
18:35You guys here have been working hard.
18:37Now, why do you think they're so passionate about this?
18:40Why do they want to be doing this?
18:41Um, they're car guys.
18:43So they're doing this for the love of cars, love of Mopar, love of overhauling.
18:47Exactly.
18:48All right guys, let's roll it in.
18:50Do it!
18:51Yeah!
18:56So while the color starts to appear on the site, Chip is getting his graphics ready.
19:03And now it's on to the door jams and the trunk.
19:07And here to check in and check it out is our insider, James Sr.
19:10And dad hangs out to see the first layer of silver hit the body.
19:17What I'm doing is I'm putting little tiny pin holes in the paper where the lines are.
19:27And then what it will do is we'll put this back on the car and I'll take some powder and a sock and I'm going to hit this.
19:32And what it's called is a pounce pattern.
19:34Because what it will do is transfer all these little dots will be transferred onto the paint and just powder.
19:40And then we can lay out our tape lines, pull the powder off and then start painting.
19:45All right, 4.30 a.m. day five.
19:50We've got the graphics laid out.
19:51Todd's going to spray the black.
19:53We'll tape that off, get the green sprayed, pull it off, clear it, get a back street concept, start assembling.
19:58It's back in the booth for a blast of black.
20:11Oh, it's looking great now.
20:14Yeah, they got the black on and we're getting ready to put the green.
20:18It's going to look awesome.
20:19Just absolutely awesome.
20:20Our insider stays in the booth into all that masking.
20:24While Foose is busy goofing off as usual.
20:27Good golly, it's finally green on the scene.
20:35And what does Foose think?
20:37I think it's green.
20:38Hey, good enough for us.
20:40Okay, let's get all that tape and masking off.
20:42Pronto.
20:43Oh boy.
20:44All right, it's 8.30 in the morning, day five.
20:47Getting this thing untaped.
20:49Clean up a couple of the edges.
20:51Get some clear on it.
20:52And we'll be out of the fix.
20:57I think he's going to be speechless when he sees this.
21:10Jimmy, you lucky dog.
21:14Stephanie, you did well.
21:15You did well.
21:16Now that the paint is finished, Doc is on his way back over to Street Concepts.
21:20The design of the paint scheme is original and still pure 71 Challenger.
21:24And if you don't believe me, just listen to our resident Mopar maniac.
21:28I love Mopar.
21:29That's beautiful.
21:30This is Stephanie's first time seeing the new paint job.
21:35What do you think?
21:36This is amazing.
21:37What do you think James is going to think?
21:39He's going to freak out.
21:41I don't even think he's going to recognize it.
21:43All right, let's get this thing off the rack and back in the shop and start getting it back together.
21:47Okay, Chris, enjoy it while you can, because that's one Mopar that you'll probably never get your hands on again.
21:53Jimmy, check out the new ride.
21:56Hallelujah, I love Mopar.
21:59Let's get this thing rolling.
22:00Get it reassembled.
22:01Come on, baby.
22:02The hood comes off and the parts start going on, both rebuilt and brand new.
22:10The guys at Fix Auto got this car painted in a hurry.
22:13It's exciting when we get it back this early because we can really focus on our attention on a lot of the details of the car.
22:19So that's a good thing.
22:21Coming up, we're going to get a glimpse at James' state of mind.
22:32On days four and five of this overhaul in Odyssey, we motored on with the engine, gave body to the body,
22:42and most importantly, put in hours that you can only find at your nearest nonstop telethon or 24-hour convenience store.
22:48And now as day six zooms up the track, we've got to switch from simple no lead to premium.
22:52Because if we're going to put James back in his Challenger in a couple short days,
22:55we're going to need some high octane in the team tank.
22:58Sean runs Street Concepts here, and at the moment, the guy is gauging up the gauges.
23:05We've got the old gauge cluster here. As you can see, the speedometer needle's not quite working.
23:10Actually, none of the gauges work coming in, so we are retrofitting the whole dash with these brand new auto meter gauges from Summit Racing.
23:19And now it's a dash to dish up the dash.
23:22We can see right through this next move with the glass giving us installations that are clearly in view.
23:29I'm here with Douglas Howington. He's going to be playing a cop in today's prank.
23:36He's going to be showing James some photos of his car.
23:38You can tell he's a cop because he's got some mirrored sunglasses on.
23:41That's right. Okay, cool. Okay, you're on.
23:44The marks arrived, and it's showtime.
