Leeds road users are being urged to plan ahead as works begin later this month on the A647/A6120 Dawsons Corner junction and Stanningley Bypass.
Transcript
00:00Over four weeks, starting on Saturday 26 July, road repairs and resurfacing works will take
00:06place on the Standingley Bypass as part of the £44m Dawson's Corner and Standingley Bypass
00:12improvement scheme. Road users are being urged to plan ahead for traffic management measures,
00:17with a contraflow being implemented to make improvements to the A647 and A6120 Dawson's
00:23Corner junction. The works have been planned to coincide with reduced levels of traffic over
00:28the school summer holidays, allowing for them to progress as quickly as possible,
00:32with some significant disruption expected to journeys over the coming weeks.
00:37Traffic management measures will be in place 24 hours, seven days a week,
00:41along with 30 mph speed limits to help complete the work efficiently.
00:45During the set-up and switch-around of the traffic management, there will be partial closures of the
00:50bypass and some of the access and slip roads will have local diversions.
00:54Access to Pudsey train station will be maintained at all times.
00:59The road traffic management system will safely allow repairs and servicing works to take place,
01:04starting northbound from 8pm on Saturday 26 July until 9 August, and then southbound from 5am on
01:12Sunday 10 August until 24. The Alcote shopping centre slip road will be closed to facilitate changes to the
01:18traffic management between 8pm and 6am on the 26th July and 9th, 23rd and 24th August.
01:26The changes to the junction are aiming to reduce congestion and delays, helping to support economic
01:31growth across Leeds and Bradford, as well as to improve air quality. Other anticipated improvements
01:37are better traffic flow, a reduction in bus journey times and safer crossing facilities for cyclists and pedestrians.
