00:35brought back to life and the pranks take on a life of their own you're not following me anywhere
00:40so get back in your office here where an oldsmobile will soon be old no more and you're just in time
00:46because seconds from now a cutlass is going to be cut loose from its owner and then it's off on a
00:51mysterious journey made clear by 10 big letters and that one lone apostrophe all working like a team
00:56to spell overhauling that's so awesome

01:14the man we're treating and fooling is mark owner of a 72 olds cutlass his wife lisa is in for one
01:31tough week working both sides as our insider mark's cutlass is one left car his father's special ordered
01:38it new back in 1972 it was handed down to mark and he has taken very good care of this ride
01:47mark's gonna be the victim of our fake version of identity theft we're leaving him a letter claiming
01:52to be from a check cashing place saying his bad checks caused the debt now being collected on
01:57while mark doesn't ride bad checks he has no debt listing his ride as collateral but that's the way
02:01we make it look like shady operators are afoot taking his car as our adventure begins
02:05all right we got the ride let's get down to the original parts group start turning apart
02:13looks pretty good from here but as the saying goes here in overhauling every car needs a little
02:17fusifying let's get our a team out here take a look at the ride come on out guys here they all come
02:23ready and eager give me your first impressions though tell me what you like about this car i like the
02:27color sweet you know what for being a car that's you know 33 years old this thing looks pretty nice
02:35inside it's all original everything's in pretty good shape go yeah go we want the car down so we
02:42can look under the hood and then the deck lit checking out a trunk even more cluttered than aj's i mean
02:47my trunk is pretty messy but this yeah this is looking like the car is the original motor in
02:54osmobile rocket 350. so how's that old rocket sounding after all these years this car definitely needs an
03:01overhaul and that's exactly what it's going to get executed by our a-team here at our secret hideout
03:07supplied by those cutlass loving dudes at original parts group ah here they come look at them all smiling and
03:13what not it's all smiles working with team captain chip boost mark's 1972 osmobile cutlass convertible
03:22he's taking pretty darn good care of this old ride wouldn't you say
03:29not bad not perfect but it is holding up
03:38these are the projects that we sometimes worry about because the owner clearly likes his existing ride
03:43complete with his junk filled trunk
03:48we've had owners who worship their old cars before and so far they've all been thrilled in the end
03:53maybe it's because no one knows how to make bold changes in the most subtle of ways quite like foos

04:11all right here we go again deconstruction time i'm ready to do what i do best is poke around and take
04:17out the weather stroke let's get along shall we mark your one week adventure begins now
04:23yeah what you find in there aj these are all automotive receipts looks like he's tried to fix the car up
04:30himself
04:33it's all right trying to figure out what we're gonna do for the stereo everyone's thrilled by the great
04:38condition of this 1972 cutlass looking excited maybe i'll be able to get a little more sleep on
04:43this bill than we have on others what's cool is that as we're taking this car apart there is a whole
04:48lot of good sheet metal on this car so it doesn't look like there's going to be a whole lot of rust repair
04:53which is real nice it's going to save us a little time be able to play with a little bit more body
04:57modifications but again we're not going to know for sure until we get it back from meteorologist
05:02he's right only time will tell if it's swell it's all coming apart pretty smoothly well for the
05:09most part every now and then a stubborn piece just wants to give a guy a fight right craig

05:20all right here is mark's wife lisa she is our insider and she's seen the car for the first time
05:26a little bit crazy i know right now
05:28he's gonna die
05:34look at her we already got her this car has been in his family for his whole life right
05:41i'm sorry i can't even talk oh my gosh i'm so blown away this is awesome he loves this car he grew
05:47up in this car and he's gonna grow old in this car because once we're done he'll love it even more
05:53in fact lisa already has a prediction he's gonna flip out he's gonna be blown away first things
06:01first lisa now needs to educate chips one of his favorite memories ever is being in the back seat
06:08being probably four years old listening to vin scully on the radio listening to the dodge game with his
