00:00That's our prank sergeant Chris Jacobs.
00:09That's the private and first class AJ.
00:12That's battalion leader Chip Foose.
00:15Tastes like rust.
00:17And that's our Mark, a returning Marine in for a huge homecoming.
00:21On today's Oberhollen, David's Firebird becomes a car you'll salute.
00:25We get industrious with it here at Classic Industries.
00:29David's parents will work as our insiders.
00:32Judy and Ron keep it covert with David out of the loop while Foose deploys the troops.
00:37The squad will be embedded as the Firebird's rehatched.
00:40While our pranks hatch plots that mess with our Marine.
00:43Here where a 68 is the bait.
00:46And we're creating a trap seconds away from plucking a Pontiac.
00:49Taking it to our build zone and our prank zone.
00:52Where the rides go beyond basic.
00:54It's that recruiting center classified as Camp Overhauling.
00:59Oh my gosh.
01:01Ha ha ha ha.
01:06I am gasoline.
01:09That's right.
01:10I am gasoline bitches.
01:17David's a Marine in love with his 68 Firebird.
01:29His folks, Ron and Judy, are working the inside.
01:33Our Mark David has had his 68 Firebird for over eight years.
01:37He's been wanting to fix it up, but lately he's been a busy Marine in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
01:42Well, now that he's back, we're going to give him a big surprise.
01:47We are from the Brotherhood of Overhauling Car Thieves.
01:52It's cold, it's early.
01:54The only way to warm it up is to go steal ourselves a 68 Firebird owned by David.
02:00It's day one. Let's steal the car.
02:03David and his dad took the ride to a friend named Frank.
02:06Frank's supposed to fix the car.
02:08Instead, he serves it up for our thieves.
02:10Chris is going to love this blower, I can tell you that, man.
02:20Oh, this thing is hilarious.
02:23It's got the B&M Racing Shifter in there.
02:26It's got the tack that's attached to the steering wheel.
02:29And you've got to love that blower.
02:31Right now, it resembles an old loaf of banana bread, but after Fus gets a hold of it, it's going to be one delicious cake.
02:47Classic Industries is where the 68 will be reborn.
02:55And now that we're here, we need to push the car right up to the shop.
03:01Wow.
03:02Quiet as a church, Miles.
03:04I don't think the engine needs any overhauling at all.
03:07No, we had to push it up here because the thing wouldn't start.
03:09But you know what?
03:10I like the 68 Firebird.
03:12If it's anything, it's yellow.
03:14And that's absolutely the best part of this car right now.
03:18This car's got a lot of issues, but you know what?
03:20Chipping 18 are just the guys to handle it.
03:22I think we should get them out here, have them take a look.
03:24Yo, 18, come on out!
03:26Oh, yeah!
03:35Put some black stripes on it, or we'll have a bumblebee.
03:41You've got two.
03:44It tastes like rust.
03:54Not even this yellow can cover the rust.
03:57Yeah, we're going to have to take this hood scoop straight.
03:59Oh, yeah.
03:59It's like a hood scoop, male slot.
04:02It's quite ugly.
04:05I haven't even read what David's dream car is, but I can tell you right now, we will lose
04:09the hood.
04:09What are you thinking just right off the bat?
04:13Anything that's popping out to you that you like about this car?
04:16Right off the bat, I'm thinking let's get it in, get it disassembled, get it on a media
04:19resurfacing, get it media blasted, bring it back and see what we have to work with.
04:23Boos climbs in and his magic touch gets it started.
04:26Just enough power to get into the shop so we can get started.
04:29Well, he drove nice, so we're going to make him our team leader.
04:35Check out the bird before it gets plucked.
05:08What do you think, Chip?
05:13May the games begin.
05:15Well, these aren't games.
05:18These are serious matters of deconstruction, proven by how fast this car comes apart.
05:23There's a lot of stuff on this bench that I could see us replacing.
05:26Yeah.
05:26Out, out, out.
05:28Everything.
05:28The deck pad looks nice.
05:30Okay, well, that's a start.
05:31At least something's nice.
05:33In just seven days, everything about this ride is going to be more than nice, and we do mean everything.
05:38From the front grille to the interior.
05:42Dan from A&M Interiors is with us again on this build.
05:46What are you going to use, and what are you going to chuck?
05:48We're chucking everything.
05:50Well, you've got to love those decisive types.
05:52We're getting rid of a lot of stuff, with this ride probably having a lot of new gear in its future.
05:59Dash pad's out.
06:03Now, as bad as this car could have been rust-wise, it's actually not in such bad a shape.
06:09Obviously, this is probably the worst issue on the car.
06:11This is the driver's side rear quarter.
06:14However, as we've come to learn here on Overhauling, we never know for sure until we get the car back from Media Blasting.
06:20But one thing is for sure.
06:22That engine is definitely coming out.
06:27Just pulled the motor out and getting ready to go to Media Blasting.
06:30Hold the phone there, Captain.
