00:44Surprisingly Sonic says he wouldn't take Sally along

01:30Sonic's shoes had been stolen in issue 3 at SCC
01:34But we didn't see him look for them in his house
01:38Same goes for that AOSDH episode
01:40And this was released in 1993

01:44I like that it gives him more character
01:46By establishing that he's got comic books in his room
01:50Superhero comics like an obvious rip-off of the X-Men
01:54It's great that Tails respects Sonic too much
01:56To scold him about his messy room
01:58Because he's considerate enough to not want to annoy him
02:00It's much more a character than having Tails be sassy with Sonic

02:06To eat the half-eaten cookies he found when Sonic wasn't looking

02:28Tails smartly tells Antoine to help them find Sonic's shoes
02:32Which would only be helpful if he searched in a place they wanted to be looking at
02:36Then I have to see Antoine be rude to Sonic
02:40And Sonic doesn't feel like snarking back at him
02:43For no reason he assumes his shoes were stolen
02:46And calls a meeting to tell his friends that his shoes are missing
02:50And uncharacteristically accuses one of them of hiding it
02:53Even though they know he doesn't think he can fight Eggmen without them
02:57Logically the only one he'd accuse would be Antoine
03:00Since he already hates him
03:02Sally says she thinks he's ran into one too many brick walls
03:06Even though she should know he could be right
03:09And why would someone with super speed lack the reaction speed to avoid running into the walls?
03:15I have to assume the reason he ever survived that was rings
03:19Sally smartly makes it clear that she didn't steal them
03:22But I hate that she did it by making everyone laugh at him for the smell of his socks
03:27Sonic turns off the lights and says that whoever took his shoes can return them without being seen
03:33But anyone spiteful enough to take them wouldn't return them that fast
03:38But there is still a chance it might work
03:40I felt sorry for Sonic when he saw a piece of paper saying that if he doesn't trust people who don't respect him and insult him and laugh at him regularly
03:48Then they'll fight Eggmen without him
03:51Even though Bunny isn't in this book to protect them
03:54They're unlikable in this so far
03:56But he brought on himself by not just accusing Antoine
04:01Somehow
04:02Even Tails went with them
04:04But they needed his protection as the one who could fly away with one of them holding him
04:08Luckily Boomer lampshades that it doesn't feel right to do this without Sonic and that he always knows what to do
04:15Only Sally talks about Sonic rudely
04:18But it does say that even she missed him
04:20Which doesn't make up for that bullshit
04:23What also be bullshit would be if you're fine with Amy being rude to Sonic but not her
04:28Why can't both be bad?
04:30Eventually it's explained they're trying to plug a giant smokestack with a cork
04:35If they really didn't think this was a good idea
04:39They would just go back
04:41Tails is naively optimistic
04:43And because he was walking
04:45He trips over a wire that he would have seen in front of him that springs traps to have him caught in a cage and the other people caught in a net
04:52This makes them look like impossibly stupid idiots for thinking they could do a mission without Sonic
04:58And it's an accurate sad AM where they do their own thing without Sonic right beside them all the time
05:03So I get to see Sally worry because Eggman will be here any moment
05:07Though why he specifically would come here when there's no witnesses to them being captured is beyond me
05:13And eventually I hate that Tails acts like it's his fault this happened entirely because he has to learn to think before he ends
05:21Learning the wrong lesson there
05:23Sonic says he should have thought before accusing
05:25As if that's supposed to be satisfying
05:29He bores me by bragging that he's too noble to let them down
05:33So I'm glad Antoine finally asks if he could free them and finish talking later
05:39And it portrays him as a moron for giving them all gifts before they got home
05:43Which Sally lampshades
05:45Sonic wouldn't be this dumb when he's supposed to be cool
05:49And somehow Eggman's here already
05:53And why is Eggman making a pun?
05:55Sonic wastes time asking to borrow Antoine's new gift
05:59When the robots should be acting against them during that time