06:13dad driving now his dad by the news is his dad still with us yes yes cool but he gave it to mark
06:19yes when he was 16 on his 16th birthday oh that's very cool yeah what do you know that mark wanted
06:24you do to it the only things that i know for sure that he loves is the ultimobile text on the back of
06:31the trunk and then he loves that rocket on the front for sure is he a big wheel or a small wheel guy
06:38i don't know color well he seems to change his mind a little bit and i can't keep up
06:45sometimes he wants to keep that color and then he talks about it being a little bit more intense
06:50orange color what about a two-tone on the car itself um probably more of a solid color guy
06:57and as the car goes off to blasting lisa has one small apology she wants to give mark i'm sorry i
07:03lied no you're not this is so hard you are so hard to fool this is going to beat the cake if we can do
07:12this we will do it we'll do it if our insider can stay strong for the next seven days hold the phone
07:19time for lisa to do some dialing all right it's phone prank time we're about to call your husband
07:24see where his state of mind's at are you ready i'm stressed okay just be yourself and let's have
07:29some fun okay hope he's there well he's not there lisa gets his voicemail she then calls someone who
07:36might be as upset as mark and that's his dad the original owner of the 72 cutlass what's going on
07:42no uh they took the car oh my god what did mark do like have you talked to him or tried calling
07:48he's not answering my phone but he talked to the police officer when he the police was here
07:53all we know is that a tow truck came in at 7 30 in the morning a tow truck and picked him up and took
08:01away oh my god drove into the driveway and i said hey the old's is missing and i knew right away oh my
08:10god well what's next what are we gonna do basically sit and wait okay well i'll let you go tough luck
08:18all right i will uh check in with you in a little while bye-bye okay
08:23i did a couple sketches i want to show you awesome i know you said he's a single tone guy i think so
08:29but i actually did three different two tones i like them but you like this one i like them all
08:35though yeah yeah that's usually the way it is when foos draws you end up liking everything he puts to
08:41paper but the problem is simple we're only building one car so chip works his magic right here and now
08:47for lisa he whips up a version that soon has our insider sold on a paint scheme having already convinced
08:53her that a two-tone design is the way to go i gotta say you like that one better yeah it's got
08:59some richness to it yeah it kind of seems like it fits his personality a little bit more good mark
09:05you're gonna get two-toned he is but chip's still spinning the color wheel all right it's 9 p.m day
09:12one got the car back from the media blaster it's a beautiful car the body on this thing looks
09:17exceptionally well very little body damage very little rust so looks like it's gonna be pretty
09:22smooth as far as the paint body work on the car good news so far and as that small amount of body
09:27work gets underway and the team anticipates smooth sailing on this voyage the guys know that all in
09:32all they are off to one very good start morning of day two as you can see cars torn apart best part
09:39of it car was in such great shape we don't have that much work to do although anything that can happen
09:45will happen on overhaul and what's happening now chris will tell us what just rolled in well here you go
09:50mark here's your new engine courtesy of guarantee chevrolet looks like mark's gonna go faster thanks to gm
09:57performance crate 350 puts out about 330 horsepower it's being fed by a holly series 600 single feed

10:11chip sure can draw that's for sure and the man is fast fast is right and fast is also the speed that
10:18he can change your opinion when he's more than determined to make a car cool see mark's wife lisa
10:23first thought her husband wanted a solid colored ride but foos made her see the cutlass as the
10:28perfect candidate for a two-tone vehicle
10:33well it looks like chip's gonna need to convince lisa yet again because the last time she saw the
10:38design it was a two-tone combo featuring a sharp contrast starring intense copper as the main side
10:44color now foos sees the car as champagne and white all right mark i know you're going through a little
10:49bit of hell but i hope it's worth it i'd say that's worth it all right grumpy let's see what you got tucked
10:57away in the truck whoa what's aj doing in there delivery for overhauling from original parts group thanks to
11:04all the new parts and the guys hard work the cutlass is in good shape and since it is in such good shape