23:48James? Yeah. How are you doing? Good. How are you?
23:51Detective Howington. Pleasure to meet you. Good to meet you.
23:53Good to see you. How's your day been going so far?
23:55I'm just trying to get through it, man.
23:56Well, let me reassure you, man. We have some of the best detectives working on this case.
24:00So the chances are really good we're going to get your baby back.
24:02Really, really good. But let me ask first that you look at these pictures and let me know if this is your vehicle.
24:08Let us know we're on the right path to getting it back, okay?
24:11Okay. So check these out.
24:12Show them the pictures right now. Yeah.
24:14What do you think?
24:17Yeah, that's my car.
24:18Are you absolutely positive that's it?
24:20Oh, yeah, because somebody keyed my car.
24:22Oh, goodness. That's, yeah.
24:25When you purchased the vehicle, was it this color?
24:27Yeah, it was that color.
24:28That's an ugly color. Do you really like that color?
24:31Oh, I love that color.
24:32Do you? What color is that? Like, what kind of green is that?
24:35It's like sassy grass green. It's like lime green.
24:37Sassy grass?
24:38Yeah, I think that's the color they call it.
24:40Does the Gap have t-shirts and sassy grass?
24:42I once left a girl on a date at the mall once because she didn't like my car.
24:45That's how passionate I am about this car, man. It's like my son.
24:49Goodness. So you are a . That's your vehicle?
24:51That is my car.
24:52I'm pretty positive some white guys stole this car.
24:54You know, black guys are stealing, like, Cadillacs and Mercedes Benz, you know, cars with street value, not mopeds.
24:59Not a bar, not a moped.
25:02Looks like it really hurts, man. How long have you had the vehicle?
25:04A little over 11 years.
25:06Goodness.
25:07My partner is going to get back in contact with you and let you know what the deal is with the sting and everything.
25:11And we're going to get your baby back, man.
25:14I wish my dad was here, man.
25:16Yeah.
25:17My dad's the one who gave it to me, man. I would break his heart, man. That's what he's doing to me.
25:21Is he? Wow.
25:23Wow.
25:24I can't even describe how devastating it's been. You know, I mean, it's...
25:28I would love to find out who it was that took my car, man.
25:31Right, right.
25:32I think if you get him, maybe you can set something up and just kind of leave me alone with him for a few minutes.
25:36Well, you're not going to get me to incriminate myself with that.
25:39But thank you so much. Thank you for your time.
25:41I appreciate it, man.
25:42Thank you for coming out and looking at the pictures, man.
25:43I really do.
25:44All right. James, you want a little alone time with me, huh, buddy?
25:46All right. I might make that happen.
25:47But by the time you meet me, you're not going to want to beat me up. You're going to want to kiss me.
25:51He's still parked about 100 feet away from us right now. He's on his phone, probably calling his dad to cry to him. Poor guy. I almost feel for him. But not really.
26:09Heads up, everybody. Big wheels are rolling in.
26:12We've got the one-off set of Foose wheels, 19s and 20s. We have good rich tires.
26:18On they go as Chip clues us in.
26:21That's the original Chrysler wheel. Done in a 15 inch. That's a 19 and that's a 20.
26:31Aaron did a gorgeous job on these wheels. I'd even run this on my Camaro.
26:38I'll push the wheels in another half an inch and raise the back probably an inch.
26:44On behalf of the entire A-Team, Sean wants the lowdown on our Mark James.
26:49I think the minute he got in the car, he dialed me up on the telephone and at first all I could just hear was like this.
26:55I couldn't really understand what he was saying because he was crying and I tried to ask him what was wrong.
27:00And he said, you know, my baby's stripped. And I'm like, did you cry in front of the policeman?
27:05And he's like, no, I kept my composure. But, you know, now that it's just you and me, he was crying.
27:10All right, I'm here with Mike from Advanced Mobile Systems. This is a sick setup you got going here. Tell us what's going in.
27:16Well, right now I put, we put the fiberglass box inside and two 10-inch subwoofers in there and this will provide the base.
27:24So tell me how many watts of power are going to be total in this car?
27:27We'll be putting about 2,000 watts of power in here.
27:30That's it? 2,000? Is that going to be loud enough?
27:33I think it'll be very loud.
27:34Is the glass reinforced with titanium? Is he going to be able to turn it up past like two?
27:38What I'm doing right now is from the center line of that backup tail light, putting a straight line.