06:32First, there's a couple people who want to check all this out.
06:34It's our Mark's parents, Ron and Judy.
06:36All right, Judy, I understand you rode into Overhauling while David was at war in the Middle East.
06:42And when I rode in, he was in Afghanistan.
06:45And I just, this was his dream car.
06:49I'm sorry.
06:50And it just meant a lot to him, and he never got to complete it.
06:56David, we're just so proud of everything that you've done.
07:00We're just so thankful for you.
07:01We're just really proud of you.
07:03And we just, oh, we just hope you enjoy this.
07:06You may be going through some stress during this process and wondering what's happening.
07:10It's all going to be worth it.
07:11We can't wait to see it.
07:14Okay.
07:15Now that the car's taking a trip to Blasting, we have to take a trip to Memory Lane along with our tow truck driver, Joel.
07:20He's going to get a donor car for our stereo guys to use.
07:23Right away, he finds his ride.
07:25It goes on the forklift and over to Joel's carrier, about to be quickly on its way to Classic Industries.
07:31That's the place ready to soon house two Firebirds.
07:34It's also where Chip is about to meet with our insiders.
07:38How long has David had the car?
07:39Since 1998.
07:40Was it yellow then?
07:42No.
07:42When he bought it, it was mostly green with primer.
07:46Do you think he would want the yellow again, or is there another color that you think he might want to go with?
07:50He said that if he were to paint it again, he would paint it black.
07:53How about wheels?
07:54But he was looking at upgrading to a fancy type of wheel, and he never found what he was looking for.
07:59So he'd like something that really stands out.
08:03Now on the interior, if the car's going black, would you go with a black interior, or would you go with a color in that?
08:09Probably a black interior with maybe some accenting color with the black interior.
08:15Well, I'm going to take this information, create a couple sketches, and we'll be back in touch with you soon.
08:21Okay.
08:21That's great.
08:22Thanks for coming in.
08:23Pleasure to meet you.
08:24Nice meeting you.
08:25Thank you very much.
08:26And David, hang on.
08:28We've got a week of pranking here.
08:30Yeah.
08:34Car's back from the Media Blast.
08:36We're going to roll it right in and see what we're working with.
08:38Hopefully it's not too bad a shape.
08:45All right, Rob, what do you see so far?
08:47Looking good, looking bad.
08:49It's looking pretty good.
08:49We've got one little rust spot on the one rear quarter.
08:53But other than that, the rest of the car...
08:53Could it be this one that looks like Swiss cheese?
08:56Yeah, that one back there.
08:57I didn't notice too much.
08:58But the rest of the car's solid.
09:00It looks really good.
09:02Being that there's not a lot of rust in the car, we'll be able to get the car finished up,
09:07and it'll give us a lot more time in the end to reassemble it.
09:10This is rare.
09:11A car this old with only a small amount of rust.
09:14The team is thrilled, determined to get it to paint in record time.
09:17Right now, the only big replacements are the hood and a few much-needed patch panels.
09:22With the speed of light, the guys jump right in.
09:25Well, it's 2 o'clock in the morning of day one.
09:28We got all of our patch panels made.
09:30The reinforcements have been welded in.
09:32I'm getting ready to weld on the outer quarter panel skin.
09:35It looks like I should be done with this in about the next hour or so,
09:39and we should have everything done on the car.
09:41Oh, man, that's way too optimistic.
09:45So it's day two, right?
09:46We're already talking about going to paint.
09:48Yeah, this car is really, really nice.
09:50So a little bit of rust repair, a little bit of metal work.
09:53This thing's off to paint today.
09:54To make that happen, the gang gets right to work,
09:57hanging the doors and making a few modifications back where the fuel's going to ride.
10:01We're putting a new gas tank on there so the filler neck has to be relocated.
10:05Captain's taking care of that metal work.
10:07What was it before and where's it going to be?
10:09Before it was here, we're going to fill this lock,
10:11put the new filler here behind the license plate with the trunk latch.
10:15So while Tony and the guys work on fitting the new hood,
10:17Chris brings in the latest shipment for David's ride,
10:20and it is one cool and very powerful incoming delivery.
10:24What do we got here, man?
10:25We got the brand new GM Performance Parts LS364 440 crate engine.
10:30And I understand that's the first one off the line.
10:31This is the very first one.
10:33This particular engine makes 440 horsepower and about 400 foot-pounds of torque.
10:37But we've also got a little extra just for you guys at overhauling.
10:41Just for us?
10:41We've got a set of CNC-ported LS two-cylinder heads
10:44that we're going to install on this,
10:46and we're going to bump the horsepower from 440 to just over 500.
10:49Is that all?
10:50So those are some pretty interesting graphics.
11:15How did you come up with this?
11:16I didn't want to do a known graphic off of the Chevrolet,
11:20so I took the two-stripe idea, which is a rally stripe,
11:23and just applied it to the side, breaking off of those gills.
11:26We'll see how it looks from these paintings.
