00:00Sally despairs saying that they'll never be able to find all their friends
00:04because they don't know what they are.
00:06The narration says she was too upset to remember that Johnny was a mop.
00:10Sonic reassures her by speaking calmly and saying that at least they've got her.
00:15He picks her up and runs and eventually finds out that Johnny's being used to wash the floors.
00:21I don't know if they're seeing it happen or Sally told them.
00:25If they were seeing it happen they would have been heard complaining.
00:28Sonic's described as livid and pounds his fists into his other hand because knuckles didn't exist yet.
00:36That's how you really know he cares about his friend.
00:39The narration says that Sonic had hated having to leave Eggman's lab
00:44and only did it because Sally was concussed and in danger.
00:47So he took Sally to the second place Eggman would look if he wanted to kidnap her again.
00:53Really they should all get new homes.
00:55I should have been told where they were at the start of the chapter.
00:59I thought Sally was still in the lab and was going to accompany them on adventures Sad AM style.
01:05Instead Sonic was smart.
01:07Because it's not like she has a weapon like swords.
01:11Sally mops her brow with a handkerchief and a crumpled piece of paper slips out.
01:16Realistically her head still hurt.
01:20Even though Tails' doesn't.
01:22I assume she didn't get any rings.
01:25Sonic sees some of Eggman's notes that Sally picked up by accident when she slid across the table.
01:31He calls it a most excellent and useful deed.
01:34Though Sonic wouldn't phrase it like that.
01:37They see Eggman's designs for the Transformer Ray.
01:41They find out Eggman plans to use a World Transformer to turn all life on Mobius into machinery.
01:47The idea of robotization is so intuitive in the Sonic series because this villain puts people in robots.
01:53That it gets come up with even outside of America.
01:56And this is the first time the World Roboticizer was in Sonic.
02:01Even if he is just technically turning them into machines.
02:05It's still a roboticizer because their brain is still there.
02:09They're still conscious.
02:12This book was released on September 30th.
02:15While Sonic Spinbull's Archie story where the World Roboticizer was first mentioned came out after that.
02:22Sonic is as horrified as the rest of his friends.
02:26But quickly tries to cheer them up as the narration says by saying he's been trying to do exactly this for ages.
02:32Tails calling Sonic Mr. X Toaster was uncalled for in a vacuum.
02:38But since he did kick them without apologizing and verbally abuse them too.
02:43It ends up being cathartic and believable that Tails gets to and wants to get back at him.
02:48It's just a shame that it ends up fighting out of character moments with more of them.
02:52They're not that in the context of this book anyways.
02:55Sonic brings up out of nowhere that it was Tails' fault he ran out of waffles to shoot.
03:01He must be trying to get back at him for the insult.
03:04Sally tells them they won't get anywhere by having silly arguments.
03:08Even though Sonic wasn't silly, he was right.
03:11Once again the writer accidentally gets her character right without even watching Sadie Emphers.
03:16Which makes sense because she's mostly the stereotypical level-headed girl.
03:20He was gonna get her right just because she was a female character in the West we're supposed to like.
03:25Sally reads more of the notes which had bad handwriting and egg whites sticking on them.
03:31She finds out that it'll be four days before the world roboticizers complete at The Wing.
03:37Which must be Wing Fortress considering how lazy the book's been about reusing settings.
03:42I thought that at least Robotnik's lab would be in a new place.
03:46Sonic and Tails return to the lab to see it in the process of being dismantled.
03:51Eggomatics are flying away from the site carrying huge pods full of equipment.
03:56Sonic says he must be building the world roboticizers somewhere else.
04:00I'll call it that because it's easier.
04:03Sonic says Metropolis Zone is the only place Eggman owns that's big enough to hide it.
04:08He calls Tails Buddy and then a large Egg-O-Matic with Eggman in it fires at the ground.
04:14And Borobots claw up from the ruins of the scrap metal to block their way back.
04:19It doesn't need to take so long to have Sonic jump at the Eggmobile hard enough to make it roll over and over and nearly hit the ground.
04:26This thing's built way less impressively than the one in the games that isn't moved at all by a spin jump.
04:32He must have put it together in a hurry with cheap materials.