27:47And we're going to trim this out where the exhaust is going to come through that balance.
27:52Oh boy, we're in these final stages and Chip is busy cutting up the car?
27:55Coming from this guy, what else would we expect?
27:58Yo foos, as long as you're under there, how about a little pawn action?
28:02Got the whole thing done.
28:03That's our boy.
28:05All right, we've already mocked up the stainless exhaust system here.
28:08So now Shane and Adam will weld it all together.
28:14All right, it's the end of day six and looks like it's only me and Shane left here.
28:20Looks like we've got a long night ahead of us.
28:23A long night and a lot of work.
28:27Coming up, Doc is ready to rock all around the clock.
28:30On day six, it was a six-part plan.
28:45Finish the car, complete the ride, get it done, make it final, end this craziness, and most importantly, put the final touches on James' 71 Dodge Championship.
28:55All right, I'm here with Shane.
28:58It's morning at day seven.
28:59Shane, what's going on?
29:00You look a little tired.
29:01Me and Adam work wide open all night long.
29:04Yeah?
29:05How many hours have you been up?
29:06Since nine o'clock yesterday morning.
29:08Nine o'clock yesterday morning, so it's about 25 hours that Shane's been up straight.
29:12This is my favorite part of the show when Shane gets to that sleep deprivation edge and he can't really think and I can see his mind working in devious ways when he's going to try to play a practical joke.
29:26You're like, that's the one time I can see through your deception.
29:31But before they can take a nap, Adam and Shane make final tweaks to the exhaust system.
29:37And now we go from under the car to inside the ride.
29:40All right, we're here with Pete at Westminster Auto Upholstery and we got a set of summit seats and we got the year one door panels.
29:49We got to wrap these and get them in the Challenger.
29:52I did a sketch here of what I'm thinking we can do.
29:55I just wanted to add a little bit of what's going on with the graphics of the car to the upholstery.
30:00With a piece of chalk, Chip literally draws out his idea on the seat.
30:05All right, no problem.
30:07I did the sketch for Pete's sake.
30:08Uh oh.
30:16Pete works on adding a padded insert to the center of the seat.
30:26We're stitching the bottom of the seat back together.
30:29So Pete's stitching it back up, covering the foam insert and adding some glue.
30:35He then pulls it all tight to make sure it's a wrinkle-free fit.
30:41And Pete's soon joined by our old pal Ray from Raymond Miller Custom Upholstery.
30:46We're working on the backrest.
30:48We put this green material in the existing cover.
30:52Basically doing inserts and then adding a little extra foos flare for our old bar hemblem.
31:00Yeah.
31:05John's getting ready to fire the engine.
31:07Go ahead and put some gas in it.
31:08Chip wants to see how low it's going to sit with a full tank of gas also.
31:11So we can make sure the ride height is exactly where Chip wants it.
31:15And we're just getting the wiring to the alternator done.
31:19Then we're going to put the radiator back in and turn it over, test the ignition and then we'll put some fuel in it and run it.
31:25Give me another 30 minutes.
31:33We're just getting ready to fire it up and our fingers are crossed, everything works right.
31:37That's right.
31:48Okay, button down?
31:49Yeah.
31:50And we're out of gas.
31:51All right, well Mike was just saying that it's a little difficult to move forward with the stereo audio because the car keeps going up and down, up and down, up and down.
32:00And I'm only five feet eight and this thing goes up eight feet high. I can't reach that high.
32:17Mike and the guys cover the trunk bottom with Kevlar.
32:34Then they cover and install the rear dash panel.
32:38Next, wiring up the amps and some drilling for the speakers.
32:44Wait till this gets done and we light it up.
32:46With all the panels, amps and neon in place, it's time to check the base.
32:55We're here with the ubiquitous chick boots and of course the semi-famous Dennis Rickles.
32:59You guys picking out some colors for the strikes?
33:02Semi like big, like semi-truck?
33:03Semi-truck.
33:04Semi-truck famous.
33:0518 wheel.
33:06Big rig.
33:07Good.
33:08So what do you guys get going for colors?
33:09What are you thinking?
33:10Well, that's why we got this little box here of all these colors.
33:12So we're going to get something out of it.
33:14You never know if it's right or wrong until you see it.
33:16So we'll put some stuff on and make a choice.
33:18You know, I'm the same way.
33:19I can suggest colors, but until you get on the car, you never know.
33:21Once you get them on there, you're not going to know.
