00:00Leeds and Bradford Road users are being urged to plan ahead as significant work takes place at Dawson's Corner as
00:06part of an ongoing project.
00:08A major traffic switch will take place from 11pm on Friday 24th April until 5am on Monday 27th April,
00:17during which time there will be full weekend closures of the Ring Road Farsley, A6120, and Bradford Road.
00:23The two-way traffic routes of Bradford Road, the A647, and Stanley Bypass will remain open.
00:31Eastbound lane closures on Bradford Road are in place until Friday,
00:35but access to New Pudsey train station and Owlcote shopping centre will be maintained throughout the works.
00:42Fully signed vehicle and pedestrian diversions will be in place,
00:45and if you're travelling through the area you're being advised to allow extra time for journeys.
00:50Leeds City Council recently released visualisations showing how Dawson's Corner will look once the works are complete.
00:57The aim of the work is to reduce congestion, improve safety,
01:01and create better routes for all road users at this key gateway into the city.
01:06Dawson's Corner connects two of Leeds' most important transport routes,
01:11with around 57,000 vehicles and 1,200 pedestrians and cyclists travelling through the junction each day.
01:18To keep disruption to a minimum, the Council's programme takes account of other road works and major events across the
01:24city,
01:24and will be adjusted where possible.
01:26The upgrade works are scheduled to be complete early next year.