04:36Tails says way to go and somehow wonders what they're gonna do about badniks.
04:41Then the badniks end up shapeshifted.
04:44But I don't know what congealed Semolina is.
04:48So I'm just picturing a bunch of green slime.
04:51Wrong word to use there.
04:54So the robots had accidentally been hit with a shapeshift array that Eggman was smart enough to put on his Eggmobile in case he sees them again.
05:01Sonic calls him Buddy and the story wastes my time until Sonic sees the winged fortress above him.
05:08The next scene's at night and it takes too long to explain that they wait until night because it'd be harder to see their plane headed for the airship.
05:16Tails is smart enough to wonder if it's got radar and Sonic hopes they'll fly into one of its blind spots.
05:23What long words?
05:25Tails puts on a scarf and a pair of goggles like in the OVA released years later because it's realistic.
05:33Thankfully it actually doesn't pretend he did this before.
05:36Sonic asks what he's doing and he says he saw a video of people dressing up like that before flying a plane for battle.
05:43Realistically, Sonic tells him that's outdated and says he looks cool enough without a scarf and goggles.
05:49Sonic flies with Tails sideways having his tails propel him as he spin dashes in the air.
05:56Anyways, eventually they have to dodge missiles and Sonic spins off to one side on the airship.
06:03And Tails is thrown onto the missile.
06:05His hand opens up a panel by accident and he presses something by mistake.
06:10The missile goes upwards.
06:12And then for no reason the missile goes back around and hones in on the fortress.
06:17If normally Tails would have paid good money for a ride as exciting as this.
06:22As the narration says.
06:24Why wasn't he in the mood for it here?
06:27Eggor can't activate the defender's shields because all of the energy for them has been bypassed to boost the factory production.
06:34Which was Eggman's idea.
06:36How did Eggman forget that?
06:38There's a joke where Eggman scolds him and says,
06:41Do you have to mindlessly obey everything I tell you?
06:44Because of this.
06:46Tails falls off the missile just before it hits the bay of the airship and causes a huge explosion.
06:52It should have stuck with what it first said.
06:54Because logically he would have let go of it.
06:56Why did it contradict itself?
06:58First it said he came to his senses and let go of it.
07:02How would he have fallen off it otherwise?
07:04He flies over to Sonic who grabs him and says that turning the missile around was cool of him and calls him buddy.
07:10The fact that he was mean to him before a few times makes the times where he compliments him have a lot more impact.
07:17Usually I take it for granted.
07:19But here they're heartwarming.
07:21Why doesn't Tails feel in pain from Sonic grabbing his ears?
07:25Tails says it was nothing.
07:27Sonic says it was cool and points out that it blasted a hole for them to get into.
07:32The story over describes what's in that hole when we could have guessed it was a bunch of metal and smoke.
07:38Sonic slams to a hatch to progress and out runs pounding pistons behind him.
07:43He pulls Tails out of the way of one because he was looking up and staying still for no reason.
07:49Tails thanks him and calls him buddy and Sonic says,
07:52It was nothing.
07:53What are buddies for?
07:55Sonic smashes down the end of the corridor and Eggman's chair spins around to greet him with a smirk.
08:01It makes sense that he'd have a chair there this time.
08:04Because it's more comfortable than just standing there waiting for him.
08:07It makes sense that he'd smirk because he would have already figured out by now that Sonic wouldn't beat him up when he's defenseless because he thinks he'd feel bad about it.
08:16Not only had he let him outrun him in two games but he also didn't hurt him right after he was turned evil in front of him.
08:22Eggman brags boringly telling me stuff that they already know.
08:26Because he spent so much time talking because Sonic didn't have the guts to beat him up and I guess Tails was too scared to without a weapon.
08:33He had spotted the holes in the wall.
08:35Which is why he knew to jump over the barrier of spikes that sprung out with Tails in tow.
08:40And you wouldn't know he had held Tails until the end of the paragraphs.
08:44Eggman runs away from the advancing dudes as the narration says and unfortunately the narration doesn't explain why the so-called heroes let him outrun them.
08:54So again I have to assume they think it'd be evil to stop him from escaping.
08:59Despite the fact that Sonic said this time he isn't going to get away.
09:04It turns out he just said what he didn't mean.