11:27I think it's going to be beautiful.
11:34All right, David, there's your car.
11:39Now that we have our design,
11:41it's time to take David's Firebird through the rain and over to Fix Auto,
11:44where the in-house crew dives right into the putty,
11:47the sanding, and all the rest of the bodywork.
11:53Mother Nature is not working with us tonight.
11:56It's very cold.
11:57Things are not drying.
11:58But a little rain's not going to stop these guys.
12:01It's almost 3 o'clock in the morning, day two.
12:03Well, actually, technically day three now.
12:05We were able to get our doors, deck lid,
12:08and cowl panel in the booth primered.
12:10The car should be going in the spray booth within the next hour or so.
12:14So we should have color on the car by, say, mid-afternoon tomorrow.
12:20The car received its primer last night,
12:23and now it's ready for a visit from a couple who know this ride incredibly well.
12:27All right, we have a special visit from our insiders.
12:30This is Ron and Judy, David's parents.
12:33You guys here at Fix Auto in Anaheim, California are hard at work behind us.
12:36Let's bring the insiders over to the car.
12:38You guys want to take a look at the car you guys is right now?
12:41Actually, we've set a little bit of a record here on Overhaul,
12:44and I don't think we've ever had a car to the paint shop on only day two.
12:48But that's because there was very, very little rust on the car.
12:50So kudos to you guys for keeping the car in such good shape.
12:53That looks great.
12:54That looks great.
12:55Great job looking better now, didn't you?
12:57That's his car.
12:59It's time to see one part that has definitely changed.
13:02Oh, wow.
13:03So this is actually a factory replacement hood for the 68 Firebird.
13:08This is a replica of the hood that came on the car when it rolled off the assembly line.
13:13Okay.
13:13So we're taking it back to the original with this hood.
13:16Nothing like what's there.
13:17It's got functional scoops on there, so you still will have that racy look,
13:21but not the big tall boy scoop that's on there.
13:25Dave, if you were here, you'd be amazed by the sights, the sounds, the smells, the team.
13:30You're missing out.
13:31What's taking place.
13:32You're missing out, buddy.
13:33We're having a great time, and we're just looking forward to when you see this.
13:37We can't wait.
13:38Well, David, I've got to say thank you for defending us overseas,
13:42and this is our small way to say thanks right back to you.
13:46Happy to have you, man.
13:47Welcome to the Overhauling family.
13:51We're about to have a little fun right now.
13:53David just found out that the car had been stolen.
13:56Ryan's going to place a call to his brother,
13:57let him know that he's going to be on top of things.
14:00Are you ready?
14:01I'm ready.
14:02Hello?
14:03Dave.
14:04What's up?
14:05Hey, did we lose the car?
14:08Yeah, I did, apparently.
14:09Do you know what happened?
14:11I have no idea.
14:12Apparently, we took the car down to Stanks a few days ago,
14:17and the next day he moved it or something,
14:21and he parked it back on the street or something like that.
14:23Today he came back, and he said it wasn't there.
14:26Okay, yeah, Dad called me and asked me if I can do anything.
14:31So I'm going to give my buddy a call.
14:33He works for the Orange County Auto Theft Task Force.
14:35See if he can look into this personally,
14:37and we'll get a hold of you ASAP, okay?
14:39All right, thanks, Ryan.
14:40Bye.
14:40Got him?
14:43I got him.
14:44So he seems a little upset.
14:46Yeah, he seems pretty concerned.
14:48Okay, but he's leaving it up to you.
14:49He's relying on you now to find the car.
14:52Yeah, I'll do my best.
14:55All right, well, joke's on you.
14:57Okay, it's 6.30 on day three.
15:04Getting ready to put some black down on this.
15:05Chip's going to come in tomorrow and put the silver on it,
15:07and we're done with this thing.
15:09It's a tag-team paint job,
15:10with these pros giving it all a few coats of black,
15:13making this Firebird as dark as the night we're now going into.
15:25Yeah, it's looking real good in black.
15:27All right, it's 9.30, morning of day four.
15:35We've got the silver laid out.
15:36We're going to mask up the two stripes,
15:38re-spray the whole car black,
15:39get it cleared back over to Classic Industries.
15:41Let's start assembling.
15:44As his vision moves from paper to paint,
15:46Chip has created yet another one-of-a-kind masterpiece,
15:49one that will have our mark wondering
15:51where that old yellow car went off to hide.
15:54The side kills had Foose excited from day one,
15:57and now he has a graphic to complement that feature.
16:08With that Foose graphic now laid out,
16:10the final color is sprayed onto David's 1968 Firebird.
16:14Luckily for our Mark David,
16:18the team at Fix are more than just old pals here at Overhollen.
16:21They're also pros when it comes to putting down an incredible finish.
16:25Well, we've got all the black on,
16:27so now we're ready to unmask.
16:29Ah, we've got a little leaky.
16:31We'll have to fix a couple things like that,
16:33then we can clear it.