06:01He cuts a hole through the net
06:03And I wonder why Eggman wasted time making the Catterkiller able to talk
06:07Though it is nice to see one
06:09Why would he even waste time making a robot that won't be nearly as competent as Swap Boss
06:13Because it's got no limbs and can only bite
06:19Freeing his friend sends a big cork catapulting through the air
06:23Sadly it doesn't hit Eggman
06:25After some padding where Sonic resorts to fat shaming Eggman with no reaction
06:29Instead of using an heroic insult
06:31Eventually the cork miraculously lands in the exact chimney they wanted to be in
06:37It's nice to see a tale say Bullseye
06:41The smoke fills the building
06:43The narration didn't need to clarify that it's because it had nowhere else to go
06:47And why would the walls start to bulge because of a non-solid thing being in excess?
06:53I got to see Eggman whine about this
06:55And somehow it would be dumb not to think he could get his robots to save his factory
06:59When it bulged up that fast
07:01It should just explode before he could do it
07:05Eventually Sonic says he'll wreck another factory later
07:08And resorts to mocking his baldness
07:10Again without it being clear that he wouldn't have said
07:14I'll get you yet otherwise
07:16So there doesn't seem to be a point in this
07:20Eggman unrealistically calls him a goody two shoes as an insult as he leaves
07:24And the next day Sonic invites the group to his newly cleaned up room
07:28Which I'm glad is underground
07:30It makes much more sense that Eggman doesn't find it
07:34Eventually he shoves the lesson of the story down your throat by saying that he's learned that it's a good thing to do housekeeping
07:40Doing that caused him to find his shoes under the sheets
07:44He wasted my time saying super cool and red
07:48And I don't usually say this because it's obvious but they shouldn't be called sneakers
07:52Because it takes longer to read than shoes
07:56Eventually Sally tries to embarrass him for no reason
08:00So at least he gets to snap back by lying that he'd never have a crush on her
08:04Which ideally wouldn't because she acts like a bully to him
08:08Sonic says he gets the tailspin wondering why everyone got a present but him
08:12I was so bored by taking so long to describe him giving gifts to people who didn't deserve it
08:18I didn't mention that
08:20Eventually it's revealed that Sonic wants to give those shoes to him
08:24After all the time he spent looking for them
08:26He flatters him that if anyone can come close to filling his shoes
08:30It'd be him
08:32And I like the tail stutters while thanking him
08:34And after padding
08:36The story ends with Sonic asking them to waste their time coming with them to buy shoes
08:40For no apparent reason considering that he's not holding it against them
08:44How they've been treating him
08:46This was released on January 1st 1993
08:50That's before Sad Am came out
08:52Well this story didn't leave a good impression

09:00Was about Sonic misplacing his shoes in his bedroom
09:04And uncharacteristically saying to his friends that any one of them could have stolen it

09:12Which caused him to grab the idiot ball by going on an adventure without his protection
09:16And impossibly
09:18Tails trips on something that was in front of him
09:20So he would have seen it
09:22Which captures them all
09:24Before that
09:26Sally and Antoine were nothing but rude to him
09:28And the others didn't stick up for Sonic anyways
09:30So it was cathartic that they needed Sonic to save them
09:34Sonic losing his shoes in the bedsheets and his friends trying to plug a smokestack
09:40Are both new premises
09:42But most of his friends did nothing to demonstrate why he should like them if he didn't already know
09:46And just make them all look bad
09:50And that combined with how forced the plot progression was made the story irritating
09:54You'd have to find Sonic as annoying as Sally does
09:58To not be frustrated at how she treats him
10:00But the whole reason the series got successful was because people liked Sonic's personality
10:06When I first tried to read a Sadie M novel
10:08I was expecting one of the picture books because I knew they existed
10:12So I was a little disappointed
10:14It's nice to see pictures instead
10:16But seeing the pictures spoils what the narration's gonna say