09:07If it didn't want me to assume that, it should have said Eggman had cybernetic legs.
09:12Or that the power of the emeralds that infused him with all of the evil in the world also gave him supersonic speed.
09:18Eggman tells Eggor to activate the escape capsule.
09:22And Sonic says it's stupid of him to call it an eggscape capsule when it doesn't have an X in it.
09:27The narration calls Eggman cowardly.
09:30That's true.
09:31Fleetway Eggman tried to punch Sonic.
09:34It'd only be smart of him to even try to run away from Sonic if he punched him out first.
09:39Cause at least then he'd have a head start.
09:41Eggman should have gotten away by an escape panel below his chair.
09:45Sending him down into an escape slide as it closed before Sonic could get to it.
09:50And that kind of thing does happen to Eggman in the scene.
09:53But it's just that the escape panel is something he had to outrun Sonic to get to.
09:58It also has him drop 20 meters onto a padded surface instead.
10:02Which is a new idea with nothing wrong with it.
10:05So I'm glad it did that instead.
10:07It just makes more sense.
10:10Eggman gets into the pilot seat of an escape capsule and flies away because he somehow managed to outrun Sonic and Tails.
10:18If you don't write this kind of thing right, it comes off like you wrote yourself into a corner writing something that should never get to happen.
10:25It's nice that Sonic and Tails appreciate the explosion of Winged Fortress as a cool fireworks display.
10:32Too bad the chapter has a bunch of boring padding before it ends.
10:36Sonic does nothing but state the obvious.
10:38At least he calls Tails Buddy again.
10:41Somehow they assume that Mickey must know about technical stuff because they think of him as the inventor of a waffle gun even though he didn't invent that.
10:48Sonic was turned into the waffle gun by Eggman.
10:51He's only good at technical stuff because of how he made him able to carry him on his back.
10:57There's boring padding until Mickey says he was just kidding about not being able to understand Eggman's blueprints.
11:04Why did he joke about that?
11:06He does nothing but give exposition that I already know.
11:09He says that if you're roboticized, you won't have free will.
11:13Which Sonic and Tails might not have known.
11:16Mickey says the world roboticizer is designed to make a force field that'll spread all over the world.
11:22I like that he said force field.
11:24So I was right when I said that a force field was how the roboticizing energy in a world roboticizer got kept in the intended destination when I saw that concept in Sonic's Quest.
11:34So it's not that it makes no sense because people being roboticized aren't trapped in a metal container with it.
11:40If the writer knows Tails is stating the obvious, he has no excuse for writing it.
11:46Mickey figures that Eggman's building the world roboticizer close to the middle of the planet so that the field could spread out to everywhere as quickly as possible.
11:54And somewhere he feels safe because of a bunch of machines on his side.
11:58Oh yeah, it's also new that it's not in the sky.
12:02It turns out he never had to put in the death egg.
12:05So this confirms that Metropolis is in the center of the world.
12:09Although center is relative for a round world.
12:12Where the only true center is the core.
12:15So really he should put it in the core of the earth and they should have to dig really deep underground to get to him.
12:21Mickey tries to get some more peanuts out of them in exchange for his advice.
12:25Which is actually stupid because as Sonic points out, he's gonna end up roboticized if he doesn't tell them everything he can.
12:31He says there's an under city below Metropolis where all of the water and acid rain goes.
12:37Sonic complains that he's telling him something he already knows.
12:40And the narration says that only Sonic and him knew this because he had explored it personally.
12:45And as for why Mickey knows about this revelation, Sonic must have told him.
12:50Sonic says that most of the rap people of the under city serve Eggman.
12:54I wish it was explained why.
12:56That Eggman offered them a huge paycheck and they don't have a better option.
13:00That there's no jobs there.
13:02There'd be no believability an entire town's worth of people willingly working for Eggman if they know who he is.
13:11No inherent believability.
13:13It's not explained that he has the same political beliefs as them and so they'll think he'll run the world that way if he's in charge.
13:20It's a city.
13:22So that can't be true.
13:23Mickey explains that Eggman's been sending robots under Metropolis.
13:28I think he's being condescending when he congratulates Sonic about guessing that Ratniks are rat robots because it's such an easy thing to guess.