11:10we're already sanding a development that has the team dancing see got most of the body work done
11:17on all the panels podcats is finishing up the suspension on the chassis looks like within the
11:21next couple hours we'll have the body back on the chassis jake's finishing the quarter panel
11:25take this thing over to mcjack's tomorrow morning get it all primed up luckily a few panels are on their
11:30way all right it's the morning of day three we're getting ready to send the car off the paint shop
11:34we're looking really good most of the body works done we're still working the fenders
11:38i wouldn't say we're ahead if anything can happen so we're going to keep working on it
11:42get it back to mark on time
11:47prankster lee calls to set up a meeting yeah mark this is mitch oaks i'm with ds collections i'm calling
11:53about your uh 72 cutlass that was impended what's going on with that i got two things for you number
11:58one i got to get 227 50 for you uh if you are not willing to do that you got to sign a dispute form so

12:30car is ready for paint are you guys ready yeah we might be rolling into an overhaul and record
12:35because it's hard to think of another 33 year old car moving this quickly into paint
12:42and now mark's face-to-face meeting hi mark hi good to see you brother here's my card i need to get
12:49from you 227.50 that's not gonna happen i'm not paying you anything because i didn't i didn't sign
12:55anything okay here what you need to do i need you to fill this out i'm not filling out anything until

14:10hit you what are we 12 we soon pick up our master prankster in an unmarked car leaving mark alone and
14:17very confused we're here at mcjack's corvettes where as you can see behind me the guys are finishing up
14:27body work and prepping the car for paint so far we're looking good and hopefully by tonight we'll
14:32have primer on this car here's jack owner of mcjack's corvettes he was nice enough to let overhaul and
14:37take over so what do you think of having us here well so far it's been a real kick and soon we'll be
14:43committing to a color scheme our insider has yet to see we're here at mcjack's corvette jack's getting
14:49ready to throw down some etching primer on the bare metal let that bake for about a half an hour and then
14:54he'll put the primer surfacer on the rest of the main body let it bake for about an hour then we
14:58start blocking this thing down and get it ready for paint good morning it's day four we're here at
15:03mcjack's corvettes in orange county the body guys are hard at work on the cutlass in the back it was a
15:08good thing that this car didn't have a lot of rust because it gives a nice head start as soon as we're
15:12done here gonna get it back to original parts group get this thing reassembled meanwhile over at bill
15:16dunn they're preserving that stock look that lisa said mark is a fan of today they're taking the original
15:22seats and they're giving those relics a whole new set of hides bringing back both the comfort and the
15:27blinding white that made our marks cutlass unique back in 1972 yeah mark really loved those white
15:33seats as a kid and now he's going to get even more white seats hey mark we got a couple of baby seats
15:39for your kids here we're going to turn them into the same pattern and same design as the original seats
15:44that you have in your car they'll be ready tomorrow meanwhile back over at mcjack's the car rolls into
15:50the paint booth for its first shot of silver the car's ready to jam jackson get the color on it
15:55we'll clear it we'll bake it we'll get it disassembled we'll reassemble the car get the first base coat
16:00color on then we'll mask it up put the second color on do a subtle fade unmask that make sure
16:05it's clean get it cleared i'd say by tomorrow night we can start assembling
16:11as we reflect back on chip's design we're about to get another peek at the stunning silver chips chosen
16:17for mark's car one of the elegant shades putting the class back into this cutlass
16:25rm and sata are part of this transformation and we still have yet to discuss a big change in the color
16:31a shift taking the copper from the side to the wheels it's a decision chip feels very strongly about
16:37he knew he wanted it two-toned and now he knows just what those two tones are it's a combo that's gonna
16:42stick so this first three quarter inch tape was just to give us the spacing from that body line
16:48the second one is actually where the two-tone brake is going to be that's going to keep the champagne
16:52covered and then we'll spray the white on there and yes i did say white where i know that when
16:57talking with lisa she had said she wanted to go with the copper color on the sides but we're making
