00:08As they move into their final phase, road closures will be implemented, with drivers advised to plan ahead, as the
00:15£13m Lawnswood Roundabout scheme nears completion.
00:19Leeds City Council have confirmed overnight road closures and diversions will be in place between 7pm and 6am Monday to
00:27Friday for up to four weeks from 3rd August.
00:31The works will move around the junction in phases, with each approach effected in turn, allowing crews to prepare the
00:37road surface ahead of final resurfacing.
00:40Closures of the roundabout are planned during road surfacing between Saturday 5th to Monday 7th September.
00:47Drainage works are also being carried out underneath Otley Road, near the junction.
00:52The scheme includes speed restrictions and curbs on waiting and loading around the roundabout.
00:58Traffic signals, along with pedestrian and cycle crossings and a bus lane extension, are also being installed.
01:04Speed limits of 40 and 50 mph will be introduced between King Lane and the roundabout.
01:10The council said there were 25 recorded injuries between 2020 and 2024 at the site, with six of them being
01:18serious.
01:18The works are planned to avoid disruption to major events, including Iron Man and Leeds Festival.