13:36I feel like Ratniks is unusually lazy of a name for Eggman.
13:41He must have come up with it in a hurry when he was tired.
13:44How does Mickey know about this?
13:46It's not explained that he has Eggman bugged.
13:50He says Eggman's using robots to clean up and keep the city tidy.
13:54Why would he care about it being tidy?
13:57He's evil.
13:58Mickey says the real rats before describing what realistic rats that live in a rat city are doing.
14:04Chewing power cables that connect to Eggman's factories to disrupt them.
14:09So the real rats are being heroes without meaning to.
14:12Predictably, Mickey says Sonic could try to get the rats to help him because they know how to get to everywhere above ground in Metropolis through secret tunnels and passages.
14:21So he could get past a lot of guards and alarms.
14:24The narration expects me to believe Sally doesn't often butt into a discussion.
14:28Even though she told Sonic and Tails not to argue even though they weren't even arguing, just insulting each other.
14:34There was no disagreement involved.
14:37She makes a suggestion about the rats being useful and Sonic says cool idea.
14:42Even though I thought only real rats chew through power cables.
14:46And so Sonic couldn't do anything to make sure they did that for him.
14:49It's more like an observation that he could get lucky if the real rats decided to help him.
14:54If she's still talking about rat people, then that doesn't really apply.
14:59Wires are thin, so if Sonic tried to throw peanuts at them so they'd be on there to encourage rats to chew on them, he'd probably miss the wires and keep throwing peanuts on the floor, wasting his food.
15:11Sonic says she's more than just a pretty face, which makes her blush.
15:15And says that while a cool mind would be useful for where he's going, of course this would be a job for super dudes of action.
15:23Sally doesn't complain about this because she's smarter in this book than most Sally's.
15:27Who I guess feel like they have something to prove by risking their necks with no magic or weapons or technical skills.
15:33Which makes sense because those Sally's had to deal with their fathers being overthrown by Eggman.
15:38It might have been the intent that they felt like they failed their fathers by not being strong or useful enough to save them.
15:44Also, those Sally's are still treated like royalties, so of course they feel an extra need to prove they deserve the special treatment and authority.
15:51Being a princess would give anyone a bigger ego.
15:54As in thinking I have big shoes to fill, which can lead to being insecure if that doesn't pan out.
16:00Sonic calls Tails his buddy, and somehow his friends worry that they won't make it back this time.
16:05Somehow, Tails hadn't expected that at the edge of Metropolis there would be thousands of robots hard at work building a huge fence and running long power cables through the wire mesh of it.
16:16But they're building it, so who cares? They can just go where it's still being constructed and avoid it.
16:22Why bother putting up a sign saying hedgehog free zone when you know Sonic will ignore it?
16:27Tails asks about the robots, what are those things, when he really shouldn't care what exact model number they are.
16:34When every badnik goes down with no strategy.
16:37Sonic calls him little buddy, and the story starts boring me again because it's mostly pointless dialogue right now.
16:44Sonic says they could jump over that fence easily, and Tails wastes time saying they could jump fences that are higher than that.
16:51Sonic calls him buddy and calls him out on overdoing it.
16:54They hit an invisible wall above the fence, and I have to assume the reason they still bother making a fence is because it takes constant energy to keep a force field up as opposed to having a fence.
17:04Sure, being electrified still takes up energy, but not nearly as much.
17:09So I'm impressed that Eggman was smart enough to do this.
17:12Somehow, the heroes are too stupid to take the hint and stop trying to jump over the fence.
17:17Of course, if they put a force field up, they would have it be as high up as someone could possibly jump.
17:22At least they'd give up after the second time.
17:25I guess Eggman didn't have enough time to prepare, so that's why he didn't make it like this in Sonic 2.
17:31Tails gets to come up with an idea, even if it is common sense.
17:35He says they could simply run around the city at fast speed and try to find out if there's anywhere where the robots haven't finished putting up the force field yet.
17:44But it's invisible, so they'd only be able to tell it wasn't up if the fence wasn't there.
17:49And it's not worth getting themselves hurt by jumping to check.
17:54Sonic compliments his idea, even though he definitely would have thought of it anyways.