17:03an executive decision here i think the white's going to make the car look a lot more elegant
17:07and we're going to go with the white and here's exactly why when i first looked at mark's car and
17:12and i saw that it had a white top and a white interior to me that was the soul of the car that
17:16white makes quite an impression when you get in the car especially as a kid you're going to remember
17:21that bright interior and riding around that car so i definitely wanted to keep that but i think that
17:26white as being the soul i wanted to also tie it into the exterior but not the whole thing white on
17:32white so that's why we went with this champagne gray color to split it up i want the car to look very
17:37elegant but still sporty i think bringing that copper color into the wheels it's going to make
17:41the car very very sporty elegant rich and it's still going to have that lasting impression that's
17:46you know takes mark right back to his childhood chip psychoanalyzes your love affair with your car
17:51and knows how to keep that romance alive meanwhile chris has a powwow with the great art car good friend
17:58of ours is back again on overhauling art car legendary transmission guru his shop california performance
18:04transmission is actually just down the street from our garage shared original one block away
18:09now we've got the 350 crate what are you hooking us up with 350 trance trance and converter but all
18:16the street rod guys use and that's pretty much a match made in heaven i mean this is the perfect
18:19transfer this motor right correct another match made in heaven is our a-team joining forces on this
18:24cut list with the pro builders from o'reilly auto parts okay yeah looks like tightening man tighten
18:31it looks like we're home free back with jack he's wrapping it up mark i hope you enjoy this baby we
18:41put a lot of time in it it's going back to original parts group right now they're going to put it all
18:46back together mcjack's corvettes gave you i think one of the nicest paint jobs on a heavy metal car you'll
18:53ever see and now that it's going back craig can tell us what's next for mark's cutlass all right it's
18:593 a.m day six everyone else went home to get some sleep we're going to hit it hard in the morning get
19:04this car together get us fired up tomorrow a lot of work going on tomorrow craig go home all right it's
19:12about 10 45 morning of day six we're kind of treating today like tomorrow is d-day so we can get ahead of the
19:18game and get this car done on time for mark so he can drive it out the door get some smiles going as
19:24the details are being dealt with we're gonna make the rounds checking out what's new on this ride
19:29and what some of the build teams are up to what i'm doing here is i'm pretty much closing all the gaps
19:34on the sofa for enclosure so you don't see anything else other than just the box we don't want to see
19:39any of the actual trunk we're gonna install new wood grain all along the dash and it's gonna look
19:45pretty much stock but all new and all shiny and nice thank you sheree and as the rest of the cutlass
19:52evolves chip is just outside tending to something both close to his heart and close to the ground
19:56the wheels 2 30 day six we still have a few pieces to paint so we're gonna run over to my shop and get
20:01this stuff done we've got the center grill piece and also the headlights surrounds we've got to still
20:05paint the champagne color and we're gonna do the wheels that cinnamon pearl so we're headed over there
20:11get that done get it back here and get them on it's rare to paint the wheels here on overhauling
20:16but chip wants to add that copper color in a surprising place meanwhile aj has proof that
20:20we've hooked a very live fish on the end of our line based on our prank the other day our mark mark
20:27seems to be a bit of a tough guy even to the point where he was chasing big lee but as soon as he got
20:33home he softened up a bit and we know that because of his wife lisa and she even said he went online and
20:39posted asking for other people for help here's what he said alert stolen cutlass asking for help from
20:45other cutlass olds fans i just had my 1972 cutlass supreme convertible stolen from my home in pasadena
20:51california the car is in daily driver condition and is in its original burnt orange color this car was
20:58the first new car my father ever bought and was special ordered from the factory we are the original
21:04owners and it means a great deal to me two more days mark hang in there not only will you get your
21:09car back you're going to get one foost out car of your dreams the clock says 8 30 p.m day six got some
21:16buffing going on just finished drilling the brake pedal i'm gonna get it all ready bleed the brakes