16:34A couple touch-ups, and the Firebird is ready to clear.
16:43We already think it's great,
16:44but what does Foose think of it so far?
16:47Nice.
16:50It's 1.30, day four.
16:52This thing's been clear-coated, it's been baked,
16:54it's ready to come out of the booth.
16:55Out of the booth and back to Classic Industries,
16:57where we will begin an early reassembly.
17:003 p.m. on day four.
17:02Is that right?
17:03Let's get this thing inside and keep going.
17:06Yeah, you're right, Craig.
17:07We can hardly believe it ourselves.
17:09Oh, one thing that wasn't addressed before paint
17:12was the rear bumper.
17:14Chip now wants it tucked and tied into the silver graphic.
17:17Now we've got to wait for it to cool off a little bit.
17:19We'll cut the line, grind that clean.
17:21This can go get chrome tomorrow.
17:23Bolt around the car.
17:26It's 11 p.m.
17:27Day four.
17:28Chip's done with the bumper.
17:30It's all polished off.
17:31He's shrunk both corners and rounded it in.
17:33And that's it for tonight.
17:35This is off to the Cromers in the morning.
17:40Okay, we're getting ready to call David.
17:42We're going to encourage him to come join us
17:44for a sting operation.
17:45Hopefully he'll come join us.
17:47And for sure, we're going to have a lot of fun.
17:51Hello?
17:52Yes, David.
17:52This is Scott Stevenson with the Auto Theft Task Force.
17:56I'm calling because I hear your car was stolen, buddy.
17:59I think we've got a pretty good idea where it might be.
18:01What are you doing later on this evening?
18:03I've got to school until 9 tonight.
18:05Could you possibly maybe meet us later on?
18:08You know, here in L.A., a lot of stuff goes down after 9.30.
18:10Yeah, that'd be fine.
18:11We have a couple of locations we're going to check out.
18:14Hopefully one of them may turn out to be pretty hot,
18:17depending on what our informants tell us.
18:19And we'll be calling you back with that address.
18:21Okay, thanks a lot.
18:22Okay, buddy.
18:22Take care.
18:23See ya.
18:26You know it!
18:27We're back!
18:28Guess what else is back?
18:30Got the subframe back from Gemtech, all powder-coated.
18:33Hotchkiss is here.
18:34They're going to put the front suspension on.
18:35We can do the rear suspension.
18:37Get this thing sitting on the ground.
18:38In goes the brand-new suspension.
18:49But if there's one thing I've learned,
18:50it's that no suspension ever stays as is.
18:53Foose likes it low, so I'm betting on a modification.
19:00Okay, it's almost the end of the night here,
19:03but we also have some late-night pranking to do.
19:05Prankster Lee is playing the long arm of the law.
19:12He asked David to meet up with him for a stakeout,
19:14with the hopes that our mark can identify anything that might look familiar.
19:17The trap has been set, and so far, the bait has been taken.
19:22We've been casing this joint.
19:23We've got about four or five of them that we've been looking at.
19:26Hopefully if we see something,
19:27and you can ID something with a positive identification
19:30that shows that your car either is going in or coming out,
19:33or something like that, then we can get a warrant we can bust these guys.
19:36Okay.
19:36So, 68 Fireburn, huh?
19:39Me and my dad, we did the interior.
19:41The thing is just, uh, interior is really nice.
19:44The engine's kind of shaky right now, though,
19:46because when I joined the military in 2001,
19:48the thing's basically just been sitting there for four years in the driveway.
19:51Okay, guys, I am in position.
19:55We are ready to go.
19:57Yes, stakeouts involve a lot of waiting around.
20:00But don't worry, David.
20:01We're about to show you some action.
20:08Hold on.
20:10What is going on here?
20:13Dispatch, we have some, uh, activity here at Eaton.
20:16That looked really shady right there.
20:30I mean, the guy, that wasn't a handshake or anything.
20:32It looked like they definitely exchanged something.
20:35The gate's opening.
20:35Is that a tire?
20:47Yeah, two tires.
20:49Oh, damn it.
20:49I can't do it.
20:53These guys are freaking stealing cars like it's cool.
20:57That's a hood.
20:58That looks like a hood.
21:00The hood of a, uh...
21:03It's got a...
21:04That's what my hood looks like.
21:06That definitely looks like my hood.
21:07It's got a...
21:08It's looked yellow.
21:09It's got a big, uh, hood scoop on it.
21:11You're kidding me.
21:12The shape of it looked exactly like my hood.
21:13You got it on film, brother.
21:16Oof.
21:18We have a positive ID.
21:19He says that was his hood.
21:21It was just placed into the back of that pickup truck that sped around the corner.
21:24We have it in full view on videotape,
21:27as well as positive ID from him saying that that was his hood.
21:31Copy that?
21:33You sure?
21:34Absolutely.
21:35I couldn't tell exactly what color it was,
21:37but it definitely looked like a light color hood.