17:58It's especially good they'd use an ice temp for it, because the narration insists on pointing out that it didn't look quite so good for Sonic when the sidekick did the smart thinking.
18:07The fence is around all of Metropolis, and the barrier was above the gates of the fence too.
18:12Sonic wants to get into one of the trucks and lorries that feed chemicals into the factory.
18:18Tails compliments Sonic on even having a plan D just in case.
18:22It shouldn't be Sonic who had all of those plans though.
18:25It is cool of him, but it's offset by being confusing of him.
18:29We already know he's cool, and aren't gonna stop thinking he is just because someone else comes up with all of the plans so he doesn't have to siphon up coolness from other people.
18:38Your opinion of whether Sonic is cool or not would be pretty fragile if that made him lame.
18:44Just like I had hoped, Sonic actually had no idea what plan D was yet.
18:49So he was just uncharacteristically lying without needing to again.
18:54But it makes sense because it was because of his ego that he did it.
18:58It's explained after the fact that plan C didn't work out.
19:02It should have had a fail in real time, because that's more engaging.
19:06Most of Eggman's trucks had no way of holding on to them, and there were chick bots mounted on them ready to shoot.
19:12Eventually, Sonic doesn't have to admit he lied to Tails, because he hears bad singing before Tails does, even though Tails has bigger ears.
19:20So I'd expect him to hear it first.
19:22The singing gets louder, and then a mound shows up in the earth, and out of it pops Stevie, who says that he just loves these wonderful people.
19:30I assume he's here because he's trying to help them.
19:34Sonic says welcome to plan D, and they follow him underground.
19:38The story says moles burrow fast as well.
19:42It sure is a shame that I thought I had to be loyal to the games in a sense, because that meant Sonic had to get this annoying OC for help with the logic that a moles of burrowing animal, even though hedgehogs are also burrowing animals.
19:56There's logically no reason Sonic can't have spin dashed under the ground, which you'd think he would have tried anyways out of desperation.
20:04This is the same book that had him spin dashed aiming upwards or diagonally to fly towards Winged Fortress, which makes about as much sense as him being fast in the first place.
20:15And of course Sonic doesn't have the ability to dig through the ground in the games, because then he could avoid every enemy that way.
20:21And either he'd make the game so easy as boring if he could dig as fast as he runs fast, or if he couldn't, then nobody would bother digging more than once, as it's more fun to run fast.
20:32Just because you can't make him do something in the gameplay doesn't mean he can't do it in universe.
20:37You can't make Sonic go to the bathroom or spit on the ground either.
20:42Knuckles couldn't dig through the ground either in the classics, and when you dug with him in the later games, he always came out of the ground seconds later.
20:50That doesn't mean he's psychologically incapable of staying in the ground after digging in it.
20:54It's because the game designers didn't see what would be appealing about him staying in the ground as long as we wanted.
21:00It's too bad Stevie keeps stomping to badly sing, which makes me glad it's not a medium with audio.
21:07And if Sonic was the one burrowing, we wouldn't have to deal with this.
21:11The story's boring at this point.
21:13Sonic crashes open the hatch and gets to a room that's dark except for some tiny lights along power cables.
21:20He thanks Stevie, and again lies when he doesn't have to.
21:24It turns out Eggman had lied to Sonic, and he had lost some of the parts of the world roboticizer when Winged Fortress exploded.
21:32It seems unnecessary to explain this to Eggman's expense, but I like that he kept his composure in front of Sonic and boasted that things were great instead of looking pathetic by raging about his failure when Sonic didn't know for sure that there was a failure yet.
21:46That's definitely an improvement making him a cool villain some more.
21:50And I get that this was written for catharsis because now he's mad that he's behind schedule.
21:55This scene is such a waste of time.
21:57Eggor says he could extort everyone to work harder.
22:00Eggman somehow thinks the robots are too stupid to be extorted.
22:04And he surprisingly admits that Eggor is smart with no benefits himself.
22:09Without Eggor interacting with Sally, he's just unnecessary.
22:12The story says Eggman looks like an oversized marshmallow wearing trousers, which is fat shaming him.
22:19It's just stating the obvious while padding.