21:22so on d-day marks can be able to drive this car right on out of here but right now we gotta drive
21:28this build into high gear of course even as we buff the ride there's always time to put the old label
21:33out there and as the car gets polished we're spinning our name directly on the deck lid of
21:37this cutlass soon bringing us to the beginning of our all-important day seven it's 10 30 a.m day
21:44seven mark you're getting your car back tomorrow now what we've done is we dropped in the 442 the
21:48inset grille is much better looking now on the front bumper it had that big flat for the license plate
21:53that's been filled in and we've gotten rid of all the bolt holes and we tightened it up so it'll fit the
21:57body a little better don't forget the new engine from gm performance and guarantee chevrolet and
22:02california performance transmission did a brand new 350 turbo hydro training we've got all hotchkiss
22:07suspension we got the big bear brakes we filled off the turn signals or the side markers that you
22:12had here we got rid of the keyhole got the brand new all red chrome door handles now to me the whole
22:19soul of this car was that white top and the white interior so we kept that but i brought that same
22:24white cream color onto the exterior of the body but i want that copper color that you had on it so
22:29that's going to be a pinstripe three different tones on the car and i tied in that color onto a
22:34brand new set of 18 inch nitrous wheels you'll have the bf goodrich tires wrapping that now we got rid
22:39of the keyhole on the back deck lid which messed with the spacing of the letters we got brand new
22:44letters from the original parts group that we re-spaced so it looks like that's the way it should have
22:48come from the factory did the same thing on the rear bumper tightened it up fits the body and got rid of
22:52all the bolt holes as the glass goes in the chrome soon goes on down below with reworked bumpers and
23:03newly finished cowl moldings popping onto this oldsmobile once those bumpers are on a new project
23:09arrives from bill dunn a complicated set of machinery under a white top with a soft rear window and now
23:15that it's on here's a tip never bother a man who's armed with a glue gun the bright dudes from jng customs
23:23are finishing the covers for the components arriving for the ride by way of boston acoustics they're
23:27working to make this installation totally custom all right mark jeff's installing your new boston g2
23:34woofer here what we've done is we've actually built enclosures so they're ported into the cab of the car
23:39overhauling first for you man it's gonna be one of a kind in this car it's late day seven we got to
23:45make some changes to the wiring harnesses because we're putting a chevrolet small block into an old
23:51wheel vehicle there's always the wiring that element that rarely gets a thought even though it's as vital
23:57as the fuel in the gas tank it's often a real tangle requiring skilled guys who know how to hook us up
24:02right so almost nine o'clock we got the wiring all situated um and now we're pretty much ready to fire this
24:09sucker wow one of the smoothest starts to date it's a turning over that brings us one step closer to
24:18getting this back to mark on time and when he gets it he's gonna be thrilled when he looks under the hood
24:23yeah we're all dry that sounded nice we've got it figured out now it works car runs we're just dialing
24:29in a few little uh nibbed things and uh we're ready to roll and we're ready to roll with magnaflow
24:36well mark we're getting ready to do the exhaust myself and gabe we're going to start with patriot
24:39headers uh work our way back to a set of magnaflow mufflers put it on the total gm a body kit for
24:44this car uh and finish it off with something that's going to add a little bit of horsepower
24:48definitely increase the sound quality and overall put together a really good package for you just in
24:52time for d-day time for the scoop for foots it's 9 30 a.m d-day mark you're getting your car back
24:58today we still have a few things to do we got uh bill done putting the interior together we got dennis here he's
25:03going to pinstripe it got a couple more embers to put on it does run already we're going to change
25:08out your valve covers and uh get the rear wheels and tires on it's vf goodrich rolling into the
25:15house wrapped around custom painted wheels down below up above that convertible top is getting
25:19steamed into shape and as that goes down so does the carpet and the rest of the new interior
25:26the seats are finally going in and as they do finally go in we're a little behind but it's worth the
25:31time because this car is becoming a completed work of art