21:41And that was definitely the shape of my hood.
21:45This is like that movie Gone in 60 Seconds.
21:48These guys are just bringing in these cars.
21:50Uh, no, David.
21:51It's more like that show overhauled.
21:53And soon you'll be thanking us.
21:56Let's check out the interior.
21:58I'm here with David from Catskin,
22:00and he's going to show us what's in store for David's 68 Firebird.
22:03All right, David, what's going on?
22:04Well, what we've got here is the factory front seat here,
22:07and it's going to be replaced by a Subi Sport Cobra front seat.
22:10And what we're doing at Catskin is we're going to customize the rear seats of this interior
22:13to match this front pattern here.
22:15Well, here we have the rear seats.
22:17Yeah, you've got the rear back here.
22:19So since you're incorporating the Cobra seats into the back seat,
22:22is there going to be any embroidery?
22:23Yes.
22:24As you see in the front seat, the upper panel is a Cobra logo
22:26that we're going to be putting on our back seats as well.
22:29Well, David, I hope you like it because these are pretty slick.
22:33Back at Classic Industries,
22:34Travis and Jay from Installation Station get their turn on the car,
22:38and it looks like they're happy.
22:40All right, guys, how's the system coming along?
22:42Pretty good.
22:43Absolutely.
22:44Any troubles?
22:46I had a little grief this morning.
22:48We have the mock-up car outside,
22:50and of course when we're laying fiberglass,
22:53building the sub box and everything,
22:54the mock-up car doesn't have dynamat.
22:57So when we finally do get the car back,
22:59it's going to fit the sub box.
23:01Just doesn't quite fit right.
23:04Okay, so what did you guys have to do
23:05to make it fit perfectly like it looks right now?
23:08Well, Trav and I were outside there for a little over an hour
23:11grinding the bottom of the box out.
23:13You think the worst is over?
23:15What's left to do?
23:15No, we're going to start upholstering now
23:18and wrapping stuff and putting the carpet in
23:20and the car's wired.
23:22We're in good shape.
23:23And it looks like the rest of the car is, too.
23:25It is 12.30, going into day seven.
23:29We're just wrapping things up,
23:31finishing a little bit of trim,
23:32and we're going home to sleep.
23:34That's overhauling.
23:35All right, it's 10 a.m. day seven.
23:40We're looking good.
23:41We can bolt the engine and transmission together.
23:43So Rob and Marty are going to go ahead and get that in
23:45and finish the stereo and the interior.
23:47So another busy day.
23:49Time to put this singular,
23:50currently one-off pack of horsepower into David's car.
23:53From the start, it was too big a motor for this, Rob.
23:56But all week, Rob's been prepping every possible angle.
23:59So when the moment of truth arrives,
24:01it's no shock that it all goes in like it was meant to be.
24:06It's looking good so far.
24:07Looks like we've got enough room.
24:09How's it look down there, Gil?
24:10We're good.
24:11Cool.
24:1111.20, day seven.
24:17Got the motor in the car.
24:19Now we've just got to hook her up and get it running.
24:23Afternoon on day seven.
24:24Seats just arrived from Catskin.
24:25I say we get them inside and get them installed.
24:28Absolutely.
24:28Right.
24:31Is this heavy for me to carry?
24:33No, that's nice.
24:37Wow, these came out real nice.
24:39Just doing a test fit right now, Chip.
24:41Oh, this is perfect.
24:43Yeah.
24:45Oh, yeah, I want to take a break.
24:48As you can get it from Cobra
24:50and then match the back seat
24:51so it looks like a factory option,
24:54get the Cobra seats front and back.
24:56All right, it's afternoon of day seven
24:57and we have a visit from our insiders,
25:00David's parents, Ron and Judy,
25:01they're here seeing the car for the first time.
25:04Look at that.
25:05Something.
25:06Oh, my.
25:07I like that silver toe.
25:09It's beautiful.
25:09It highlights so well.
25:11And then get a little look in the trunk here
25:14at the stereo that the guys
25:15are just finishing up installing it.
25:17Whoa.
25:17He is going to love that.
25:20They made this subwoofer enclosure
25:21and, of course, all of these amperecks
25:22are custom made as well,
25:24as well as these panels that go down here.
25:25Up front, Ron, is the real magic.
25:30Yeah.
25:30Got to check this out here.
25:31This is actually a Corvette engine.
25:32Rob installing it right here.
25:34It's from Jam Performance Parts.
25:37And this motor out of the crate
25:39puts out about 400 or so horsepower,
25:41but with the new cam,
25:42big Holley carburetor,
25:44and the headers,
25:44it's going to be upwards of 500 horsepower.
25:46Whoa.
25:47500.
25:47500.
25:48Which is why you're going to need
25:50these beautiful, big, big brakes
25:51that are on there.
25:52So now I know the one thing
25:53that's looking kind of strange
25:54is the interior,
25:55so let's walk over here
25:55and see what the seats
25:56are going to look like.