22:22Eggman leaves to go to bed, and Eggor eventually looks at Sally on a computer screen and calls her one cool babe.
22:28And he doesn't want to turn himself into the maintenance department and fix himself.
22:33Porker should also be thought of as cool by him, because he also talked back to him and was stubborn.
22:39He's only been written to ignore Porker because the writer likes Sally for the archetype she is.
22:44Because she's a girl.
22:46If she wasn't a girl, then her personality of being sassy and logical wouldn't be considered remarkable and amazing.
22:53Because that's how Porker was.
22:55Sonic and Tails were heading along the electrical cable tunnel.
22:59When they got hoisted into the air and stuffed in sacks tied up so tightly that they had no chance of escaping.
23:05I guess by that it means they're tied up so tightly that Sonic can't even curl into a ball and have his spines go through it.
23:14Either that or this has to be the best material for a sack ever for Sonic to not spin dash out of it.
23:20That makes sense because the rat people worked for Eggman.
23:24But it's more likely they just can't move at all.
23:27After some padding, they're surrounded by rat people and talked to by a rat king with shades.
23:33And somehow Sonic isn't recognized even though he's world famous as he says.
23:38Since these people worked for Eggman, they should definitely know who Sonic is.
23:42He's just pretending.
23:44Once again, the book has Sonic get talked to by a king who insists on being called by a respectful title.
23:50Tails correctly guesses he has a daughter with chronic eating problems.
23:55He was correct and has asked how he knows and gets told he's psychic.
23:59Was this supposed to be a horrible joke?
24:01I don't understand why there are two kings with daughters with that problem.
24:05The king Capone is smart enough to wonder why Sonic and Tails got captured if they're supposedly psychics.
24:11But what he says is how come they didn't foresee they'd be captured.
24:16Tails was lying but they could've.
24:18And just not known exactly when it happened.
24:20And had no other choice than to go where they went.
24:23Sonic doesn't use the right title and says that he knew rat people prefer to kidnap people.
24:28And didn't want to put them off their rhythm.
24:30That's racist.
24:32Since they're surrounded, I can see why Sonic would lie his way out of this.
24:35Because the alternative would be jumping on the heads of everyone in his way.
24:39Or spin-dashing it.
24:41Which heroes don't do.
24:42Because they'd probably get killed by it.
24:45Sonic lies that they brought the king pizza as a goodwill gift.
24:50Tails isn't happy about being described by Sonic as an underling.
24:54But is smart enough to keep silent about it.
24:56I found Sonic didn't mean it because he said uh before it.
25:00As well as Page Fox Squire type.
25:02And both of those are medieval words.
25:04And he's talking to a king.
25:06So he called him underling to make himself relatable to the king.
25:09Who he obviously actually hates.
25:12The king smartly asks for a food taster.
25:14And I wonder why a king said dweeb.
25:17The king wants the anchovies saved for him.
25:20That threw me for a loop because it's unlikely.
25:22It's not impossible though.
25:24And to be fair.
25:25Stevie had said that rat people love pizza with anchovies in it.
25:29Which I thought was some more throwaway dialogue where he was generalizing.
25:33There sure is a lot of generalizing of entire mobian species in this book.
25:38Once again there's a king that's confusingly nice.
25:41By merely telling someone don't do it again instead of punishing him right away.
25:45It's convenient that both rats like eating cold pizza.
25:50I guess the reason the king called Sonic and Tails creeps and jerks is racism.
25:55Because it'd be pretty petty if it was just because he forgot the olives.
25:59Sonic and Tails let themselves get tied up for hours.
26:02And I just have to assume it's because they don't want to hurt people trying to escape.
26:06I also have to assume the reason they didn't just tell people they're here to stomp the world roboticizer.
26:11Is they don't think they'd be believed by people who once worked for Robotnik.
26:16The king was smart enough to want to know why Sonic is really here.
26:20Sonic says that the whole future of Mobius depends on him.
26:24The king easily figures out that he's here to stomp the world roboticizer.
26:28Which he even knows by name.
26:30And yet he somehow needs convincing to help stomp something that would obviously be used against him too.
26:36If he knows it's name, why won't he know it's function?
26:40I wish the narration explained that the rat people were told they're the exception.