33:23You think it's going to be great?
33:24You put it on and you go, whoa.
33:25Hey, whoa.
33:26Take that one off for you.
33:27What happened?
33:28Try this.
33:29Dennis is amazing because he gets here, people are going crazy working on the car and Dennis
33:33just like, like you don't even see it.
33:35You're like in between everybody.
33:36It's amazing.
33:37It's always perfect.
33:43Everything's looking good.
33:44Pin striping stud.
33:46Stud.
33:47Right there.
33:52Just how does he do it so perfectly?
33:54Well, only he's got a line on that.
33:56Meanwhile, Chris gets an insider update.
33:58Have you spoken to Stephanie at all about how James is feeling right now?
34:01Because we're giving the car back tomorrow.
34:02It's night of day seven right now.
34:04D-Day is tomorrow.
34:05He's still hurting.
34:07I talked to her this morning and he's convinced that he needs to, he's going to get the carcass
34:13back and he's going to have to rebuild it.
34:15And he's still totally in the dark about you being here.
34:17Well, he has no idea.
34:18It's going to be such a great surprise for him.
34:20Oh, this is killer.
34:21This is great, man.
34:23Coming up, our frazzled mark finally reaches the boiling point.
34:27All right.
34:28Well, it's D-Day and everyone on the team got their eighth win and Doc got a whole lot
34:45of healing of his own.
34:46Just hours from now, we're going to reveal to James his new dream Mopar machine.
34:52We've got Aaron inside the car doing the dash wiring so we can start testing the ignition
34:59switch.
35:00Up to this point, we've been jumping it under the hood to make it run.
35:03All the gauges are working, so we're pretty much good to go.
35:07All right, we just had to rob a car in the parking lot of a starter relay to replace the Challenger's
35:15ineffective one.
35:16Now we've got an issue with the voltage regulator and Mike is still making panels to cover stereo
35:20equipment in the trunk.
35:22I think that's about it.
35:31Okay, here we go.
35:32Last phone prank of the episode.
35:33I'm going to call James, tell him there's a problem and that he needs to get down here
35:37ASAP.
35:38Hello?
35:39James.
35:40Yes?
35:41Detective Agberg.
35:42Oh, hi.
35:43How are you doing?
35:44Good.
35:45We've got a problem.
35:46What's up?
35:47I need you to come down here immediately.
35:49Okay.
35:50I'm on my way.
35:51Okay.
35:53Thanks.
35:54Sucka!
35:57The kinks are out of the car and it's now time for the final touches.
36:01Hey James, all these people, they put in all this effort on this car.
36:05I'm the lucky one that gets to put my name on it.
36:08All right, we are in the home stretch.
36:10Everything's crazy in the room right now.
36:12The energy's building.
36:13The clock is ticking.
36:14I think we are just moments away from giving James his brand new challenger.
36:18Dad's looking nervous.
36:19How are you feeling?
36:20This has been an exciting weekend.
36:21Yeah, I am nervous.
36:23Hey, huh?
36:28Right on time, Stephanie and James arrive at the location of Detective Agberg's takedown.
36:36Crazy stuff going down.
36:40All right, so what happened was I came down here today.
36:42This is the Play Street Concepts.
36:44Apparently you brought your car here on the 23rd and asked him to work on your car.
36:48No way.
36:49My car hasn't been anywhere.
36:50Is it your signature though?
36:53Are you positive that's not your signature?
36:54Because if it is, we've got a big problem.
36:58Man, it's similar, but...
37:00Is this guy saying that I brought my car here?
37:01That you brought your car here, asked him to rebuild it for you.
37:04What the...
37:05All right, can you just wait right here?
37:06I'm going to go get the guy so we can finish this up.
37:07Yeah, yeah.
37:08Let's do it.
37:09So here's the deal.
37:10Sean is playing our crooked car guy.
37:11Hagberg is telling James that Sean has a document signed by James, allowing Sean to both have and work on the car.
37:25You ever seen this guy before?
37:28No.
37:29What's up, James?
37:30I don't know you.
37:31We're working on your car.
37:33No, you're not.
37:34You stole my car.
37:35Did this guy sign this work order?
37:36He signed that paper right there.
37:37I did not sign any paperwork.
37:39I have never met you in my life.
37:40What are you talking about?
37:41Two men with two different stories.
37:43Hagberg sends Sean back into his shop.
37:46Now it's time to hatch a plan with James.