25:57Subie Sports was good enough
25:58to hook us up with some Cobra seats.
25:59These are going in the front, obviously,
26:01and these are racing seats,
26:02which he's probably going to need
26:03with all that horsepower.
26:04Gives him real nice grip
26:05in the thigh area
26:06and the side area.
26:07Nice support from Cobra.
26:08And then Catskin came through for us huge
26:10and did a backseat for us
26:12that matches the front,
26:14so you think he's going to like it?
26:15He just will be walking on clouds.
26:18He's going to be shocked.
26:20Absolutely shocked.
26:22Dave, this car is just absolutely gorgeous,
26:25and I'm so glad that they were able
26:28to pull this off on you,
26:29and if anybody deserves a prank
26:30pulled on them, you do
26:31for all the pranks you pull,
26:33but this is just a beautiful car,
26:36and you're just going to love it.
26:38It's phone time,
26:41along with our insiders.
26:43Hello?
26:44Hi, my name is David Michelson.
26:46I'm a processor
26:47with the Los Angeles County Court System.
26:50I need to verify some of your testimony.
26:54What exactly happened?
26:56We drove up to the spot,
26:59and then we saw a guy drive a muscle car
27:03up to the fence,
27:05and he got out of the vehicle.
27:07Right when he got out of the vehicle,
27:09and got on the other side of the fence,
27:10opened up to look like they exchanged something.
27:12It didn't really look like a handshake.
27:14It looked like they exchanged something,
27:15and the driver got back in the vehicle
27:17and drove the car inside,
27:19and that was at maybe five to eight minutes later,
27:22something like that.
27:23It opened up.
27:25A black truck rolled up,
27:26and the driver,
27:28he brought outside with him a tire
27:30and put it in the back of that truck.
27:33The guy who's been bringing in these vehicles,
27:35that driver came out again,
27:37this time with a hood,
27:38and then I paused for a second,
27:39and I'm like,
27:39you know what?
27:40That's my hood.
27:41That hood definitely looked like my hood.
27:43I mean, same design.
27:45My hood is a very distinctive hood.
27:46It has a big hood scoop in the middle.
27:48Okay, excellent.
27:49David, I want to thank you.
27:51What I'm going to do right now
27:53is I'm going to take this report,
27:56and I am going to bring it over to the judge
27:58to have him sign a warrant
28:00so we can search the location.
28:03So I'm going to file it right now.
28:06If you have any other questions or information,
28:08you can call Detective Stevenson.
28:10All right.
28:11You have a good day.
28:12All right.
28:12Bye-bye.
28:13All right.
28:14Now, I'm wondering why this hood is so rare.
28:17Why there aren't a whole lot of them out there.
28:20It's just so custom, I guess.
28:23Okay.
28:24Now that we have our Mark David
28:26even deeper into our pile of pranks,
28:28we need to get this car closer to completion.
28:31There's not a lot of time left
28:32to make it come together
28:33because in case you've lost track,
28:35tomorrow is D-Day.
28:38Well, we're going to go ahead
28:39and give it a little more drop in the front.
28:42I'm going to pop the coil springs out,
28:44do some adjustments to those,
28:46and then put it all back together.
28:59All right.
28:59It's 115, day seven.
29:01Just dropped the lower control arm,
29:03took the spring out,
29:03and took a coil out of it.
29:05While it's out,
29:06we're going to throw the inner fender wells in
29:07so we can get this thing done for D-Day tomorrow.
29:12Go ahead and bring the car down.
29:14We've got the exhaust all done.
29:15We've got our little suspension modification done
29:17so the car sits a little lower in the front.
29:19Now Rob's going to jump back in there
29:21and see if we can't get this LS2 fired up.
29:30Well, it's down to the nitty-gritty.
29:31You know it's true.
29:32When Dennis Ricklips is here,
29:33you know that beautiful stripe is going on
29:35and things must be getting close to being finished.
29:37It must be D-Day.
29:39Foose and Dennis are powwowing right now
29:41about the little graph
29:41that's going to go on the hood of the car.
29:43Chip, what's your idea here?
29:45Well, it is the brand-new LS2 motor,
29:47so we want to put the LS2 on both sides
29:49of the little scoops on the hood
29:51so without opening the hood,
29:53you know what's inside.
29:57In addition to pinstriping the hood,
30:00Dennis also adds flair to the stereo system.
30:02Meanwhile, Rob and Marty tighten up
30:04the loose ends on the engine.
30:07Morning at D-Day.
30:08We're here last night until about 5 o'clock.
30:10We've just got to tie up a few hoses
30:11and we should be able to fire this thing up
30:13and see what it sounds like.
30:15It is final prank time.
30:20I'm not even going to try to explain
30:21what's going to happen
30:22because it's going to be wild.
30:24Lee's about to call David to get him down here.
30:26Let's take it away, man.
30:27David, Scott Stevenson.
30:30David Stevenson, how you doing?
30:31Doing good, buddy.