26:44Also, what does the king call Eggman Batso if he still supports him?
26:49Instead of Sonic appealing to his self-preservation instinct,
26:52he eventually says that there's a problem with ratniks here.
26:55At one point, one of the people in the crowd hopes their paws will get cut off.
27:00Yet another underground kingdom full of racists.
27:03The comic about the nerves was in 1994.
27:07Way after this.
27:09The story's long-winded again until eventually he's told he and Tails will be released,
27:13but they have to bust into the pizza factory for them.
27:16The narration says that Sonic had no intention of doing them for them,
27:20even though getting people some pizza would be a good deed to do and they're supposed to be heroes.
27:25The king insists on keeping Tails as a hostage to force Sonic to do a good deed.
27:31He shouldn't have had to resort to this.
27:33But thanks to the narration, he's not in the wrong here.
27:36Sonic's also told that they'll have guards around Tails night and day and one wrong move in his history.
27:42So he does have to take a detour for some padding for the book.
27:47At least the concept of him having to do this and why is new.
27:51It's just a shame that what he has to do to get the pizza is just the same old, same old stuff he's done a billion times.
27:58So the journey is mostly padding I had to force myself to read.
28:02It gives Sonic skewed priorities by saying that he hates bad smells more than anything else.
28:08Really? More than injustice? More than tears?
28:11It was sweet that the narration says he misses Tails and had gotten used to his little buddy.
28:17And it makes him very angry that he doesn't trust the rap people to treat Tails properly.
28:22How am I supposed to believe that this strategy of Sonic doing a super spin isn't going to work,
28:27even though it has been working in this place just because there are too many robots?
28:32He could badnik bounce literally the whole time he's in this place, never hitting the ground until he gets the pizza.
28:39So if he can't keep doing this, then there actually aren't too many of them.
28:43Because if there were, then there'd be places that wouldn't have another badnik to bounce on.
28:48And he always magically lands on his feet after a spin jump.
28:51But either way, he'd be vulnerable.
28:53He disconnects the hose leading from the dough vat and sprays it against all of the robots in front of him,
28:59and he fills the entire factory.
29:01So that's new.
29:03Sonic bursts through a door and ends up sliding down a long, flower-filled chute.
29:08Why would the door directly lead to that?
29:11He sneezes because of all the flour, which is good because it makes sense.
29:16And then he lands in tomato puree and gets to the floor.
29:20So it's karma against him for mistreating Tails.
29:23Sonic's realistically on his back after being sent to the floor,
29:26and of course that causes the grabber robots to grab him.
29:29But the writing keeps making sense because the metal nippers keep slipping off the tomato puree on Sonic.
29:35I also love this because it's another thing that never happened in Sonic before,
29:39and it sounds visually interesting.
29:41It's such a shame that this level of writing quality where usually it makes sense and is creative is stuck in a book.
29:49Because this is so rare for the franchise now when it should be standard.
29:54Sonic makes a pun to do a one-liner.
29:56That's not cool of him, but at least the pun was only for a one-liner, which tend to be puns.
30:02He runs into a dark rooms conveyor belt.
30:06It leads into a tube that covers him in toppings.
30:09Another thing that's new.
30:11Along with him just barely avoiding getting cooked with pizzas.
30:14I like that he ate some of the stuff he was covered with.
30:18He was trying to see the positives in this.
30:21He turns dials to make exactly the kind of pizza he's supposed to.
30:25That's creative as well.
30:27It's also likable of Sonic to eat a few of the pizzas.
30:30A door opens slowly enough for Sonic to hide and watch a robot put the pizza boxes on a metal thing that rises into the air.
30:38The robot presses a lever to turn that thing around and glide it through the doorway.
30:43Sonic uses the lever to control the platform.
30:46And realistically he also had to keep running around catching the pizzas.
30:50It also makes sense that he eventually crashes because he isn't used to flying this thing.
30:55But it's sheer luck that he only crashed it right where the rat people are.
31:00I can suspend my disbelief that it was just easy enough to fly that it only took until now to crash it.
31:06The narration should have said somehow when describing that the rat people knew how to find where he was.
31:12It should have just said they inevitably found him because there were so many of them searching for him in so many places.