37:48This is ridiculous.
37:51All right, James, this is...
37:53I've never seen that guy before in my life.
37:54This is how it's going to work.
37:55My officer here is going to put a wire on you.
37:58I'm going to bring him back out here.
38:00I'm going to have him then, about 10 seconds later, call me inside.
38:04I'm going to leave him here with you.
38:06Don't worry, that officer right there has your back, so nothing's going to happen.
38:09I want him to admit to you on a wire that he's the one who's not telling the truth here, okay?
38:14So can you wire him up?
38:15Yeah.
38:16I don't want that hidden well.
38:17I don't want this guy to know he's wearing a wire.
38:24I want to try to get to the bottom of this, you guys, because I don't know.
38:26One of you two guys is lying to me, and I'm not sure who it is.
38:29Can I talk to you for a second?
38:31What's going on, man?
38:32I've never met you before.
38:34Why are you telling these guys to...
38:36Dude, I need out of this.
38:37I need out of this.
38:39Tell them you dropped the car off here.
38:41Dude, I did not drop my car off.
38:43I'll restore it, whatever we've got to do.
38:46I build cars.
38:47These are all my cars.
38:48Dude, I don't want you to restore my car.
38:49I didn't steal the car.
38:50Somebody brought the car to me.
38:51I'll put it back to stock.
38:52Who brought you my car?
38:53These guys I know.
38:54Well, then you need to tell them who brought you the car.
38:55I don't want to tell them that.
38:56Look.
38:57Dude, I'll put it back to stock.
38:58We'll build it, whatever.
38:59I don't care what kind of cars you do.
39:00I'll fix it, dude.
39:01I'll take care of it.
39:02What am I going to do?
39:04Come with me.
39:05Come with me right now.
39:06Can you believe this guy?
39:08This guy's ridiculous.
39:10He probably gave you some story about being on a show called Overhauling, didn't he?
39:13What are you talking about?
39:15Do you think that you're on a show called Overhauling right now?
39:18Dude, what are you talking about?
39:20Oh, my God.
39:23No way.
39:25Tell me you're messing with me.
39:27Why would I have a camera right here if I was messing with you?
39:30Oh, my God.
39:37Oh, my God.
39:38I'm not even worthy of being in your presence, dude.
39:40How are you feeling?
39:41Like an airplane should just come and land on me.
39:44I've been like the last week.
39:46I was just like every morning.
39:47I was like, is this the worst dream?
39:49I'll go out in my garage and just sit there and cry.
39:51You guys are good, man.
39:53Can I see it?
39:54I don't know.
39:55Are you ready for it yet?
39:56Yes.
39:57You sure you're ready?
39:58I've been dying.
39:59James, your life is about to change.
40:03Oh, my God.
40:11Oh, my God.
40:12What are you doing here?
40:14Oh, my God.
40:16Is this too cool?
40:17How much money?
40:19Oh, my God.
40:20Come on, man.
40:21Check it out.
40:22You ran on this, too?
40:23Yep.
40:24Come on, check it out.
40:25Holy cow.
40:26New and improved dock.
40:27Oh, my God.
40:28There's no way this is in my car.
40:29Come on man, check it out.
40:30You were in on this too?
40:31Yep, come and check it out.
40:32Holy cow!
40:33The new, the new and improved dock.
40:36Oh my god.
40:37There's no way this is in my car.
40:42This is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my entire life.
40:48Oh my god.
40:53Seven days and a lot of talented dudes.
40:55All working ragged to make one of the coolest challengers the Mopar world has ever seen.
41:02Congratulations.
41:03Thanks.
41:04Oh my god.
41:05When I try not to pass out, I can't believe it.
41:08This is the most unbelievable thing I've ever seen in my life.
41:12Your dad was here all week helping me.
41:15You've been here the whole week?
41:16The whole week?
41:17This is just awesome.
41:19How you doing man?
41:20Thanks man.
41:21I can fix this guy though.
41:24This is beyond what I could have ever tried to imagine.
41:29How you doing?
41:30Thanks, good.
41:32Oh boy, you had your hands.
41:33Where?
41:34Alright.
41:38Oh my god.
41:41Help you get your parts.
41:43Good man, how you doing?
41:44You like that?
41:45Yeah, I love it.
41:47From start to finish, from beginning to end, Boos and Company put mega time and mucho attention
41:52into a car that is sure to turn heads wherever it goes.
41:59It's one for the books.