30:32Hey, listen, you did great work the other night.
30:33I've got some good news for you.
30:34I think we have a location on your car.
30:37Not sure what condition it is,
30:39but I need your help this afternoon.
30:42You need my help this afternoon?
30:43Yeah, can you get to me within an hour or so?
30:45Okay, I'll see you in a bit then.
30:47Okay, buddy, and I'll try in about 30 minutes
30:49to get your ETA.
30:51Okay, thanks.
30:51Okay, David.
30:52Great work, buddy.
30:52See you in a bit.
30:53Bye.
30:53All right, well, the trap has been set.
30:56David's on his way down here.
30:57Chip, you ready?
30:58I'm ready, Lee.
30:59Go get him in the pipeline.
31:00I am so ready.
31:01Bring him back to Classic Instinct.
31:03We're going to have some fun.
31:04As we're finishing up fitting the hood,
31:05Rob's going to fire up the engine
31:06and see if it fires.
31:09Are you ready, Rob?
31:09Sounds good.
31:16And speaking of sounds...
31:18All right, system's in.
31:19Everything's wired.
31:20Everything's fine-tuned.
31:21Anything else?
31:22That's it.
31:23It's all set to go.
31:23Well, David, it looks like we're rocking and rolling.
31:33We're hoping you're ready to rock and roll with us.
31:34With the car together,
31:35it's time to bring on the Armor All.
31:38Just doing some final details
31:39before we give the car back to David.
31:43Our Mark David meets up with Officer Lee
31:46to participate in another stakeout.
31:48By now, David is a crook-chasing pro.
31:51He's more than ready to get the bad guys
31:53and his car back.
32:03Okay.
32:03If you see a yellow car back there, say so.
32:18Is that the dude?
32:21Dude, is that that dude?
32:22He doesn't have a go-tie, though.
32:24Is that the guy right there?
32:25You know what?
32:26That guy does have a peenie.
32:27He looks like he's got a peenie in there.
32:28Dispatch, we've got a possible positive ID
32:31on the guy in the photo.
32:35All right, copy that.
32:37All right, he wasn't going to go in there.
32:38All right, let's do this.
32:39They don't want this guy to get out of there
32:40because they think that's a stolen vehicle,
32:43so I'm going to...
32:44That guy does look like that guy.
32:45He doesn't have a go-tie.
32:47Can you hear me?
32:47Can you hear me?
32:49Loud and clear.
32:49Don't do anything stupid.
32:52Roger.
33:05I think that's the guy,
33:06so I'm going to sit here,
33:07and as soon as that gate opens,
33:08I'm going to go get him,
33:09so just sit tight and don't shoot anybody.
33:12Roger.
33:12Here's all copy.
33:29Oh, dude.
33:31Whoa, whoa, whoa!
33:35Johnson, throw me there, throw me there.
33:37Tony Johnson, hurry up!
33:38Oh, man, it's close!
33:41I didn't do nothing!
33:42He stole the best car!
33:43I didn't do nothing!
33:44What's going on?
33:45I didn't do nothing!
33:46Talk to him.
33:47I didn't do nothing!
33:48What's going on here?
33:49You don't have a problem or you can go over here and listen to me.
33:52What's going on?
33:53Go over here.
33:54Sir?
33:55Come over here.
33:56What's going on here?
33:57Possible suspect might have stole the car.
33:58Really?
33:59Yeah, really.
34:00Did you work here?
34:01No.
34:02David Johnson.
34:03You're David?
34:04Yeah.
34:05Congratulations.
34:06You're on overhauling.
34:07You're on overhauling, man.
34:08You're on the best, man.
34:09You're on the best!
34:10You're on the best!
34:11Oh, you're fantastic!
34:12This is just a very small way for us to say thank you for defending our country.
34:17We know that you've been over to Afghanistan and Iraq as well, so it's a small something
34:21we can do for you to kind of pay you back for doing everything you've done for the USA.
34:24I appreciate it.
34:25So I appreciate that, man.
34:26Congratulations on being overhauled.
34:28Thank you, bro.
34:29I had a blast that night and today with you.
34:31You were quite a kid.
34:32You were a kid.
34:33You were a kid.
34:34We'll hang out.
34:35We're gonna hang out.
34:36Definitely.
34:37Let's head back up the street to Classic Industries to give David back his dream car.
34:41All right, man.
34:42You ready for your life to change?
34:43Yes, sir.
34:44Go for it, David.
34:45Oh my gosh.
34:46Oh.
34:47What in the world?
34:48No way.
34:49This is sweet.
34:50What in the world?
34:51You guys did this to my car.
34:52This is my Firebird, huh?
34:53Holy cow.
34:54This is the sweetest car I've ever seen before.
34:57This is a beautiful car.
35:02I love black.
35:08I told my dad I wanted a black car.
35:12Wow.
35:17The wheels are sweet.
35:21car. Wow, the wheels are sweet. What isn't sweet on this? What in the world? What in the world is
35:33probably about as accurate a statement as you could make when you first lay eyes on this car.