31:18If the reason he wrote somehow was that he didn't land in just the right place.
31:23And he did.
31:24He landed in front of the king.
31:26So what do you mean somehow?
31:28At least the rat princess did nothing but compliment Sonic's efforts and say he deserves to be world famous.
31:35Even though she calls him Buster for not being a rat.
31:38She also talks in a little slang because she's a realistic teenager.
31:42I think that's a first for Sonic princesses.
31:45And I'm glad she barely talks.
31:47Somehow the people here aren't strong on the personal hygiene front.
31:52Every single one of them.
31:54That's what the narration concludes to generalize all of them.
31:58This is because they're rats.
32:00But since rats are more prone to disease you'd think rat people would be compelled to try harder to be sanitary than others.
32:07Tails is untied and sadly Sonic doesn't get any cheers.
32:11Must be because he's not a rat.
32:13Sonic somehow thought the deal was that the Rat King would help him find Eggman's Master Lamb as well as release Tails.
32:20After a forever of reading where the king makes it clear that he isn't going to help him with that.
32:25And even annoys me by saying Sonic would get killed for being smart.
32:29Like that makes any sense.
32:31The king says that to be generous he'll release Sonic somewhere close to the world roboticizer.
32:37So why did they say that right away?
32:40The Rat King says it won't necessarily be next to the thing anyways.
32:44Sonic again pointlessly flatters him on being helpful.
32:48It's annoying because the king doesn't deserve it.
32:51I can't think of any new characters I like in this book.
32:55The closest to one I like is Mickey.
32:59It tries too hard to keep them from looking like they're favored and are overshadowing the heroes.
33:04Who would have to follow some jerks to a place so they can point out where they have to go.
33:08Sally's suggestion was for nothing.
33:11Because they're full from the pizzas.
33:14And he doesn't see any real rest to help him.
33:17Sonic at least says he has a bad feeling about this.
33:20But since they don't know what the weight to the world roboticizer is.
33:24And Tails points out all of the problems they could face Metropolis regardless.
33:29It makes sense that Sonic thought he has to take the chance of going the route that the king clearly insinuated would be especially dangerous.
33:35Just in case it was the only way.
33:37Because it would take much longer to get to the destination if it was the only way.
33:42And he tried every other route first.
33:45It's just like when Sonic followed the advice of the end.
33:48Sonic and Tails progress the way they had before.
33:52And get briefly interrupted by hearing some bad music from a radio station of Metropolis.
33:58Sonic knocks down a door and finds himself in a chat show being interviewed by a robot that looks human.
34:04And can turn on canned applause for 12 seconds.
34:07The door should have been left open if Sonic was always meant to come here.
34:11Why would it be closed when it'll have to be repaired because of that?
34:15He's asked what it's like being such a blue dude.
34:19And humbly says that it's just him being himself.
34:22And lies for no reason that he has an agent.
34:25Why does Sonic get asked about a movie supposedly making with a director?
34:29Why does he lie to humor him by complimenting that director?
34:33Tails is horrified because he assumes that one of Eggman's minions is monitoring the show.
34:38And so Eggman's gonna send a force of robots to it.
34:42So it was all a trump.
34:44Then why did the rats try to kill him in the first place?
34:47Tails thinks that just dragging Sonic out would make things worse.
34:51I assume because it led on that he knows the robots are gonna get sent to him.
34:55But so what?
34:57They're badniks.
34:58The radio DJ has such lame dialogue.
35:02Insisting on puns and dated slang.
35:05Tails takes a close look at the radio and ends up racing to the studio.
35:10I assume the robot speaking in code when he says there's an emergency message for Sonic that a director named Tux needs to contract him.
35:18Sonic recognizes the name Tux and takes too long saying goodbye in a boring long-winded way.
35:24I guess he thought he had to lie down to trick him.
35:28Tails gets him to run into the darkness and warns him that Eggman's bound to know he's here.
35:33Sonic says sorry and figures out because of the way the radio looks that it used to be his friend Tux.
35:39So I'm going to talk to you now.
35:40I'm not sure.
35:48I'm not sure.
35:49I'm not sure.
35:54I don't know.
35:56I'm not sure.
35:59I'm not sure.
36:01But I'll see you later.