25:37now's the time for those little things nobody thinks about on day one unless of course you're
25:41chip or dennis you know we're in the home stretch when this man is here dennis is once again applying
25:46his pinstriping expertise to the 72 cutlass chip is filling in the bear symbol on the calipers that's a
25:53custom touch that not a lot of people would think about it's bare essentials you gotta get it done hey but
25:57seriously folks returning to the pinstriping these details are easily the coolest lines ever laid
26:02down on a reinvented 67 oldsmobile cutlass hard work seems to be paying off on the audio side
26:13it's 5 30 p.m d-day right now all we have left to do is test out the audio from jng
26:18this works we're ready to give the car back to mark let's do it all right mark well it looks like
26:32your car is ready for you but are you ready for it all right it's d-day and lisa here our insider is
26:39about to see the car for the first time for you right yeah you excited yeah very excited now you
26:45had told us when we were designing the car that pretty much anything we did to it would probably
26:49be okay we still used your input but i want you to see what we did before we go oh no oh no what did
26:56you do i go that way oh my gosh holy smokes you guys wow where's his car oh my gosh let's get mark
27:10and see what he thinks final prank time on mark's 72 cutlass convertible chip and i will be playing
27:15detectives from the auto theft task force lee is back as mitch oaks the very bad man on this episode
27:22we tell mark he's been victimized by a scheme involving fake checks and phony impounds
27:26we want to verify the crook we're after mitch oaks okay what a coincidence he's on our bad guy list
27:34yep here it is right here oaks m that's one of our suspects obviously these people aren't
27:39sophisticated enough to switch out the names that they use when they're perpetrating these operations
27:43on people so it sounds like exactly the uh the people that we've been trying to catch have victimized
27:49you as well um let me ask you this uh mark would you be willing to help us out and setting up a sting
27:56so we can take these guys down sure the sting will start with the law eavesdropping on a rendezvous
28:02call between mark and mitch but for that to happen mark needs to give the law mitch's phone number
28:08i suspect that mark is a big fish on our hook right now sounds like he's buying everything
28:13so he's going to call us back with the number of mitch oaks and we'll take the next step to
28:17perpetrating this big reveal for mark your lucky man but first we need mitch's phone number that mark
28:24left back home hey are you at home no my job site meeting still what's i need a phone number from
28:31my uh tan corduroy jacket no i'm not at home what do you need because i need the business card of that
28:38guy the quote unquote collections agent it's in that jacket what do you need the card for i'll tell you
28:44about it later let me just get take care of this so that i can get do something about it and then
28:50i'll tell you all about it okay here we go we're going to call mark back again he's called us we're
28:57going to set up a conference call with lee posing as mitch here we go mark did get the number so the
29:02game is on with that being the case chris phones mark with the rules what i need you to do is tell him
29:08that you are willing to pay whatever he wants you to pay now have him come back to your place of
29:12business when you do meet with him wait until he asks you to pay him the money yeah and then at that
29:19point i need you to give me some sort of sign that he has asked you because i'll have visual with you
29:25how about if i scratch my head or something like that i want you to make it real obvious so i want
29:29you to before you scratch your head i want you to put your arm up in the air as if you're stretching
29:34and then scratch your head so then i know because i don't want my guys busting in there without
29:40having gotten the uh the right uh words from him that we need okay okay so you know what to do
29:47uh yeah just uh tell mitch that i'm ready to take care of this thing and pay him whatever needs
29:52to happen and then i want my car back and have him show up in my office about half an hour perfect
29:57it's a perfect plan so mark can then get his perfect cutlass it's almost time for the big show
30:04but first that wiretap call between mark and mitch what's uh what's going on are you ready to pay this
30:09thing so i can be done dealing with you just want to take care of this i want to pay whatever it is
30:13and i want to find out where my car is i want you know the whole thing to be over no no okay so you're
30:18going to pay it none of this walking to my car like you're my girlfriend or you're just gonna pay me