35:38And if you were the owner of the yellow version just seven days ago, man, you'd have no idea in
35:44the world how this thing actually happened. Say hi to David again. Congratulations again. Thank
35:50you very much. It's beautiful. Thanks for all that you were doing. You're welcome. The armed
35:55forces doing what they're doing allows us to do this. I appreciate it. This is so beautiful. I don't
36:00know what to think. Thank you so much. You're fine with Chip now, but about an hour ago you wanted to
36:04gang-tackle him. Arrest him. He was just standing there like Mr. Innocent, you know, and popped out
36:10of nowhere. I thought he was part of this whole conspiracy. Oh yeah, Chip was a big part of this
36:15whole conspiracy. And so were a lot of guys all dying to meet David. They worked all week
36:20creating maybe the most singular Firebird on the road today. A black and silver beauty
36:25with over 500 horses roaring under that now less than high-rise hood. So is this the same
36:30hood or is this different? I mean, I know the hood scoop isn't there. Did you guys shave it
36:33off or did you get a completely different? David, David, David, David, David. I'm just confused.
36:38I don't want that hood anymore. Let's make it clear. This is not the same hood.
36:41Unbelievable. You sure you didn't want this? You guys can keep it. You sure?
36:49Okay, I admit it. We gotta stop picking on David over that hood. But it is a great symbol of where
36:55this car was and where this car is. Because the truth is this. There was a little bit of that hood
37:00scoop in every part of this ride when we first got it. But Fus and his design put the cool back into
37:05this Firebird. A 68 recreated by an A-team that went the distance for our Marine. Our own set of
37:11troops we set loose on a Pontiac. It's a ride that still has David stunned. I appreciate it. I really
37:18love it. I can't believe this is happening. He's in disbelief now? Just wait until that hood goes up.
37:24What the hell? Holy cow. L-S-2 carbureted from GM Performance.
37:40Unbelievable. I love it. That sounds sweet. Isn't that amazing? It looks beautiful.
37:46Holy cow. It just doesn't even sound legal.
37:53And more sound is coming David's way from Installation Station. Our friends who are about
37:57to have this 68 and this place totally rocking. That sounds really good. Definitely got some
38:12thump to it. I love it. I should keep up to that motor man.
38:15It was recreated here at Classic Industries and they also put great parts into the build as well
38:22and great builders. But aside from the location, parts, and builders, we also needed insiders. And
38:27in David's brother, we found a great one. A credible prankster who helped us mess with our mark.
38:34I'm making that phone call to you. He was here on our set.
38:38Did you find your car?
38:39Yeah, I found it.
38:40Did you do anything to it?
38:41Thanks. A little bit. Thanks for playing that joke on me.
38:45I'm just kidding, Ron.
38:45Thanks, Ron.
38:48Real funny guy.
38:49Yeah.
38:50I know a friend who's really hardcores with Auto Theft Task Force.
38:55So we're going to let him drive it maybe once or twice?
38:58Absolutely. Not.
38:59No, I'm just kidding.
39:02Yeah, you can drive it.
39:04Well, guys, thank you very much. The car is beautiful. I love it.
39:07This car has actually been sitting in my driveway for the past four years ever since I joined the Marine Corps.
39:12It didn't really become drivable after a while and I just kind of wanted to get rid of it.
39:16I think I want to keep it now.
39:17It's a beautiful car. I can't believe this.
39:20Thank you guys very much for all you did.
39:22I know you guys have a lot of fun.
39:29Hi, Mom.
39:31Jeez.
39:32Yeah, you knew her the whole time, didn't you?
39:33Yes. Congratulations.
39:37It's a nice car.
39:38It's beautiful.
39:40Got you. Got you.
39:42Finally.
39:43What's up, Dad?
39:44Hey, son.

39:46You deserve it.

39:50Great.
39:51Enjoy it.
39:52Wow, this car.
39:54Well, we've had our ups and downs with it. You know how much I loved it and then how much I kind of wanted to get rid of it after a while.
40:00Wouldn't let you.
40:01You know, I'm glad we held on to it. I really am.
40:04Dave, the bottom line is we just couldn't take the scoop any longer.
40:08Couldn't stand it.
40:09All those times.
40:11Yeah, neither could I. Neither could I. People would always give me funny looks whenever I was on the road.
40:17They'll really give you looks now.
40:18Yeah.
40:18Oh, yeah.
40:19Well, he's been around the world and then some. And not many can say they've had the unique experiences our Marines had. And now he's in for another rare moment because he's about to say something few people ever get to say.
40:37My name is Dave and I've just been overhauled.
40:50This is my baby.
40:51Mom and Dad, you guys had me fooled. I had no idea that this was a prank, you know. Good one.
40:58Chip, thank you very much. I can't thank you enough. Car looks gorgeous. It's a beautiful car. Everything you guys did to it, I love it. It's beautiful.
